    I made a video about this back in 2019, when they were saying it would take effect in January 2021. So I'll believe it's real when I see it. 😛 That's good to hear that it has been pushed back once again to 2025. Fun fact: tomorrow is my 90th day in the Schengen zone, so I'm catching a flight from Sardinia to London. Congrats on your channel Nora, looks like you've been having some success. 👍✌

      Hey Gabriel! Yeah you're right about the delays. I finally made this video when it looked like Jan 2024 was the last of the delays, and then just this week it got postponed again. GAH! (Hence the text overlays saying "2025" - ha ha)
      You've been an inspiration to me in my newfound commitment to my channel. Thanks for being awesome!
      Enjoy London :-)

      @@NoraDunn Hello Nora & THANKS for ALL the work you do to create & post your enjoyable, informative content.
      In September of 2025. I'll travel to Ireland. My Condor Airlines Flight will connect with Lufthansa in Frankfurt. Then,
      direct to Dublin. While waiting for my Lufthansa Flight, I have NO INTENTION of exiting The Frankfurt Airport.
      QUESTION: In your opinion, will I be required to be ETIAS approved...if I remain in the airport?
      From what I understand, international airports are considered a "free zone" & travelers who remain inside the airport
      are exempt from these new regulations.
      For what it's worth, I'm an American Citizen & my Condor Flight will depart from Cancun, Mexico; direct to Frankfurt.
      I sincerely appreciate your attention & wait for your reply.

    Sounds like a USA ESTA the rest of us apply for travel to the USA, but cheaper. No big deal.
    For the avoidance of doubt, EU citizens in non-Shengen countries listed such as Cyprus and Ireland do not require any documentation or ETIAS for travel throughout the EU, as their passport or approved ID card will suffice. This also applies to citizens of Northern Ireland who hold an Irish passport, despite Northern Ireland being part of the UK. (Confused? To me the challenge with ETAIS is airline tickets that are non-refundable. So I would want to have travel authorization before booking flights and then I'd have to see if flights are still affordable/available. That probably means no travel two-three months after approval. It would be very helpful to be able to apply well before I plan to travel. The alternative would be travel insurance which is pretty expense and I'm not sure it covers an EITAS refusal.

    • @NoraDunn
      @NoraDunn  Рік тому +2

      They even recommend that you apply at least a month before your departure. You will be able to apply earlier but of course that shortens the remaining validity period after that first voyage. Your ETIAS will be valid for 3 years or less if your passport expires before.
      I don't think any insurance will be willing to cover ETIAS refusal as you should know (or are able to find out) if you are legible for ETIAS or not.

      I'm not Irish, and i have zero problems travelling into and through the eu... Just like the Russian woman i was talking to on the ferry from St Petersburg to Helsinki 10 years ago, who was travelling to Berlin, but chose the quickest, easiest way out of Russia and into Schengen, where she could then travel freely.
      I guess that like all anti brexit pro eu extremists, you thought that the eu awarded you the right to travel freely, when the actual fact, is that the eu pillar you refer to, is the 'free movement of labour'. And it isn't for your benefit. It exists for the big multinational businesses to move HQ staff around departments in different eu countries. And was then used to move cheap labour en masse from the east to western europe, to keep wages suppressed. But it's cute that you think the eu is a good and successful thing. It's main success is the erosion and destruction of democracy... So i wonder what that says about its supporters?

      Yes.
      The UK and Republic of Ireland have 'the common travel area', which is basically a smaller version of schengen, just between our 2 countries.
      It is because of this common travel area, that the Republic of Ireland can't join Schengen itself... To join Schengen, they would need to leave our common travel area, and set up a proper hard border with the UK. They probably wouldn't do that, as the Irish make massive use of what is called 'the land bridge', polluting England and Wales with hundreds (maybe a thousand) of lorries everyday, driving across us, to get from the Irish sea to the English channel or North sea.

    • @AndrewKNI
      @AndrewKNI Рік тому

      @@amateurcameraman The UK is to introduce its own ETA at some point. The Common Travel Area (between Ireland/UK) protects citizens resident in Ireland (an EU member but not Schengen) from needing to apply for ETA if travelling to Northern Ireland or Great Britain. • @amateurcameraman

      @@AndrewKNI it works the other way too. The ESTA is a schengen policy. Ireland not being able to be in Schengen, whilst still in our common travel area, means anyone travelling from the UK to ROI won't need at ESTA.
