Great guide as always. Marksman is one of the few classes I haven't dared touch just because the thought of missing an arrow seemed terrible. Can't wait to use these tips!
This might be kind of strange, but for a warrior/archer hybrid, I would recommend a Nord (especially male Nord). Male Nords have the second-highest weight in the game (only beaten by male Orcs). Weight is a multiplier on your movement speed, so you're faster than a Bosmer with the same Speed stat. For comparison, male Nords weigh 1.25 and male Bosmer weight 0.95. Endurance is great on every character and Nords start with high Endurance. High innate strength helps with ranged damage and starting health. Immunity to frost, resistance to lightning, huge armor spell every day, and a great frost damage spell for taking out ghosts early on. For your melee weapon, you get a bonus for either Axe, Blunt, or Spear. You also get a bonus to Medium Armor and Heavy Armor if you want to use one of them or you find a great piece of enchanted Medium/Heavy armor. For favored attributes you'll want either Luck/Agility and Endurance for max health possible, or Luck and Agility for the highest chance to hit. I almost always go for Luck because it is the hardest stat to increase and it is essentially all of the other stats (but cut in half) when it comes to dice rolls. I use magic on all my characters, even if it's a just little bit of Alteration, Conjuration, Restoration, or Mysticism so Luck is a good way of increasing my cast success rate early on without hurting my combat capabilities. It's especially helpful for Alchemy since it raises your chance of creating potions as much as Intelligence does for some reason. For Birthsign I would recommend Lady for Endurance and Personality, Lover for Agility and a huge Paralyze, or Atronach (for experienced players) to become a great anti-mage and anti-Daedra with a large Magicka pool for utility spells.
Fantastic, I just completed two play thrus, a dunmer Telvanni wizard and an Imperial Knight and I was just about to play a bosmer archer so your vid is right on time!
my favorite archer build was actually more of a spell sword but with bow instead of sword and I found magic and bows actually paired very well this game since touch based destruction is a lot cheaper to cast then ranged so I usually do not bother with ranged destruction unless I am a pure mage as a bow fills that roll a lot better with a lower magicka pool and it leaves more magic reserves for utility spells like waterwalking or levitate for getting up to those high places for better angles with the bow. It really does seem like a weird combination. Alteration and Mysticism (for utilities), Destruction and Marksman as well as long blade for those close quarters when magic is depleted. However this was probably my favorite build for as it better utilizes all the starting skills for Dunmer and was just all around really fun with how well rounded he was given the amount of choices I had for any combat situation the game threw at me and seemed a lot more genuine to how the Nerevarine would actually fight as he would be expected to be very resourceful with a well rounded skill set. Also as a side note you mention Athletics and speed as being important to consider and that may be true for a casual player but lets be honest. the second quest anyone completes or should complete (the first being obviously the stupid ring that the damn imperials stole from Fargoth) is getting the boots of blinding speed along with making a cheap 1 second 100 point resist magic spell for the blindness effect (50 point if breton as they already have 50pt resist, and altmer need a 150 pt resist to counter act their 50pt weakness but still doable at lvl 1)
Strength is a huge factor in archery. Half drawn and full draw are terms that apply to the style of shot archers make. But beyond that, a bow's "power" is measured in draw resistance. X amount of pounds draw refers to the amount of force required to draw the bow to its optimal draw curve. A 125 lb draw is a bow that requires a significant amount of force to properly fire (depending on the make of bow, compound bows make it a bit easier than recurve bows). 125 lb draw recurve bow is a workout to draw, and requires a fairly beastly human being to wield. The advantage of these heavy bows is that you can put more mechanical force behind the arrow, increasing the shots mass, velocity, and range. So it is not only logical, but realistic that a bow would require a fair bit of strength to wield, and stronger bowman would be able to wield heavier draws to apply more power to their shots.
I just started playing Morrowind on an original Xbox I bought, got the boots of blinding speed with the cheese to not be actually blind and now I’m just running around with a crossbow speeding past everyone!!! 😂😂😂😂 love this video and am super grateful for the build!
I loved this one in particular, as it's one of the few builds where you can actually make a case for dumping endurance, the attribute that you usually wanna be the priority in the early game, to focus on being a kinda ranged one punch man. And it's cool to know there are relatively easy to get early great items to support it. Marksman always felt like and underpowered and underdeveloped skill in Morrowind so I'm excited to give it another chance following this guide
There's also a really easy quest for a Daedric Longbow that you can do right away. Head south out of Balmora and keep heading south into the hills east of the river. Kind of southeast of that rope bridge near the shulk egg mine, there's a cave called the Vassir-Didanat Cave. Yes my directions are shitty, welcome to Morrowind. It's got two flame atronachs and a bunch of ebony in it, but if you then go to Vivec, head for St Olms, and go into the haunted manor, you can find Dram Bero behind a level 50 locked door. Tell him that you found the cave and he will give you your choice of daedric weapon. I hauled all the ebony back and forth and sold it to the altmer alchemist in Balmora one at a time so she'd have high disposition with me, then I told Dram Bero about it once the mine was played out. Suck my hist, slavers!
Instead of trekking through the boonies to that shrine, I'd recommend taking a 2 minute stroll out of Balmora to the Vassir-Didanat Ebony Mine, then take the Silt Strider to Vivec and speak to Dram Bero for the free Daedric Bow. It's objectionably the best option of all his weapon offers, since everything else can be dropped as random loot, but the bow cannot.
The vendor in ghostgate sells the best enchanted arrows in the game can get them off the rip, also the skeletons outside ald redayna have different arrow roles if you save before going on the big island
Supposedly when a bow says it does 1-x damage it means that when you fully draw the bow back it will do maximum damage every time and when you just tap fire it it wil do the 1 damage
I play basically only Argonians (I don't like playing other races). The downside to the Daedric bow, is the weight, it has a 10.5 rounded down to 10, enchantment points. Another option would be Auriel's Bow, which has the same damage, but only 16 weight. Sadly it only had 7 Enchantment Points (an 8 weight difference, can be quite a lot of arrows). But for the "best" bow when it comes to Enchantments it would be the Bonemold Longbow, it is cheap, light, with only a 1-20 lower damage (1-30), with 40 Enchantment points. Which by fun fact, is the second highest Enchantment points for weapons in game. The Highest going to Ebony Staff with 90. And since bows don't have the On Strike enchantments you can add an on use effect, or a small constant effect or two (Like Night's Eye + Slowfall 1). The Calculations are pretty simple really. First we have to know the Damage Multiplier Calculation from Str. This is simple 0.5 + Strength/100 = Multiplier. So with 50 Str we do 100% damage. With 100, we do 150% damage. Now how it calculates the damage for Bows and Arrows, it only adds the Multiplier to Bows in this case (Same with crossbows and bolts, only the Crossbow gets the multiplier). A Daedric Longbow, will always do Max Damage with a fully drawn bow, so with 1x multiplier 50 damage. With 100 str, this will be 75 damage. Then we add the additive damage of Arrows of 10-15 of Daedric Arrows, that means we have 90 total damage with a fully drawn bow. The Dwemer Crossbow deals 30-30 damage, 45-45 with 100 Str. The Orcish Bolt adds another 1-6 damage. But that means you can't rapid fire it (Which is what most people does), so a better option would be silver bolts with a 3-3 damage. Making it either 46-51 damage or 48-48 damage as total damage. In the aspect of DPS, the Dwemer Crossbow, can fire roughly twice for every 1 fully drawn shot for the Daedric Longbow. However, a Sneak attack with a Daedric longbow will do 112 rounded down, +15 from Arrow for a total of 127 damage *if* it is at full Durability and you have 100 str. And for a Dwemer Crossbow this will be 67-67 rounded down +1-6 or +3-3 for a total of either 68-73 or 70-70 in total. Conclusion: If you want raw DPS with quick clicking Dwemer Crossbow wins. If you want Raw Damage, that Scales better with your Str Daedric Longbow. (With a 250 Str, it will do 6-150 damage which in turn with sneak attacks 1.5 multiplier is 225, so you don't even need to get super huge Str to make it start 1 shooting the higher level enemies) Also fun fact: With a base of 5 Marksman, +15 from Woodelf, +25 from Major Skill, +5 from Stealth Specialization, you get a total of 50 Marksman which is the highest you can get. And if you take Agility + Luck as your favourite attributes with the Lover Birthsign you get 85 Agility and 50 Luck. This will give you a 72% chance to hit with bows and crossbows. (Weapon Skill + Agility/5 + Luck/10 = Chance to Hit) Another fun Fact: With Agility 100, and Luck 100, you get a total of 30% chance to hit, on all weapons.

The Lady is another good starting sign for a Marksman build. You're going to need HP to survive against ranged opponents, so the +25 Endurance is great. Likewise, you're going to want to fence everything you steal, and +25 Personality will help you get better prices at merchants. Glad you're enjoying the content! This was definitely an issue on my older videos but has been corrected in the last few months. Thanks for stopping by the channel 👍
It's probably the swimming side of athletics that's lending them that bonus, but its quite an oversight that swimming and move speed are tied into the same thing, given their bowleggedness.
I ve played once ambusher type argonian character with bow, spear, summons, alteration, athletics, no armour. He sucked for a very long time, but when i ve reached 72 lvl, i was about slay all the cities with daedric bow and summoned minions. 😂
Due to the cap of 85 on initial attributes you wasted 5 agility. Getting 10 luck is basically 10 to everything apart from Endurance. So you'd be better at hitting and damaging stuff with luck.
I'm not sure where to go you jump cutted way to much and idk where the place is for the deadline bow.other wise really good video I love these videos man(edit)I personally found it easier to go to kruul then head south but I'm sure there's another way
actually the Orc is the best archer. there racial power gives 100% hit chance at the cost of agility. but that's OK, bow damage doesn't scale with agility. it scales with strength and orcs have the highest! and because your shooting at range you won't be getting constantly stunned from having no agility! This renders having archery and agility completely useless lol.
Liking your videos a lot, but I keep having to put my phone brightness to around 4-5 times it's normal level to be able to see anything. Like, it's hurting my eyes now that the video is over. So, a recommendation I would have is to brighten things up in editing. At least for Morrowind.
never understood why bows use dex for damage in games. bows should use str for damage. and dex for precision. warbows require alot of force to be drawn.
You've convinced my mongoloid brain to retry morrowind. I've been wanting to but the amount of STUFF just overwhelms me more than elden ring Nevermind I'm overwhelmed again. I'll just watch you
Hope you're ablen to give it another chance sometime! I felt the same way for a long time, I'd play for like 2 hours and then stop but just last year I finally sunk in the time to learn and play it and it was very fun. I've been a souls player for over a decade and morrowind stumped me harder than any of those games ever had, but similar to dark souls/elden ring, once you find your bearings you'll have a lot of fun
the only thing i would really change in you custom class is your choice of including security as a minor skill. this is probably the most useless skill as Alteration gives you an open spell and you can create a custom 100 pt spell that opens anything and Alteration gives you freaking levitate which for an archer is the single best spell better then sanctuary as it allows you to position yourself literally anywhere, you do not even need terrain as you make your own. But that is the only thing i would change .Alteration instead of security and maybe destruction instead of acrobatics as the latter is not really needed either with alteration as again levitate exists and destruction gives you more close quarter offensive capabilities along with your spear/longblade and if you have spare magicka then use it. Alteration should be used by any class, even barbarian. Have you seen an orc swinging a giant battleaxe around while literally flying around splitting peoples heads open in the battle field?

(With a 250 Str, it will do 6-150 damage which in turn with sneak attacks 1.5 multiplier is 225, so you don't even need to get super huge Str to make it start 1 shooting the higher level enemies)
Also fun fact:
With a base of 5 Marksman, +15 from Woodelf, +25 from Major Skill, +5 from Stealth Specialization, you get a total of 50 Marksman which is the highest you can get.
And if you take Agility + Luck as your favourite attributes with the Lover Birthsign you get 85 Agility and 50 Luck. This will give you a 72% chance to hit with bows and crossbows.
(Weapon Skill + Agility/5 + Luck/10 = Chance to Hit)

I’m glad you have these vids sectioned
You can actually barter with his and get more than 418 gold for the limewear platter. I got 463 gold just so you know so you don't lower his disp. You can also just take more stuff that's on the table with the dagger like the silver pitchers and sell that for an extra 144 gold. I have the 87+463+144 and now have 694 gold before leaving the start on my first ever morrowind playthrough😂
Like watching Morrowind content just because I love the game. Looking forward to more. Only criticism I have is your audio seems quite low. In order to hear you I really have to crank the volume compared to other channels. Just FYI.
Glad you're enjoying the content! This was definitely an issue on my older videos but has been corrected in the last few months. Thanks for stopping by the channel 👍
Wonderful video man, I laughed so hard. Instant fan 👍
These are amazing!! How did I just find these!
nice dream theater shirt 🤘🤘
Also you can wait for the dark brother hood to attack you to get there set
Magic bows, magic armor. Spicy
Hop toad is the beastly land travel bring healing but cover ground fast.
Well, time to go sneak attack Fargo- wait what do you mean there's no sneak attack bonus?
Nice shirt
Excellent video. And awesome Dream Theater tee
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! And always gotta rep the bois when I can 👌
Very nice build. Thank you.
🙃☕❤❤❤
Argonians do not walk like a race with + 15 Athletics...
It's probably the swimming side of athletics that's lending them that bonus, but its quite an oversight that swimming and move speed are tied into the same thing, given their bowleggedness.
Your audio levels are low. Glad there are subtitles!
I'm surprised you have under a thousand subscribers.
Sick video, thanks.
Any lore to that tree stump? Like, does a quest or npc mention it?
Doesn't using acrobatics/athletics as a major/minor skill make it harder to level efficiently?
Always love the jump cut so I can't follow where to go so I Wonder about like a dip thanks
I ve played once ambusher type argonian character with bow, spear, summons, alteration, athletics, no armour. He sucked for a very long time, but when i ve reached 72 lvl, i was about slay all the cities with daedric bow and summoned minions. 😂
dope amorphis shirt
Thanks!🤘
What game is that midi music playing in the background? Dragon warrior maybe?
Amorphis and dream theater mentioned
I felt so represented in this video, I'm an archer in real life, I am short, and I only have 8 arrows 🤣
This character build looks as if it will make efficient levelling really difficult?
i really like luck as archer. it is monastery to make it to 100 but once you are there it is worthy.
You look like captain America if he was a imperial
Due to the cap of 85 on initial attributes you wasted 5 agility. Getting 10 luck is basically 10 to everything apart from Endurance. So you'd be better at hitting and damaging stuff with luck.
Can't find me way to the best bow , you cut to a cliff racer attacking you , midway in the video so I'm searching mountains near by
Same
I'm not sure where to go you jump cutted way to much and idk where the place is for the deadline bow.other wise really good video I love these videos man(edit)I personally found it easier to go to kruul then head south but I'm sure there's another way
The ruins are called Maelkashishi. You can click view map at the link below and see where it is: en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Maelkashishi
Exactly. The info is helpful but the guide is a nightmare. Honestly terrible. Just one of the only ones available.
Fun game! If you invest enough time? You can be whatever you want to be! You can be be dangerous hand to hand gamer in this game! 😂
How do you kill the crossbow guy without alerting his allies??
it is better to get race that do not fit to your class, because you can get higher level for end
Have u tried the hardcore mod ?
actually the Orc is the best archer. there racial power gives 100% hit chance at the cost of agility.
but that's OK, bow damage doesn't scale with agility. it scales with strength and orcs have the highest!
and because your shooting at range you won't be getting constantly stunned from having no agility!
This renders having archery and agility completely useless lol.
Cool, so stopping every minute to rest 24 hours. Sounds fun
@@zane01235 in openmw engine it literally takes a second lol.
what song at the beginning? 0:25
i love how morrowind is hardcore
Liking your videos a lot, but I keep having to put my phone brightness to around 4-5 times it's normal level to be able to see anything. Like, it's hurting my eyes now that the video is over. So, a recommendation I would have is to brighten things up in editing. At least for Morrowind.
Now Playing >> "DJ Snake, Lil Jon - Turn Down for What"
Dream Theater is the best music band ever, btw.
never understood why bows use dex for damage in games. bows should use str for damage. and dex for precision.
warbows require alot of force to be drawn.
29:28 If only there was a quick and easy exploit in the game that lets you dupe any item...
lol if you think being a wood elf feels short play one in vr
Adding this to my weekend to-do
Also do a guide for how to play the game in 2023/24
Hey, you aren't H. Jon Benjamin!
Your video volume is kind low, just saying.
I noticed that too. I'll fix it in the next ones 👍
Law of what ??? 25:08
10 seconds guide level up bow skill get bow get arrows start shooting thats it
This is the proper way to do it.
I feel weird for saying this, but boy does it annoy me that you fight right handed with melee but shoot left handed for archery.
Dream theater.
You've convinced my mongoloid brain to retry morrowind. I've been wanting to but the amount of STUFF just overwhelms me more than elden ring
Nevermind I'm overwhelmed again.

Idk man but you gotta turn ur audio up. Your videos are so quiet compared to all the other videos i watch.
Yeah - it was a problem on my older videos. Fixed in the new ones
@@CoffeeNutGaming 🙏
Orc.
No, seriously. Berserk applies to ranged attacks as well.
... looks like someone missed to loot Tarhiel! :D

the only thing i would really change in you custom class is your choice of including security as a minor skill. this is probably the most useless skill as Alteration gives you an open spell and you can create a custom 100 pt spell that opens anything and Alteration gives you freaking levitate which for an archer is the single best spell better then sanctuary as it allows you to position yourself literally anywhere, you do not even need terrain as you make your own.
The fact that you can get the best bow in the game at the very start completely ruined the game for me😢😢
why are your videos so quiet?
My first playthrough was archer it was ridiculusly strong in the outer areas.
Get alchemy
This video was useful until 20:15
It's sort of jumped ahead and now I don't know where I'm going.
owo
This dude really hates almsivi scrolls....
This man has a terrible way of pronouncing things, but he gives good tips
Not really a how to...
its not a good starting guide because by getting daedric bow this early almost all progression will be ruined. Maybe power gaming guide
