    Your narration reminds me of The Red Green Show, and that is a good thing! Thanks for the videos!

    What a flipped leaf spring kit will it work together

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  9 місяців тому

      I don't think it should be a problem as long as the leaf spring is still under the frame rail. The sway bar is about 2" away from the OEM spring's droop travel on the above the axle design in the video (OEM.)

    I just wanted to reach out and say Thank You! I am a disabled veteran and trying to tackle big projects is hard for me and because of your videos I was able to gain the confidence to tackle the AEV fender flares. I can't thank you enough.

      I am glad that I could help and thank you for your service. Detailed videos with all the steps shown are hard to find so I have made a point to film as much as I can in my build.

    Hey man love all the new mods and upgrades your doing. You really do a great job with how your videos are put together and explained. Being a 2018 ZR2 owner myself I love all the ZR2 content. Keep it going

      Thanks! I enjoy sharing the experience of the build but the focus has been on getting it all together and documenting the parts and processes from the technical side. As I wrap up the first year and most of the modifications I will be focusing on the impressions and utility of the mods throughout the rest of my ownership.
      I am planning some other platform content to keep the "How To" content coming but it has be a busy first year building out the channel.

    How was the ride after the install of the sway bars? I was thinking about getting it for my 17 Colorado ZR2 V6. Any thoughts??

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  2 роки тому +1

      I felt the rear of the truck definitely needed some balance as soon as I started adding substantial weight, especially on top of the shell/topper. While the truck stayed more planted I did not feel that there were any ride quality issues introduced.
      ON-ROAD - The stability on the street with high traction was very welcome for cornering and emergency driving maneuvers.
      OFF-ROAD - The stability on obstacles was good and only effected max articulation slightly, however not impeding low speed cycling through the entire range.
      I felt the truck was definitely better overall with the addition of the sway bar.

    What’s the real world experience on the trails or speed runs ?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  2 роки тому

      Works as advertised. I am hoping to get some video of my last trip to Anza Boreego at Devils drop where you can see slow speed articulation is much more balanced up and Devil's Drop. While you trade a little tire contact for load balancing at full compression and extension, the lockers do what they have to to ensure continued forward movement. At high speed i noticed less roll over at or near the limit of traction while turning. Combine that with the added power of the super charger, I can steer with the throttle with more confidence and feel less like i want to traction roll.

    Hi
    Do these help as a type of overload for heavy loads and or towing?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 роки тому

      The sway bar is designed to help balance / stabilize the load from side to side but not for additional spring rate. For that you will need to look at higher rate springs, add-a-leafs or other overload spring options.
      Hellwig who makes this swaybar also makes bolt on adjustable and removable helper springs for that purpose on the Colorado and Canyon platform. These fit all variations except a ZR2 Bison with AEV gas tank skid which interferes with the mounting u-bolts.

    • @ryanlogan2911
      @ryanlogan2911 3 роки тому

      @@exhaustinglife you may research roadmaster active suspension.
      I have them on my ZR2 and they work great for heavy loads and towing.

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 роки тому

      @@ryanlogan2911 I have had other helper springs and even some adjustable ones but prefer to just get the right spring rate for the leaf pack. They work but its a lot of moving parts and adjusting that will effectively also impact your alignment.
      I have heard of them and some of the claims Roadmaster used to make about being an anti sway devise or enhancing side to side stability are just not accurate for a device that doesn't mechanically connect both sides.

      7745 and ask them for an additional set of spacers for the axle tube mount if you have a Bison diff skid or shock skids. You can refer to my truck and they should know about the issue.

    How much did the sway bar affect your rear suspension travel?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 роки тому +2

      So far nothing negative with fire roads and easy trails. I will be hitting some of the rocky paths as soon as I can and let you know. Articulation will be traded for stability but I am not sure exactly how much. the bar is adjustable so I will see what works.

    How does your truck ride with the 35's, I just did the same setup as yours and now mine rides horrible over rough roads but is great on large bump, potholes and boulders etc. I am trying to figure out what to do to fix the street ride quality now.

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 роки тому

      Have to watch your pressures. every 35 based on brand, compound and weight of the vehicle will require different pressures. Remember that these are load range D and E which are made for very heavy loads at the recommended pressures. On these mid-size truck with no trailer they don't need full pressure
