How To Thief when?
@@oscar9680 Sooner than you think
Okay bro, I'm genuinely impressed at 115 agility level 1 without using that awesome artifact helmet that requires you to travel all the way across the world twice. I'm surprised you didn't consider taking the serpent since argonians are immune to poison! Remember that spell. That's the only time it actually works to your benefit!
. I don't know about you guys but every elder scrolls game after Morrowind I've told my friends, I'm so mad that there isn't a spear. Maybe that's silly because everybody wants to be a swordsman or hold a Roman gladius or do two-handed attacks with a mace. But honestly dude, I just want to be a spear guy! My favorite role is taking astronaut and swiping the greed spear from vivec.
So many games take place in a medieval setting but they all seem to ignore that spears were the most common weapon found on the battlefield.
Because Spears are broken
spears were the primary weapon of every soldier. swords were secondary ones.
Best weapon finally getting some love. Spears in ES6, Todd Coward!
Give the people what they want, Todd!
No! Spear DLC is only $5 you peasant.
No kidding ... hes such a f up i love bethesda but how could you NOT have spears in all the other games ? f ing bs love the range of the spear
Spears and beast legs I want beast legs back
@@savagex466-qt1io yea. I don't get it. Not even any spears in Skyrim, which was supposed to be inspired by historic Viking culture. But Todd left the spears out, go figure.
Fun fact: spears were used all the way to the musket era, and were across history just as if not more common than swords.
Spears were actually used as a main weapon in most infantry formations, while swords used to be relegated as self-defense and backup weapons (sort of the way handguns are used nowadays).
Swords are much more romanticised in pop culture, thus why many people neglect the humble (yet in many situations superior) spear.
Lancers on horseback were used up until WWI my dude.
Spears were so good that rifles still had a pokey bit at the end of it well into the 20th century.
@@songarakram Some of them still do. A lot of battle rifles have an attachment point where you can secure your knife to it to turn it into a bayonet.
Much more common than sword. Swords were just side arms.
And don’t forget the skill requirements! Medieval armies in Europe had lots of peasants and common people who did not have hundreds of hours to train with a sword. Now, give them a spear to poke with and they can learn the basics in a day. Also spears were better for holding a formation!
Same thing with bows and crossbows. It would take months for someone to just understand the basics of archery and many years to master it.
Give peasant a crossbow, show him how to shoot it and how to reload. Train him 1-2 months and you got a basic crossbowman.
"No, really, I'm sure you come from a very fine swamp. Very good with a spear, no doubt."
Assuming? I'm not assuming anything that's just what you people do, the royal you...
Some advice for people, in the options you can toggle "use best attack". That way you'll always be thrusting ;)
THAT'S WHAT HE SAID
TYSM 😭 🎉
Nice pun but to be honest I don't like that I think it's cool you need to move in different ways with different weapons
I've always wondered: is there any reason not to use the best attack option?
@@TadRaunch Its more immersive when you have more control on your attack type, but that's about it...
One thing that Morrowind did really well was the weapon types. They had meaningful differences between them and all were viable to play, especially since I always liked daggers and anything two-handed.
I wish they kept the weapon diversity in oblivion and skyrim
Spears and short blade are objectively worse than blunt, axe and long blade tho, it's a huge difference the damage of 1 handed axe, blunt, longblade is the same as a spear of the same material like steel or dwarven, the distance thing doesn't really work because of the fatigue system too
@@Billy_MacBillyyes but the jinx short sword is easy to find and get early, giving the player the power of a scrib. Making it a baller weapon skill when using multiple enchanted s.swords
@@IYPITWL aye but it gets annoying at high levels when u fighting tougher enemies, especially in blood moon, it just takes longer than the alternatives
@@Billy_MacBillyYeah but you miss a major point here. Azuras ring grants constant fatigue regain and also you could fortify intelligence loop until you make a restore fatigue potion that lasts days or weeks. Not to mention spear and short blade put out attacks at ridiculous speeds by comparison to bigger weapons. At the end of the day you could use both short blades and spear or long blade and get you a 2 handed sword.
Spear of Bitter Mercy is also great to get asap (Sheogorath quest), it has 15-60 thrust for only 20 weight and comes with a summon storm attronach/reflect 30 sec enchant.
And you only have to deal the finishing blow to the netch with the fork, meaning you can deal 95% of its hp with spears and then stab wildly for like 2 minutes until it dies
I did this recently and it's so great, but a little disappointing that I won't be able to get anything better until the end of bloodmoon with hircines spear. still, felt great to get the best spear in the base game with my level 1 swamp newt 😂
My favorite early game spear is Illkurok. It’s a unique dwarven spear with constant effect 15 points night eye and 10 points fortify spear.
Where would I find it?
@@seanrosenau2088 Nchurdamz
@@seanrosenau2088 if you take the first fighter’s guild quest from the Sadrith Mora branch, it’ll lead you right to the dungeon where it is and give you a pretty solid companion NPC to help you clear the dungeon. I’d recommend playing as an Argonian if you’re going for it early because the boss is a daedroth and Argonians are immune to its powerful poison damage attack.
It’s my favorite quest in the entire base game. I’ll not spoil why.
@@talongreenlee7704Cool, thanks.
@@talongreenlee7704 HRELVESUU.!!!! IVE COME FOR YOU!!!!!
"...You come from a very fine swamp, very good with a spear..."
it's what you people do.
@@rightfulfuture4the ROYAL “you”
I don't know what azura was playing at making you an argonian, but I assume it's some kind of joke.
@@eyesack6845 No, I don't think argonians are jokes.
I’d love to see a Hand To Hand build. You can never have too much fun punching people to death
That second sentence is funny out of context.
I used to run an unarmored Khajiit specialized in hand-to-hand, alchemy, enchanting and acrobatics. It was fun as fuck zooming around the map beating the fuck out of everything.
Acrobat got spear and hand to hand it's sick
There is mod for doing damage with hand to hand that doesn't require you to damage stamina. I recommend it. But the old fashioned way of slowly killing someone might also be your style. I can appreciate that.
@@Maartwo I want to do short blade, hand-to-hand and marksman on my Agent/Acrobat character.
Honestly I see agility as more important than strength because early game hitting more often is more important than hitting harder.
I agree, and with lower damage you can hit more times and level up those skills faster. I'm going to remember this build when I do my multiplayer run. I want to do it unarmed and unarmored so that I can leave my sister with the best tank and warrior gear loot
But carry capacity, and longer fights mean more armor training.
Spear + speed + athletics build is just OP. Did it unarmored, just keep distance and sting 'em to death like a little bee
I was replaying this game after a decade and decided to go with Spear wielding conjurer. Holy moly I felt OP by level 5. I mean I know that anything in this game is basiucally OP by default, but man, imaginary pointy stick deals some REAL damage.
Let’s go! SUPER SPEAR NORDIC TANK is my favorite play style right now.
For anyone planning to raid Nammu, be sure to bring along some scrolls of Divine Intervention. Not only will it make getting back to Sadrith Mora (and from there a guild guide) much easier, but it will also allow you to rescue a very special prisoner found in the same cavern as the smuggler boss
You always manage to raise my excitement levels through the roof. I'm ready for a spear play through now.
Even though I am a seasoned player, I still watch your videos for fun. Loving the content.
Glad to hear I can keep it interesting enough for the vets 🙏 thanks for watchin!
Same
Same 😁
Wow! This video is very in-spear-ational! Its amazing how you can always get a new, different ex-spear-ience when playing morrowind!
Alright, I'll see myself out.
This is what UA-cam comments were made for 🤣
Spears get right to the point too! ...(I'll follow him out.)
Oh - BTW - Another 'permanent body' available for storage is Processus Vitelius (spelling?), the tax collector murdered just near to Seyda Neen your starting village.
A great Spear Build guide, Coffee! Thands so much!
I have never used a spear, but now you have intrigued me to try! Always played a Dunmer or Imperial, so will try other races also.
Dunmer are always a good choice, but variety is the spice of life! Enjoy!
For my Spear user, I went with an Argonian with a specialisation in magic. Primary attributes endurance and agility. Major skills; spear, medium armour, destruction, alchemy and unarmoured (you can't wear boots as a beast race). Minor skills: alteration, mysticism, enchant, speechcraft and mercantile. Star Sign: The Mage for extra magicka.
I'm playing him as a tanky spell caster, that uses a spear when his magicka runs out, or to fight the various aggressive animals in Vvardfell. Alchemy is going to net me a load of fortify potions, turning me from a Morrowind character into a Fallout character. And I'll be able create magic spears and armour to give myself an even greater edge. If I need to murder somebody, I'll be able to provoke them into attacking me, and I'll be able to get good prices from merchants. Well, that's the theory, and it's working out ok so far. I have issues with the damage from other mages, but I'll be dumping points into endurance at a healthy rate, so that won't last for long.
Brilliant i never thought to take unarmored as a beast race. (I usually play dark elf tho)
Really enjoy the effort you put into these guides. Nice job!
I appreciate that 🙏
I'm waiting patiently for that nightblade build
Spear is a really underrated weapon. Never realised how good it was until I started using it.
Thank you bro. I really wanted to do a spear playthrough and this guide really helped me out. Also that devil spear is amazing!
It's worth noting the Lady towersign is broken with OpenMW, and simply does not increase your health on level up in the slightest. It counts as a fortify endurance, which only boosts your fatigue. Which 4 attributes boost.
Yesterday I started Morrowind again after years. Your build is really great. This makes the game really fun from the first second! Thank you and best regards from Germany
Nice! Welcome back to Vvardenfell
This guide was great for when I inevitably restarted. For anyone wanting an endgame spear, you can get one by going under St. Delyn Canton into the sewers, and talking to a statue, then completing its quest of defeating a bull netch with a fork found in an Argonian's shack.
This is exactly what I need morrowind is so hard 😂😂 but it’s fun and the equip is so much more freedom it’s awsome thanks for the content coffenut!
Enjoy the build!
stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago been watching your vod's renewed my love for morrowind, i had it on the first xbox and beat it front and backwards.
Glad to hear it! Never a bad time to replay Morrowind
i’m going for my first ever play though of morrowind, was undecided on what way to play but i think i’ve found my perfect play style, great vid
Great stuff! I like ideas for different builds.
Playing argonian, unarmored, athletic, illusion, alteration, made me upset when spear was removed from other games. Very fun.
That one shot ahhhh one shot got me on floor😂😂😂😂😂
Very nice job coffee
Helpful video. I'm currently running a female Nord spear fighter with shortswords as backup. Nordic ringmail cuirass for medium armor and the Nordic fur plus leather bracers for light armor. That's the best combination to get her looking like a proper barbarian.
Sir, I love that Morrowind content.
We need more.
Thank you
For leveling up, use some poor weapons like chitin and iron spears and such, even and especially in later levels so you don't need to waste money on repairing valuable items. Also it is preferable to do as little damage as possible so do a swing with a chitin spear for example. More damage you do, more your weapon degrades and damage value doesn't raise your xp gain, only the fact that the hit connected counts. This way you can just beat up some kwamas with it to level up, and if you are really spice, train your restoration by healing your enemy kwama when it starts to get low so you can go on leveling up your melee.
even better, summon ancestral ghost and swing away with your iron spear.
I was looking for a spear build for my play through and this is PERFECT 😗👌
Thank you, this will be my first playthrough.
Never thought I'd see min max guides for Morrowind . Thank you sir.
it's more of a fun early-game focused guide. it's pretty far from a min-max, since Nords are vastly inferior to Orcs and Redguards in combat builds, Medium Armor is the worst at endgame, Acrobatics/Athletics as major skills will mess with attribute levelling, Mercantile is pretty pointless, Atronach is the better birthsign for tanking over Lady, and for the "nimble" playstyle Warrior or Thief would be more optimal than Lover. but when you min-max to that degree you can quickly kill your own fun.
Great video! Nice to reminisce, as an old-time player.
Always quality videos and also great music taste too.
Much appreciated!
Ah yes my beloved spear is finally getting some love. Also my fave race is actually viable for once lol. Argonians im this game get overlooked so much just because they dont get the boots of blinding speed its sad glad to see em get love for once
As an orc lover I feel you
One of my favorite builds was a Bosmer thief/acrobat using a spear. Late game it's unrivaled in how fun it is.
Jumping across entire rivers, spearing people like it's no one's business. Only wearing exquisite clothes ofc.
Then you become a werewolf and you will straight up jump across the map in minutes.
Randomly came across this guide and it looks fun, gonna boot the game up again.
Amazing stuff, thank you! Subbed
Sweet! Glad you enjoyed it 🤘
Thank you Coffee My Hero
Never understood the attack values of halberds. They should really be slash-based, based on their appearance. The glass halberd doesn't even have a pointy bit!
it's time to load my old argonian spearman(or spearreptile) and grab some more things to his pockets
Thank you, Sir
Thank you for the videos
I appreciate that. Thanks for checking em out!
In 2024 this guy makes content based on a 20+ years old game.
Respect ❤
Gothic 1/2 also needs this kind of love
i would love to see a spellsword type tutorial! always wanted to get into morrowing as my favourite type of character in other RPGs:)
Liking the build but am just wondering how the Strength/Endurance is going to play out during level ups since you need 10 skill ups for that +5 Attribute bonus. You could have left Acrobatics as misc skill and still be effective with it. I'm sorry, am just curious about it
Broooo!!! Thank you!!!!
I think I spend more time creating new characters in these games than actually getting far in them. So many great options
I was just considering a spear build and this was in my recommended. My pc listening to my thoughts again.
I hope they bring back spears for ES6 and let us use em with shields. I wanna live out my hoplite dreams
I'm a console pesent, was woundering. Is the "always use best attack" switch in the options menu a console option or is that in vanilla pc morrowind as well? (edited for punctuation)
argonian spear crit build was my fav ever, love these guys. Spears so broken witj that range tho
spears are really cool,my first character that was "succsseful" was a heavy armor nord, really cool skill
Have you ever grabbed the warehouse key on the shelf behind Sellus Gravius? Can steal it the same way as the Lime Platter. Just gotta be fast. The warehouse can roll some nice early loot, or more fodder for gold.
That 16 minute intro def killed this video
The different armor types slow you down a lot?
Also I dual-specced armor since I'm going multiple weapon classes. I've got medium and heavy armor specced, heavy for when he's fighting with the claymore, the battleaxe, the staff, medium armor for fighting with the spear, the saber, the shortsword, and something like a war axe or a club I'll mix and match, usually Native Bonemold pauldrons, greaves and boots and a Trollbone helm with no chest piece.
I'm going to try this after the Spell Sword hybrid, is there a custom build you could create and post about "Enchanters" roles are mesmerizing, charming, debuffing, weaker Direct Damage, and even weaker Damage over Time spell class would be really interesting to see your take and if viable
The King of Weapons shines!
honorable mention to the illuruk spear. the fortify spear 10 points makes it comparable to the bound spear. defiantly not the best but you wont have to cast it or worry about it running out mid fight. also with the night eye effect you could turn down your brightness and see morrowind grittier and just pull out the spear like a torch.
Thats definitely a an honorable mention. I was using that as a torch on a non-spear character for a while just for the novelty of it lol. It now sits in my loot museum in the Imperial Chapel in Ebonheart :)
I've had a lot of fun with an orc spear archer using the steed birthsign, male orcs are the fastest race due to having the highest weight so you take spear, marksman, light armour, acrobatics and athletics. Drink loads alcohol and go berzerk, never caring about the agility debuff from berzerk because nobody can hit you. xD
(Berzerk also works with marksman, wood elves are the worst race for an archer and that is a hill I will die on, their only bonus is an easier early game)
great beard dude👊
Every army used spears up into the 18th century. Spears were the king of the battlefield for a very, very long time
I’d love a night blade build!
The bound spear is awesome.
Ooo, my favorite weapon, and fanciest spear is ilkurk ✌️ but you can enchant the ebony spear the most for e.g. 70 fire damage on strike
Please do a blunt staff monk type build, im new to morrowind and want to try unique builds like that you cant really do in newer games but dont really know where to start
Spear go boop
I keep telling people, maybe you have thought of this as well, if people are concerned about loot when you are say using Heavy Armor or weapons there are ways around this.
You are typically going to have Teleport scrolls or something of that nature so have a loot spot at the start of a dungeon. You can make your light character even faster by doing this as well. When you are done, pick it all up (which will over encumber you) and simply teleport out.
People often loot the vaults this way. Apply it everywhere.
Spears were common in battlefields, up until the napoleonic Era. It was the most common battlefield weapon in history
Man now I need to try this biuld. Can You make similar video about maces :)
I plan to do every skill eventually - so much to cover in these games
Yes :D more love for spear and halberds!
0:06 What song is this? I know there is more to it and I think it's from a game
Always cracks me up the complaining about slaughterfish-when a simple water walking spell would solve the issue. 😂😂
Fast weapons with cast on strike enchantments do more dps than a slow, higher damage weapon. You can hit more often landing the spell more times.
Spear for the win baby
Argonian spearman was my first character way back in 2007 when I wanted to play Oblivion so bad but my Geforce 4000 had no shader support so I went to the next best thing (Morrowind). Eventually got the chance to play Oblivion but ended up enjoying Morrowind way more. Funnily enough the same thing happened with Fallout 3/Fallout 2.
The only ones I know who used spears, the Greeks and Romans, my friend the pointy stick is the most common weapon in every civilization
More love for Spears :D
nice to see the argonians receiving some love
Thank you! Even the lizards deserve some love 🦎
I’ve been enjoying all the Morrowind content with your fantastic commentary. Noticed you wear a lot of Dream Theater shirts, who do you prefer, Portnoy or Mangini?
Tough question... I think Portnoy had better feel on the drums and wrote the more memorable parts, so i would take Portnoy over Mangini overall. However, the feel of DT's music has changed so much over the years that I think Mangini is the best drummer for the sound they have today, despite not being my favorite.
@@CoffeeNutGaming Couldn’t have said it better myself. I definitely prefer Portnoy, but Mangini was perfect for Distance Over Time. Also I need to give spears a try in Morrowind, thanks for the build!
I'll spare you over 32 minutes and tell you straight how to spear: Pointy end goes into the enemy.
How did he make a daedric spear from the devil spear?
Before any new character even really leaves Seyda Neen, they should head north to the Samarys Ancestral Tomb to grab the Mentor's Ring. It's an artifact that fortifies both Intelligence and Willpower by 10, which is useful for any character (since more magicka is always useful and willpower helps increase the chances you will successfully cast and resist spells that hit you) and is pretty easy to get for a level 1 character. It's usually guarded by just a ghost and a bonewalker. It's in the urn at the end of the tomb.
I'm glad mysticism and illusion are there, so I can intervention and paralyze. Have to be the most useful.
115 AGI lv 1 Argonian, yup not busted at all! great video CoffeeNut!
Clearly not! Haha. Thanks for checking it out!
Yo, no warehouse key in the census house??

@@CoffeeNutGaming haha hell yeah! I ran fast brash "fuck yo couch" argonian spearman on my Xbox in 2002. I bet you and I are from the same graduating year. Gotta say I'm proud of you for what you do here. Jyea!
