Day 1: crippling anxiety, heart rate out of control and depersonalization and derealization. Day 2: getting those sweaty palms to get a drink again to take the edge off. Day 3: I feel much more relaxed and confident to get back to my education. I do get a small itch to drink but for the most part I feel happy I don’t feel the anxiety anymore so I keep going with my sobriety. Baby steps..
One time at work I said something that I quickly regretted badly. I obsessed over it for months. I confided with a new co-worker friend and expressed my regrets. She said, "Nick! No one is thinking about you!" It was such a wise thing for her to say. Kind of blew my mind actually. Simple but profound. Really lifted a weight. I enjoyed hearing you say the same.
My journey to sobriety began with a "dry January" 2023. That lasted until April, when I went back to drinking. Since then I've restarted and failed 3 or 4 times. Its very frustrating, particularly after a few months being sober, feeling great, looking better, and still faultering. I recently came across your videos. Hoping your advice helps me stay on the wagon this time. Thanks.
When I stopped drinking, some 20 years ago, I started buy DVD:s of my favourite movies and have some ice cream in the fridge. So that anytime I passed an inviting looking bar, instead of going to have ’one’ beer (usually meant 5-10 plus pizza or burger) I could remind myself: ”There is a movie and ice cream at home, just keep on going..” For me reason was that after divorce I hated to go to empty home. So I sat in the bar until sleeping time. Then later I learned away from sugar habits.
Hey man! I can't tell you how helpful these videos are to me. I was a hard-core binge drinker for 23 years of my life and fast food junkie. Never had any problems with drama, DUI's or getting into trouble but all that drinking caught up to me in health problems. Having tingly feet, almost 300lbs, brain fog, tired all the time, in a bad mood, depression if I wasn't drunk was a wake up call for me. I manned up, went to the doctor, got some blood work done. Come to find out I have Type 2 Diabetes and fatty liver. Which I could figure out on my own. My A1C was an alarming 2.60. I've now been sober almost a month in a half now. Which hasn't been easy but I'm pushing through. I eat well, walk about 2 hours a day, and im on Metformin. I now weigh 270 lbs and my Blood Glucose is down to 180.00 average and dropping. My drinking was in the legendary status. Pounding 12-30 beers a night was the norm. I'm talking stuff into the 8%-10% range drinking 16 oz in a 6 second time span, one after another until I went from 100% sober to 100% wasted. Sadly I took pride in this and created a huge following on Tik-Tok for beer chugging challenges. Horrible. Just wanted to share my story. Anyone out there who's reading this, no matter how bad off you are or trapped in the alcohol web, if a total wasted rager like me can do it, so can you!
You are making a HUGE change and taking control over your life! People in this community have also reported having their numbers return to normal after about a year of sobriety AND have been able to eventually come off Metformin and other meds all together! (but of course talk to your doctor and all that) LET HEALTHY FOOD BE THY MEDICINE!
I roughly remember a saying that went “if you keep track of how long youve been sober for your not sober yet” don’t let the mind set of being sober take control of your days bury it in the back of your head and continue with your life
144 days sober. Training for competitive dancing again, running, working out, teaching ESL, running my home business, about to study real estate for a license next week. Relationships with my adult kids, everyone else are better. I still make mistakes, but this is the most fearless I have been in 30 years, thanks to sobriety. Your videos are so helpful, Jae!
I quit Jan 2023. DR order "quit or die". I found that statement very motivating. About to start month 11 and zero desire (maybe little bit)... LOL Walk 1/2 hr to hour day, easy pace, nothing crazy. Zero fast food too. Lost 20+ lbs. Not that hard, just got get reality, get at it.
A month sober now. Thanks for your support and motivation. I found yoga helps with anxious times and tends to reset the mind. I've been doing it daily and lost 11 pounds in one month. Alcohol was really holding me back.
Crazy one of your videos 3 months ago solidified it for me. Been sober since watching it. The hangovers, the poor sleep, the crappy foods after getting drunk, the low energy all gone, keep up the great work. I’m getting in shape, I don’t eat crap anymore, and after years of working out and getting zero results my body is changing back to what it used to be before I started drinking so much.

Breaking the chain is the hardest part. But I got so SICK of the alcohol induced anxiety I’d get every day, all day. Then I drank right after work to get over my anxiety. Wash , rinse and repeat. Good morning anxiety. I stopped drinking and said goodbye to anxiety! It feels so good to rid myself from alcohol.
Love it, man! I appreciate the work you put into these. Physical, emotional, and spiritual sobriety are the keys to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. What doesn't bring me closer to is taking me away from my relationship with God. Glad you put that into neutral terms so everyone can relate. Thank you and hope you keep making these.
Day 1... again. I'm at the point where I'm just tired of feeling sad and anxious all the time. Something HAS to change. I'll definitely be implementing some if not all these suggestions. Thank you!
I was feeling sad and anxious all the time too. I went to therapy for 4 years. I did everything to quit drinking except quit drinking. Now I'm off meds. never feel anxious. rarely ever sad. It's like who knew right? All these doors unlocked and it happened to be sobriety that allowed me to do the work to unlock those doors. One of my favorite quotes is: The magic you're looking for is in the work you're avoiding. Let that resonate. write it down. think about it. figure out what you can cut from your life. do what you NEED to do, not just what you're WILLING to do. 💜💜💜
I became a vegan about 3 years ago. This was the next natural step. Decades of "social " drinking were just getting in the way of realizing my health journey. Jai is onto something here!
You're ruining your health if you're plant based in fact your officially in the danger zone of 3-7 years which is when health declines in 53% of the population, symptoms by 10-15 years and inability to absorb nutrients by 20+ years I'm trying to tell you most nutrition hypothesis are wrong and Veganism/Plant based is the worst. It's the only diet which requires supplements which if you know about the conversion exchange ratio, nutritional supplements and plant based based intake has the lowest, anyone who knows anything about nutrition will tell you its only partly about what you eat, it's more about what you can absorb. I’ve been drinking for 50 years. I’ve been sober since Labor Day -when I was taking to the ER for heart, palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath- I had diarrhea for months because my entire digestive track was irritated and I wasn’t absorbing any nutrition, especially electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, etc The doctor put me on potassium chloride pills, and magnesium supplements, and also B12 injections once a week along with thiamine- I look and feel 100% better. On my third week of sobriety. Longest I've gone in over 20 years without a drink. Typically would only abstain for a week or so. it's been a huge wakeup call. I’m 7 years sober and it was worth every moment. No friends no family no life just peace and introspection. Still recovering in the guts and liver. What a journey.
Last year I did dry January and half of February and I lost 30 pounds and didn’t feel any pain. I felt really good. Six weeks ago I decided to give up alcohol, cannabis and sugar. I have been successful with the alcohol and cannabis although sometimes I want to drink or have some edible. I understand about habits, and if I have a drink or cannabis I will have to start counting from day 1 again. I failed miserably quitting sugar, and I have not lost weight. Your videos REALLY help.
Congrats! Hang in there. Sugar is in everything. And what it isn’t in, the body converts carbs into sugar. Here’s how I quit. I did the long, long, slow taper method.(sugar is a skin to drugs for the boy) I measured how much sugar I was consuming daily in just beverages to start.Once I had the number I observed. Then I found stevia. I gradually started mixing it into sugar and then I gradually just cut some out at a time and replaced the sweetness with the stevia. Take as long as you need and keep a journal. Just a little tiny bit at a time helps your taste buds get use to the stevia. It’s a slow road to transition but also watch your weight and log it daily too. You will adjust to the taste. Especially when you see the scale moving. Don’t eat anything you don’t make at home. Use the same method in all of your cooking/baking. Once you get the hang of excepting the taste, cut and cut again until you are completely off of it. Go slow and pay close attention to yourself. You can totally do it. You don’t have to use stevia. There are other options. I gave up all processed foods too. That part was easy. I just decided to start with eating only things that I made. I take my own food in a cooler with me every where. It takes commitment but you can do it! After I got that down, I moved in to the low carb world. Low glycemic index first then cut out carbs slowly and tapered off completely. It’s all about the taper and determination. But it’s the taper. Lol!! I stoped trying to “make low carb”this and that because I had to lose serious baby weight after 40. Don’t ask as God has jokes. 😂 At any rate, once I got serious about eating whole, natural food and saw what was happening, before I knew it I had lost 90 lbs in a year. Just 12 months. Little to no real exercise due to taking care of my 4 kids and busy life. I just saw my body become fat adapted and sugar is a thing of the past. I don’t have a sweet tooth. I love tomatoes more than any food on the planet. Home grown ofc. But I had to cut them out too. So every once in a year when the harvest is ready. I do enjoy them. Other than that, I get back on the eating clean for me. It works like a dream! I’m 50 now and saw this channel. There’s some serious dedication going on here too. It’s the same mind set and you can do it! Be patient with yourself and remember when you slip up, just jump right back onto your new journey! You got this! Happy Healthy everybody!🤗

As always you're welcome back anytime, sober or otherwise. I know that it's hard to remain "perfect". That's why we don't practice perfection, and one of our slogans is practice makes PROGRESS!!! You don't have to announce that you're an alcoholic, and this is NOT a holier than thou community. It's all about making realistic progress, that you can be proud of and look back on one month, 6 months, and 12 months later knowing that you've made genuine change!
🎯 It's been found that people tend to forget after about a week.
BUT it is still our job to put more positive outcomes in our most recent history 😉
Thanks.
I'll meet you halfway how bout that? I'll make the vids, WE STAY SOBER 😎

Thank you for another solid update! Day 22!!! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
👏👏👏 Who doesn't love pizza and ice cream? Besides our cardiologist lol
(but of course talk to your doctor and all that)
LET HEALTHY FOOD BE THY MEDICINE!
I roughly remember a saying that went “if you keep track of how long youve been sober for your not sober yet” don’t let the mind set of being sober take control of your days bury it in the back of your head and continue with your life
I’m going to make my future self proud ❤
I know that's right 🕵️

🤓🤓🤓 onward and upward!
You're ruining your health if you're plant based in fact your officially in the danger zone of 3-7 years which is when health declines in 53% of the population, symptoms by 10-15 years and inability to absorb nutrients by 20+ years
I'm trying to tell you most nutrition hypothesis are wrong and Veganism/Plant based is the worst. It's the only diet which requires supplements which if you know about the conversion exchange ratio, nutritional supplements and plant based based intake has the lowest, anyone who knows anything about nutrition will tell you its only partly about what you eat, it's more about what you can absorb. DON'T DO VEGANISM

I’m still tired and I still miss my cocktail hour at 5 o’clock after work. I find other things to do at 5 o’clock to take my mind off wanting a drink. I’ll get through this. Thank you for all your videos.

Still recovering in the guts and liver. What a journey.
The body is capable of so much if we allow it the time and space to heal 🤗
At any rate, once I got serious about eating whole, natural food and saw what was happening, before I knew it I had lost 90 lbs in a year.
@@MCR1565 Thank you. I started cooking my meals and implemented a high fat low carb diet and my sugar cravings disappeared.
