Lucky you. I saw them once in mid 1989 which was my HS Sr year. I don’t really remember it sad to say. I’ve been looking at past concert maps of Ratt and there were other nearby chances but for whatever reason didn’t know or go. I ones I missed out on in 1985 make me want to punch myself in the nuts over and over again.
Out of all the LA bands, Ratt is far too underrated. They should be out touring on the Motley Crue, Def Leppard Stadium Tour. It’s unfortunate they weren’t able to hang onto the stature they built up in the 80’s. Stephen’s recent solo work is very close to Ratt. But I’d love to see these guys reunite the original line up. I just did a Ratt Album Ranking and for me their best album is Detonator. But that’s just my opinion.

I think Detonator is underrated. Yeah, it's more commercial than previous efforts, and Desmond Child's fingerprints are all over it, but honestly I think the songs are solid. "Shame Shame Shame" was a killer opening to the album, and a good choice for a single, to show they hadn't lost their edge.

The doors came open and in ran several people but I didn't make it before security closed them again. I wandered around outside listening to the opening band play through the walls when I came upon a row of windows that were dark and just above my head. I jumped up and down several times and saw the members of RATT hanging out waiting to take the stage. I tried my damnedest to get their attention but they never heard or saw me. This is an awesome video man! Because of videos like these RATTs history will never die out. Hoping to one day pass history like this to my children and grandkids . 80s is forever!
DeMartini provided the best concert experience in my life. Saw them at the old Alladin in Vegas with Lita Ford opening. This kid was so tweaked out. It was beyond insane. He went off!!! I will never forgot it. Thankyou Warren.
Robbin Crosby also played lead guitar. You state that Warrens lead guitar for was amazing on Dancing Undercover, and it is, but the solo on "Drive Me Crazy" was played by Robbin.
Both were clearly excellent guitarists. Anyone who is at an intermediate level and has tried to play "Round and Round" on Rocksmith knows this quite well.

Yes they were if not mistaken the only big hair band who did not do that but they did ballads yrs later n turned out be timeless ballads (giving yourself away & 1 step in early 90s.)
I was 9 or 10 out of the caller I loved it no idea what they were talking about but I song along with it all wanted man is probably my favorite ratt song I just love those riffs znd arrangements
First time I heard Ratt as a teenager around 18yrs, over 20 something years ago the music blew me away and it still does, it really cemented my love for heavy metal which I'm still very passionate about, those riffy guitar melodies and kick ass vocals, and with songs you could sing along to. Even though I've gotten into much heavier bands since then I still listen to Ratt, their music is timeless.
So what is wrong with saying a guy is more of a rhythm guitarist? Fact: Warren was * more * of the lead player. A better soloist. Another fact: In many ways, just as the video creator indicated, Robin was the force behind the Band. Fact: Robin wrote most of the riffs that became these great songs that we all love. Warren did the fancy embellishment, and made the songs even better. I don't think anyone that really knows the real deal is taking anything away from Robin Crosby. The guy was phenomenal. But it is true that Warren was the * better * lead player. He's been one of the best in the biz for close to 40 years. Honestly.... there's nothing better than a killer rhythm guitarist. I can't for the life of me figure out why People are arguing this one. It's stupid. They both kicked ass. That's why Ratt was killer.
@@jimmyz2098 No one will argue the same about the riffmeister and Phil... and that you may tie to. But One must not make the mistake of referring to Viv Campbell & Phil Collen as such... it was him and Steve Clarke and that’s that.
Dancing Undercover is the first album I think of that I can play from start to finish 🤘 I'm honored to have made Ratt the last band I've seen in person.
RATT was my gateway drug to heavy metal. My cousin bought the RATT ep for me as a gift for being an usher at her wedding. Thanks for the video and the mention of how great Warren is.
Ratt stands toe to toe with all of the 80s hair metal bands .. They’re first 4 albums went platinum when buying albums actually meant something and they ALWAYS had the hottest chicks in they’re videos !
Yeah, and you have “The Atlantic years” compilation too, don’t ya? Those first five albums are great.... And they were unable to repeat the 4x platinum status on OOTC because there was a lot going on behind the scenes.... Stephen’s ego reared it’s head and....
Nice!! I've got from the EP to Reach for the Sky on vinyl, the rest on CD, and their video compilation "RATT: The Video" on Betamax and DVD. Them and Dokken were definitely my two favorite bands in the mid/late 80s.
Right now I have out of the cellar, invasion of your privacy, dancing undercover, detonator, reach for the sky, and infestation on my iTunes and I love them
Every album is great but Dancing Undercover has that special thing... a darker and richer tone with great production. The sleeper on that disc is "Enough is Enough".
My favorite too. Loved the bluesy tunes and Warren’s slowhand approach to the solos. Used to listen to at 4 am every morning driving to swim practice, just great tunes.
I am really diggin your videos. They really take me back to my teenage days when stress was low and there was more fun. I watch them everyday. Please make more!
Today, Robbin would be 63… too bad his demons overcame him eventually, but we shall always remember him fondly as the gentle giant who few have said a negative thing about.
The video commentary was hilarious. I’m a huge Ratt fan and got to see them live a couple of times. I think my favorite was on the city to city tour where Great White opened. That was a fantastic show.
Saw them many times in their hey day .....brings back many great and fun memories with me and my friends growing up in Austin , TX. Thanks again for another great video ....you do such a great job from the editing to the voice work ...thank you for taking time to do these ...I look forward to your next project .
Fantastic ! I discovered RATT on late night video's when WANTED MAN opened the show !!! Wooooooo !!! I was 14 at the time. Everything changed that night . The King Robin Crosby will always be remembered . RIP.
They still are my all time favorite band. The moment I met Warren De Martini, doodling away at a guitar shop in San Diego in June 1984 (I was 16) when Round and Round was cruising up the Top 40 charts, I bought my first guitar right then and there; a red Flying V. I played in 4 bands after that and still play today. They were the best of the 80s and saw them live 9 times between 1984-1990.
I spent the latter half of the 80’s listening to Ratt when all my peers had converted to hipperty hopperty rubbish. Good vid. Now that we’ve had some Ratt n Roll, how about next we have some Rockin’ with Dokken! The most underrated band of the 80’s.
Well skip shadowlife whatever tf that was, but George Lynch learned nothin’ (for he went and reformed Lynch Mob with a bunch of nobodys then released that god awful Nu-metal style album which I’m surprised didn’t kill the band, but then Oni yo-yo’d for years before leaving for good a couple of years ago....
HolyDiver73 Dokken is underrated?? Icon, Keel or Helix were/are Underrated. Dokken have always been. One of the most often remembered & played bands of all the 80s hard Rock/Metal years.
Nicely done. RATT is still one of my all time favorite bands. They have so many great albums and I wish they would release some more. If you're hungry for more, Stephen Pearcy's recent solo albums come close, especially View to a Thrill which is amazing!
Infestation is an amazing album from start to finish. Lost weekend is my favorite I think but all the songs are amazing and look out below as well. I think having Carlos cavazo on board really gave them an extra punch. I feel like it was kind of an unspoken tribute to Robin Crosby. I’ve seen ratt 3 times in concert. 1987 Dancing Undercover tour, 1989 Reach For the Sky tour, and in 2000 when Jizzy Pearl was their lead vocalist which also had Warrant on the bill with the late great Jani Lane
Excellent video and exceptional production as usual. Pearcy and Crosby were the melodic foundation with everyone else icing on the cake. Milton belligerent in drag is hilarious
Man i love your videos so much. Definitely the most criminally underrated music channel on youtube. I'd love to see it if you could make a video on firehouse one of these days. I feel like Bill Leverty doesn't get enough credit for some of his awesome guitar playing.
I’ll have to look more into Firehouse. I actually saw them open for Ratt back in like 2006. Firehouse, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Cinderella. Awesome show and I remembered liking them. Thanks for watching, man! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Them and I believe Dokken too.
@@andrewvanhalen1984 Alone Again was Dokken's top charting song.
Stephen Pearcy was too busy catting (Ratting?) around to fall in love.
Warren DiMartini was and is a guitar god
Hahaha😂😂😂 OMG dude your narration is so funny… I was crying laughing the whole time… I love RATT
woah, woah, woah... Lay It Down is EASILY as good as Round and Round... and the opening guitar riff better
Your in love is my favorite
Never really cared for round and round. always thought it was overplayed. Lack of Communication or Scene of the Crime are better. at least to me
@@gregsretromusicchannel7000 scene of the crime is probably the best song they did, damn it rocks !
Lay It Down is probably my favorite RATT song, which isnt an easy choice to make,.
Wanted man is better than both
I grew up with RATT , there were always one of my favorite bands of the 80's.
Lay it down is my fave Ratt song and the clip makes it even better
I was 9 or 10 out of the caller I loved it no idea what they were talking about but I song along with it all wanted man is probably my favorite ratt song I just love those riffs znd arrangements
First time I heard Ratt as a teenager around 18yrs, over 20 something years ago the music blew me away and it still does, it really cemented my love for heavy metal which I'm still very passionate about, those riffy guitar melodies and kick ass vocals, and with songs you could sing along to. Even though I've gotten into much heavier bands since then I still listen to Ratt, their music is timeless.
Hello again, my dude... been a while since we talked hasn’t it?
@@dragonqueen6589 Yes been quite a while now.
I don’t think it’s fair saying Robin was rhythm, he had his share of solos.
Exactly; they don't know what they're talking about
@@MrHARDROCKROBBY in the context of the band, Warren was the axeman gunslinger. I think YOU don't know what you're talking about.
@@tombstonejones9581 They shared solos duh. Do you even know anything about electric guitar?
Robin really was a huge part of rat being cool and selling millions of albums
Dancing Undercover is the first album I think of that I can play from start to finish 🤘 I'm honored to have made Ratt the last band I've seen in person.
RATT was my gateway drug to heavy metal. My cousin bought the RATT ep for me as a gift for being an usher at her wedding. Thanks for the video and the mention of how great Warren is.
They were dancing on the edge between hard rock and heavy metal.
@@ytusersumone dancing undercover?
@@TheSnapdad Dancing, dancing, dancing 😄
That was a great documentary!
Ratt stands toe to toe with all of the 80s hair metal bands .. They’re first 4 albums went platinum when buying albums actually meant something and they ALWAYS had the hottest chicks in they’re videos !
Love the channel! Can't wait to see more.
Warren is the most underrated Guitar player of the 80’s!
I’ve watched all these now….your descriptions of the videos are hilarious. Dry, dead pan humor. Love it
I got five of ratt albums on CD out of the cellar, invasion of your privacy, dancing undercover, reach for the sky, and detonator. 😀👍💿🤘🎸
Yeah, and you have “The Atlantic years” compilation too, don’t ya? Those first five albums are great.... And they were unable to repeat the 4x platinum status on OOTC because there was a lot going on behind the scenes.... Stephen’s ego reared it’s head and....
@@dragonqueen6589 no but I will think about it. 😀👍💿🤘🎸
same
Nice!! I've got from the EP to Reach for the Sky on vinyl, the rest on CD, and their video compilation "RATT: The Video" on Betamax and DVD. Them and Dokken were definitely my two favorite bands in the mid/late 80s.
Right now I have out of the cellar, invasion of your privacy, dancing undercover, detonator, reach for the sky, and infestation on my iTunes and I love them
This was solid - I was a teen in the 80s and I miss this era a lot. Subscribed.
Slip of the Lip, 7th avenue, and Drive me Crazy were my favorites.
I am really diggin your videos. They really take me back to my teenage days when stress was low and there was more fun. I watch them everyday. Please make more!
So thankful to have come up in the late 70's and through the 80's. Best era of music EVER!!!!!!!
Today, Robbin would be 63… too bad his demons overcame him eventually, but we shall always remember him fondly as the gentle giant who few have said a negative thing about.
The perfect upload, I've been waiting for this one!! 🤘
I'm surprised that Stephen's solo project Arcade wasn't mentioned. Worth checking out if you're into Ratt.
Great vid!!!!! Well done!! I've enjoyed your channel alot!!!
Invasion of Your Privacy is one of the best albums of the mid 80's!!
The video commentary was hilarious. I’m a huge Ratt fan and got to see them live a couple of times. I think my favorite was on the city to city tour where Great White opened. That was a fantastic show.
Great White would be a good band for him to do a video on.
I saw that tour it was Ratt/Great White/Kix
One of the first concerts I ever seen back in 1984. They kicked ass.
Saw them many times in their hey day .....brings back many great and fun memories with me and my friends growing up in Austin , TX. Thanks again for another great video ....you do such a great job from the editing to the voice work ...thank you for taking time to do these ...I look forward to your next project .
The narrator's no-bullshit descriptions of the Ratt videos are hilarious
RATT WAS 1 OF THE BIGGEST BANDS OF THE 80'S NONE OF THESE KIDS NOWADAYS WILL UNDERSTAND JUST HOW GOOD THEY WERE..
Love the band. Great video. Cool memories. See them live. They’re great. I’d love to see a reunion tour.
Thanks. Its the best music content in UA-cam.
Absolutely True Pioneers into the 80's Metal Revolution
Out the cellar brings a classic rawness back into my life
Fantastic ! I discovered RATT on late night video's when WANTED MAN opened the show !!! Wooooooo !!! I was 14 at the time. Everything changed that night . The King Robin Crosby will always be remembered . RIP.
Out Of The Cellar is one of my favorite albums and one of the best of the time in my opinion!!
Please more bands!!!. Your channel kicks ass truly
The metal chick with massive bangs at 06:19 also got recruited by Michael Jackson to be featured on Dirty Diana video as a leggy pinup.
I spent the latter half of the 80’s listening to Ratt when all my peers had converted to hipperty hopperty rubbish.
Good vid.
Now that we’ve had some Ratt n Roll, how about next we have some Rockin’ with Dokken! The most underrated band of the 80’s.
Ah yes;Live to rock - rock to live, it’s all you’ve got, when you’re down on the skin, yeah...
Oh yeah dokken is another level of dock so different yet the same!!!!
@@dragonqueen6589 well said, on all counts.
HolyDiver73 Dokken is underrated?? Icon, Keel or Helix were/are Underrated. Dokken have always been. One of the most often
remembered & played bands of all the 80s hard Rock/Metal years.
man i miss the 80s good music no cell phones or Facebook and no computers like they are today
Nicely done. RATT is still one of my all time favorite bands. They have so many great albums and I wish they would release some more. If you're hungry for more, Stephen Pearcy's recent solo albums come close, especially View to a Thrill which is amazing!
His albums with Arcade in the 90s are solid too.
This was a great time to be alive, and young
I met them at a hotel in Poughkeepsie, NY back in 1984. They were so thrilled that I knew who they were.
Lack of Communication has always been a personal favorite of mine.
God bless you fellow rocker! God bless all the ratt n rollers! Jesus saves sinners! I have been collecting ratt items for years!
Love Infestation also!
Out of the cellar, was my only favorite album of theirs, I loved the early melodic sound of the heavy metal, when Metalica came out it was over and I knew it.
