Alcohol leads to feelings of shame and inadequacy, which leads to people-pleasing/co-dependent behavior…. Feeling like I have to be more and do more to “earn” respect, admiration, love… which leads to bitterness and resentment when I don’t get what I think I should get for lighting myself on fire in service of other people’s needs, which leads to more alcohol abuse…. I quit on New Year's Eve 2022. I got really sick and said that's it. I am thankful for what I accomplished. I thought that alcohol was necessary to have a good time. Wrong! Drinking alcohol leads to being stupid, old, sick, and regret your embarrassing comments & actions. Which I didn’t remember half the time. I am in control now by the grace of God. Amen! I am at the stage where I have a little voice in my head saying I should just quit when things are less stressful and that I need it to deal with my stress and my constant sober thoughts. I loved alcohol for its ability to turn my brain off and I was no longer thinking myself into a spiral.
Alcohol is silent mode for the brain. How many times has the universe been trying to reach you to guide you to your next blessing, but you never picked up?
I've listened to like 9 hours of alcohol recovery videos today (including a lot of your videos) and you're the first person to bring this up @9:05 - all the ADDITIONAL money that gets spend on a night out of drinking. This is ultimately why my ex and I broke up, I loved her very much and I still do, but we were at two different points in life, I was ready to quit drinking, and she was ready to keep going along with bar-hopping 5 days a week, and she would complain that she was broke all the time and I would tell her to stop going out 5 times a week then! She would say things like "oh come on lets just go for two drinks and then we'll leave, it'll only be like 30 bucks between the two of us"... but of course thats never the case, next thing you know its 2am and the bartender turns the lights on, we've now had 5 drinks each, chicken wings, french fries, drunkenly tipping the bartender 35%, then a $20 uber ride home, and boom $125 gone just like that. Eventually I had enough and broke it off, that was 4 months ago and as of a week ago, her best friend told me that she's really not doing well at all and just comes home from work and drinks in her room all night. I've reached out several times to her but she won't respond, I hope she can help herself very soon like I am doing with myself. Sorry for the rambling, I just felt like sharing that because I found it relevant. TL;DR going out for a few drinks is almost never just a few drinks, you're gonna get food too, maybe some weed, an Uber home if you're being responsible, etc etc
Thanks, Jae, for another enjoyable video! I don't miss the verbal abuse. My husband and I would say the most hurtful things to each other. I've been sober since Dec. 26 and today is 28 days for hubby!! Keep up the great channel, Jae!!
Have been sober since november 2021. Best thing i have ever done to myself. I still go to parties, and i have more fun being sober than being intoxicated. Also i got my ace being sober. I can get in my car and drive into the night whenever i like, when everyone else gotta take the bus/ train or a taxi to get home. And that shit is fucking awful. I find that being sober, driving in the night gives me the buzz i actually need. Solitude in it's finest form. Just me, the car and the road. You really don't know how much power you actually get when you're sober before you try it.
Your most powerful ideas come to you in complete silence! when we shut out all of the distractions of the world that are competing for our attention, we open ourselves to the whispering of the universe. I get a lot of ideas for content for this channel while I'm driving!
What happens if you don't get a good night's rest sober? I ask only because I feel like people put too much pressure on sobriety to be everything they want it to be and lose focus on the vast improvements they will get across the board. keep it up. remember: you are practicing, and practice makes progrss
Great video. You have been inspirational for me in my journey. I have been AF for over 7 months now. Your lists are spot on. I appreciate your service to us all.

@@serenityanonisis5125 The greatest achievement of alcohol advertising is convincing people that alcohol is a harmless bit of fun instead of a creepy thing you buy in a dark alley at night. Even though I agree that alcohol is a harmful drug, it is sold in clean, beautiful, well lit stores that are easy to find instead of on a street corner by a questionable person.

I loved the video Jae, to answer your question what I like best about sobriety is that I’m no longer in a brain fog. I can follow complicated conversations and read difficult and complex texts, oh and remember them. Though I look like an old fool, I’m actually smarter than I look. Thanks for all the encouragement my friend. ❤❤❤
I'm just over 3 weeks of sobriety now! It's been really good, I'm already relating a lot of this video and surprised that I don't really want to drink very much at this point. I'm definitely not out of the woods though, and I wish my skin would start clearing up already. But for now, I'm thankful that I have more energy and I'm able to put more time into the things I love. I started skateboarding again, and that's been huge for me. I've never been any good at it but I enjoy it a lot. Thank you for your offer to allow me to check in every week or so! I will definitely be checking in from time to time. I watch your videos pretty regularly these days and they're keeping me on track. Thanks again! I appreciate you
We can do this... for me also going really hard, cannot make long. I promise make january without % and i manage make juat 26 days, saying yeah its be almost month its good, but i dont wanna drink. We can do this. !
Excellent video. During my hopefully last weeks long binge of my life, I was so very dehydrated. I would drink several bottled waters, but they didn’t make a dent in my dehydration. I still had major dry mouth. It was terrible. So many of the things on your list rang so true. Especially the regretted texts. DON’T miss those.
Get yourself checked for diabetes my friend, I hope you haven’t got it, if you have you are doing the right thing the weight loss from not drinking will help. Good luck. 🤞🤞🤞

Hey hey, getting sober over here… again. Today is day 3 (for the 109th time), and this video plus some much needed snacks is what I needed to make it out or a gnarly craving. For me, that growing disappointment and lack of self-respect is what got me on the path to finally TRYING to stop this nonsense. Sure; the physical pain is shit, but to not like that person in the mirror while knowing you could be something truly great in this world … that’s a whole lot worse. Tired of being disappointed. Day 10 today and today is first day I feel great and energetic again! I slept whole night through, after it took a little while to fall asleep, but thats ok. And that came just right in time! As today I have an for me important language test. I moved to a country I dont speak the language, after my last toxic relationship. Jay - Going over the cancer and health effects that drinking does to your body. Me - The hypochondriac. Oh no. I probably have one of those diseases. I felt a weird pain last night. Oh no. There’s no hope for me.
For me at least when I was in a drinking "rut" even as little as 1 week you'll notice positive benefits and it only gets better and easier to stay sober because you feel the positive benefits.
I always drink at home. My wife and I drink every other day. Wine, rum and cokes. We also both smoke cigarettes and she vapes weed. If you add it all up, it's around $1000 a month. Now ad in the Uber eats bill from being lazy and either drunk or hungover and not wanting to cook and there's another at least $2000 a month since we also have 3 kids. Yeah. I don't miss that at all. Let's not forget the drunk Amazon purchases!
YAAAAAAAAAAS 👏👏👏👏👏 What's tomorrow's to-do list looking like? what healthy activities are you planning over the next 3 days? I highly suggest to spend as little time as possible watching TV. focus on activities that use your whole body! work up a sweat! take naps, meal prep, clean, organize, take more naps, break more sweats. watch the episode "what does your sobriety montage look like?" this IS YOUR ROCKY MOMENT. This is the montage movie moment of your life when you look back and watch the tape and say to yourself "hell yeah! he's REALLY DOING IT!!!" LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

A simple one for me: I don't miss the very intense pressure to urinate as I drive to work. Now my commutes are way more peaceful. I thought I had some bladder problem.
I don't miss waking up and discovering that I broke my hand or a tooth while being drunk. This happened many times to me. I have burns, scars and all of them, with no exception, are due to alcohol.
Im at the point now at 40 where I can have 3 or 4 beers the night before and still go for a 3 or 4 mile run in the morning. I know I'll eventually have to quit completely if I still wish to do that.

I read all the comments big bro! no worries! Keep your head on your shoulders and your focus forward. We will be here when you need us! 💜💛🧡
Thanks, Jae, for another enjoyable video! I don't miss the verbal abuse. My husband and I would say the most hurtful things to each other. I've been sober since Dec. 26 and today is 28 days for hubby!! Keep up the great channel, Jae!!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwesome!!!! Congrats to your renewal ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Jae! You named really good points that I’m all too familiar with. I’m saving this to my “heal up” playlist for repeat future listening
YESSSSSS!!! The more playlists we can make it to, the more chance for discovery those in need will have! Thank you
Have been sober since november 2021.
All 20: True to the "T"! 565 days sober as of right now.
ALRIGHT!!! 565 WOO!!! What's going on this weekend??
I love being sober because my sleep has improved a lot!

I just discovered your channel. I'm at Day 6. This is my nth time trying to quit but this time is different. This time i really really want to quit. Your experience is like im hearing myself narrate my awful self when I was drinking 😅
Lol I'm glad you got the point. The universal voice speaks through all of us. call it God, the universe, your inner voice, whatever you want...it's guiding us all in the right direction 🗣️ IF WE LISTEN
Thanks is not enough!Your videos have been a BIG part in helping me stay focused and sober. Thank you so much🫶🏼✌🏻
Currently 56 days sober and feel so amazing physically and emotionally. I never want to go back to how I felt while alcohol was in the driver seat. My husband decided to take a break from drinking as well. I feel like he saw the big changes in me and wanted that for himself. I know our kids appreciate the new us.
more time to BE PRESENT is a present. kids getting their parents back are one of the best gifts EVER!!! Proud of you both :):):):)
You guys make it look easy but I know it's a LOT of work putting these videos together. You rock GS...A !!!
This one certainly took a LOT of effort, and I'm happy you're still enjoying the content after all this time! I recently reached out to a video editor to find out how much it would cost to produce these videos this way, and let's just say...I'll be doing it myself for the foreseeable future lol

Mmmmm starbunks
I appreciate you
The skin on your face?
@@GettingSoberAgain Yes I've got bags under my eyes, some redness and puffiness. It's better than it was day 1 but it seems to be a very slow process.
So long past mistakes!

Get yourself checked for diabetes my friend, I hope you haven’t got it, if you have you are doing the right thing the weight loss from not drinking will help. Good luck. 🤞🤞🤞

Thank's Paige. Your comment is the wing beneath my wings =)
I work very hard to make our content the BEST on youtube for ALL of sobriety. It's a honor to receive such a compliment !!!
My problem is that I rarely have to use my money to pay for alcohol. But I realize that I’m paying with my life and that’s honestly worth way more ! ❤ day 2. Let’s go.
I remember when my dad was dying. I was the only one with him in the hospital when he passed away, and I remember thinking to myself "where are all those drinking buddies now?".

Great video, Jae. Keep up the great work.
Hey Shawn, great to hear from you again! Thank you for the encouragement, it helps more than you may know!
I dont miss being in drama when I’m around heavy drinkers. I gave up drinking fir my health and so o can change who I socialize with and I do t want to be around drinkers
Good thinking! Decrease the stress and decrease the drama is always a recipe for SUCCESS!
Day 10 today and today is first day I feel great and energetic again! I slept whole night through, after it took a little while to fall asleep, but thats ok. And that came just right in time! As today I have an for me important language test. I moved to a country I dont speak the language, after my last toxic relationship. And learning the countries language is a very important step for my future, as I want to study for my dreamjob as soon my language got good enough. Both things I now will be able to reach💪!
