Thanks for the shoutout for my question at the 5:00 minute mark and the clarification! By the way, in my name, CHGO is the abbreviation for Chicago. :)

Also worth noting that the UK is also due to bring out a similar system called the ETA, which will be similar to ETIAS, so Americans travelling Europe who also want to visit Britain, will need to apply for ETIAS and ETA separately.
Only Irish Citizens will be exempt from both the ETA and ETIAS requirements, but one or both will eventually apply to everyone else travelling between the UK and EU.

Can I please get clarification about 90/180. I am under the belief that you can come to Italy for 90 days. US passport. Leave Italy, the EU, and come back in another 90 days. It is a rolling 180 days. Please advise. I can't seem to get the same answer.

If someone is traveling Internationally from outside of the EU and has a stopover in a EU Counrty and their Flight gets delayed or canceledand for them being able to finish their flight which would end outside of the EU and they have to find a place to sleep overnight for their next flight and it is at a Hotel that is off of the Airport Grounds? Due to this type of situation then would someone still need to apply for the ETIAS if their Stopover is the Only point that they would be in the EU?

What happens if you apply for one 'first country' for an expected first entry but to make a connecting flight and something changes after application? ie. if you book a flight from the US to Venice with a connection in Zurich but it ends up getting changed to a flight through Munich. Is it really about your destination or your first entry?

Interested to get your take on the 90/180 day Schengen rule. Brits with houses in France and Spain are up in arms over it, and even the Spanish government doesn't like it as it hurts the tourism economy. Also, as the Schengen area continues to expand, each new country benefits at the cost of the others as the 90/180 days inevitably gets spread over more countries, reducing tourism revenue in the rest of the zone. Surely, this wasn't the intent of this strange rule? Also, I imagine many Schengen citizens would be up in arms if other popular countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the US, etc implemented a similar scheme based on the principle of reciprocity, a concept enshrined in Italian law since the days of Mussolini.

Even though the U.S. technically doesn’t have a 90/180 restriction, you still are not allowed to clock reset, as in spending 90 days in the U.S. and leaving to come back very shortly afterwards.
Americans and Australians attempting to live in the UK under the radar have been known in the past to book a cheap Ryanair flight to Dublin and back to London on the same day, to get an Irish stamp in their passport to make it look like they had left the UK when in reality they where doing it avoid being flagged as a 6 month overstayer, immigration officers in Dublin have now cracked down on this by refusing them entry and alerting UK immigration.
