Considering that virtually every person has the need and the desire for intimacy but physical emotional and mental with another why wouldn't we get taught about good practice before we try to walk through those landmines?
We here story after story about intimacy going horribly wrong. Physical, emotional and spiritual. Maybe it's time we stopped being so prudish and accept the fact that none of us got here without our parents engaging in physical intimacy and perhaps we could learn to do a better job for everyone.

I understand. But consider this fact. Everyone that you decide to become intimate with in any shape or fashion start out as a stranger. So by your statement you cannot be intimate with anyone.
I understand the reluctance because our society teaches us to consider being honest about our feelings and needs as unneeded or even sinful.
But if you would have the very best intimate relationship with another person and share with them the gifts you have received perhaps it's time to overcome our reluctance and are shyness and embarrassment.

@@silverdon55 they probably got to know their partner first as a friend and dated them before being intimate so there's trust. Where as this therapy session involves total strangers you've never met.
I understand it will help others as some people need that extra help/confidence

@@silverdon55I love your take and totally understand the reluctance. If that were me I know I’d be terrified but could see how liberating the experience could be. I have also struggled with intimacy with partners and chalked it up to that partner not being “ the one” but as I’ve aged and reflected, I’ve come to realize that embracing that vulnerability is what actually creates the intimate bond with that person and that’s what makes them feel like “the one.”
Your comment felt super supportive and exactly what I needed to read, so, thank you.
