Sims 2 on ps2 was the first sims game I played and I was actually pretty disappointed to find out the main titles play differently. I am a huge fan of the third person gameplay. Imagine a game like Sims 4 in multiplayer and third person. I think that would be amazing
Same here, kinda disappointed to know that the usual gameplay is actually not controlling the sims movements like we used to do in the sims 2 console. But in the end of the day, i'm getting used to it when i play The Sims 3: Pets Console.
This and Sims 2 Pets on PS2 were my introduction to The Sims franchise. I remember my mind getting totally blown when I finally played the PC version. The trick I found back in the day to making and keeping friends stupidly easy was to throw a party or invite everyone over get them all fed and then have everyone watch TV. You’ll make friends so fast it’s ridiculous
I loved this game back in the day, put lots of hours into it. But never played the story, infact I don't even remember there being a story lol. I just played Freeplay mode. Got a job, started with a small house I built then gradually built it bigger, getting cooler things, forming relationships. And one thing I really liked was controlling the sim with a controller. And multiplayer! I would have a buddy play and we could both have our sims and be like roommates. Good times.
Playing this multiplayer split screen was fun. I liked Sims 1 and 2 on PS2, also Sims 2 Pets came out on PS2 as well, that was also a good game in it's own way. The fact that they were different from the PC versions made them charming in a way.
I want these controls back in future games. It's more immersive. I wanna feel like I'm IN the world I create to my liking, not OBSERVING people doing things. I like feeling like I AM the Sim. That's what I really dug about this console version. And sometimes I do want a bit more structure, because I usually just make the Sims, design the houses and download mods but RARELY play the PC versions as actual games. I'd love if they could implement this gameplay but updated for any SIMS 5 games.
The best trick to make friends in this game is it to invite people over then call them to sit in the pool or couch then place an object so they cant get out then sit there with your sim, they will start talking automatically and they wil become your friends so fast. For Example buy the hot tub go in it, call the sim you want to have as a friend over and when he gets in, place an object where he got in, that will make him be unable to get out of the hot tub and now your sim and the other one will talk with each other and the social points will go up to 100, after that just remove the object, the other sim will get out and home and do it with the next one, you can also do it with more then 1 sim just fill up the whole hot tub with sims and place objects so they cant get out they will talk automatically
I don't fault you for not knowing this but you can press "select" (if I remember correctly) while controlling a character and play in third person view. This way you can queue up actions you want a character to do. This way you can control all characters simultaneously. I remember as a kid being very surprised when I found that out. Free mode also actually had a bunch of stuff. Just that you had to unlock them by getting character specific achievements.
I have this game It was fun as a kid but I realise how flawed it is when I decided to play for the nostalgia. Building is a pain in the ass. Put one too many items on the property a fire starts
i played this as a kid before i had a computer that could run the pc version, and i think i prefer it since i have so many more fond memories of it. and the music is genuinely so good. also this was really entertaining, you should make more content like this

You'd be surprised but the Urbz is less hectic when it comes with keeping friends. You only lose 1 point of disposition with those that you haven't talked that day but every interactions with them, even the generic _Talk_ gives more points.
My first was sims 1 on pc. And I remember loving the fact that this one even allowed you to move around freely. Wouldve been cool if more sims games let you have the option ngl. Im not the biggest fan of the point and click while waiting on a sim to do something. Especially in 4. U try to make a sim talk to someone and either they slowly walk to the person, from across the lot or even sometimes stand still for a good minute before considering.
This is one of the only Sims console or handheld games that I never finished. If I wanted to grind skills that take too long to gain, bend over backward to try and maintain relationships, and learn complex recipes that may or may not turn out the way I want them to, all whilst being miserable at the tedium and borderline futility of it all, I could just do it in real life. Even though this is the crux of most Sims games, this is the only one that felt absolutely torturous after a while.
I would play a polished version of this where we get to directly control the Sims again Haven’t played a Sims game since Sims 2 Castaway because I don’t like having to click where I want the sim to go lol

Sims 2 on the PS2 was one of the best gaming experiences I had, partially because I didnt have experience playing many games before but It was still amazing. Having a crappy tv that you had to punch occasionaly for you to not see only half of the screen and a crappy controller that made using the fridge very difficult added to that experience as well.
Nostalgic indeed. The Sims 2 is one of the game I played back then until my PS2 eventually breaks, alas the PS2 is really inferior compared to the PC version, which is expected tbh. Also I think The Sims 2 eats the most storage in my 8MB PS2 memory card, 1-2MB per save file, I guess.
I think one of the best parts of any simulation game, is wholely how you can influence other characters around you, so the fact that this game gets really unmanageable when there's too many household sims is kinda sad. I'd blame limitations in the AI/programming/system over the concept itself, because I do believe it can be fun managing/protecting multiple characters in a game. That said, I understand and can see how prevalently overstimulation kills concepts like this.
I was playing this back in middle school or even elemantary school. The only thing i remember is that every premade sim’s trait was flirty! There was no premade sim without the flirty trait, the purpose of the game was to have a huge orgy i think? 😂

One thing I have noticed is how Sims 2: Pets for the PS2 pretty much reused materials from Sims 2 that would make sense in Sims 2, but not Sims 2 Pets. For example, the broken western windows, the portholes (a.k.a boat windows) would make no sense to use for a house build in Sims 2 Pets. I never understood why the game had these pointless materials, but now when I look at Sims 2 into details it all comes clear - developers were rushing Sims 2: Pets. There were no death functionalities, no story line and reused materials that made no sense to have.
I learned the trick to make friends, pretty simple, all you need is hot spring bathup, and some object that can block them, I used long table. call people over. Max neighbout that can come is only 2 in biodome. Call them over to bath up, after they join the bathtub, block them with objects so they can’t get out. ez promotion. The second trick is the skills point. uou don’t need to max out ur skills, just eat aphrodisiac food. I use this recipe Llama+Onion+Wholegrainwheat make it as sandwhich. after eating this you will het 3 additional points to all the skills, eat this 1 hour before go to work. The last one is most waste time mood/motive to gain is sleep. The easiest way to fulfill sleep is to buy expresso and put it beside a toilet. U only need 3 expeesso to fulfill the sleep mood, but your bladder will low, then just use toilet. it safe your time a lot.

I think this is a fair review, but I also think the goal of this particular game, much like The Urbz and Bustin Out is just to like... Enjoy it. You just go through the goals and the dialog characters give you, until you "finish" the game with the final level. And then you can do whatever you want, which, sure, isn't much, being a console version of The Sims, but these kinds of games just play differently. My only complaint with the console games has always been that Maxis/EA advertised all of them the same way they did the PC games, while they were the exact opposite of them , which, growing up, always left a sour taste in my mouth, as if I was scammed. As an adult I can appreciate these games for what they are, but it's really vague if you don't know already. *TLDR: PC Sims best if you want the OG Sims experience. Console Sims good if you want a streamlined, story experience.*
