I don't think Kurt was ever really happy, but his sadness made him create a lot of really cool songs that still mean so much to people. Nirvana is one of the bands where each year they existed was like a unique era. When they are playing the In Utero songs in ‘92 but he doesn’t have all the lyrics yet and when it’s still just the three of them up there. He has a sense of humor even with the stomach pain. That’s my favorite era of Nirvana.
My favorite part of this song is the association of being dumb with being happy. I have often felt I am at my dumbest when I am happy. Everything feels so good when you're happy that you sometimes miss the obvious.

Sitting here this morning, watching some of these old gigs, makes me remember just how special this band was.

Seing them at "Dramatico de Cascais" in the only live concert that they gave in Portugal, just 2 months before Kurt's death, was one off my youth happiest days!!

I feel like I was born yesterday because I didn't realize this song was as old as 92. That's what's so mysterious about Nirvana, when you try to overanalyze the music and lyrics you find out he wrote so many songs before and after life events that can't be correlated to his actual life or feelings. Almost genius the way he kept everything so cryptic and neutral throughout his career. When i was young growing up in the early 90's, at night trying to go to sleep, i'd sing different Nirvana songs to put me to sleep, without really knowing who or what band sung them. I feel like I was born yesterday because I didn't realize this song was as old as 92. That's what's so mysterious about Nirvana, when you try to overanalyze the music and lyrics you find out he wrote so many songs before and after life events that can't be correlated to his actual life or feelings. Almost genius the way he kept everything so cryptic and neutral throughout his career. I think we all were overcome with the deppresive In Utero vibes but in reality this song was much older and he could have written it about anyone or anything...mind blown
This concert was genius. I Believe he is still alive in our heads and our hearts. In my head I hope he is still alive living somewhere. Enjoying being left alone.

When i was young growing up in the early 90's, at night trying to go to sleep, i'd sing different Nirvana songs to put me to sleep, without really knowing who or what band sung them. I later found out who sung them a year or two ago....the legendary Kurt Cobain / Nirvana. I feel like Kurt left us WAY too soon! He'd be putting out kick ass music now days too, i betcha..
Dumb is one of the best songs I ever heard in my life, and when Curt died is the day when rock died and almost all good music too.

I still remember the first time I heard In Utero. I was making eggs in 8th grade (I'm in 11th grade now) during October and it blew me away. But I must say the song that stuck out for me the most was this one. Once I got it on my iPod, I played it over and over and over again. It definitely is one of my favorite NIRVANA songs.
