ASUS PG348Q Review - 34" Curved Ultrawide 100Hz IPS Monitor
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 кві 2016
- The ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q is a behemoth of the monitor in its size, weight, and spec sheet. It has a 34" curved ultrawide screen with a resolution of 3440 by 1440, a 100Hz refresh rate, a response time of 5ms, and NVidia's G-Sync technology. Did it live up to my high expectations?
Thanks again to ASUS South Africa for sending this monitor over for review.

well done.. very professional review.. keep it up!
Nice review. Watched two of your videos and i'm liking your style. Subbed.
Thanks man! I appreciate your sub! Hope I continue to impress.
Really would love to get my hands on this monitor myself. Would like to do my own review and your review was awesome by the way.
How was the backlight bleed on yours, I got one and it was pretty bad for the bleed, so I replaced it and the new one seems to have the same problem
I got mine two weeks ago from a company in VA, I love it
+KorRrnBred Good deal. You have any issues with yours? See many talk about how review samples don't have backlight bleed, but the ones in the wild do.
+UFDisciple no issues so far
Great review. You've earned a sub!
+Atomic Dominick Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words!
is the blacklight bleeding issue a normal on this monitor? mine is not terrible , but is there. not sure if i should return this and pray for a better one.
Man! you deserve more subs the video looks professional.
Thanks for that! Appreciate the compliment!
Fantastic review. Very informative!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
That review sample though. Review samples should be the norm for all.
exactly. and 90% of the other ones not sent to reviewers have the most horrendous amoutn of back light bleed i've ever seen
Seriously, I'm ordering all my stuff via the South Africa store lol
I know right. all these reviewers get perfect monitors. meanwhile paying customers get shafted. I dont even think they quality check monitors. either that or they have a blind man checking them.
Nice to see u dabbling into monitors too ;) Keep going!
+CheDeLila Thanks! Appreciate the kind words.
***** Good work needs always support, more when there is so much hating in this social networks. Sincere support!
Thanks for the review dude. I've had to trawl through a couple of useless ones before I found this!
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate you watching!
Can I reach 100Hz (OC) with a single GTX 1080 on Asus ROG PG348Q with ''very high'' or maximum details/resolution ?
For example, how many FPS can I reach playing with GTA V REDUX with high ''details'' ?
PS How much distant I have to stay from the monitor to watch it well?
Table depth? 80cm, it's enough? (considering its base obviously)
do u think i will be able to reach 100 FPS with nvidia GTX 1060 ti or 1070ti pls respond
@UFDisciple, do you mind telling what settings you were running those games? I also have a 980ti and looking to pick this monitor up over a holiday in the upcoming weeks. Did you have the graphics on it's highest with multisamping etc. I really would like to know.
+trickzzxD Everything was on maximum with maximum AA and whatnot in each game. If you drop some setting you'll be able to get above 60FPS, but not on the very highest settings.
cant wait, mine arrives on Tuesday
+Max Coomer Nice!!!! Enjoy dude.
Whats your in computer setting for the display as I am getting Out of Range errors and monitor not displaying windows on start up?
Apart from this I love the monitor
great review
Thanks!
Awesome review, I own the LG 34 ultrawide and thinking to upgrade to this one😃👍now!
+Dante Legacy Gaming Nice. Maybe you should keep the LG and super-wide setup.
Do it!!
Would this monitor be good for competitive gaming? Seeing that is only reaches 100hz.. would someone who has a 144hz monitor have an advantage?
100 hz is good. I'd take ultrawide 21 x 9 over 144 hz 16 x 9. Alienware AW3418DW does have 120 hz
Great video... subscribed ;)
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
Love my PG348Q
+SpeedySpyro It's a great monitor.
Same here!
editing the review of the monitor on the monitor.
Your mind has been blown.
+Bridge to the future The monitor was too good looking to not show it twice at the same time.
I have Gtx 980 msi would this be able to run this monitor ?
Very nice review and screen. On the 21:9 aspect ratio support issue, I run an Acer Z25 and have had nothing but an awesome experience thus far with 90% of games supporting this format natively. The only game I've had to tweak to support 21:9 properly is Dark Souls 3 and that was a 2 min fix, but yes it would be nice if devs support it out of the box. #earlyadoptionpains. As for video playback, MPC scales very well and I've had no issues. For editing, as you found, the Ultra Wide format makes even more sense. My only gripe with 21:9 is the price... I got mine on a sale with about 5k discount and it still hurts.
Thanks for the feedback!
Very professional review. Thank you. I would like to know some stuff before giving this much money.
1. If we play games that don't support 21:9 aspect ratio, what happens? I know we get black bars but how is the resolution, do we get 2560x1440 in that case (as if we were playing on 27” 2560x1440) because there is no mention in documentation of this monitor that it supports that resolution? That would mean that we get stretched 1920x1080, right?
2. If games don’t support 21:9 does Gsync still works?
Yes it will work and if game don't support 21:9 will work in 2560x1440 16:9
OK. So you commented that the over-all weight was was approx.. 25 pds. Was just wondering of the monitor weight alone with out stand?? And is it compatible to receive a desk top arm stand 100 x 100 VESA holes??
+FlippinFred That is the weight with the stand included. A 100x100 VESA mount is there, you have to remove the entire arm assembly that comes out of the back of the monitor.
+UFDisciple ; OK Thanks.. I have a swing mount stand with a 20 lb minimum. I currently have a ROG Swift PG 278Q Monitor attached to it with a 5 lb counter weight to make it work properly. I kinda had the intention to to upgrade it to this one.. which was my hind sight in purchasing it.. Awesome review by the way. And I just subscribed today because you were the only person with the review saying what the actual weight of the product was. Some really key notes in marketing these items. So we can all plan ahead accordingly when purchasing other accessories. Just remember everyone out there purchasing these after market swing arms you need to pay close attention to the minimum and max. weight of the product being viewed. It might say 10" to 34" monitor. But the weight factor needs to come first.
+FlippinFred I'll keep that in mind for future monitor reviews! Thanks for the feedback and for subbing!
Flawless widescreen is your friend bro.
Can I connect a PS4 through display port-hdmi cable to this monitor and get 100khz refresh rate?
+Mr Grimm I'm fairly certain that PS4 games don't support anything above 60Hz. But I'm not 100% on that since I've never owned one.
Nice review and keep up the good work 👍, I'm not trolling here but when you talked about content creators and how they should provide support for 21:9 aspect ratio, man your face expressions, I thought you are going to cry honestly as if it touched you deeply on a personal level 😂, again not trolling just saying, cheers 😊👍
Haha, no worries. I'll make sure not to wear my heart on my sleeve next time. :)
thanks for pointing out that most movies actually have black bars on the side, i was really close to picking this one over the pg279 and however silly it might be, this was enough to tip the scale the other way.
+Richard Csiznier To be fair, you can force applications like VLC to push the content at 21:9, but anything besides native is a critique from me. It's not that it can't be done, it's that it takes user intervention to make it happen in most instances.
Would two 1080s in sli be overkill for this? should I go with one 1080 for this monitor?
+Mac Reuben Overkill? Not likely. Just capable of modern titles. Falling behind in future ones. One 1080 will work, but not 100Hz in every AAA game.
I’m thinking of getting this monitor soon and the graphics card I’ll be using is the rtx 2080 ti... so should be good, hopefully haha
Every few years I like to upgrade my PC so I don't Have to mess with it for awhile. This week I ordered a EVGA Nvidia GTX1080w/ i76900k Intel Processor on a X99-A2 Asus motherboard with 16 GB of ram and I will be running it on this Asus ROG Swift PG348Q 34" Curved 100hz Gaming monitor with G-sync. Hopefully I have no issues running at 100hz regularly....
+Stannis Targaryen Looking into that now actually. Will have an update in a week or two.
Awesome! I look forward to the Update! Please keep me posted...Thanks!
HELP ME!
Which is better??
3840x2160- 60Hz
3440x1400 - 100Hz (ultrawide)
I'm so undecided between upgrade to ASUS pg348q or keep my SAMSUNG u28d590d!
I play games and edit videos ...
So I can truly feel the difference between 2.5K and 4K...
Onã Sousa don't waste your money, wait till better and more monitors come ... trust me
its finally on amazon
+philip mpa Cool. Thanks for the heads up!
I am opting to buy one since I am fed up with my 22 inch monitor 720p. I want to play far cry 4. but can it play on 21:9 otherwise I have to stick to 16:9. This is a dealbreaker for me. btw Asus looks amazing
Ive been rocking several ultrawides through the last 2 years time and the games i have encountered that just didnt want to work with 21:9 has been so limited. Movies is the same story and those who are 16:9 with black bars on top and bottom can be stretched to fit perfectly if you use VLC or similar. I agree that it would be nice if more developers would put more thought into support (im looking at you Overwatch) but i chose the pc because i didnt mind the tinkering from time to time, actually i want to be able to always tinker if something doesnt suit my taste. So if a game doesnt behave the way i want i can mod it and im happy that i have that oppertunity.
Thanks for the feedback.
and thank you for the video :)
Agreed flawless widescreen helps also. Resident Evil 4 was shit on ultrawide before it. I have had the x34, pg348q and alienware AW3418DW. I kept the Asus
I am seriously considering this monitor. Recently, I sold my PG278Q and got a fairly good price, so my question, what about the rumoured QC issues on this monitor? Is the backlight bleed that bad? Lastly, is it possible to OC the monitor to 100 Hz from the GPU driver instead of the display options, as I hear the latter is much more unreliable than the former? Cheers for feedback.
Yeah, it seems like buyers are reporting varied success with the quality of the monitor. But I've also heard that ASUS is being a good sport about replacements. The backlight bleed didn't exist on the review sample that I had, but some others are reporting it to be bad, but that's IPS for you, good on some, bad on others. I never attempted to OC the monitor from the GPU panel, so I can't state if it works better, but I've received personal reports that it's actually been more difficult to do than using the display options. Not sure if that's helpful.
***** thanks for the feedback
My pg348q manufactured march 2018 100 hz 100 percent and minimal blb
what is better Acer Predator z35 vs Asus Swift 34inch...?
Haha, I just released my video on the Z35 like an hour ago! They're different products. ASUS is higher detail and IPS, so better for content creation. Z35 is straight up gaming. They each have pros and cons and really are for two different markets.
For myself personally, I'd take the ASUS. I'm not an active gamer and can't really notice anything about 144+ Hz.
How do I make My screen max wide mode
I dont see any IPS GLOW, does that monitor have that effect?
yes and backlight bleed. He has set the brightness down and made sure to film from certain angles as many UA-cam reviewers are doing which is sad. I have gone through 3 of these monitors and I can tell you yes they have IPS glow and terrible in the dark and also the back light bleed is bad albeit not as bad on my 3rd display as it was on my 1st and 2nd bit still more than it should be. Also the "frameless design" is not frameless is has an inside from you only see when the monitor is on and it is quite thick. I am considering swapping it out for the Alienware 34in g sync model
Hey man - really good review - this is much appreciated . I just wanted to comment about the GPU. For this kind of Monitor you should get a 1070. Its the same price with a 980 but is able actually to properly power through .
I disagree. The 1070 isn't powerful enough. Will be fully evaluating this next week when the monitor comes back to me.
okay, I am looking forward to this review. Will you be doing it with a 1070 and 1080?
GTX 1080. Which I'm very much presuming will not be enough.
I agree 1080 minimum. I had 1070 on older pc and didnt quite cut the mustard.
would 2 asus 20th gold anniversary 980ti be sufficient to run most AAA titles on ultra?
+Gangreen167 As long as the games have decent SLI scaling support.
***** ok thanks
Is the front bezel actually metal? If so this is an instant buy
why would that be any other tan plastic? and i have it and it is brushed aluminium
Is this VESA mountable ? Can't find anything in specifications.
Yes. It can be mounted on a 100x100mm mount.
Thank you.
What are the dimensions of the screen, without the stand?
+GamerTech 829 x 323 x 109 mm (WXHXD)
cant wait i get mine tomorrow
+Swaggyjeff Nice! Enjoy it!
+Swaggyjeff you order from amazon?
+fatboycarp14 ! Yep order mine on February 27th
+Swaggyjeff i order one too on february 26 coming this wednesday i just hope i dont get one with blacklight
bleed
best of luck man the only thing is that people have been crying about the scan lines at 20fps on the pendulum but its dumb since no one is going to be playing at 20 fps on this monitor you need a beast of a pc to run this monitor anyways
thinking of buying this along with a GTX 1080 Graphics card, is it enough to hit 100 fps with the monitor?
Some games yes, most games no. I'm begging ASUS to send it back for me to test with a 1080, but using a 1080 on a 4K screen shows that 60FPS is likely in AAA titles. You should be able to get close to 100 in less demanding titles like Overwatch, but still not average 100. SLI'd 1080's would do the trick in games that support SLI.
i have both this monitor and a 1080, (just got it yesterday) as far as i can tell i am running 60FPS on everything and +100 on most high end games.
i got my monitor for 1445 with tax from newegg.com. and i feel it was a good deal.
it was either this monitor or a tripple monitor set up. glad i went this route for gaming.
Don't compare this with 4k benchmarks since this is not a 4k monitor but more like 3k. Yes most of the games should easily go beyond 60fps on a GTX1080. Maybe not with everything on ultra but with a bit lower AA and Shadows... Saving money myself for this baby and going for the MSI 1070 Seahawk. Even that should keep it above 60fps. Probably gonna get a second 1070 later on for that steady 100fps :p
South Africa represent, just made my purchase of the PG348Q, not from Wootware though unfortunately
Where'd you get it from? Interested in buying one of these now.
Great fair review. 21/9 may become usable in a few years, but I pass for now.
its great now aswell... supports 16:9 perfetly on this monitor aswell as 21:9...
Flawless widescreen
I really would like to get this monitor but I keep hearing about a problem the monitor has that fails to get to 100hz and goes only up to 96hz can anyone confirm this to be an ongoing issue?
In my use, and from keeping up with a few forums, I haven't seen any reports of this. I've seen rumors of reports of this. There's been some mention that it has to do with the quality of the DisplayPort cable above anything else. Not sure if that's helpful.
+UFDisciple thanks for your reply, I was reading this on the Amazon and newegg reviews by verified owners. The reviews I read also made it seem like you have to manually over clock it to 100hz and it may or may not work.
+bebeoploki The "manual" overclock is a single dedicated button on the monitor. It's not guaranteed, but I also haven't read of many users who can't hit that.
got this , got 100+fps on bf1 on ultra with sli 1080 . but . . . . why wasnt this vid in 21:9 ??
Subbed :)
i subbed bro
I don't know what you use to play Video-content, but I never have black bars. Make sure to set the aspect-ratio to 239:100 in VLC-mediaplayer. For UA-cam you could download a plugin to make it Wide-Screen, same with Netflix.
+Jurgen Timmerman That's my point. It's not natively supported without modification on the part of the user. I'm willing to do all of that work, but I shouldn't have to.
+Jurgen Timmerman thanks for the tip :)
That UA-cam and Netflix didn't create a widescreen button yet it absolutely ridiclious. Their development=department is just horrendous. Wide-Screen monitors are already on the market for +5 years.
does gsync still kick in if my fps goes beyond 100 on 100hz refresh or will it tear?
G-Sync will limit your FPS to 100, so it won't tear.
+UFDisciple as in automatically or as in I need to set the limit within game menu itself?
+UFDisciple BTW your particular review on this monitor is by far the best on the entire interwebs
As long as G-Sync is enabled, it will be automatically.
Thanks. Not much competition out there though.
Use a video player like VLC or MPHC and you can make the video whatever size you want, and they are free.
I understand it can be done. I say that in the video. The issue is that it should be universal.
I'm torn between of getting this or Acers X34A
Definitely pg348q. I've had both
There are chrome extensions for netflix and youtube to support 21:9 when it isn't uploaded in that format.
And also if you're paying this much to be on the cutting edge of technology, it's probably worth taking the extra effort to get your games working with it properly. Widescreen gaming forums is a great resource, as well as the Wideasfcuk youtube channel and r/ultrawidemasterrace. I was able to get fallout 4 working fantastically and I've heard the same about metal gear solid.
Gotta love 21:9 though. I'm so glad that it's catching on.
+Brian Chapman I address this stuff in the video. Yes, I can this stuff to work, but that's not the point. I shouldn't have to worry about it.
The high cost of the monitor isn't sufficient enough of an argument to say I must alter my own content. People don't buy high cost items like cars, watches, or even pre-built computers and expect to have to alter it to get it to work properly. They expect because of the high price that it should work flawlessly. The analogies in either of out arguments don't fully correspond 1:1, but there's enough justification on either said to not dismiss the other.
With that said, I'm also excited about the uptake of 21:9.
Flawless widescreen also. Love 21 x 9 gaming cant go back
Would you still recoomend it now that it's 2020?
Venality I would, it’s still absolutely amazing.
@@cheddalan2475 i've decided to go with a cheaper moniter because 1000 dollers is a bit too much for me. i've decided to go with the aoc 34" cu34g2x that costs about 650 dollers.
but thanks for responding though.
if you can find it second hand def get it, i got mine for less than 150 USD and it was a STEAL
Can I use ps4 on this
So what's the most suitable GPU to run this monitor?
For new games? 1 or 2 1080's.
thanks!
Hi there UFDisciple hope you can help me i buyed that monitor but i cant put the 100 Hz in the pc. Just have the opcion to 50 hz and 60 hz. How can i put the 100hz ?
You have to enable the overclock on the monitor. Have you pressed the turbo boost button on the monitor and then checked the options on the PC?
+UFDisciple yes but it doesnt show
Ok. 2 things: 1) are you using a Displayport 1.2 cable? and 2) are you in game when you check this? I had issues with the monitor only switching to 100Hz when it was in game, but not just on my desktop or otherwise.
+UFDisciple yes i have the displayport that comes with him.
and no when i try to config im not playing
Try to be in game and then switch to the desktop to see what happens.
Isn’t most movie 21:9?
aaaand I bought one.... rip my 760.
I hope my 1080 will arrive soon
Very cool! Which 1080 did you buy?
+UFDisciple The ASUS GTX 1080 STRIX O8G-GAMEING for 800 CHF. and the monitor for 1350 CHF.
Awesome! Enjoy them!
@@123fizzers yeah I have gtx 1080 and i78700 with this monitor pg348q and pretty good Match. Only game I have to really turn down settings is Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Does anyone know when it releases?
+AlcoholismIsForKids For which region? There's been a few reports of people getting them from Amazon. Here in South Africa, it's released, but out of stock.
Can you use this with a standard vesa arm?
+Dragonbait Didn't have a VESA mount to verify with myself, but ASUS states support for 100mm x 100mm VESA mount compatibility.
+UFDisciple cool thanks, definitely top of my monitor wish list :)
+Dragonbait No problem. Hopefully you'll be able to get yours soon!
Is this better than the Acer predator x34?
I don't have personal experience with the X34, but from what I've gathered from others, people are preferring the ASUS monitor. Although, this may chance with the update coming to the X34.
I like the asus better I've has both
How long before the price drop?
+thehotsung8701A No clue. Probably at least 3 months, but it's possible that the price could go up due to production issues or geological disturbances. Impossible to guess really. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful.
can you benchmark some games with the 980ti
+AlcoholismIsForKids That video is coming out on Thursday. Have a few other 980Ti's that I've reviewed in previous videos if you're interested in checking those out.
Do you notice going from the 165hz to 100hz? That is the only thing holding me up on the purchase right now
thanks
+APF1201 It's not really a huge deal for me. Anything over 100-120Hz is a waste on me personally. You might have a harder time though.
Ok thanks for the input. Great review!
100 hz is fine. Ultrawide worth it. If you just must have 120 hz minimum you can get x34p or AW3418DW
can someone explain me why would someone use 60 hz when the monitor can use 100hz ?
Because the 100Hz is an overclock on the panel, and while it may support 100Hz, running it at that resolution for the entire duration would likely cause extra strain on the display over the long term. There's also the fact that running certain things at 100Hz such as your Windows desktop or Microsoft Office will see no advantage from that higher refresh rate and you would be consuming the extra power for no reason.
I suspected from that... We should reintroduce the "80s/90s computer case Turbo button" then...
Why isn't this automatic yet :|?
is the strain that much of a big deal? in the acer predator they changed it to bring 100hz overclocking from the start (excuse my english)
Constructive criticism.. please zoom out just a tad or back up.. drives me crazy people cutting off the top of their heads.. it looks weird and is "improper" placement. And the weird look force smile at the end was kinda creepy.. well that is the way I perceived it. Besides those two things thanks for the review.. I am thinking about getting this monitor but there does not seem to be to many reviews out there.. not even the big tech channels on youtube have reviewed it yet. It seems like a lot of the small channels are though. My only concern is the 980ti I am going to get won't be powerful enough to power this monitor to my satisfaction as I am sensitive to low frame rates while gaming.
+GaMeOvErRules I'm aware of the issues with the cropped head. Some technical issues on my side that caused this. Will fix it going forward. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm not sure if you paid attention to the Nvidia launch last night but the 1080 will cost $599 and runs better than the 980 To and launches May 27th. I'd definitely recommend waiting on getting the Ti and picking up the 1080 instead. Your experience will be much better.
+UFDisciple oh sweet! I actually want to build a new computer and was going to order all the parts tonight. But I guess everything happens for a reason and hopefully I can get my hands on a 1080 at release. I did not know it was announced as I don't keep up with he latest news. I normally am the last person to hear it lol. But I am definitely going to wait. Thank you for the help!
+GaMeOvErRules Yeah man, wait three weeks and you'll double your performance for less money. Definitely worth it if you're getting this monitor as well.
Just grabbed that monitor Dec 2017 to fully appreciate with oc'ed GTX 1080 Ti, while the panel still being future proof even today. waiting for shipment.
Gtx 1080 is good with it
What is the mecha(s) on the desk?
Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro S.
Thanks for the reply, but I was actually referring to the robot looking statues/action figures on the desk. Sorry for the confusion.
Oh, haha, my bad. It's an ASUS robot figurine. They give them out as promotional material. Not sure if they're available anywhere.
Thanks for the info. Shame, they look really cool and I'm a huge Asus supporter, maybe I'll get one one day.
I've been wondering if the GTX1080 can handle this monitor?
+faris Y In some games, most it will still be too much at max details.
UFDisciple so does that mean I should consider the titan x pascal or a 2 way sli instead ?
1080 Is decent. Can always put games on high instead of ultra
I would get so sad after reviewing a monitor like this then know I have to go back to my old monitor, I would miss the taste of the good life
+Calie Burger Haha. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Still did most of my work on my 17" laptop screen so I wouldn't get too used to a good thing.
Hahahaha the hard life we live ;)
Still using in 2024
Can def do better. Need at least 120hz for a smooth experience. Also the curve should have been at LEAST 1800R/1900R like Acers. Acers new one is 1800R and Samsung is 1500R. Much much better for immersion and such a big screen for gaming.
I cant count how many times I've heard South Africa in this one.
+PTE Games 7. I said "South Africa" seven times.
I got one myself UK! :)
+Noble3781 Awesome! Enjoy it! Any issues thus far?
No none at all. Asus must have amazing QR control unlike acer...
+Noble3781 Haha, fair enough. I've been hearing issues with both pretty evenly. Enjoy the awesome display!
+UFDisciple will do and no according to reviews and in general asus are better at qr. Good luck man
I have a Asus PB248Q and i have been thinking of buying this Asus PG348Q instead of the Dell UltraSharp U3415W. No backlight bleed on my current 1200p asus montitor so i am very happy with Asus quality control on my sample. I work with digital art and i got to have minimal backlight bleed and 98-100% srgb.
It might be a lottery with backlight bleeding on the ultrawide monitors.
So there are not any visible backlight bleed on your panel?
VESA mountable? I want to mount this to a wall.
+Roswell Crash Has support for 100x100 mount.
+UFDisciple thanks very much for the reply.
Very excited for this monitor.
+Roswell Crash You should be. I'm sad now that's it's no longer on my desk.
+UFDisciple pre-ordered it today, girlfriends not gonna be happy 😂
+Roswell Crash Bummer on the gf, but your eyeballs will be delighted. Enjoy the monitor!
When will it be released in the US?
+Ashwin Thiagarajan There's been quite a few reports of people receiving their as long as they pre-ordered. I think it is officially released, just very limited stock initially.
***** but where do i get it from, it's not on amazon
+Ashwin Thiagarajan I'm not sure. I'm not in the US, so I haven't looked into it. The people who pre-ordered did so on Amazon. I would assume it will be up on Newegg and Amazon when stock comes in.
***** Aight thx
Asus needs to do 1080p 21:9 with higher refresh and Ill buy it
they do its the freesync versions
For all the reviews talking about backlight bleed on a 1000$+ monitor, asus really needs to address that. Main reason why I won't risk the investment.
Unfortunately, ASUS doesn't manufacturer the actual panels, and since this is such a high price, low volume product, they're really at the mercy of the panel manufacturer. QC must be difficult on a product like this.
That G Sync premium though.
+ShallowDepression Can it really be considered a premium when there's no non-Gsync alternative?
***** Freesync, and it's $200 less.
I'm not sure what monitor you're referring to. I did a quick search and can't find any ultrawides for sale right now that are 3440x1440 @ 100Hz and Freesync. Was it announced, but not for sale yet?
***** It's on its way, I'm holding out for it.
Nice. I haven't heard of it. I still wouldn't call it G-Sync premium when, in fact, there was nothing else like it on the market.
But who has the dosh for thing like this? £1,088.98 on amazon!
you can pay break it up by paying in 12 month instalments . I bought a new skylake build a few montsh ago , but my monitor is from 2009 ( 24 inch LG TV ) :))))) i cant do this to myself anymore
I never buy anything in instalments. I save up money.
+ i bought the LG 34UM95 so can't justify the cost.
But thanks for the advice.
I just wish i had waited for the ultrawides to evolve to this lvl before splurging on a 60hz. :D
I have one but it only works in 60h and ever 30-40 min keep blanks
+Mahdi Alherbawi Strange. What have you done so far to fix it?
+UFDisciple I have changed the DP cable but still the same do you have Idea ?
+UFDisciple the first 2 weeks of use was fine
+Mahdi Alherbawi The first thing that I can think of, but you likely have thought of already, is to make sure that the overclocking is enabled on the panel still. Maybe it did a hard reset or something of the sort and turned off the OC capabilities.
I will try it and I hope it will work and I will send you the feedback
interstellar must be amazing on this monitor
+Paul Martin (PaulSkate44) Twas indeed fantastic.
Yes I must check out interstellar on mine
I'd get this. If I had R29,000 to spare, which I don't, and somehow and don't think I'll ever will for a monitor. But someday, maybe someday...
+Matthew Derman Right? I'm in the same boat. Hopefully the pricing will come down as the tech matures a bit.

Yip, sure hope that happens. Should also be easier and cheaper to power as we head into the future.
You clearly dont know that there is app to turn a game to 21:9....you dont need to complain about this on the asus review vídeo...they have nothing to do lol.
Boom that's what I said lol. Flawless widescreen!
You should activate Windows.
+Truth Motovlog You mean Windows shouldn't de-activate when I change motherboards
UFDisciple Hah, Touche!
I bought it. Extreme color grading and 1 dead pixel. Would you kindly kill me, please?
Wow, that's a bummer. Any chance you can RMA?
i've asked asus for rma, crossed fingers
Actually, i've been searching for this color problem for 2 weeks, and I didn't find anything. I thought it wasn't an "issue" but just how this panel was built. I've noticed in Witcher 3 loadings, in pre-rendered videos, in dark situation like Outlast 2 demo, i have those annoying red, green and blue shaded rings. It gets worse with scenery and cinema mode, a little bit better with sRGB mode. Have you noticed something like that in this monitor? Any help would be appreciated :)
the same like the acer predator x34
+Mohammed A Yep, definitely direct competitors. Unfortunately, the X34 isn't available here in South Africa.
Looks like I'm buying another titan x.
+Bridge to the future Might as well spring for a Titan Z while you're at it.
It's pretty clear that Asus and Acer are pretty Ngreedia biased...
+Nick Rodrigez Asus and Acer both have plenty of Freesync models though...
Don't know Acer, but Asus has only 2 FS monitor, the best of them is an IPS 2560x1440p 8-bit panel. G-shit has this one that is insane (without G-shit it'll be much better, and cheaper), and also a high refresh rate IPS 4k...
If only LG would launch a 10-bit 1440p ultrawide with FS...
+Nick Rodrigez You mean the LG 34UC98?
LG's site:
Color Depth (Number of Colors) 10bit (8bit + A-FRC)
Not really native 10-bit. Not even their fancy 38" ultrawide in native 10-bit..
dude its aye-suhs lol. a seuse? its like i get a free masseuse with my monitor
Tomato tomato.
@@UFDTech Potato potato
who watch this with rtx 3080
i thought it would cost about 400 dollars but..... xD
+Gasoline Stoner If only....
The fair price would be around 800... Too bad it's so expensive...
No mention of back light bleed, stand too big. nothing negative. what a surprise
why all the gamers look so weird ?
+doffe halls Because we don't go outside.
lol
