I am so regret that I didn't study for the CPA exam when I graduated back in late 90s. Now, 20+ years later Ireally want to accomplish this goal. This is my dream that I want to accomplish before I died :-) so I am hoping is not too late. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE TIPS! :-)
Zoe! I had no idea you already did all the tests! You rock!! Thanks for the tips and game plan. I’ll be taking the test next year, so just looking up some stuff now. This was so helpful! Hope you’re doing well :)
The best advice is around the 6 minute 30 second mark. When I took it in 2009 and passed it on my first attempt during a five month period, my practice scores were in the 60s with Becker. Since this was below 75, I was certain I would fail. But I just believed in myself and I finished the program. This part really resonated with me.
Thank you for your advices😍 I am really losing my will power to review, these days. Now, your video kinda helped me boost some of my will power especially when looking at your grades😅 Thank you again😊
What an amazing effort. Congratulations. Thank you for being an inspiration. I am now attempting to prepare for the CPA exams- 4 exams in 2 months, just like you. I need all the motivation and inspiration I can get, and you have just given me a nice little boost :)
Getting those scores in 2 months is really hard to believe, great job. Did you study for longer or was your only studying done within those 2 months? Also, were you a good student and did you find that college courses prepared you for the exam well? I didnt think I was going to take the exam after college so I only studied the minimum required and that caused the amount of time studying for the CPA exam to go up exponentially. Curious to know how you did in college if you dont mind

Thank you for these great tips from actual experience and having passed the CPA exam to back them up. It didn't occur to me that physical exercise was a necessary part as well, but they totally make sense. Much appreciated !
Yeah of course! It is a little counterintuitive for sure but being mentally and physically well from exercising definitely sets you up for better memory and performance!:))
@@zoeunlimited I wish I were in the process of writing the ebook with guidance! LOL. I see how great you did, and want to incorporate some of your techniques into my strategy :)
Passed all 4 parts in month and a half. Scores over 90 in all 4 parts. Studied for 5-6 hrs a day while working part time. To be honest, it’s the easiest exam from all the competitive exams I have taken. That being said, I have an eidetic memory. As far as the strategy goes, I just sat for 5-6 hrs, every single day and completed atleast one module (Becker) from all 4 parts. Remember it’s about quality and not quantity. There’s no way someone can sit and focus for 12 hrs (unless you’re on something) let alone retain all the information studied during that time. I’d rather study couple hrs and retain everything than study for 12 hrs and retain information in pieces. Took me 3-4 weeks to complete the coursework for all parts and 1 week to complete review and mock exams. I would advice you to not spend too much time on simulation while taking mock exams except the research questions. There is no review course that prepares you well enough for simulations. It’s about how well you know the concepts. If you are completing your coursework and doing good, you should be fine. Took all 4 parts the following week which was close to the end of testing period. After I passed, received offers from all big 4 and regional firms which rejected my applications before I was a CPA. Rejected all the offers, worked in public accounting for a national firm (audit) for 7-8 months and realized it wasn’t challenging enough. Left public accounting and currently working in internal audit in financial service industry, earning significantly more and working less hours than folks in public accounting. In my opinion, all these certifications offered or required post graduation are scam and ways to make money for all these organizations. First they want you to go to college and then pass all these mind numbing certifications to qualify you to be something that you already studied for four-five years in college. People who have graduated college with Masters’ or Bachelors’ degree in Accounting is more than enough for you to qualify and be successful in financial service industry. CPA doesn’t add any value to the knowledge quotient and in long term it’s just three letters that you add next to your name. It just means that you were able to pass the exams. However, no one’s ready for that conversation yet!
Amazing!! Thanks for sharing this experience! I agree with you that we certainly shouldn’t overlook the importance of education or experience over certification and am glad to hear how you were able to find the right path for you! I’m only a few months into public accounting and definitely already see the good and bad sides of it. But overall having the CPA exams done does leave a peace in mind and certainly helped me better accommodate to my new role:))
Sanket, you are not a CPA, stop lying. You cannot complete all the coursework for 3-4 weeks for all parts. If you are send me your AICPA # and I will give you $500 if confirmed that you are actually a CPA. Liar. Email j_ajayi@yahoo.com
JOHNSON AJAYI if you were smart enough you’d search that info before you wrote that but here’s the link cpaverify.org Let me know when you are ready to send me $500, I accept venmo, cashapp, and PayPal.
Yes, Sanket, you are a genius and I can tell that you probably sat for the exam after completing your degree program. My apology for calling you a liar. On a different note, U completely agree with you, this CPA exam is really a scam, once you graduated from college, you can do any Accounting work, it is just a way for the organization to make money, period.
Thank you. I’ve worked as an internal auditor for two years and I haven’t used ANYTHING that was ever on the exam. I was fortunate enough not to go the public accounting route because that’s modern day slavery. Yeah you make 65k a year, but if you do the math, that’s $15 an hour because you’re working 90 hours a week (no lie). Sure, it’s a rite of passage and good experience. You’ll be able to get a job anywhere if you work for the big four. But if you’re able to avoid it, I would. But yeah, the CPA exam is just a money making weeding out process.
I'm preparing for CMA Finals and one thing I learnt from this video is that all those parting and outing will not help me in my exams. And if I could accomplish this I would definetely proud of being CMA. And look fwd to do CPA.
I took the CPA exam in 1996. I was 32 years old with 3 small kids. I drove 90 miles every Saturday for 4 months to attend Becker CPA prep class. I would lock myself in the guest bedroom the last 3 weeks before the exam and studied for 12 hours. Thanks God my Mom helped me with my kids. My effort paid off, I passed all four parts on my first try. I did many things that you had recommended. I ran almost everyday. Thank you for posting this video.

It is certainly a great accomplishment, but keep in mind not everyone has the luxury to do full time study. Many of us have full time job coz we got bills to pay. Some even have kids or others they need to take care of. Four parts in two months would simply be impossible if someone only has 3 hours a day to study.
At the beginning she acknowledged the people who are working while studying, and knows that there is a difference. She took 2 months of down time that is common for young college students that either move back home or saved for that time during college for after college. It’s not your lifestyle but it’s more common than you’d think.

I was major in horticulture and now switching to accounting, with a part-time job, two kids and part-time community college. Don't tell me what is madness😂😂😂(But I will still come back when I am actually going to take the test.)
When I became a CPA, it was one two-and-a-half-day exam done on paper! Practice was two parts of the five-part exam. The other three were auditing, business law, and tax. You could pass part and retake the rest. Happily, I passed on the first try! A friend and I went together to Roanoke, VA to take the test together because there were not enough seats in Northern Virginia at the time. We really wanted to be together and both of us had gone to college in Lynchburg, close to Roanoke. My friend passed, too. We had to wait for results in the mail!
Yes. Those were the days. I passed the exam in February of 2000 before the exam converted to a computerized format. Back then, the 4 parts were business law, auditing, Financial accounting and reporting, and accounting and reporting. The AICPA has completely re-designed the exam. For instance, there's more in the way of economic and finance questions now. Business law is now not it's own separate part anymore but incorporated into regulation.
Congratulations !! This is inspiring for me I’m a mom and work part time. I’m trying to learn more about the experiences from people that were able to obtain the certification.

You should make your own exam review website. You probably have a way of understanding and teaching the information that would be helpful for other people.
In the Philippines, we have to take 6 subjects at the same time and prepare for it within 4 months. Kind of jealous that CPA examinees in US can set their own date in taking the exam.
Canadian CPA has to pass 4 modules and pass a 3-day exam called CFE. CFE only offers once a year. The 3 day exam includes Day1 a 4hr case, day2 a 5hr case and Day3 that has 3 multiple cases totals to 4 hr...

There are no available prometric testing until September around my location due to the covid. How should I study for the next four months studying when I can’t test one at a time?
john Park I wouldn’t recommend studying more than two at the same time especially since there might be some nuanced differences in tests such as how FAR and REG have different rules tested for amortization of intangibles. If you haven’t done FAR yet I would recommend you use this time to study that because it’s so time consuming.

Omg thanks Austin!!😁 Always great to prep ahead! You got this!! Stay safe and take care!

Hey Zoe...congratulations for completing ur cpa exams with such excellent scores!! I hav eone request , can u please share ur notes and game plan like how you managed ur studies if u dont mind?
JOHNSON AJAYI if you were smart enough you’d search that info before you wrote that but here’s the link
cpaverify.org
Let me know when you are ready to send me $500, I accept venmo, cashapp, and PayPal.
And look fwd to do CPA.
sonu maheshwari well said. It’s a temporary sacrifice for the future. Good luck!!

That’s amazing! Honestly have so much respect for people who passed within days.
Congratulations !! This is inspiring for me I’m a mom and work part time. I’m trying to learn more about the experiences from people that were able to obtain the certification.
