    Growing up in ussr, where all the western music was banned up until late 80s, there was still some underground music scene where ppl would trade or just share records. I remember someone in my class just brought a tape - 10th copy of a copy, it read Headless Children on the spine. I was lucky enough to get hold of it, i listened to it on our soviet made stereoand and it completely turned me around. This album formed my tastes in music. This one and Back in Black by acdc. No one spoke English back then, the record quality was really bad, couldn't make out any lyrics anyways, but the energy in the music, oh man. The best.

      Great story! I grew up in the US but extremely poor and have listened to my fair share of 10th generation recorded tapes through a small, busted, piece of junk tape player. I feel like I can relate to your experience. It makes me nostalgic for the old days.

      @Richard Spillers all western music, except like mild european like french, italian (basically same communists countries with a bit of capitalism flare) was basically condemned. later, closer to the 90s, it was somewhat lifted, a buncha good russian rock band surfaced, not heavy metal tho, just good rock music.

I got to see them open for KISS in 1985, and I've already gotten my tickets to see them at the end of October this year! I can hardly wait! Although Blackie's songwriting has been kind of hit-and-miss (in my opinion) over the years, I've always found something I love on every album. And I've always felt that Blackie has been underrated as a vocalist. I sure do wish he could see it in his heart to bring Chris Holmes back in to the fold for another album.

    KFD remains as one of the darkest and angriest albums I’ve listened to. It was born of desperation of the backlash of 80’s rock. However, unlike Dokken’s Shadowlife, Motley Crue’s Generation Swine, or even Warrant’s Belly to Belly, KFD told these 90’s band’s who thought they were dark “hold my beer” and blew everything out of the water with its darkness. I didn’t like it then. But being older, I appreciate it for what it is. Especially “The Horror”. Not WASP’s best, but certainly under-appreciated for the time.

    Great job! WASP was the real deal, and Blackie's vocals were exceptional. Headless Children was so amazing, I thought the band might transcend the hair mental scene that was coming to an end at the time. In the mid 90's Blackie was reduced to sitting alone in a corner at The Rainbow most nights, unapproachable and lonely. I always found that very sad. The band, and Blackie, deserved much better.

    • @richardcurtis1912
      @richardcurtis1912 2 роки тому

      After the way he screwed his best band mate out of royalties, took an absolute killer band and turned it into the ‘Blackie Lawless ego show’, he deserved to sit in that corner alone. W.A.S.P. was badass back in the day and Blackie just couldn’t share it with anyone. He had to control everything and that control bought his seat in that corner, as you put it. You can only screw over your friends and band mate’s so many times and you may end up with money, but you may also end up unapproachable and lonely. I don’t think it’s sad at all. He earned it being a selfish asshole and shitting on Chris time and time again publicly. He used Chris to attract fans back and then once again shit all over him again. I owned around 60 W.A.S.P. Albums and import singles back in the day. I was a true fan, but Blackie ruined it. It really sucks too because they had a momentum going and his ego just train wrecked it all. This new tour is going to fail as well. It will sell tickets to diehards and the curious, but let’s be real, he can’t bring it back like he says he’s going too. No Randy, No Chris, No Tony or Stephen he’s got a cover band with a rehashed old idea. Personally with all he did to Chris I hope Blackie falls flat on his face and crawls back underneath whatever rock he’s been hiding under, right where a f**king snake belongs! Get well Chris Holmes!!!

    Calling K.F.D. "kind of an angry album" is a bit of an understatement. That album is a very unsettling listen that leaves you with a strange and somewhat shocked feeling at the end. However, it has some great stuff on it and nobody can accuse them of selling out. It's their most evil, meanest, and heaviest album they ever did. Which was a pleasant surprise as i hadn't cared as much for the more serious, political, and introspective direction Blackie had been heading in.
    In closing I say that it's too bad that this band didn't get the commercial success that bands like Motley Crue did because W.A.S.P. was a better band with better songs and they partied harder. I believe Blackie is more intelligent than Nikki Sixx although they share some similarities as the respective leaders of their bands. Both of them let their egos get too out of control though and it cost them both. Although ego is what got them their success as well. I love tits.

    I appreciate that when Blackie went back to is previous faith, he stuck to his guns about organized religion and thinking for yourself, that he didn't turn into one of those preaching for you to change types. It shows a level of integrity that I don't see often enough.
    Also, his singing on those ballads is smooth enough that I'm pretty sure he could make a killing in the soft rock market. Maybe team up with Michael Bolton to write a few songs; it worked for Kiss, didn't it? (I'm not joking either, he probably could do it.)
