Love the simulator but why use that hokie control panel ? Is this MS ? ..Last time I used it you could use the actual back head of a steamer and control from there. Not as easy as this but far more realistic. Also, there are numerous references on whistle signals , again, when used correctly they add to the realism. I've run steam and these simulators can do a pretty good job of what you might expect ...very cool graphics

You can't leave the cutoff at a high percentage. It must be adjusted downward as speed increases.

You also have to keep a balance between the fire levels and the amount of water in the boiler.
