Congratulations on your new job. What a great way to begin a new year. You look happy. I enjoyed listening to your diary of fragrances. I love how you have all these decants. Maybe you're the one that turned me onto constantly buying 2 - 5ml decants. There are so many fragrances from designer and niche houses. Honestly, it's rare that I say something is full bottle worthy -- not at $200 - $400+. Maybe the prices are going up in the same way there are runs on the bank. People cannot keep buying all these fragrances -- especially the over-hyped super expensive niche ones. I am noticing more and more discount shops, decants and a growing number of decluttering videos. The perfume trend is growing, but I don't think people have a big tolerance for the Prices. We're seeing more and more dupes. The Middle East is stepping up the quality of its offerings. Even Clemence had to admit Yara by Lattafa was nice especially at $20. So I think the prices will go up, but the perfume houses will cheat and on the down low make perfumes available at lower prices on the gray market. A lot of people still don't know about discount houses. They're still trying to learn about basic designer fragrances.
I agree about Dior. I feel their glory days are gone. I thought things might become more interesting with Francis Kurkdjian at the helm, but I think they are just going for the safe options
Agreed. I think the only outstanding piece is Eau Noire which Kurkdjian made a long time ago. It first got reformulated by someone else, then got discontinued, then they brought it back for request. The new version is also made by Kurkdjian, and I still really enjoy it, even though he managed to make it 50% less daring and 50% more crowd pleasing.
I really like Unda Maris 8 too … haven’t managed to convince myself to get the bottle. Waffling between that one and Lutens Dans le Bleu Qui Petille - which I find to be similar, but sparklier without the fatty aldehydes and swapping wet stone for the underwater church of Sorcinelli’s. I just don’t wear marine deep sea fragrances enough … but it’s so intriguing! Every time you mention it I think, oh right! I need to get that one 😆
Have been looking forward to your update! So exciting with the new job, I just love the adrenalin and motivation which comes with it. I enjoy following the debate around Amouage's new direction and collecting bits of information from different places it seems like they have been under a lot of pressure internally for a long long time, coming from employees from all different levels and functions to modernize the brand and adjust to the customer needs instead of insisting on traditions and serving a smaller niche of crowd. From a business management point of view I totally get it, at the end of the day it's a company which needs to generate money, but I am also one of those who just absolutely loved what Christopher Chong had for a vision and would have been happier if he stayed. At the same time, the new creative director Renaud Salmon is not a total disaster as some people think hehe. After a few trial and error he did manage to create Lineage and Guidance after all. I am not at all excited for the Blossom/Love whatevers coming out, but I am curious to see his next move when it's time to create a new piece for the classic collection - instead of reformulating old classics and making them more expensive (Honour, Epic, Dia).
What an interesting comment. Love all 'industry talk' and insider's info, thank you for sharing. Amouage as a brand baffled me from day one. They seemed so unfocused from a marketing point of view, issues with clear aesthetic cohesion etc, oh and their early offerings were all insipid and left me with furrowed brows every time I visited their counter in a boutique. I've not bothered with them, giving up early on. But they clearly love wooing social media influencers (unlike Boudicea the Victorious whom NOBODY on UA-cam frag-comm EVER mentions, ho!). After reading your informative comment I might give the brand another look later this year just to give them a fair shake and not write them off entirely as I have done with a few other houses who have creative directors I just do not connect with. PS= Please tell me you've seen the surreptitiously filmed video of what looks like an Adderall-fuelled Jeremy Fragrance charging up to Carine Roitfeld and Tom Ford at an industry event, trying to shmooze but instead providing me with the cringe of the year. It's fantastic. No matter how much either of us make fools of ourselves at parties, we've gone nowhere near the realms of Jeremy Fragrance.🤦♀

I don’t like the idea of perfume houses making more intense versions of the same fragrances. So disappointing. And not Nishane making X-versions of their popular perfumes either. They are different from the originals but not necessarily more potent. I must be a commercial thing.
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 Haha I have watched the video now. He's one of the reviewers I never ever watch, and I usually give everyone a chance if they talk about something interesting..
I can't tell you how happy it made me to see someone FINALLY include a Fort & Manle fragrance in their haul/raving review. I can't stop smelling Amber Absolutely when I'm wearing it, I just compulsively lift my arm up and snort away. There was a huge change in the formula/ingredients with the brand at around the time the bottles themselves were redesigned entirely and I really believe something so important should have been made MUCH clearer on their website. That being said, I MUCH prefer the newer version of Amber Absolutely. If these fragrances lasted longer and projected better I'd swipe everything Rasai Fort creates into my shopping basket without a second thought. Not joking. He's genius in so many ways but there are off-putting problems-- in my personal view-- at F & M when it comes to both technical consistency and fragrance construction itself when it comes to key factors like longevity, sillage and projection. For the price he's asking, I need something to stay on for longer than 30 minutes. If these issues could be sorted out, my bank account would be in serious trouble 😍. Not popular to offer constructive criticism but it's done out of love, I promise you (and Rasai!)
It's so great to see you Kicki and hear that your job is going so well! It's also great to hear what you have been wearing. I just sprung for a bottle of Bengal Rouge since I went through your large decant and another I bought after, plus my husband commented on it. That alone for me is a full bottle worthy situation, haha! oxJulia
Glad you are liking your new job!! I can relate to the fact that getting up early and having to get ready to be at your job, takes practice!! I’ve only been told once, a long time ago not to wear such strong perfumes, and I had just bought Joy by Jean Patou, and got a bit carried away!!😂😂😂. Since then I’ve been mindful of the fragrances I choose, and how much I spray. Your choices sound perfect. Amouage is a house I want to try. You can’t go wrong with Chanel!!🧡💗
I love your earrings - where did you get them? I only have one Amouage which is Sunshine Woman and its so likable I cant say about the other more edgy ones. The prices are outrageous now which has driven me to use my collection of Dossiers - especially for Spring they are so easy to wear and smell so nice (lighter than many perfumes).
Thank you. Got the earrings to celebrate getting a job. They are from a local jeweler and were not a specific brand. But real 18k gold and very light weight which I appreciate.
May I ask if you have worn guerlain chamade or jicky? I can’t think if you’ve mentioned them in other videos. I’m enjoying chamade now the weather is nicer in the uk and I just got my jicky back (from the guy I sold it to two years ago!) and am enjoying that too. Nice as always to hear your thoughts.

Thank you and Thank you for commenting on prices going up. So true.
La Religieuse is lovely. It reminds me of Chanel Gabriel Essence with the addition of an indolic, retro jasmine in the vein of Lanvin Arpege.
Interesting!
Congratulations on your new job! I have a sample of La Religeuse around…i will dig it out.
Thank you! Let me know what you think of it.

I know that luxury in general is on the rise and maybe Dior is selling a lot to rich non-fragrance nerds.

Not sure what formula I have.

I have tried old formulas of Jicky and wasn’t so into it. Have not tried Chamade.
