With a massive printing size of 420x420x500mm, this printer is perfect for those looking to create larger models or print in batches. The dual-gear direct drive extruder with gears made of SUS303 stainless steel features adjustable extrusion force and a 3:1 reduction ratio, which ensures smoother filament feeding and stable & accurate printing, greatly reducing nozzle clogging and gear jumping problems. Ideal for printing PLA, PETG, ABS, and flexible filaments such as TPU. What an absolute monster. Good call with the .8mm nozzle. A 3D PRINTED MIATA HARDTOP! Wow. Cant wait.
Yeah it is a very big printer for sure and as you know big prints mean a lot more print time so I will play with the 0.8mm and 1.00mm so see what I can get done.
I wpuld live to see the hot end upgrade I have neen looking into doing it for my N3 Base and the Maz
Good to know, I have all the footage of me doing it so I would just need to put it all together. I'm still waiting on Elegoo to give me some info about the firmware so I can try it out at a higher temperature.

@@randymay thanks👌
6:19 I don't think Creality is going to help you here 🤣 Nice review!
Yeah that was a slip of the tongue haha. I did contact Elegoo and they did get back to me with the info I needed. 😁
please make the video about changing the parts out
I do already have all the footage, I just have to do the voiceover and editing. 😁👍

Would just like to point out that if you reached out to Creality about custom firmware you won't get far as the printer is made by Elegoo. Great Video 👍
Lol nice well I meant elegoo haha I just had creality on my mind from looking up the parts to get for the all metal hot end working. 😅👍
I defo like this printer and when I can get one here in the UK I will defo be getting one. Just hope a community firmware comes out soon as I defo want to be able to print hotter.
It really is a great bang for the buck printer. And yeah if we can somehow get the temperature lock off of it all I would need is an enclosure and you can print large things out of high temp materials.
From all the reviews I am seeing of these printers, it won't be long till TH3D and others will have community firmware available for them.
make the video for the all metal hotend replacement !!!
I think I'll be working on that in the next day or so.

About the 6:20 mark … “reached out to Creality” For a Elegoo printer?
Yeah that was a little bit of a slip. I've been researching parts to make the all metal hot end work and they're mostly creality parts so when I went through and said that I guess Creality slipped out for some reason but no I contacted Elegoo about the firmware. But thanks for pointing that out.
wow that direct drive and build volume are great. big nozzle gang. 500mm z make my mouth water
I'm definitely trying out a 1 mm nozzle on this.
Good video, thanks. My Neptune 3 Plus arrived yesterday to replace a very old CTC Makerbot clone. Whilst I needed a large print area for future projects, the Plus is as big as I would want to go. Gosh it feels huge. At 14.2kg this has some heft on the desk The printer feels like a quality item. The Buddha test print came out great. First impressions are that things have moved on a great deal and become a lot more refined with the bed being an excellent example - it sticks very well and releases the print when flexed / cool.
I like the touch screen interface but since I'm using a non Elego version of Cura, I have used the sigathi Thumbnail package to try to make the image of the print appear on the units screen (not seen this work so far). This is a nice to have...
Elegoo did impress me with a sub 24 hour delivery (I'm in the UK). I had expected the unit to be delivered in a few weeks time from the US. As you say, packing is excellent. Shame there is only enough PLA included to print the dinky Buddha...
My primary use case is printing model airplanes. So look forward to trying vase mode on a fuselage later today.
I love the "It's all on you". 😆
I'd love a hotend replacement video! My 3 Pro will arrive today and the intended use will be mostly for PETG so anything that will make printing PETG succesfull I'd love to see 😁
I'm working on that video now. 😁👍

I want a large format 3D printer that is capable of good print quality that I can use to print multiple parts at once for my online business. The 420 x 420 mm bed may be too big! I don't want to waste the energy to heat that big bed. This ginormous print volume printer would be good for people printing cosplay stuff like big helmets, faux armor... or someone who is printing car parts! That's awesome.
If that is the case check out this printer ua-cam.com/video/8mqrm_2_yzc/v-deo.html
Wowww… Weeelll done! And please more videos I loOoOve your content. Thank you for all your teaching. My husband love your videos too. Just keep on going. 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome! Thank you!
I have been interested in acquiring a Neptune FDM printer for some time now, since they seem to have a very stellar rep but they seem impossible to buy here in Canada. Their Canadian warehouse never has any stock on all of their models on their website.
Yeah that that is kind of suck sadly I don't know anything about how you can go about changing that. Also every time a new elegoo printer comes out they're pretty much sold out for the first couple weeks to a month. If you do end up getting one let me know what you get.
...and mine has arrived! Unfortunately, the day after my back surgery so now I have to wait a couple months before setup...
Oh that sucks to hear and yeah it's kind of a lot to move around especially with an injured back after surgery. But I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Interesting Video.
With such a huge bed, ringing can be a problem when printing fast. Maybe Klipper with input shaping would be a good idea. Maybe adding a Sonic Pad would be nice in future.
The hotend does not seem to be high flow. For a 0.8 mm nozzle a Bondtech CHT might be a good idea as an upgrade.
A little problem might be to build an enclosure for this printer. Due to energy crisis my ambient temperature in the house actually is about 10°C. Thats totaly enough for me - but not for my 3d-printers. My mk3s always complain. So I put them into enclosures, use a hairdryer to het nozzle and bed (at least near the thermistor) to 15°C to avoid min-temp error, and preheat the bed for 10 minutes inside the enclosure to get a sufficient warm enviroment for the printer. For the Neptune 3 Max this seem more of a problem; most tables I have only are about 80cm deep. No problem placing the Max without enclosure, as the bed could swing over the front edge of the table, and I could place the printer back to the wall (or under the table) if not in use. But an enclosure would take more space that the table provides permernantly. I am not sure, if the bedslinger design is the right decision here. On the other hand it keeps the price down... Maybe I just redefine the smal toilet room for guests and call it my new "printer enclosure" (and start a YT-chanel "CNC-WC" as homage to Stefan's CNC kitchen)
Very cool! I also like 3D printing stuff! I also have a small channel and i would love to share it with you, great work :)
Well thank you and I did check out your channel. It looks like you also do a little wood working and laser cutting.
@@randymay what is your top tip for growing a channel?
@@StarNestEngineering Basically make videos that people want to watch. Sound and pacing of the video are very important.
Fantastic, would love to see the hot end upgrade option video, as I print ABS with my heavily modified CR-10 with great results. Could I ask a favor, my Neptune 3 Max is preordered and I want to get started on my enclosure build. What is the min clearance needed forward and back with the bed travel taken into account? Also how high is the printer from table-top to the top of the horizontal support, not including the spool holder extension arm?
Thanks in advance, really appreciate the first look!
Thanks and I will try and get that info as soon as I can. 😁👍
@@randymay Thank you Sir! Oh, and the min side to side span accounting for the extended gantry fittings so nothing rubs going up. :) I think I'm going to love this printer....
So took the time to look it over and see how much area you would need for it so it didn't hit anything and if you wanted to make an enclosure for it:
42" Front to back- this will give you a little room in the back so the bed doesn't hit the wall along with the cable.
32" Side to side - this is with a few inches added to make sure you have clearance around it.
39" with the spool on it and to have some room to replace the spool
32" without the spool with a few inches added so you would have clearance over the top of it.
Hope this helps and I'm going to make a short about it.
@@randymay So wonderful, thank you! I will probably make it 32" tall with a printed short "spool holder extension" straight up so the spool is outside the enclosure, with a simple slit in the enclosure material (water cooler foil insulation) to allow the filament to slide back and forth a bit. I use the "slit" concept on my CR-10 enclosure in a number of places and it works well. I print ABS almost exclusively in the CR-10, and the heat from the bed is enough to keep the enclosure at a nice elevated temp, and I use an Amazon purchased air filtration system to simply pull a very slight negative pressure out of the enclosure and through carbon filter. Absolutely no smell...
Thanks so much!
Oh, and of course the control panel will be outside the enclosure, mounted externally...
What I like is that they use CZCL PSU, which are reliable and safe PSU, and they have their own UL code, which is something I really appreciate. The only negative I can say about CZCL are the capacitors they use, they are not of high quality, but if they are replaced by Japanese ones, that source will last the life of the printer.
That PSU brand is usually mounted by Anycubic a lot.
My recommendation is to leave the original PSU, because it is a psu with active PFC, and with a high quality electrical design, the only thing that would do as indicated before, change the capacitors and that source will last many years.
Honestly it doesn't even cross my mind as I'm using the printer 😅I
Definitely would like to see the upgrade video!!!
I'm working on the video as I type this and hoping to have it out by tomorrow. 😁👍

@@randymay Thank you so much! :D
May i know if i should go with kobra max or this one???
This one
@@Narsissy ok tq
Yeah I would go with this one for sure. I just looked at the specs of the Kobra Max and it has a smaller print area, is running a bowden setup when this printer is direct drive.
Also from what I have seen if something does go wrong, Elegoo is now for their customer support and sending out replacement parts when needed. But when it comes to Anycubic not so much.
great video!
Thanks
hi there! thank you so much for the "$25 All-Metal Hotend Upgrade For Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro, Plus & Max" I followed and was amazing how much of a better quality printer I got - I just have one question (I'm new to 3D printing) - what's the benefit of the .8mm nozzle? I'm using the ones that came with the printer, after doing all the upgrades from the other video...
I'm not trying to print nothing crazy but I just like when things work when I need and it's the best I can... anyway! thanks for the videos - It has helped a lot!
For the most part going up to a 0.8mm nozzle will speed up your print times but it will lower your print quality. So if you are making larger objects that don't need a lot of fine details or if you need functional prints then 0.8mm is nice to use.
@@randymay thanks for teaching me. - good to know!
I live in Yakima, I want one, lol
Nice review , thanks .

Great video, friend, you are quite an expert, do I want to ask you something? I have this printer, tell me which are the best components that I can buy on Amazon to optimize it more, I don't want to have problems in the future, can you make me a list and the link where I can buy them, I would really appreciate it.
ua-cam.com/video/MeQtTKjHpqw/v-deo.html here is a video all about it and it has links to everything in the description 😊👍
Hey @Randy, did you intentionally say Creality at 6:20 regarding firmware or you meant Elegoo? FYI.
Nope not at all totally messed up on that one meant to say Elegoo. I think the reason for that was because I was looking at all the different parts needed for swapping it over to an all-metal hot end and most of the parts happen to be from Creality or meant for reality printers.
Can it run Klipper? I think that would be necessary with the large format.
That's a good question and I will ask elegoo in my next email. I did see a UA-cam short somewhere of someone talking about putting klipper on it but I don't know if it can be done for sure.
Yes it can run Klipper according to Elegoo.
6:19 - You reached out to Creality to make some custom firmware for the Elegoo Neptune 3 Max?
I misspoke, I was looking up all the parts to do the all metal hot end conversion and it was all for Creality prints so that was stuck on my mind. 😅
I need your tree support settings..... that was way too smooth to pull off I gotta break mine in half with pliers
Honestly I just used the default setting from the Elegoo Cura Slicer 😅
Hi. Great 3d. Which is the speed print? mm/s ? Thanks a lot.
Honestly for the most part I just use the default setting of the slicer for most of my printing.
Great vid about a really nice 3d printer. But seriously, the word is ES-specially not EX-specially.
Thanks and I will work on that 😅👍
@@randymay Sorry, I hope I didn't sound too crappy.
@@8ank3r It's all good and speech is one of my weak points that I'm trying to work on anyways. I have found that I pronounce a lot of words wrongs and it's a goal of mine to fix that.
😁👍
6:25 You probably won't hear back from them because they didn't make this printer. Elegoo did not Crealty
Yeah that was a slip of the tongue I guess, I had Creality on the mind because a lot of the parts that I was looking up are Creality parts to upgrade this. I did contact Elegoo though and they did get back to me so I'm working on another video showing how to do all the upgrade work as I type this. I'm hoping to have it out by tomorrow.
What is involved w/ setting up the printer when you change nozzle sizes? I imagine somewhere you have to tell/set it to which one you're using.
There is a setting in the slicer for different nozzle sizes and it should adjust things for you so it will print and you can adjust settings as needed from that point
@@randymay Thanks! What is your opinion on getting the Max vs the Plus/Pro if you don't really NEED the size? Does the Max do as well on small prints? At this time, I don't need one that big, but I also don't want to have to buy another one down the road if I wanted bigger...and at $470 (IF you can find one), it's almost a no brainer....as long as small items print just as well on it as the smaller printers.
I’m curious - do you have to add the M420 Gcode in order for it to use the auto mines mesh like you do for the S1
I didn't have to do anything but I was also using the Elegoo Cura slicer so it might just be setup like that already.
Beginner question..off topic: Would You at all be familiar with budget friendly 3D Printers that can Print a Hight of 1000mm ( 100cm or 1 meter) ?
www.modix3d.com/big-meter/
Did you mean to say you were reaching out to Creality about firmware?
Nope, it was slip of the tongue. I was researching parts to a the all metal hotend and most of them are from Creality printers. So I had Creality on the mind. That being said I did contact Elegoo and got the info I needed. That video will be up tomorrow.
@@randymay awesome, I’m excited! Thanks for such an in depth review video. Most people are just blabbing on about the size. Looking forward to tomorrow’s upload
Here is the link to that new video all about the hotend replacement - ua-cam.com/video/MeQtTKjHpqw/v-deo.html
Whatever, be great if we could actually buy one. All these UA-camrs have been hyping these for a month and they are completely unavailable in the US and they won't let you order from another country. Maybe Elegoo should get some stock built up before launching.
Yeah this happens every time Elegoo releases a new printer. I have seen random restocks on them but they go fast.
Normally give it a few weeks and they normally catch up with demand
How long does the bed temperatrue up to 100°?
Honestly I haven't timed it 😅
How big of a table space do you need for this?
I'm going to try and get that info tomorrow
@@randymay thanks. they don’t seem to list it on their site for some reason. someone asked on reddit and got no replies. the thing looks so huge i’m not completely sure i have the space
@@randymay lol 42" front to back is ridiculous. I would definitely need a custom table top. Thanks!
@@mgoblurg that is the travel of the bed, I can get the base measurements if you like
Can anybody give me the measurements from feet-to-feet. My table is 58x58cm (22,8"x22,8") and I would like to know if it's fit on it. :)
20in from side to side and 23in front to back
So strange how they equipped this with a 0.4mm hot end, for such a build size 0.8 and up is the only way to go. Wouldn't be bad to do a klipperizing on this one, speeding up such large prints can save days.
I understand why they shipped it with a 0.4mm nozzle. If someone new to this and just getting files online most of them are designed to be printed using a 0.4mm nozzle. I do think this printer should have been shipped with 0.6 and 0.8mm replacement nozzles so you would be able to try them out. I have asked in an email if this printer can easily run klipper, so as soon as I get that info I will be sure to share.
Nice printer but... Elegoo do not answer on my Support mails, not nice
Really, they're normally pretty good about that I know that they're on vacation right now for Chinese New Year and they don't respond to messages on the weekends.
@@randymay now I get Support, hmm coincidence
Did you get everything shorted out?
That's a surprise. They have always had great customer service and respond within 24 hours of my messages, sometimes they respond within an hour if it's during Chinese business hours.
And you can't buy it.
Global availability is zero
Yes sadly this happens every time Elegoo releases a printer they usually take a few weeks until the stock comes back.
Keep checking Amazon every day. There will be a random 10-15 units stocked during the week. Ordered one Sunday and receiving it Friday.
a big MEH!
Lol
I'd love to get this printer, IF THEY'D ACTUALLY LET ME BUY IT!
Lol yeah sadly they are still back ordered 😅
