It saddens me to see so many people immediately throw the "ricer" card at this guy. He loves his car and he chose to do these things to his ride and as you can see its even gotten him many awards. This man has bonded with his Honda isn't that how things should be? "The stanced look, cause that's what I like. You do what makes you happy" He did what made him happy and that's how it should be and he did a great job.

The term rice is too commonly used, nowadays. The funny fact of the matter: every kid behind a phone will call a Honda rice, although, this is extremely clean and well done. Never in their life could they have the luxury of owning a NOT riced out EK, simply because it takes a lot of work.
The history of the statement "Rice," evolved as a insult to insanely overdone Japanese cars. It is amusing by how someone, now, will call any FWD, any Honda, any automatic, any lowered, and overall ANYTHING (even if it's stock) a ricer. Hm... Well that displays pure ignorance, doesn't it?

I suppose it is personal opinion but seriously that car is not rice. Everything is clean. There is no massive bomex body kit and he has modified the engine a bit. It does not have a "Fart cannon" and for people complaining about the air bags not being any good for the ride or performance the car is not made to just perform, it was also done like that for shows. And like what he said about ordering his body kit direct from Honda to guarantee the best fit. Would a ricer do that? No, or at least I do not think so and yes he has camber but it looks very nice and clean and about what he said about smoothing and rolling the wheel arches. Not rice. Just a very clean car with an owner who is passionate and cares about his car.

How are people calling this rice? It doesn't have a disgusting Body Kit or a obnoxious exhaust. It's clean, and it looks good. Oh and by the way this has a B16 motor. By no means is this slow, and I guarantee you this would destroy a Vette at a track. Honda hate is getting real old.

I would never own a Honda... but that is pretty clean looking. You can tell he really put a lot of work into it and really has a strong attachment to his car. Thats what it is all about. Doesn't change whether you love JDM, American Muscle, German, British, Exotics, etc.

I think because we want to see if there's anything we're missing. For me, it's not that I HATE jdm, cars are cars.. cars are fun to drive. They just don't look good to me, I don't want to dislike them.. but this car is ugly. (In my opinion)

Garzak Dude power isn't a direct result of number of cylinders/layout... The Honda S2k in 1999 made about 237-247, that's a N/A 4 cyl. 240 HP for a I6 is pretty much as impressive as 240 for an I4. BMW had power ranging from 138 to 240 HP in the US during the 90's which is a very similar range for Honda in 1999.

This guy is an inspiration to me, that may sound stupid, but the amount of effort that has been put into the car car is amazing. I mean the engine and parts under the hood is truly one of a kind and despite the amount of hate on stanced cars these days is unbelievable. I like the fact he has done what makes him happy not what other people want to do

Totally agree. I'm not a Honda fan at all but I don't hate them or make fun of them when done well. I even kind of like that body style in general compared to the newer ones...but there is no car on the planet that looks good with the that stupid "stance" style with pointlessly excessive camber and stretched tires. I don't mind a tiny bit of poke with some aggressive performance looking wheels and a lowered ride height. It would look soooo much better with a proper suspensions and wheel set up.
Bones12x2 I respectfully disagree. The stance makes the car look mean! Very clean and slick at the same time! I get that the rear looks aggressively cambered, but as long as it doesn't hurt the cars performance I say thumbs up for the clean/mean look!

I'm coming from the world of M3's, 3 of them in the past 5 years and have just driven my first Honda EK Hatch a few weeks ago. I understand the hype now. It's a very fun car. A little optimism goes far I guess.

IndE36M3 Wow, I'm happy about this post honestly (don't care how gay that sounds). It really upsets me how much people hate on these cars, but probably 80% of them have never tested one out. I myself own a '00 EK Coupe, and its really fun car. I know its not the fastest car in the world, but with a little determination you can get it to go fast if done well. Also I agree don't buy fart cans I bought one from ebay, and I want a new exhaust system already, haha.
this car is actually fairly clean (I mean, VERY CLEAN) and is modded right. I know it's not a performance car as it's also a daily for him, but hey it's not rice. it's nice and all. atleast Type R comes with a good starting performance to get modificating, and the camber is pretty fine. the airbags suspension are something I might buy for my car rather than a very solid suspension that hits and snaps my ass everytime it bumps. this is a good example of a Civic used properly. love it!

reading the comments on these videos is kind of a love/hate thing. I love to read them so what kind of insight there are to the video at hand, but I hate the fact that any asshole with the internet loves to post about something they don't even understand.
1. This car has one of the best engines ever produced, in one of the best cars ever produced.
2. The exterior is STOCK, no body kit.
3. Yes negative camber can be good for cornering, but it is aided by proper dampening and bracing, which this car DOES NOT have.
4. It is very clean, and hats off to this guy, though I'm not a fan of stance.
5. Please, if you are uninformed, get informed before you make an ass of yourself. It is better to be thought of as idiot, than to speak and remove all doubt.
i just got my ek9 running, got it two weeks ago. man im in love just like this guy. when i got it it didnt even run. it was a disaster after 1 week im on the road and boy it runs.
I think a lot of people need to respect other people's interests and builds. Not everyone is the same. As expressed in the video, you build the car for yourself, not everyone else. You aren't a car enthusiast if you hate on everyone's car that isn't exactly what you like. Period.

Most RIcers are Hondas? That's not true at all. Subaru with there big wing that's rice. The guy with the base model mustang with cobra badges and cobra rims is rice, Pontiac firebird with dragon decals on side is rice.
The reason a Honda was referred to being Rice is because they last so damn long they accumulate wear and being that so many are produced parts are easy to find. Lots of models produced by Honda are interchangeable. Example integra/civic. Rear disc, seats, engine mounts, exhaust you can flip flop with no issues or lil fab work. The whole black hood thing became cool cause someone needed a hood and it was deemed JDM. If I wasnt a Honda fan, Id buy a parts car and rock 10 color body panels too. My user pic says it all.

Arcane I ain't hating on the guy, I was just puzzled why he would spend that much money on a civic, like what it is with the civic that he likes so much. People have different taste I get that, but a civic is not suppose to be fast, it's literally suppose to be a entry level economic car. I honestly do not hate Honda, my parents have been buying hondas forever and I think they are extremely fuel efficient and reliable, but I wouldn't think of them as a sports car or a fast car for that matter. Not saying hondas can't be fast but 99% of civics that are modified on the road are fart can loud as fuck, slow as hell. I drive a 07 G35x, I haven't modified it majorly at all because I find it to be a bad platform, it's luxury somewhat fast I'll keep it at what it does best. I'm puzzled at all civics that are modified to any extent, it's a FWD that I don't think has good characteristic at all right from the start, put more power torque steer for years. So end of the day I don't get why a civic.

Car culture is about loving the cars we have and respecting other people's cars unless they disrespect another persons. It's pride and respect. Anyone who's been out to a car meet and talked to other people about their cars and their hard work understands that. The rest are either keyboard warriors or too discontent with their own accomplishments. Camber doesn't equate to rice.
I think that this car exemplifies his personality. Perfectionist and he has an eye for detail. I'm more of a brute force kinda guy, but with that nice fit and finish look. Its the small details that make the best show cars.
Isn't *rice* all about aesthetic mods that don't enhance performance (whatever the performance desired is)? That was my understanding. And stance is _all_ about a particular "look". Therefore, isn't stance the epitome of rice?

Negative chamber is actually something racecars use to keep as much surface area of the tire on the pavement at all times, stancing your car, however, completely obliterates the handling, which is why he has these ridiculous tires fitted, so he can get at least some of the tire touching the road. If the owner has visaul preferences its another story. ricing isnt about the look its about going slow with the look. Anything stanced is rice. Even if it has a powerful motor or was made from the factory to be fast. Standing has absolutely no benefits to the performance. It looks like somebody stepped on the car and the wheels squished out. Rice is pointless cosmetic modifications. That's what stancing is, and you can say that's his style and it's what he likes, but then that means if you call someone putting a wing on a car and you thinks it looks stupid and call it rice then your a hypocrite. You can't pick and choose what you think is rice because some looks better than others.
I’d disagree, stancing is something you’d have to either like or not. I get why a lot of people don’t like it but with the right amount of camber it looks nice to me. Also if you were to go by any pointless cosmetic enhancement then you’re talking EVERY cosmetic enhancement on a daily. You don’t daily for speed you daily to be able to drive daily, and adding cosmetic enhancements is fine because maybe you’d want to look good while driving. It’s like makeup or dressing nice, people’s shoes, having a clean or nice house etc..
Also to add on, for people that daily and do track then yes I can understand not wanting to put useless cosmetic enhancements. That’s actually what I’d do myself. Only do WORKING wings, better tires and other performance mods. Although wheels I would go for cosmetic because you know... you can only really improve wheels with the weight difference.

Camber isn't rice, it has engine mods so it isn't rice. Also the camber is done correctly and properly.
He camberd his ride for a reason! Ricer does that just for looks, His car has airRide and in order to lower his car he needed camber or tires would rub on fenders... And he also stretch his tires for the same reason.
