true, i can't think of many other casting choices for an iconic character in a movie tbh, like maybe Leo for Wolf of Wallstreet, or Jack Nicholson in Shining. Shoutout also to Tom Hardy for his role in Bronson, a very underrated performance in my opinion. Now you could ofc always go with Stallone for Rambo or Rocky, or Arnie for Terminator, Bruce Willis for the Die Hards but those became iconic more because of the type of movie they were in not because their acting was particularly masterful in itself.

Boy do I agree with that! The movie is an absolute gem, Toby McGuire being left behind by his parents totally broke my heart. And Chris Cooper as the horse trainer, incredible! Let’s not forget Seabiscuit himself. Totally love this movie!

The story is kind of crap but everything else... man! The Daft Punk Score! The visuals! The symbolism (e.g. Clue's speech to his army mirrors Flynn's speech in the real word). The acting was also pretty good for this type of film.
I don't care what anyone says, it's a nearly perfect sequel. The writing is amazing. I can feel the sadness and I betrayed feeling in CLU. I can feel the understanding and guilt in Flynn. Sure there are a couple of things that are kind of silly, like the bar scene, but doesn't matter because I could watch this movie a hundred times. Probably have actually. I feel like people who talk negatively about this movie don't really "get" it. Like there's an underlying quality right beneath all the visuals and music.
In 1976 I was working in a cinema in Lausanne Switzerland when the de Laurentis version of King Kong came out. I saw it probably 20 times dubbed in French. At the time I had no idea that Jeff Bridges - only a few years older than me - would become one of my favorite actors. Interviews like this only strengthen my appreciation. Bridges is a real gentleman, making others feel comfortable and sharing the credit with not just other actors but everybody involved.
What I love about The Dude is that he seems so out of it the whole time, but he really is the only person putting all the information together in a rational way through the whole movie. He's really observant and clever, he's just, like, you know, The Dude, man.

That was 30 years ago next year and I still credit Sally Field, James Caan, and Jeff Bridges for saving my life.
Great interview--as others have noted, he's such a down-to-earth, humble, genuine, likable guy. I'm just disappointed they didn't talk about my favorite Jeff Bridges movie, "Tucker: The Man and His Dream." He plays a stylish, smooth-talking 1940s auto maker--totally opposite stylistically vs. The Dude. This guy has some serious acting chops!
Jeff Bridges is a critically acclaimed actor/thespian and super cool dude! His father and fellow actor/thespian the late, great; Lloyd Bridges(God bless his soul). Brother Beau Bridges is a great actor/thespian as well.
I love that he gets hooked and drawn into the Big Lebowski when it's on! It is one of those movies for me! I never get tired of it. Love the characters, they are all perfect! 😁
I think I would rather they do this series about these great actors' WORST movies! They would have to do Blown Away for Bridges here. That was good but it was also terrible.
I remember seeing Starman and being impressed with it, for the same reason that I appreciated Enemy Mine. Both are great love stories, with the idea being that love transcends species. It's also similar to Powder: both are about an exceptional person who conveys something mystical and elevates those around him.
Starman is a great movie, one of my favorites. Same with Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, which had one of the saddest endings ever. Last Picture Show was great too.
I don't know that I've ever seen a more down to earth, humble actor interview. He doesn't know his greatness. The other "lead" actors in films I hope we're like oh my god I'm working with Jeff Bridges.

He plays a stylish, smooth-talking 1940s auto maker--totally opposite stylistically vs. The Dude. This guy has some serious acting chops!
Crazy Heart, love that Movie. Along with anything else Jeff Bridges has done. What a phenomenal actor.
😃😁🖒🖒
I love this man so much. A national treasure.
such a genuinely nice guy and great actor. hope to see more films with him in soon.
Down to earth, humble, and very likeable. God the man has aged like fine wine.
Jeff Bridges, rocking that shirt.
Alexander Paterson I know right! Didn’t think I could pull off pink but I think it works
A bit disappointed that The Fabulous Baker Boys wasn't mentioned, that one is a hidden gem.
Agree
Great movie
That was where he stared with his bother. an incredible acting family.
Yesssss....I agree!!
Me too... It was such a beautiful film... And his performance...
When he talks about the Coen Brothers movies being like music. I have seen this about their scripts! I love it. The tempo of the dialog is wonderful.
How can anyone not love this man; an absolute legend.
Starman. Most nuanced performance but Jeff is aces in everything.
I saw starman in the theater back in the 80's by myself at age 7. I had a level of independence that made me feel like a king!!
Jeff Bridges is a critically acclaimed actor/thespian and super cool dude!
His father and fellow actor/thespian the late, great; Lloyd Bridges(God bless his soul). Brother Beau Bridges is a great actor/thespian as well.
7:51 is when he starts talking about the dude
Zachery Abrams the whole video deserves respect you ignoramus!
Jeff's voice is so calming and relaxing. I could listen to him talk about movies and acting all day!
I love that he gets hooked and drawn into the Big Lebowski when it's on! It is one of those movies for me! I never get tired of it. Love the characters, they are all perfect! 😁
The most underrated/hidden gem movie of all time: Arlington Road with Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins.
Daniel Stone - solid, solid flick. Love it when the bad guys win.
Yep....even K- Pac
Is that the one where he’s the IRA bomber?
And a movie similar to that, "Blown Away" with Tommy Lee Jones, and his dad, Lloyd
Tron Legacy is one of my favorite movies of all time. The soundtrack that Daft Punk made for it is straight FIRE
right??? it got criticized so heavily for it's pace but i absolutely loved it
Both Tron films are in my Top 5.
TRON Legacy was very good! I wish they had filmed TRON 3 at the same time so the Disney Suites couldn't back down.
It really is, yo but I read Ready Player One while listening to Tron Legacy. It works soo well.
I just wished Disney made a third film instead of making the boring Tomorrowland.
They forgot about Against All Odds, Wild Bill, Jagged Edge, and American Heart. This dude is extremely modest sounding in this video.
Winter Kills is a forgotten Bridges movie
@@alexroyster182 Cutter's Way too
Cutters way! Yep another great one.
+Jack Gattanella I would love to hear him talk about Cutters Way
I think I would rather they do this series about these great actors' WORST movies! They would have to do Blown Away for Bridges here. That was good but it was also terrible.
Such an honor to share set with this legend… and he even said “good morning” to me two days ago during filming The Old Man…
I've always loved the entire Bridges family. Everyday genuine people. No pretense.
He is definitely one of my favorite actors. I loved “Jagged Edge” and “Fabulous Baker Boys”, too.
Hello 👋 Julie w/s
How are you doing happy New Years
Jeff Bridges needs to make a buddy comedy with Kurt Russell, every movie they touch turns into gold.
ricky Hyppa I’m not much of an actor but I’d love to meet him
You know Jeff Bridges also was in a great movie called The Fisher King with Robin Williams
As a younger guy I had kind of written Jeff Bridges off as not being a serious actor. This film showed me he can really act! Been a fan ever since,
My favorite movie of all time, it's unforgivable that the interviewer failed to bring it up.
one like that gets away...such a great film.
One of my all-time favorite actors. He's also very nice and down to earth, he's somebody I would like to know as a friend.
I remember seeing Starman and being impressed with it, for the same reason that I appreciated Enemy Mine. Both are great love stories, with the idea being that love transcends species. It's also similar to Powder: both are about an exceptional person who conveys something mystical and elevates those around him.
Jeff is a National Treasure really
Gavin Reddig aww thanks! I appreciate it
Starman is a great movie, one of my favorites. Same with Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, which had one of the saddest endings ever. Last Picture Show was great too.
...Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, which had one of the saddest endings ever... made me cry ¦0(
Nice to see an actual icon talking about his iconic roles for a change, hes been acting since 1960.
Best hair in Hollywood or anywhere for that matter. Hands down.
Yeah not a lot of guys can pull off the combed straight back look without looking like a complete weirdo
I don't know that I've ever seen a more down to earth, humble actor interview. He doesn't know his greatness. The other "lead" actors in films I hope we're like oh my god I'm working with Jeff Bridges.
