Single father with 2 toddlers at home. Full time MBA school currently, but not working. Will start CPA studying soon. 38 years old here. Wishing all you old folks best of luck!
Good to know people of all ages are studying for the CPA exam. I'll be finishing up my masters in accounting later this year and will start prepping for CPA immediately right after. I'm turning 37 in a month. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you so much for this video. I started my cpa exam journey back in 2018 and failed AUD terribly. Got discouraged and stopped. Now I’m back at it. Using Becker and a supplemental review guide. Praying I understand the material and pass this time. I’m 34, single, and work fully remotely. There’s no excuse 🤦🏾♀️
Thank you for your comment! And it's great that you are trying again! It took me 20+ years to try again, so you are at a much better place than me :) And YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I just failed the CPA exam.😭😭😓 I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling. 😥 I'm confident that I will be a good realtor. I just need to get past this, move on and persevere
Yes! I'm so happy you made this channel and crushed the odds against you. Congratulations! I'm 34, married, with 2 kids. I haven't finished my accounting degree yet, but I may be hired my CPA firm that is encouraging me to sit for the CPA, which I wanted to do anyway, but it's something I'm not even sure I can accomplish given me starting later in life and having a family. You don't know how encouraging, informative, and inspiring your channel is and will be for me 😊
Thank you for your comment! And I'm sure you can do it! It's never too late to challenge something. But I think it's earlier the better, so don't wait too long like I did :)
Thanks for the video. I'm 45 non-accounting degree but considering getting the required hours (150) thru an accounting certificate and start my journey. Happy to hear you powered thru despite age. It's encouraging.
Thanks for sharing your experience and the tips! I'm definitely going to try tip #7 for REG. I'm an older millennial and find it difficult to study/focus for long periods of time. I've passed BEC & AUD so far. Not sure why I saved the hardest exams for last:)
Thanks for your comment. Yes, REG is a different animal, so I put in more hours than BEC & AUD. But being older has some advantages too, so good luck on the remaining exams! And pls feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
Thank you for sharing. My exam is in one week and I haven't gone through all the material. I will follow your steps. Congratulations on passing the exam.
Thank you for the comments. I was actually moving very slow at the beginning, reading text, highlighting, and taking notes (or just copying the textbook), and realized I wasn't learning anything. After changing the approach, it made a huge difference. Please also watch other videos, especially the memorization technique because that is essential for memorizing everything in short period of time. And please let me know if you have any questions during your journey. Good luck!
1. 1:29 Set an aggressive timeline 2. 1:52 Watch videos in 1.25 speed, no notes yet 3. 2:30 Do MCQs in random order, use notes and books(review course 4. 4:22 Do lots of practice, practice ,practice 5. 4:45 Track Progress 6. 5:03 Exam simulation 7. 5:24 Do missed MCQs
@Sugar CPA US Hi.. I have a question. I would like to know which Roger review course plan you chose along with the other courses... It will help me a lot thanks.
I bought the unlimited Roger review course, and Ninja was just by subject. I hope this answers your question, but please let me know again if otherwise.
Thank you for your comments. Good luck on your journey, and let me know if you have any questions. Have you seen my memorization technique video? I think that can be helpful.
Kesler's Ultimate CPA Exam Guide is a good mentor/tutor program. They teach you how to study which is the basis of my step-by-step method (I skipped some of it to pass quickly). They also have tutors who can answer 2 questions per week (and more if you pay). They bundle their service with other CPA review course, but I see that you already purchased a few review courses. I'm not sure if you can add that now, but it may be worth asking.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a similar background so it’s very encouraging. For the non-native English speaker, which section was the hardest, and how did you study for it?
You have no idea how much you've encouraged me as I was on the fence to do it or not. I don't want to regret of not doing it on my last day. I'm looking for the material to buy, could you please secretly tell me which one not buying it ? Thank you
I'm glad that my video helped :) Gleim test bank was very bad for simulation questions. They probably have a good study material if you buy it as the main course, but if you only purchase the test bank, I don't recommend it.
Hi, thanks for sharing this amazing tips to tackle the CPA exam. I just started on my study using Roger CPA too. Btw, do you mind to provide more explanations regarding taking the test randomly? Does it mean, once you’ve watched all the lecture videos, you didn’t take the test per chapters but you generate the questions from all chapters? Thanks!
Thank you for your comments and questions, and I apologize for my late reply due to traveling. Your understanding is correct. I didn't practice MCQ's and simulations by chapter. Rather I generated questions randomly from all chapters. By doing this, you can allocate your time based on the importance of the subject. If you go by chapters, you tend to spend more time on earlier chapters and less on later chapters, that's why I always did randomly.
Thank you! To be precise, 2 months & 8 days from the date of the 1st exam (FAR) to the last one (REG). I studied about 7 weeks for FAR, so if I include that it's more like 4 months though.
Thank you for sharing your technique. Which study material do you not recommend. I'm going to start studying again and doing research on the best resources to use.
Thank you for your comments and question. The one that I don't recommend as a supplement is Gleim. I believe their material is fine if you use it as the main study guide, but their supplement test bank is very difficult to use, especially for simulaiton questions.
This is my second attempt to watch your video, and I had to stop 3x already. 2x my kid interrupted, 1x my husband. Imagine how I study... :( I am 45, ESL, graduated 20 y.ago. Trying Core1 for the 2x. I will follow your tips.
Thank you for your comment and question. The one I don't recommend as a supplemental test bank is Gleim. I believe they have good material if you use it as primary course, but their supplement is no good. Please note though, my information is 2 years old. Good luck on your journey!
This video is so helpful. Thank you so much!! I have a bunch of questions! I'm a little confused regarding the MCQ process with UWorld Rogers. Do you randomly pick MCQ sections that are in the lecture review sections next to the videos? or do you generate tests of 10 questions using the Q Bank and just selected "all chapters and topics"? Also, how did you manage your notes if you took notes based on MCQ's that weren't organized by chapter?
Thank you for your comments and questions. Let me try to answer your questions one by one. For the MCQ sections that are in the lecture review sections next to the videos, I believe you are referring to the classroom questions. I did all of those after watching lecture videos for each section. I never used the questions from the Q Bank until I finished watching all lecture videos. And for those, I randomly picked from all sections. For the notes, I used PowerPoint, so that I can insert notes and organize by section as I did MCQ's randomly. I hope this makes sense, but please let me know again if you have any further questions.
Thank you for the great video. This helps me a lot. Could you tell me why you chose Roger as a base review program? There are lots of CPA courses out there such as Becker, Surgent or Wiley and hard to pick the right one.
Thank you for your comment and question. I chose Roger simply because it was cheaper than other major courses, had a great bundle deal with Ultimate CPA Exam Guide, and it looked good. But in the end, I thought it was a good choice for me. I believe all the major courses you mentioned above are good. I have a feeling that Becker is probably the best, but I haven't used them, so it's just based on what I heard and read. Roger is very passionate and hilarious, so I never got bored watching his lectures which was important for me because I can lose attention very easily. I think their other materials aren't as good as Becker, and their BEC contents are very light. I think each has pros and cons, but Roger was good enough for me.
@@sugarcpaus2091 Thanks again for your detailed explanation. I am too, being distracted and got bored very easily. I really like your organized approach (inputting in a short time and intensive output by practicing later) and will try to keep up my motivation. I understand the core is how videos are excited, memorable and understandable. Roger is the choice. Thanks so much for uploading great videos!
Thanks so much for this video. I do not recommend Wiley test bank because they did not explain why the answer was right or wrong. Could u share with me what test bank u do not recommend? I am looking at ninja and gleim. I'm using yaeger now but thinking of switching to Roger or Gleim. I am older than you. Thanks
Thank you for your comments. Gleim is the one that I do not recommend as a secondary test bank. The simulation test bank was a pain in the neck as it had zero flexibility. You have to do all the questions in each chapter to see the correct answers. It was horrible. If you purchase Gleim as the primary study material, you wouldn't have that problem though.
Thank you for your comment and question! The test bank I didn't like was Gleim. Don't get me wrong though, I believe they are a good review course, but the reason I wanted to buy a test bank was mainly for TBS, but I was not satisfied with their TBS test bank format.
Thank you for your comment and question. Yes, TBS are difficult, and I think a lot of people struggle in the beginning, including myself. First, you have to understand the concepts, so before I started practicing TBS questions, I did at least 300 to 400 MCQ's. Even after that, I struggled, but I kept practicing, and I basically used all practice questions in my main review course and also did many of them in my supplement test bank. It takes a lot of practice, so even if you are struggling at the beginning, don't worry too much and keep practicing. And try the memorization techniques that I showed in my other video. Read the explanations on the questions you missed, take notes, read the notes and try to recall what the question was. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have further questions. Thanks again!
Could you let me know the test bank that you would not recommend. Did you use a tutor. I commend you for passing the exam. I am older than you and I am preparing to take the exam. Again congratulations on passing I wish you great success in the future sir.
Thank you for your comments and questions. The one that I hated was Gleim. I'm sure they have good materials if you use it as the primary review course, but if you just buy the test bank, it really sucks, especially the simulation questions. You have to answer all the questions in each chapter to see the right answer. I hated it.
As for a tutor, I used Kesler which is like a mentoring program for CPA and it comes with tutors, but you can only ask 2 questions per week. But I took advantage of that service.
Came across your video, very helpful. I have been using gleim as my study material and I am studying REG (done with 3 reading of mcq and 2 stimulation of all chapters) and still score in between 60-70%. I started with your mcq pattern of doing random mcq from all syllabus. Hope that works. Any other advice?
Thank you so much for making this video! This was very helpful and encouraging! There's still hope for the rest of us. (haha) When you watched the videos, did you work on the questions in each video? Or just the questions on the last video? Your prompt reply would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Thank you for your comments and questions. In Roger review course, they have what they call classroom questions at the end of each video, usually just 3 to 5, and I did those after watching each video. Just MCQs, and not simulations. I didn't use any of the questions in the test bank until I completed all videos. Hope it answered your question, but please let me know if you have further questions. And best of luck!!
@@sugarcpaus2091 Yes, thank you very much for answering my questions so quickly! I really appreciate it! By the way, did you schedule your exams all at once or one by one?
Thank you for your comment and questions. I studied for 3 weeks for REG, which was the shortest, but most intense because I struggled with REG the most. So, I studied more hours per day than other sections. As for FAR, I studied once about 25 years ago, but not since then. But I have been in FP&A for many years, so although not really accounting, I've always been dealing with financials. Hope that answered your question, but please let me know if you have further questions.
@@sugarcpaus2091 that’s amazing. Currently working full time and having difficulties with studying. Currently 36 and working full time as an auditor, specifically assurance, in big 4 (just to give a context of what I am dealing with work) and planning to take REG in a month. I started reviewing 4 days ago and I am not sure if I can finish what I have to study on time. I’m using Becker (firm sponsored). What you have accomplished is simply amazing. Congratulations!
Thank you again! Working full time and taking an exam is tough. I hope you can take some days off before the exam. It took me a while to understand all the confusing details of itemized deduction and AGI. Good luck on your exam, and please feel free to ask questions anytime!
Thank you for your comment & question. For FAR, I ran out of time. For BEC, I stayed for about 3hrs & 30min. For AUD, I used full 4hrs. For REG, I stayed for about 3hrs & 50min.
@@sugarcpaus2091 Thank you for responding. How long did you study for each section? because I see your FAR and BEC is expired at same time. So did you took 2 exams in the same month? Thank you
I studied 7 weeks for FAR, 3.5 weeks for BEC & AUD, & 3 weeks for REG. Took FAR on 1/22, BEC on 2/14, AUD on 3/9, & REG on 3/30. So, I took AUD & REG in the same month, but somehow the scores of FAR & BEC expire in the same month. I'm not sure how that works...
Hello. I came across your video and wanted to ask you, I graduated 2001 and never practiced, never worked in the same field or anything close to it. My knowledge is obsolete. Can you please advise how do I start studying/reviewing again and where to start. Would really appreciate your reply.
I'm sorry for my late reply. Well, I was in the financial planning, but my knowledge of accounting, tax, and business law were pretty much obsolete as well. I would recommend that you start from FAR, by watching videos and then doing MCQ's. I'm sure you'll start to pick up after a while.
Got it. I will be making a video for each section of the exam soon, and I will talk about that, but basically, it's scored by AI, so key words are more important than English grammar. The key is to have the opening, main, and conclusion paragraphs, and put all the important key words in each of the paragraphs. But again, I'll talk more about that in the video. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment and question. I don't recommend Gleim as a supplement test bank. I believe they are good if you use it as the primary review course, but the supplement is no good.
Once I got comfortable with MCQ's, then I started simulations. Roger has something called Cram Course which is a condensed version of the lecture videos, so I watched them as well. And from 5 days to 1 week before the exam, I did the mock exam. And the day before the exam, I did flagged and missed MCQ's. Hope it's clear, but let me know if you have further questions.
Question: When you said, “watch all videos,” does it mean from first video of chapter 1 to the last video of the last chapter then practice and take note? Or does it mean watch all video of chapter 1 then practice and take note, then continue to chapter 2? Did you watch the videos again?
The former. Watched from first video of chapter 1 to the last video of the last chapter then practice and take notes. Roger has two sets of videos, full version and short version. The short version is actually not very short, so it was like wathcing them twice.
It's Gleim. I believe their material is good if you use it as the main review course, but their supplemental test bank is no good, especially the simulations.
hi I am looking for additional resources and wanted to find out which one you would not recommend. I am considering buying a study tool and on the fence about it.
Gleim is the one that I don't recommend especially if you want to practice simulation questions. The material is very user-unfriendly, and expensive. I was much happier with Ninja.
Is there any particular reason why you took both FAR and BEC on the same day 04/30/2022. I am in my 30s and planning to switch careers into accounting so I am encouraged by your story to work towards passing the CPA exam.
Thank you for your comments and questions, and I apologize for my late response as I have been traveling. They actually weren't on the same day. 4/30/22 is the score expiration date. I took FAR on 1/21/22 and BEC on 2/14/22. Best of luck and let me know if you have any further questions.
Gleim is the one that wasn't very good as a supplement test bank. I believe they are good if you use it as the main review course, but if you just buy the test bank, their simulation test bank is very difficult to use. MCQ's are ok.
Thanks so much for this motivation. I'm turning 35, a mother and on a career break with MBA degree. We r in the USA now and wish to pursue CPA, being from non-accounting background, is it possible? Am I eligible?
Thank you for your comments and questions. In order to take the CPA exam, you have to meet certain requirements. I think this site should answer your question, but please let me know if you have further questions. www.becker.com/cpa-review/requirements
Initially, I did 50 MC's per day, and as I got better and faster, I did about 100 a day. As for TBS's, I did like 3 or 4 per day in the beginning, then increased to more than 10 a day. I wasn't working full-time, so I studied more than 35 hours a week, but I think 30 is good if you work full time.
What helped you the most for ultimate cpa exam guide mentorship? Do you think doing only Ninja mcq is comparable to doing roger mcq? Would you recommend more than 1 mock exam?
As for Kesler Ultimate, what I really liked was the tutorship and the facebook community. You can ask the tutor up to 2 questions per week, and I used that every week because there were always some questions that I never could figure out. I liked Roger MCQ better. Ninja is good enough, but the look and feel is different from the actual test environment which bothered me a bit. I think 1 mock exam is enough, but for the first section, you may want to do two to get used to sitting and concentrating for 4 hours :)
@@sugarcpaus2091 I agree, my view is the exact same. I like rogers format way better than ninja for that purpose of it looking similar to the real exam!! Thank you for your tips!!
The one I didn't like was Gleim (I used it though). I do believe it is a good program, however, I wanted to practice TBS & Research Q's in random order, but their test bank doesn't allow users to do that (you have to go chapter by chapter). The MCQ test bank was good, but that wasn't my main reason to buy the supplement test bank.
It's Gleim. I believe their material is good if you use it as the main review course, but their supplemental test bank is no good, especially the simulations. Good luck the rest of the way!
Can you clarify…did you watch all the lectures, so for roger all 25 chapters in a row and then do all the MCQ? Did you do all 1700 roger mcq before moving on to the tbs?
Thank you for your question. I believe you are referring to FAR, but when I studied for FAR, I didn't have this method at the beginning, so I did 5-10 MCQ's after watching and reading each chapter, up to chapter 7. Then, I realized that it was not a good approach for me, so from thereon, I watched all videos from chapter 8-25 before doing any more MCQ's. Roger has class questions in the very last chapter, so I did those after each chapter though. For all other sections, I watched all videos and did class questions (just MCQ's), then moved to MCQ's. I started TBS when I felt comfortable with MCQ's. So, step #3 and 4 overlap. I hope it makes sense, but please let me know again if you have further questions. Also, if you watch my videos on each section, you can see the real life examples of this method which may help explain.
Yes sorry, Doing FAR, done about 5 chapters in 4 weeks, it’s clearly not working, your story sounds almost identical to mine so I a lm going to copy your style thank you. I wi watch lectures 6-25 or whatever it is starting tomorrow before I do anymore MCQ.
I took notes using PowerPoint and broke them out into chapters. By organizing the notes well, it's easy to look for things later. You can see a glimpse of my notes in my REG video (at 3:49), if you are interested :)
What areas are highly tested on FAR? I have heard Bonds, Financial Instruments, i.e. Equity Method, Fair Value, etc. Leases, GOV'T, and EPS. These are the topics I hear that you should study for sure. Any suggestions?
I thought it was pretty much in line with the blueprint. It felt like government was heavy, but I think it's just because I was weak in that area. Simulations were really difficult, so I suggest that you practice as many as you can, especially the big ones, and try to leave as much time for sims. I ran out of time and couldn't finish the last question. I will be posting AUD video today, and FAR hopefully next week, so I hope that will be in time for you.
It's Gleim. I'm sure it's a good review course overall, but the main reason I wanted to get a supplement test bank was TBS, but if you purchase only the test bank, their TBS bank is not the best. I hear a lot of great things about Becker and Universal, so I believe you are in good hands :)
I actually live in the USA, though I am in Japan half of the time. It's through my former colleagues. I think having the CPA helps my colleagues sell me inside their companies. I believe they would be saying like "this guy is very smart, he is a CPA, and is trustworthy" or something like that to get approval to hire me :)
Nice video but for me the thing missing was the total amount of time you spent studying for each of the sections. I think focusing in on the 2 months you took to pass is great but did you spend 18 months studying for each of the sections, start to finish?
Thank you for your question. Actually, that was going to be my next video, but I just started another business recently, and I have to focus on that for the time being, so it will take some time to get to it. 2 months is the time it took from passing the first section to the last section, which seems to be how everyone counts the time it took to pass the CPA exam. If I include the time I studied for the first section it would be about 4 months. FAR was my first section, and I didn't have the study method yet, so it took much longer than other sections. Yes, 4 months is still very short, but I didn't have a full-time job, so I was able to study 5 to 6 hours everyday, which is probably difficult for those who work full time.
@@sugarcpaus2091 Thanks for the response and the answer to my question. Good luck on the new business! I'm 43 and just passed after taking 8 months. I took FAR last and had to take it twice because I couldn't study as much as I wanted the first time due to work.
Thanks for your comments and question. I think AICPA's website would be the best place to find the answer, but let me know if you have further questions. www.aicpa.org/resources/toolkit/cpa-exam
I used Excel. Roger's software has that functionality, but I wanted to look at 3-day moving average, so that I don't get overly excited or depressed by one good/bad day :)
Roger's software gives you the average score by chapter, so I looked at that. I'm sure all the major review courses have that as well. I could also tell from doing MCQ's and taking notes. Naturally, the notes on weak topic get longer, e.g., government in FAR.
I watched all the videos for the entire book before starting questions. I know this is different from how other people suggest, but thought it was very effective :)
Sir can you guide me. I am acca qualified. Soon will be acca member. Which usa state allows acca members equavalent to bachelors and directly sit in exams. Because i am asian and not a usa resident. It will be helpful for me.
I had the accounting degree from a U.S. university and am a U.S. resident, so I didn't have to go through what you are having to go through. That said, I asked ChatGPT this question, and it told me that following states are known to accept ACCA qualification as equivalent: Colorado, New Hampshire, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Alabama, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The information is from 2 years ago, so you should check with the state board of accountancy to make sure.
It really depends on your background. If you already have met the educational requirement, then you can start by buying one of the review courses. If not, you need to start from enrolling in a college. Tell me more and I can let you know more.
For BEC there are a lot of formulas and equations, when you say you watched all videos first and go back to do MCQ, how do you remember the calculations to solve the problems? For me, I could get all wrong answers and have to go back to read the entire chapter for the calculations. Please guide. I spent 2 weeks on sec 1,2 and havent finished and my exam is coming in 15 days. 😢
I couldn't get many MCQ's correct the first time around. But as I do more, I start getting them correct. For the missed questions, I would read the text and take notes, and I would write down the formulas, equations, journal entries, and t-accounts. I made a video on memorization technique which talks about how to take notes and that might help you. I only watched videos at the beginning, but because I miss so many questions, and I read the text on those, I end up reading the entire textbook (multiple times for difficult concepts). Wow, 15 days is not a lot of time. If I remember correctly, you can pay a small fee and move the exam date, right?
@@sugarcpaus2091 I did reschedule one. Because BEC will be changed next year, so I have to pass it before the last date to get NTS is Nov 12. So I want to have multiple attemps before that day. I already went through 1/3 of the materials, hope I could make it. But I also mentally prepare to fail at least 1
Sir - Your videos are very helpful. Request your help on a question related to exam fees. If you have applied as an international student - can you please help me with a question related to exam fees? If I apply for one section at a time do I need to pay $170/- (First Time Application Fees) for first section and $90/- (Re-Exam Application Fees) for rest of the three sections irrespective that I am giving exam for all the sections first time? Please help if my understanding is correct. Since all other fees (Examination & International Testing Fees) are per section based therefore that is very much clear.
Thank you for your comments and questions. I took it in the US, so it maybe different, but if I remember correctly, I paid the one-time initial application fee, and then paid the fee for each section. But it was much more than $90 per section. It's probably different for international student, so you may want to check with someone in your country.
Thank you for your question. I used Roger as the main course and Gleim, Ninja, and Kesler as the supplement. Roger and Ninja were good. I believe all the major course like Becker, Gleim, etc. are good. But Gleim was not good as a supplemental test bank.
I haven't used becker, but I believe it is good based on what I read on reddit and other forums. But I have also read some negative comments about them too. I don't think any review courses are perfect, but if you use any of the major ones and put in enough hours and study the right way, you can pass :)
Thank you. Just a few more thoughts on review courses. I think Becker is probably one of the best, and that's why it's expensive. Sometimes I wished I used Becker, because Roger was weak in some areas, for example, it doesn't have the authoritative literature in their software, so I had to use the external sources, and they don't have a lot of sim questions for the BEC section, so I had to buy a supplement test bank. On the other hand, Roger is probably the best instructor with his passion and humor, I never got bored watching his lectures. So, all the review courses have strengths and weaknesses, but I think all major ones are good.
I recommend Becker. Using it now after failing FAR and AUD twice with Surgent. Passed those two I failed as well as REG on the next round of testing after using Becker. Only have BEC to go now in two weeks.
@@RealRickR wow.. Congratulations Rick!! Can u also plz tell about your preparation strategy from the first day till the date u appeared for your exam with becker material. Thanks and am really looking for your reply.
I think so. Honestly, I'm working as a independent consultant now outside of accounting, but gaining confidence and being able to put CPA on my business card is powerful.
Thank you for your questions. No, it's not very hard, and sure anyone can become a CPA as long as you meet all the education requirements. Students have more time to study, but older people have more experience, so unless you work a lot of over time, you can definitely pass!
The one I didn't like was Gleim (I used it though). I do believe it is a good program if you use it as the main review course, however, I wanted to practice TBS & Research Q's in random order, but their test bank doesn't allow users to do that (you have to go chapter by chapter). The MCQ test bank was good, but that wasn't my main reason to buy the supplement test bank.
How effective was the Kessler ultimate CPA EXAM GUIDE ( their mentoring/ tutorial) ? If you had to pick one between ninja or Kessler as a supplemental study guide which one would it be? Did you use both Kessler and Ninja supplemental questions for all 4 sections (FAR, AUD,REG,BEC)?
Thank you for your questions! There were two things I liked about Kesler, 1) the tutor - they let us ask two questions per week on MCQ's, and they respond within like 24 hours. This was helpful because there are some question that I never understood from textbook or Google. 2) the Facebook community - I believe some review courses have it, but Roger doesn't, so this was helpful to talk to the peers. As a supplemental test bank, I would choose Ninja over Kesler if I had to pick one, but they are both monthly subscriptions and inexpensive, I would use both. I used Gleim for FAR, but it was expensive and their Simulation test bank was horrible. I used Ninja and Kesler for BEC and AUD, and Kesler only for REG (other than my main review course, Roger). Hope this answered your question, but let me know again, if you have any further questions :)

Don't be discouraged! you got this.I failed Aud 4 times and Far 3 times before passing. You just need to be consistent and keep at it.

@@sugarcpaus2091 ty I'm looking for a tutor to teach me how to study. Ty
@@sugarcpaus2091 I have them. They are not good to me. To many videos to watch
Maybe I'll review the materials again. Ty
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a similar background so it’s very encouraging. For the non-native English speaker, which section was the hardest, and how did you study for it?
Thank you for the comment. To me, REG was the hardest. But I didn't do anything special. Just followed the same steps, but studied more hours.
Thank you again. That’s what I thought. REG is a lot of English. I’ll be prepared.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! Hope it helps!
All 4 exams in 2 months? Wow!

Thanks for the video. I am also 46 and thinking about taking the CPA. Which prep course is a bad one that you don’t recommend?
Congratulation on it. Sid you get any good job offers?
Thank you! I had a few, but I chose to become an independent consultant :)
@@sugarcpaus2091 That's also a great choice. Congratulations and all the best for your brighter career.

You would probably need a supplemental review courses as well, and I liked Ninja which was worth the money. Enjoy studying and good luck on your exam!
Nice to hear your strategies and it will give you confidence to enroll in CPA. Which review material do you not recommend ?
Thank you for your comment and question! The test bank I didn't like was Gleim. Don't get me wrong though, I believe they are a good review course, but the reason I wanted to buy a test bank was mainly for TBS, but I was not satisfied with their TBS test bank format.
Thank you for your very useful advice! I’m struggling with TBS, do you have some suggestions regarding to this type of questions? Thank you very much!

Thank you for your comments and questions. In Roger review course, they have what they call classroom questions at the end of each video, usually just 3 to 5, and I did those after watching each video. Just MCQs, and not simulations. @@sugarcpaus2091 Yes, thank you very much for answering my questions so quickly! I really appreciate it! By the way, did you schedule your exams all at once or one by one?
You're welcome. I scheduled one by one, when I felt I was ready for each section.
hi do you do ALL the lecture videos first, then do the mcqs? or do you do lecture a then mcq a then lecture b, then mcq b?
I watched all the lecture videos first, then did mcq's. I think that was one of the success factors to pass quickly.
awesome! how long did you study for REG? When you passed FAR, was it your first time studying for the following subjects?
Thank you for your comment and questions. I studied for 3 weeks for REG, which was the shortest, but most intense because I struggled with REG the most. So, I studied more hours per day than other sections. As for FAR, I studied once about 25 years ago, but not since then. But I have been in FP&A for many years, so although not really accounting, I've always been dealing with financials. Hope that answered your question, but please let me know if you have further questions.

I'm sorry for my late reply. Well, I was in the financial planning, but my knowledge of accounting, tax, and business law were pretty much obsolete as well. I would recommend that you start from FAR, by watching videos and then doing MCQ's. I'm sure you'll start to pick up after a while.
Can you make the video about w/c on BEC for ESOL candidates😄 thank you
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Please let me know which review I shouldn't refer to?
Thanks for your comment and question. I don't recommend Gleim as a supplement test bank. I believe they are good if you use it as the primary review course, but the supplement is no good.
Wow Highly respect your efforts !
Thank you for your comment!! And good luck to you if you are studying for CPA now!
starting CPA. Using becker. I am almost panicking. Give some suggestions please.
So you watch the lecture at 1.5 speed, do MCQ’s, assess and then what? Do you now rewatch the video to see what notes to make?
Thank you.

hi I am looking for additional resources and wanted to find out which one you would not recommend.
Which review course i shouldn't buy?
Gleim is the one that wasn't very good as a supplement test bank. I believe they are good if you use it as the main review course, but if you just buy the test bank, their simulation test bank is very difficult to use. MCQ's are ok.
Thanks so much for this motivation.

How many multiple choices about chapters or parts do you review every day ? And TBS
Do you highly recommend 30H a week ?
Initially, I did 50 MC's per day, and as I got better and faster, I did about 100 a day. As for TBS's, I did like 3 or 4 per day in the beginning, then increased to more than 10 a day. I wasn't working full-time, so I studied more than 35 hours a week, but I think 30 is good if you work full time.
thank you for your advice. Yes, I work almost 40H a week and traffic. I will do a maximum of 100 and TBS.
I note weak points on PowerPoint.
I would like to know which one you didn't use. I have i75 and universal CPA with Becker
Which exam review course do you not suggest? I am 47 years. Cleared BEC.
It's Gleim. I believe their material is good if you use it as the main review course, but their supplemental test bank is no good, especially the simulations. Good luck the rest of the way!
Thank you@@sugarcpaus2091
No problem. That's what I suggest. You want to save those MCQ's till later :)
@@sugarcpaus2091 when you would take notes on MCQ, did you break them out into chapters or was it all combined?

@@sugarcpaus2091 connections are essential. I'll ask for your help to get the work
Nice video but for me the thing missing was the total amount of time you spent studying for each of the sections.
Thank you, and congratulations! Working full time and passing in 8 months is amazing!
Thanks alot for the video but how can I apply for cpa and which school can I enrol at???
Thanks for your comments and question. I think AICPA's website would be the best place to find the answer, but let me know if you have further questions.

@@sugarcpaus2091 Thanks alot
How did you track your progress? Did you use Excel or your CPA review was able to do it for you?
I used Excel. Roger's software has that functionality, but I wanted to look at 3-day moving average, so that I don't get overly excited or depressed by one good/bad day :)
@@sugarcpaus2091 wow. Also how were you able to track you weak topic or topic you had difficulty in?
Roger's software gives you the average score by chapter, so I looked at that. I'm sure all the major review courses have that as well. I could also tell from doing MCQ's and taking notes. Naturally, the notes on weak topic get longer, e.g., government in FAR.
hii can you please tell me what should I opt kesler or ninja ..i have exam this month only and need something for practice.
I would pick Ninja, if I have to choose. I did both, and they both helped.
Thank you
Did you watch all the videos for the entire book? Or chapter by chapter?
@@sugarcpaus2091 ok. Thanks a lot sir.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
i want to bexome a CPA what do you suggest i should start first
It really depends on your background. If you already have met the educational requirement, then you can start by buying one of the review courses. If not, you need to start from enrolling in a college. Tell me more and I can let you know more.
What is the secret book?
Thanks a lot Sir 🙏🙏
Can u please refer the textbooks u studied
Thank you for your question. I used Roger as the main course and Gleim, Ninja, and Kesler as the supplement. Roger and Ninja were good. I believe all the major course like Becker, Gleim, etc. are good. But Gleim was not good as a supplemental test bank.
How do u think is becker products and material... Just want to know your views
I haven't used becker, but I believe it is good based on what I read on reddit and other forums. But I have also read some negative comments about them too. I don't think any review courses are perfect, but if you use any of the major ones and put in enough hours and study the right way, you can pass :)
@@sugarcpaus2091 sure.. Thanks for your awesome videos and advices. 🍻
Was being a CPA Worth it? I'm asking this as a failure
I think so. Honestly, I'm working as a independent consultant now outside of accounting, but gaining confidence and being able to put CPA on my business card is powerful.
It is very hard for after graduation student?my dream to become cpa...i am from India our graduation only 3 year after can i join to cpa?
Thank you for your questions. No, it's not very hard, and sure anyone can become a CPA as long as you meet all the education requirements. Students have more time to study, but older people have more experience, so unless you work a lot of over time, you can definitely pass!
Hey if you are from India . I would advise you to join Simandhar CPA , they have classes with Indian teachers and they also give Becker access .
What test bank to avoid?
Can I talk to you please?
I travel a lot and am in different time zones, so I prefer chatting here, if you don't mind.
Is it just me or I see only Asians and Indians posting these types of Videos?😂
