This is now the most attractive smartwatch I have seen yet. Some of the features that set it apart is the tiny camera where the turn knob would usually be found, and the fact that this is a Dual Mode watch -- working with BOTH a SIM card and Bluetooth tethering to your existing phone. If that weren't enough, it also accepts a microSD card where you can store your photos and bring over music to play on your watch. The added build quality, higher level of water resistance, built-in heart rate monitor, and separate charging cable add features to this watch that make it a little higher prices, but worth it.
You can't beat all these features for under $40. This would make a great introductory smartwatch for those just getting started and not knowing if they really want a watch with an independent SIM card or if tethering is the way to go. It has both! Beyond an introductory watch, it is a solidly built go-to watch.

Ok, I love this watch. I had a serious problem with it, though. I wanted to listen to tunes on bluetooth earbuds from an SD card in the watch, but WITHOUT my phone. No matter how many things, I tried, it just wouldn't let me do it. And I have found NOTHING on the internet (or in the really poor instruction manual..lol) to solve this problem. It will play music from the watch speaker when paired with the phone, no problem (but who wants to listen to that???? I don't even want to listen to tunes out of my phone!) It will play music from the SD card on the phone speaker, but wouldn't let me listen on bluetooth speakers. It has no problem pairing with recognizing and pairing with bluetooth devices....ANYWAY...I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!! Do not pair your bluetooth speakers/earbuds first (which I do with ALL of my music devices)....INSTEAD, START your music player first and begin playing music....THEN open the bluetooth icon and search and pair or just pair your speakers/earbuds....the music will switch from the watch speakers to your external speakers/buds. Unfortunately, you CANNOT view the music player after this has been done, so you can't see your music and you can't go forward or backward or pause from the watch, HOWEVER.....SO....you can use speakers/earbuds that have forward/backward buttons on them and you can use the FILE MANAGER to help you see where you are. I hope this helps someone, as I have literally spent HOURS AND HOURS to figure this problem out. And it was well worth it. This little watch is a POWERHOUSE for such a low price! Thanks for reading.

I love your helpful enthusiastic videos. I have bought a silver (inc SD and SIM cards installed), and a gold GT88 (cards not yet installed). However I can't change the day and date etc. Also it doesn't seem to react like your video, to my mobile phone with Fundo Wear app. Any suggestions?
Thanks for watching Geoffrey. I don't know what to tell you about your watch behaving different than in the review video. That's not an Android watch, and the regular tethering and dual mode watches are much more difficult to troubleshoot.
Thank you. i thought that the KingWear GT88 was an android watch. I have managed to put the time and date on the watch. I put time Sync from On to Off and this let me set the watch. After i set the sync back to on. I need to put music on both watches now. This is not as easy as the videos.
It's the KW88 that's the full Android watch. The GT88 is a tethering type of watch so you should be able to make phone calls tethered to your phone. Yes, the time should set when you sync with your phone.
SmartWatch Ticks Thanks for your help, but I have installed a SIM card and a memory card so I can make phone calls from the watch and to download music. At the moment I still haven't found a way to do either on my new watch.
Make sure your carrier supports the network used on the watch. I'm pretty sure it's GSM 2G. Try putting your songs at the root of the microSD card and check that the format is supported by the watch. MP3 should work. Best of luck.

Strap mounted antennas are very fragile and thin, so bending the bands too much can damage them. Be careful!

I think you will have great success. It is an amazingly nice looking watch. Very high class. Some of them look rather cheap, but not this one. I wear it to church on Sunday!
Not a big Apple fan. Really loved their early products, like the first iPods and iPhones. Right now, I think they're just living on the pomps gathered in the past years. Software support with iOS 10 is literally FUBAR, and new products are technically inferior to the previous models, but charge you even more money.
Following your channel really made me realise how much strong and convenient the Chinese market is for this (and many others) kind of products. Probably an Apple Watch comes with many extra features and premium quality materials, but just by looking at products like this one or the Yradish I6 really makes you think about paying so much when you have these way cheaper (and spartan, of course) alternatives.
But I reckon that companies with such a strong social impact and influence in the market also have a bigger appeal on people (something that, needless to say, Chinese smartwatches definitely don't have). Which, after all, also explains why they are the only (or very few) ones who can charge people 200-300$ for a BOOK about Apple Products' Design and expect to actually sell copies of it...
Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. This Chinese smartwatch market is definitely at the beginning. Huge improvement and variety in just the past six months. Apple, well, it's the same single watch design. Different color bands, perhaps, but no innovation. Not even a round watch to compliment the square. We'll see where it all goes in 2017. I'd stretch for an Android smartwatch if possible. Of course, they aren't "Apple like" so if you're going for that look, this one is probably a good one.

Sad to say, none of these Android watches work on Verizon. It's just a different network technology. Hey, you aren't alone. Won't work on Sprint either.

You CAN pick up one of those 3rd party SIMS on GSM and buy some phone and data minutes for your watch without disturbing your Verizon plan. Then you could call your watch from your phone and discuss all that stuff that's going in in your life right now. At least until you run out of minutes. Good therapy. ;)

Didn't realize gearbest shipped to Canada. Just purchased the watch elsewhere at a higher price. The discount code you have in the description has expired. Do you know what the timeline of getting the watch is?
I had a Garmin vivofit HR. I walked into water waist deep and it killed. $250 gone in six minutes. Nice for a " sport watch" that has a swim function. This watch might be my new replacement.
Ouch. Once water gets in, it's basically trapped and starts corroding right away. If it ever happens again and you want to save the watch, try taking the back off, hitting it lightly with a hair dryer on warm, then putting the watch in a bag of rice to suck out any moisture. And, by all means, leave the watch OFF until all that is done. Or buy a waterproof watch. :)

I don't think this screen is exceptionally bright, so it could be a challenge. One of my earlier videos showed a large collection of these watches outdoors. I think it was the one showing GPS sensitivity of 5 different watches. That one gives you an idea of overall visibility for these watches.

Well, nothing will work with Sprint, Tammy, other than what the carrier may sell. Android watches are exclusively GSM based, and that's AT&T or T-Mobile. There really is no 'best', only different depending on what you want. Jump around and sample a few videos and you'll get a feel for what they can and can't do. Then it will be easier to decide.
King wear should make a version 2 of the kw88.

This is a really nice watch. The more I use it, the more I like it, as a tethering dual mode watch that is. No fancy Android apps, but it does what you expect for a simple tethering watch, and in style!

Why is the GT88 not an Android watch in your view?
I am sure most people call it an Android watch. I know it is not an Android Wear watch.
I can download new APK faces to my phone, but I don’t know how to transfer them to my GT88 watch.
All I have so far is Yahoo weather...the same a FundoWear, and a very basic orange circular face on my GT88.
As I said...you make it all look easy, but other websites make it far too complicated.
I may give up on this final hurdle of new watch faces...and that’s a shame.

Best I can tell you at this point is uninstall Fundowear from your phone. Reboot. Install "Mediatek Smart Device" and tether your watch to that app. On the Applications tab you can install faces to your watch but ONLY up to the VERY limited memory on your watch. There should be a few samples to try. Most folks can get from 4 to 6 or so, depending in how big each watch face turned out from the developer. Some make them small, others not. For custom faces you need to put the appropriate VXP files on your watch in the appropriate places for them to show in the app to be installed on the phone. It's not my focus area and I really need to stay on topic to get my part of global watch support done, and that's producing watch reviews, not troubleshooting watch face installation. As the GT88 only comes with four watch faces, and the Fundo Wear faces on the smartphone are poor, can you prepare a video that carefully and slowly shows us step-by-step how to put more watch-faces on this great watch. I know you have used words like 'APK' and 'clockskins' etc, but I am confused by other websites and I don't want to make a mistake. I particularly like the famous Swiss watch-face called 'Mondaine Swiss Railways.'

Well, Geoffrey, I focus on the watch face creation and installation for Android watches and, to a limited extent, Android Wear watches. The faces for watches like the GT88 are different, and I haven't studied them enough to make a video about it. Besides, there's and excellent website with detailed information on them. I have just purchased this watch, and am in the process of setting it up. I can't however, get it to work with my AU Telstra Sim which works in my other devices. Can you give me any advice or tricks which might help me to get the phone going please? Now, while waiting to solve that issue, I have been setting up the FundoWear to sync the data and altho my iphone and watch are showing that they are Bluetooth connected, it says that they're not connected! So I can't go any further. Any advice here also please?

No, the band on this watch doesn't appear to be removable. It probably has some antennas in it.

Looked all over to try to find out how to connect headset to this watch...and then found singingnun's fix up in the top notes. That is a start. But, I suspect that the headset you want to use must be the last Bluetooth device that was used, and is still paired with the watch. If I am right, to listen to music you would have to pair the headset with the watch, let it also connect, then turn the headset off, THEN start your music and turn on the headset. The watch should detect it and switch the sound over to the headset. BUT, this won't work with a phone call. In other words, you can't let a phone call connect (with the headset off) and then turn on the headset...hoping that, upon connection, the phone call sound will be switched to the headset. Unfortunately, the headset will connect, but the sound does not switch over. Stupid planning by Kingwear, for a watch that is implied to be an upgrade of the GT08, which can connect to headsets and can download apps/music from the I-net.

I tried the water test I dunk it over in the sink and ya you can't do that .but I took the battery out put by the fan to dry off and its coming on and charging.

Wow, I'm not sure what's happening there. Under Settings on your watch there should be a listing for Sound and then Volume where you can lower the volume of several different things, like media and alarms.

No, you need an Android watch for that, like the Kingwear KW88, not GT88

I can't download custom clock faces on my iphone, Not even from the fundowear app , What can i do?
Uninstall the Fundowear app and install the app Mediatek SmartDevice. See if the watch faces show up on the Applications tab in that app. If so, you should be able to install then to your watch once it is tethered to the app. When you are done installing watch faces, uninstall the SmartDevice app and go back to the Fundowear app for tethering. It is a better app for that.

I don't think so, but I'm not really sure. Check out the new video on the WiiWatch 2 tethering app to see how you get photos and other files and applications into an Android smartwatch, then consider upgrading to a newer Android watch instead. Have a look at the LEMFO LEM4 (square) or LEMX (round) watch reviews. They are larger watches and work well for showing photos. Also, the bands are removable so you can take them off and carry the device in your pocket like a pocket watch. Easy to pull out and pass around to people to show your pictures on a larger screen.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it will. Try downloading the Fundo wear app from the Play Store on your phone before you buy to make sure it works. That's the one you will use.

It sounds like the tethering isn't working right as it should sync the time. I haven't heard of this problem reported before. Try tethering with both the watch and phone away from all other devices.

If it's the app listed for tethering, then yes, probably. I say probably as now most watches that used Fundo now use Fundo Pro, but I don't know if the older ones can connect to the new app.

These tethering watches all use the Fundowear app. Give that a try.
How do you download apps? i dont see on my fundo wear "download applications".
Last I knew there weren't any apps available for download, except for a weather app that didn't't generally work. You can download them through uninstalling Fundo wear and installing Meadiatek Smart Device instead. That's how you can install additional watch faces as well.
I have a series 3, and the camera makes the watch a bit “weird” in my opinion I find it a bit ugly, I have a band that has a camera built into it called Cmra , and it makes the switch bulky.
Oh I remember those original camera based watches where the band looked like it had a bad pimple growing on it. Folks were wondering what that strange bump was on the watch. That was back when nobody thought about a watch taking pictures or recording conversations. We were so naive back then.

Wow, I'm not sure if you can get that detail of information. I think calorie burn info comes from the step count and your height/weight/age info.

This Kingwear GT88 is a tethering watch. You connect to the computer using Fundo wear app. You can send pictures and videos from your watch to your phone through the app. If you install a microSD card in the watch, you can take it out and put it in your computer to also get access to your files on the card. I don't know of a way to directly connect the watch to a computer.

No, this is not an Android watch. For that you'd need something like the Kingewar KW88 watch.

Wow, no idea on that one. Check if Bluetooth setting is not working. It should get the time fro, your phone if you're tethered.

You need to step up to the KW88 class of Android watches to get the keyboard. I haven't seen one on the GT88.

Correct. On these tethering apps, all you get is phone and text messaging with a SIM. Data over SIM is only on Android watches that allow a data plan access. Notifications come from your phone via Bluetooth in the tethering mode. So without using a SIM all you loose is the ability to do calls and texting FROM A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER when you don't have your phone with you.
SmartWatch Ticks ah ok so basically everything works via Bluetooth unless you are phone less that's great I bought one of these for cheap and was just curious on what I couldn't do without a sim as I know some of these also require a sim on certain aspects I've seen one like this that was not android based or nucleus that had a browser and Facebook both request you to have a sim card I just wanted to make sure I could just install an SD and do the rest via Bluetooth so thank you for clarifying that one more small question has this watch updated in software yet? and anything note worthy in the software if it has
Again, you'll only be able to do what apps are already in the watch and what is supported by the tethering app on the watch. You won't be able to put a browser on this watch and surf the Web. You need an Android watch for that. With Android watches, most of us still don't use a SIM. We connect to WiFi for high speed data. It works much better that way.

I'll say this if you buy a $50 dollar watch then you'll get a $50 dollar watch. I will say this I love these watches because it keeps to people at Samsung, Apple and the big players on the alert because of you can get all this for $50 then you'd expect more at $400
This is easily a $50 watch at $37. I'm very impressed. I just tried the voice recorder with my hand to my waist and it was almost too loud for the watch! Nice to have a watch with decent audio for a change.

I am sorry to tell you Jamal that you have done something for which there is no easy recovery on your watch. It is basically broken unless you flash new firmware to it. If you have not done that before, get ready for a few hours of learning, especially if your computer is Windows 10.
At this point I must pass you on to experts who are way more knowledgable than me to guide you. They have written FAQs and provide the software for flashing and maintain the firmware from the different vendors. Start here, set aside a lot of time to become a computer expert, get ready to learn about unsigned drivers, flash tools and properly connecting your watch to insure the process is successful. Oh, and you will loose everything on your watch as well. It will be wiped clean during the flashing process.
By the way, there is no secondary monitor for your watch, although your watch has switched to it, and, of course, the touch sensor overlay is totally not aligned with whatever you are seeing. Please don't touch that option again, on your watch or on your phone.

No, you have to buy a SIM card with phone calling and a data plan from your GSM phone carrier (like at&t or T-Mobile). This watch won't work with any SIM that doesn't offer 2G support, and most carriers have turned that off as of the end of 2016. You need to do research with your phone carrier before buying if you plan to use a SIM.
