@@LinesSensei I have mentioned it in the discord but, if you could cover expressions that would be awesome. its one of the areas i don't see covered much. its also the area im struggling the most with right now
Where has this guy been all my life?! Great art, comprehensive useful explanations and visualization. One of the best tutorial channels i have ever seen!
You are an excellent teacher. This is one of the best hair tutorials I've seen, and I've watched a ton. Maybe that's not much coming from a guy with a Joker face paint pfp, but... 😂
This man's timing is immaculate. I thought this was a random youtube recommendation because I was just watching a bunch of "how to hair" Videos and then out of left field the sub box delivered ❤️
I struggle with hairstyles because my favorite characters to draw all have weird hairstyles. I can use this as the guideline to apply to them. Thank you Sensei, as always.
Ok I have been watching a lot of tutorail art channels, this channel is super useful because there are only so few "anime" style english channels that go this indepth, thanks!
Recently I started to level up really quickly with my drawings but hair still gives me trouble although I improved a bit so this is much needed tutorial also love the 30min+ format
Thank you, that's great to hear. And I'm glad you liked the slightly longer format. a lot of people want them longer a lot of people want them shorter but this seems to be an OK middle ground
I am loving this series of guides. and how distracted lines gets sometimes mid drawing. still behind on the lessons due to my game engine taking priority over lessons, but I'm sketching on paper every few days to figure out the shapes of things.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked them. And I promise I get a lot more distracted than you see here I just forgot to edit that one out before I did the voice recording. Also don't feel pressured to get anything done at any particular time if you come back to it in a week, a month a year, that's great I'm just happy to be part of your drawing journey. let us know how you go
@LinesSensei thank you. I am not pressured to keep up, but I do pressure myself to not regress while I do things that require a long time focus. And I do want to feed the algorithm for this amazing channel.
I learned more from the first 20 mins of this video than I did from 2 hours of other creators. Thank you for spelling everything out and explaining the physics behind it. It really helps complete noobs like me.
Hey Sensei. I wanted to give you a huge thanks. Your tips have really propelled my figure drawing much further and I've gotten addicted to art again. Really loving your channel!
NO WAY This is what I needed for so long! As you can tell by my pfp, I wasn’t always good at drawing hair, but this time I’m really going to try to master this!
I'm a new subscriber, just saw your video randomly in my feed and now I am currently watching your videos on loop while I'm drawing. You give me back passion in drawing sir! I hope you continue to prosper with this channel, and I will always wait for your new uploads. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It really helps a lot!
Thank you so much for blessing my art playlist with this masterpiece of a tutorial. Always wanted to improve how I drew hair, but struggled with other videos. This helps me break it down the best
awroijatoij I've been looking for a good hair tutorial all week, thank you so much. Your video on faces has been a godsend for me, keep on cooking sir!
I've been practicing art for 2 months and was applying this tutorial in my most recent piece, I got good results but then I totally forgot the video was playing and kept it as background because your voice was so soothing lol
So to be honest on one hand I HATE YOU for how easily you are doing it :-) It makes me wanna screen FCK it. On the other hand those are the best videos on YT in this subject and I am forever grateful. Great job.
Thank you so much! This came at just the right time when last night I was practicing drawing hair and figuring out how to get perfect lineart with it. I think with the homework i will get better and faster at it ❤
Excellent I hope the homework works out well for you. We have a discord you can drop it in and share it with other students there's been a lot of really good examples of hair that people have drawn and I'd love to see yours as part of it
If you're already quite good and it sounds like you are, then this may be a little bit too beginner for you but hopefully there'll be some part of it you can use in your workflow
I have been really struggling yesterday with my drawing and was pretty annoyed. I discovered your channel today and I feel like I already made much more progress on heads. I imagine this channel will explode in popularity if you keep up the good work
This was a really good tutorial I appreciate your videos. The illustration came out amazing and I being a seasoned artist will incorporate some of these skills into my work.
would like to see a video on the "ara ara" body shape. most of your drawings seem to use a more child-like body type. Was very interested in seeing you lay out a more adult stylized body type here. great video as always - thanks a lot
I hope this works well for you , for very very curly hair that one I plan to cover off later since it's so much more challenging than these more simple hairstyles I didn't want to overload more beginner artists
I've just been chatting about that very thing this morning with a few of the students on the discord, so hopefully it'll be in the next few videos and I'll have a lot of really excellent input included in it
Thank you, that's wonderful to hear. I'm glad you're getting over your burnout, and if you do have works you'd like to share I'd love to see them on the discord if you feel like putting them up there
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I struggle so damn much when drawing the hair! Could you do a tutorial on how to draw the mouth some day? I struggle a lot with that too
I think it would be nice to show how to use some of the widely available hair brushes (which are just normal brushes with an outline) in the workflow when drawing hair.
That's not a bad idea at all, there are some very powerful tools out there not just for hair. So I do plan to explore a lot of those very handy time-saving tools in some later videos
no way , i was just looking for something like this , ty. btw this is only a suggestion , since you just started your channel and for someone such as i , that just started drawing , like this is my first time actually picking up my graphic tablet , you should do more simplified topic like , exercises on doing more confident lines , or super simplified eyes? idk , (like on your female body tutorial i could not do the the simple eye sketch, even tho i was just a circle )???
I'm looking for study video to make me sleepy so I can sleep but this one makes me straight up take my pencil to draw with the guide and it really helps me improvw😂
They can , and more extreme differences will require more extreme adaptation. Or even just straight up abandoning it if it isn't suiting the drawing you're trying to make.
I noticed the blue part adds volume to the hair and wonder the reason you didn't add the blue part on the fourth drawing was because the red part already added volume? Also, I really seem to get lost in ribbons, and mines to seem right. Could you draw more ribbons but slowly?
So that is an excellent question. Not all hairdos will have all three sections. For example someone who just has a mohawk on top will not have any here at the back. Similarly someone who has their hair tied back in a very severe bun will have only here at the back and only a bun. I hope that helps
Never before have I thought of the hair as a road full of drunk drivers.
LMAO SAME
Bro that's weird yet it somehow makes sense.
A hair tutorial that has homework and actually explains how hair works ? Am I living the artist's dream ? Your channel is amazing bro keep it up !
Thank you, I'll do my best
I dont get how your tutorials are soo good, bro came out of nowhere and gives the best lessons i have ever found
I know!, I kinda feel like these videos should be paid XD but I'm grateful they're free.

i have fallen in love with art again just because of this guy !!!
That's probably the biggest compliment an artist could receive tbh
Jesus this guy is too good, even thise doodle with the hair all looked like they could be their own fully realized OCs
That's very nice of you to say. My goal there was to characterise the heads with the hair so I'm glad that that helped them feel like characters

His voice is seriously weirdly really calming. In a way, it’s almost like asmr, and his voice sounds like one of someone who reads out audiobooks
It's my voice, and the weirdest thing is listening to my own videos before I publish them often sends ME to sleep. I'm not sure if that's good or not
"oh cool ! a hair tutorial by this guy who's a really good teacher !"
"oh... i am now in love with blond pixels"
😊
I’ve been wanting to improve how I draw hair recently; my prayers have been answered! Thank you, Lines-sensei! 💜
It would be great to see a lesson on drawing creases on clothing and other details. Thank you for your lessons!
That's a great idea, and that's one of the next few on the horizon so stay tuned!

Do these rules generally translate to any type of hair - like if I decided to make a character with dreads or something?
