if you find the Amulet too cheesy/too OP too early, a cool quest you can do with reasonable Sneaky assassin skills is Larrius Varro's first quest ("Larrius Varro Tells a Little Story") Balmora/Moonmoth Fort. Ask around for rumors in Balmora and people will tell you about him. The quest is quite hard if you're not careful since you are killing people inside a building, but if you can swing it, you get a Ring of Surroundings, which is 20-30% Chameleon for 30s on use. It takes more effort than the Amulet and the Ring is less powerful, but since it's an early quest and you are pointed towards Balmora anyway, it feels like a more organic start.

      SPOILERS AHEAD
I do find it utterly hilarious that Balmora's Council Club is targeted by 4 different quests, one that you mentioned above, and the other three are tied to separate factions (2 of them being thief-like), but if you do end up killing the whole house you end up having much easier time tackling the other three:
      - Balmora's Thieves Guild has you pickpocket (or with enough disposition, buy) a manor key from one of the above targets, if he's killed then you can just loot it off his dead body then turn the key to the questgiver
      - If you decide to keep the key which is used to enter the manor you'll find a dead Dunmer with a journal update, if you progressed a bit in Balmora's House Hlaluu questline you'll eventually have to find the killer, which turned out to be one of the targets in Varro's quest, which you can immediately turn it in
      - Imperial Cult has one sub-questline involves getting (or buying) alms and donations to be given to the questgiver, one of these involves donating 5 bottles of Cyrodilic Brandy, if you ask around Balmora taverns eventually one NPC will direct you to the Council Club and not-so-subtly poking you to raid their storage room which exactly has five of these, with all of them dead you can just access the storage room freely

I have played Morrowind 20 years ago, when I was in high school and I remember it so fondly. Recently I picked Morrowind again on kids Xbox game pass, played it a little with all the nostalgia and then started digging in. Found OpenMW on PC and then your channel... Oh boy, what a treasure is your channel. So fun to watch and then go and play it. Thank you for being here. I remember vaguely, that I was playing as a Kajiit, the beginning was very difficult. I was very weak and poor. Being at a very low level, I have found some cave, where a strong NPC couldn't reach me. After painfully shooting hundreds of arrows at some fellow with Dwemer armor somewhere in the northwestern portion of the map, I managed to kill him. I don't remember how, but after that all went downhill where I quickly became a glass outfitted super cat marksman who could jump across the river in Balmora. So now I tested your alchemy tricks and further I want to try a Kajiit again, like you in this video.

This will be unpopular, but I like The Lady for thief characters. You generally won't be using too many skills that enhance endurance (although spear can be useful as a backup weapon, since it has a nice range), and that extra boost helps so much with your health. On top of that, a high personality helps you make the most profit off your pilfered goods.

    • @D_A42
      @D_A42 11 місяців тому +4

I do the same. The Lady is great. The boost to personality goes well with Illusion. Spear is really, really good for any build. Its particularly good for low levels. It helps you level up your endurance and get additional health early on. It makes thief/scout build far less squishy

As someone who wants to play through Morrowind all the way a second time as a stealthy thief I absolutely love this video! Especially considering there aren’t any good videos on being a thief that aren’t obsessing over the Strength and Endurance meta.

    • @chrisbingley
      @chrisbingley Рік тому

@@max7971 I was refering more to starting builds. Most go for strength and endurance as favoured attributes with The Lady as a star sign.
Your far better off going with either strength, endurance and The Lover, or Strength, Agility and The Lady.
Really it depends on whether you're running vanilla Morrowind or OpenMW. But whichever version you're playing, you're far better off with all three at/over 60 than one at 85 and oanother at 40.

@@max7971Hey I want to play Morrowind again as a tank (Nord). It's quite possible I haven't really understood the leveling system yet. So if I would go strength and endurance what problem am I likely to face in the later game and how can I avoid it (+ if I chose to do it anyway)? I know you can get 15 points per level (5 each) at max. But are you impying there is a max stat (for every attribute or just for health)?
And how would that circumstance impact the further leveling?

@@chrisbingleyHey I want to restart after many years as a tank (Nord). And I heard it's recommended to go strength + endurance + the Lady (if that was personality + endurance).

Could you explain to me a bit deeper why your selections would be preferable pls?
I am a vanilla Morrowind player, if that as you said, matters.
Also why would more balanced stats e.g. 60 be better than one 80 and the other one 40?

Not necessarily a min/max perfect play guide. But the general little tips on understanding the environment, enemies, quest order, good dungeon raiding practices, or just how to use Morrowind.
Maybe it'd be mundane. But I thought this idea might point someone who uses your build guides in the right direction when they continue their story on their own.

If your sneak is 60 or 50, congrats you are a master of shadows.
No need to select sneak as a major or minor skill because its so easy to level up.

Been looking through UA-cam and forums for something for the last few days and i have honestly never seen anyone post it.
So i got a guide idea to make for those that can't move past the combat system of the game, or are massive hoarders and can't help themselves from picking up every single item in the game and want to keep it all in their inventory.
Don't think this was ever patched out by something as far as i know, but get the skull crusher hammer as soon as possible in the game. You can get through the cave and get the hammer at level 1 if you are decent at kiting enemies, as there is a few strong mobs in there that can 1 or 2 shot you. I had a few friends that i showed it to to help them cause they wanted to play the game to get the lore themselves.
You just need the Skull Crusher and any other weapon in the game. Cycle your weapon equipped and every time it passes the Skull Crusher in the list, it stacks the Fortify Feather and Fortify Attack. You will rarely if ever miss attacks and you have a limitless weight.
For those that can't deal with the games bad combat system, this is a literal game changer and turns the game from being practically unplayable to being fun for those that can't stand having to grind up their skills before they can kill anything.
It's 100% an exploit and shouldn't be used if you want to play the game normally, but for those that want to play the game but get too frustrated with it, this is definitely something that can and will help them be able to do so.

I think an interesting way to do this would be unarmored. Sanctuary is an amazing enchantment and I think it gets overlooked a lot.

Saying stuff like "I'm gonna go back to khajit because it really feels like the perfect race for this class, one that fits the role play core of the character."
    Is really just
"despite only making up 7% of the population, khajits account for 74% of all prisoners."

My favorite build as a kid was a Hand-To-Hand Khajiit with alteration and unarmored. It was fucking hilarious to knock out every living thing in Vvanderfel and steal their shit while they were down. Also stealing all the pillows all the time.

Could you do some kind of an Agent or Acrobat guide? I want to focus on Speechcraft, Mercantile, Marksman(throwing weapons), Short Blade, Acrobatics, Athletics, Sneak, maybe Light Armor, and probably either Security or whatever magic school bypasses Security. The idea being that I'd fall hard into the Blades agent role and keep an ear to the ground wherever I went, befriending the locals and blending in, while approaching combat from stealth and giving myself a ranged option that isn't a bow. A bow is too cumbersome and slow to be effective for what I'm thinking, it can't be easily hidden. Having a dagger or a little short blade is easy to hide and easy to explain and being able to dump a throwing knife or star into someone or something from a ranged stealthy position really appeals to me. That said, I know throwing weapons can be difficult to use at first and I'd love to see a good guide on that.

I'm a bit spoiled so i can't even play skyrim without complaining about "jank this" or "bad AI that" every half hour so you can only imagine how i felt about Morrowind when i saw it.
You are the only reason I have 20 hours into this game and i started last night!
I wouldn't have even touched it if it wasn't for your channel and now i've already ran through the thief and warrior classes from your videos in the span of an afternoon.
The game looks like a wet bag of dogshit, the combat is janky at best and the way the heavy armor sets look make me wanna wear a thong instead but man is this old piece of dead tech fun!
    Genuinely appreciate you.
