We see in this episode that Bakugo and Deku truly take after each other when their backs are against the wall. Deku said he starts hurling insults when he gets into a really intense fight like Bakugo. Where his confidence flares up and he has an overwhelming desire to win. And in this episode, Bakugo embraces Deku's behavior of running out to save whoever needs help. Anyone, even if the other person feels they don't need it. When Deku is pushed into a corner, he adopts Bakugo's win to save mentality. And now Bakugo has adopted Deku's save to win mentality Now onto Shiggy, that boy has the endurance of a lifetime. Taking blasts from Endeavor. Strikes from a dragon. Blasts from Bakugo. Multiple 100% smashes from Deku. All while resisting AFO's voice in his head. In fact, the only reason AFO was able to temporarily take over was because Shigaraki's body and mind were overwhelmed for a second. Which says a lot about Tomura's sheer willpower. Both sides are going beyond their limits.
Can finally say they cut Bakugo's key play before Aizawa got shot. In the manga, he destroyed the other quirk destroying bullet which Shiggy attempted to throw before the last one landed. In the anime, they just made Ryukyu stop him from moving his other arm where he's carrying the other bullet. Missed points for Gabe 😔
If season one of [Redacted] taught me anything, is that cutting a limb off is so much easier if you break the bone first, in Aizawa's case, the Nomu who grabbed his leg, already shattered the bones in his leg, so I believe it if he sliced it off just like that lol
So glad that Rhett noticed Bakugo's explosion was different there when he was saving Deku. Also, regarding the tendrils and Forcible Quirk Activation quirk, you will get more to it next episode.
I recommed you to reread content of this episode in manga formate. They didn't skipped anything in this episode, but: 1. The manga art compared to the art in this episode is like comparing 3y old's drawings to some museum art. It's really sad that BONES is unable to match Horikoshi's talent and greatness. 2. In the last episode they skipped a scene with Bakugo, he was doing a usefull thing and not just sitting on the ground as they showed in this episode. 3. The gore and rawness is much greater in the manga. 4. Based on the preview for next episode (no spoiler) BONES fumbled in animation style (art) once again. What's worse, they fumbled with one of the greatest scenes and art in MHA history till today.

I agree. I have been looking forward to the animated adaptation of this fight since it happened in the manga, and between the tame music and energy-less animation, I would never have guessed that Deku was using 100% here. I haven't been this disappointed since My Villain Academia's adaptation.

Sadly This episode's pacing was all over the place, deku's 100% punches felt like regular attacks. Bones is really bad at prioritising which manga frames to adapt into fluid animation. Like most of Deku and Shigaraki’s fight scene was almost made of still frames. But Tomura falling out of a tank matters more, or anime only scene where women nomu is running towards endeavor.
Great and fun reactions as usual! Little note on Mirko's key play by the way but the manga draws a more direct connection between Shiggy's body beginning to crap out at that decisive moment and Mirko stopping him at 75%. Like the implication is if she hadn't hit his tank when she did, or just a little later, all the heroes would be dust in the wind at that moment this episode. Guessing they scrapped that beat to keep the focus all the way on Deku and Shiggy because there is understandably only so much time in the episode. Still such a great scene with the music, which by the way is a reprise of Mirko's track from earlier, so the audio parallel is there at least.
This episode really showed how far Bakugo has come, using the same line from episode 2/chapter 1 of the series that Deku used, as his most simply moved on its own
Really what makes this episode so impactful is how it finally puts into perspective how Bakugo’s treatment of Deku on top of the insecurities put on him by his peers and family, really combined into a person with incredibly self destructive and self-sacrificial tendencies. All throughout the fight you see how Deku is literally THROWING his body away with no second thought because if he isn’t giving his all with the power it makes him just like the Deku that was “Useless”. This isn’t just in this fight but through the whole show. Deku as a character is someone who will never put himself first or will see himself as completely worthy of protection. And with a power like One For All that is such this fated power in a war between good and evil, it’s like these shoes that he feels he is never fully gonna be able to wear. So he destroys himself at almost every opportunity to prove it again and again why a “useless” person like him should have it in the first place. To PROVE that he will make the most of it. And that expectation that the power holds is exactly WHY Bakugo calls it a cursed power. And I love that this episode shows that at the end of the day, Bakugo taps into a part of himself that Deku always possessed. The ability to move, and put yourself in harms way for someone you care about before you can even think. Because In the way that Deku embodies Bakugo’s philosophy of winning at all cost “no matter what happens to me”, Bakugo embodies Deku’s philosophy of saving being another way to win once “his body just moved on its own”, the very words that caused All Might to see worth in Deku from the beginning.

Yeah. Bakugo even says a few minutes later that Deku can't win an endurance battle against someone with regen. And seeing Deku's weakly animated attacks while calm slow music plays, while you think regen is off, takes away so much from the fight. They really f'ed up this episode, yet spent all the sakuga budget on anime only scenes for the Woman Nomu earlier.
Let’s get right into it. So just going to call it out now, don’t forget that Aizawa clearly moved in a way to make sure Rocklock and Manual DIDN’T get hit. And thanks to the Nomu breaking Aizawa’s leg, he COULD just lop it off like that. Not…that you should question what heroes can do because Endeavor can fall from the stratosphere and survive. And we’ve seen MULTIPLE heroes get blasted through buildings. And for him to be thinking about Eri not needing MORE guilt burdens than she has already. God I love this man. And then it all comes into place. Aizawa loses an eye, and is Shigaraki has his quirks back. And THIS is why I went into such detail to say yeah he has his quirks back, but it’s not game over. Shigaraki CAN call on any quirk in his arsenal at will, but he HAS to have the processing ability to decide how to learn each quirk’s intricacies and how to combine them. Otherwise he gets indecisive and can’t use his abilities. Meaning LITTLE difference to when he’s erased in heat of the moment giant fights. Like this one with 10 people going at him at once. But we HAVE arrived at his limits. At 75% it’s not his quirks that are not in him, it’s his body. The body cracking, the split personality, the AFO deciding to trade out. (And that’s MUCH more dangerous. HE has 200 years of experience and the only thing we have going against THAT personality is how little he thinks of everyone else except MAYBE Shigaraki.) Don’t be surprised Todoroki chased after Deku and Bakugo. I’m MORE shocked more of Class A didn’t hunt him down on the big battlefield. While it’s true the others wouldn’t be much help here, they’d probably be trying their damndest to get Deku and Bakugo away from the fight. Or do what they can when they reach them. And honestly his ice is the best thing after Endeavor’s fire blasts. Shake his temperature too much and you can do some SERIOUS damage. (And it cools off Endeavor who is thank god not melting by now.) Nothing can stop Machia. I don’t think ANYONE could. ONLY Shigaraki (and honestly only with decay with his indecisiveness) as of now since Deku has yet to claim the prime of OFA. And everyone’s concerns over what Machia had done and what they couldn’t continue to do, there is one reality. The true danger of this attack. If you can’t arrest all 100,000 at once, all you’ve done is start a more recent attack. The MOMENT Shigaraki woke up, was the moment that there was VERY little you could do. And every hero you have occupied with Shigaraki is a hero you don’t have for Machia. And the fact THEY are split up means there’s no group effort big enough to stop them OR the 100,000 as much as they’ve done already. Gran Torino is alive for now. He’s got an All-Might wound. And since he’s in all likelihood in league with Nana power, he COULD survive. And I can only IMAGINE how amazing it must feel to see Deku use Float. Deku’s float is more or less flight. He flies now. Yeah it’s suspended air time but OFA is a quirk booster too. So when it’s pushed to its limit with the prime, I can only imagine it really is flight. Not to mention the practically homing Blackwhip, he IMMEDIATELY BECOMES the BEST counter to what Shigaraki DOES have. And the slingshot battle begins. This hasn’t been seen since his battle with Todoroki ALL the way back in season 2. Blasting helplessly to solve something he has very little chance of solving. Except this time he has the backup he needs. Also evidence to say All-Might had other quirks. 1st one is Float between his vestige encounter with Nana in season 3 and his RIDICULOUS hang time on most circumstances. The next is the 4th. OFA is unknown to the government, so the fact he FOUND the 4th holder while ONLY knowing who the 5th holder was based on physical appearance and quirk is next to IMPOSSIBLE. For MANY reasons. And yes it drives me crazy All-Might won’t talk about OFA. I will say this. Bakugo’s next step of development is so dang good. While I won’t deny Bakugo does deep down have SOME semblance of care for Deku, it REALLY shouldn’t be given much weight. It’s ALWAYS about OFA. Whenever Deku starts analyzing or doing things that specifically help HIM think Bakugo is STILL very disapproving of what makes Deku…Deku. It’s OFA his rivalry is with and what he acknowledges NEVER would so much as be given a 2nd thought if it weren’t FOR OFA. Bakugo MIGHT be a lot more analytical of how he treated Deku. But that doesn’t change how messed up their relationship is. And as much as I hate saying it, there’s no way for Bakugo to atone through sacrifice. And that makes this moment SO much harder. We fall victim to overhyping Bakugo. And it’s that pill that people can’t swallow. He can address his weaknesses, but that doesn’t mean his weaknesses cease. This episode is traumatizing. Oh god everyone needs to process.
What's insane about aizawa is that he only blinked after shiggy raked his face. It's one thing to not blink while your eyes are being moistened, but resisting the instinct to blink or wince from pain is insane

That change in the ending panels was the cover art for the volume book around this time if I remember correctly. It is older bakugo outreaching his hand to little deku when little deku went to go help him in the river.
It is somewhat logical that if Aizawa immediately cut off his leg before the bullet injection spread through the rest of his body that it would work and stop the bullet from taking his quirk. It is a bit of a stretch for aizawa to completely cut off his lower leg but its anime.
Hey, shouldn't Shoto get a save for that hit he did on Shigs? I feel he should get a save or something. Bakugo gets points, Deku should get something, Shoto too. Maybe Endeavor? Very good showing all around.

As you can see they have high technologies in MHA... They even have a.i robots..support tools or items for heroes. They made aizawa this special piece of clothe made of steel wire alloy woven with nano fibers around his neck, which can be maneuvered with ridiculous skill and practice.. So I am pretty sure a knife that is sharp enough to cut through concrete and cut a leg in one swipe is not impossible given that his leg has already been crushed by the nomu from way back when they were escaping shigaraki's decay..
Regarding Gigantomachia we need to figure out just how much he weighs and if Ochako can float his ass. We know she can float a plane and a sea plane weighs at least 12 and a half thousand pounds. And in Heroes Rising those boulders used on Nine had to weigh a shitton too

Gotta remember that Endeavour was the one thats fighting for the longest period out of all the heroes. He fought weak nomus to taking down multiple high ends to fighting shigaraki for a good while. His body must be tired af especially with him spamming prominence burns.

Yeah that’s my small gripe with mha. They made a First American hero (in Japan, like that’s necessary) who did absolutely nothing - we never even see him doing anything with his powers - and just be there to lose. It could have been any other generic superhero. This world has its version of Sonic the Hedgehog for godssakes.

Get ready for a lot more of AFO yanking the controller off Shigaraki. Honestly still not sure how I feel about his presence post-kamino, feels like this was Shiggy’s time to shine but he got bested and then when endeavour prominence burned him the TV screen turns off. Since the quirk has fully set into his mind and body, and Shigaraki has been fighting AFO, now that he has fully blacked out due to pain his limp body is prime for player two to take over as player 1

Who ever directed this episode of the anime needs to be fired! I have been looking forward to this fight so long and they f'ed it up so bad. Teme music where it should have been hype. Inner monolog where we should have heard Deku screaming through rage and pain. All the amazing panels of deku's range contorted face covered in blood and tears. Every single punch he dealt was supposed to cause shock waves that made it hard for those on the ground to even stand, replaced by weak littel farts who's animation lacked so much energy you'd never guess every one of them was supposed to be 100%. Screw the animie. Go read the manga. They even added dialog of Shigi saying his regen wasn't working, even though in the manga it still does work. Then they kept Bakugo saying that Shigi has regen a few minutes later. Saying he doesn't have regen makes Deku's punches seem weaker. The lost potential of this episode is staggering!

Read the manga of this fight instead. The anime did not do it justice at all. This was incredibly muted and tame in comparison. Chapter 283-285.

Otherwise he gets indecisive and can’t use his abilities. Meaning LITTLE difference to when he’s erased in heat of the moment giant fights. Like this one with 10 people going at him at once. But we HAVE arrived at his limits. At 75% it’s not his quirks that are not in him, it’s his body. The body cracking, the split personality, the AFO deciding to trade out. (And that’s MUCH more dangerous. HE has 200 years of experience and the only thing we have going against THAT personality is how little he thinks of everyone else except MAYBE Shigaraki.)
Don’t be surprised Todoroki chased after Deku and Bakugo. I’m MORE shocked more of Class A didn’t hunt him down on the big battlefield. While it’s true the others wouldn’t be much help here, they’d probably be trying their damndest to get Deku and Bakugo away from the fight. Or do what they can when they reach them. And honestly his ice is the best thing after Endeavor’s fire blasts. Shake his temperature too much and you can do some SERIOUS damage. (And it cools off Endeavor who is thank god not melting by now.)
Nothing can stop Machia. I don’t think ANYONE could. ONLY Shigaraki (and honestly only with decay with his indecisiveness) as of now since Deku has yet to claim the prime of OFA. And everyone’s concerns over what Machia had done and what they couldn’t continue to do, there is one reality. The true danger of this attack. If you can’t arrest all 100,000 at once, all you’ve done is start a more recent attack. The MOMENT Shigaraki woke up, was the moment that there was VERY little you could do. And every hero you have occupied with Shigaraki is a hero you don’t have for Machia. And the fact THEY are split up means there’s no group effort big enough to stop them OR the 100,000 as much as they’ve done already.
Gran Torino is alive for now. He’s got an All-Might wound. And since he’s in all likelihood in league with Nana power, he COULD survive. And I can only IMAGINE how amazing it must feel to see Deku use Float.
Deku’s float is more or less flight. He flies now. Yeah it’s suspended air time but OFA is a quirk booster too. So when it’s pushed to its limit with the prime, I can only imagine it really is flight. Not to mention the practically homing Blackwhip, he IMMEDIATELY BECOMES the BEST counter to what Shigaraki DOES have. And the slingshot battle begins. This hasn’t been seen since his battle with Todoroki ALL the way back in season 2. Blasting helplessly to solve something he has very little chance of solving. Except this time he has the backup he needs.
Also evidence to say All-Might had other quirks. 1st one is Float between his vestige encounter with Nana in season 3 and his RIDICULOUS hang time on most circumstances. The next is the 4th. OFA is unknown to the government, so the fact he FOUND the 4th holder while ONLY knowing who the 5th holder was based on physical appearance and quirk is next to IMPOSSIBLE. For MANY reasons. And yes it drives me crazy All-Might won’t talk about OFA.
I will say this. Bakugo’s next step of development is so dang good. While I won’t deny Bakugo does deep down have SOME semblance of care for Deku, it REALLY shouldn’t be given much weight. It’s ALWAYS about OFA. Whenever Deku starts analyzing or doing things that specifically help HIM think Bakugo is STILL very disapproving of what makes Deku…Deku. It’s OFA his rivalry is with and what he acknowledges NEVER would so much as be given a 2nd thought if it weren’t FOR OFA. Bakugo MIGHT be a lot more analytical of how he treated Deku. But that doesn’t change how messed up their relationship is. And as much as I hate saying it, there’s no way for Bakugo to atone through sacrifice. And that makes this moment SO much harder. We fall victim to overhyping Bakugo. And it’s that pill that people can’t swallow. He can address his weaknesses, but that doesn’t mean his weaknesses cease.
This episode is traumatizing. Oh god everyone needs to process.
What's insane about aizawa is that he only blinked after shiggy raked his face. It's one thing to not blink while your eyes are being moistened, but resisting the instinct to blink or wince from pain is insane

Aizawa's leg bone was shattered when the high-end nomu grabbed him. This is why it was easy to cut with his knife.

It is somewhat logical that if Aizawa immediately cut off his leg before the bullet injection spread through the rest of his body that it would work and stop the bullet from taking his quirk. It is a bit of a stretch for aizawa to completely cut off his lower leg but its anime.
Hey, shouldn't Shoto get a save for that hit he did on Shigs? I feel he should get a save or something. Bakugo gets points, Deku should get something, Shoto too. Maybe Endeavor? Very good showing all around.

The most unbelievable part of the episode was how that knife took off Aizawa's leg with one swipe.
Yeah it also helped that the Nomu he fought broke his leg bones
That knife has been shown to penetrate concrete before. Considering the MHA world, it's not inconceivable that there'd be weapons like that.
As you can see they have high technologies in MHA... They even have a.i robots..support tools or items for heroes. They made aizawa this special piece of clothe made of steel wire alloy woven with nano fibers around his neck, which can be maneuvered with ridiculous skill and practice.. So I am pretty sure a knife that is sharp enough to cut through concrete and cut a leg in one swipe is not impossible given that his leg has already been crushed by the nomu from way back when they were escaping shigaraki's decay..

Gotta remember that Endeavour was the one thats fighting for the longest period out of all the heroes. He fought weak nomus to taking down multiple high ends to fighting shigaraki for a good while. His body must be tired af especially with him spamming prominence burns.

Yeah that’s my small gripe with mha. They made a First American hero (in Japan, like that’s necessary) who did absolutely nothing - we never even see him doing anything with his powers - and just be there to lose. It could have been any other generic superhero. This world has its version of Sonic the Hedgehog for godssakes.

Who ever directed this episode of the anime needs to be fired! I have been looking forward to this fight so long and they f'ed it up so bad. Teme music where it should have been hype. Inner monolog where we should have heard Deku screaming through rage and pain. All the amazing panels of deku's range contorted face covered in blood and tears. Every single punch he dealt was supposed to cause shock waves that made it hard for those on the ground to even stand, replaced by weak littel farts who's animation lacked so much energy you'd never guess every one of them was supposed to be 100%. Screw the animie. Go read the manga. They even added dialog of Shigi saying his regen wasn't working, even though in the manga it still does work. Then they kept Bakugo saying that Shigi has regen a few minutes later. Saying he doesn't have regen makes Deku's punches seem weaker. The lost potential of this episode is staggering!
After all that hype when bakugo sacrifice himself and you guys get emotinal .... man this show is PEAKKK
