I noticed something a bit wrong : the RAM is not a place where to stock all of our apps, it's like a "working memory", apps store some workfiles in it temporarly to access them faster, at each reboot, it clears itself off. The ROM however, is a storage memory, where you actually install your apps, music, etc...
Yes, that's in the classical meaning of RAM. In the Chinese meaning of RAM, it's that partition of memory where the apps actually reside after you install them from the Google Play Store or by side loading. When you launch one, then it loads into true RAM from the Chinese "RAM", or internal memory.
OK, help me out with this then. I can connect the watch to the compute and download a folder of apk files and they will live in the 8GB partition (you can see the memory used/remaining wit the file manager. I can tap on each of the apk files one by one and install them. Memory used in the 8GB portion doesn't change a bit. I can do this over and over and get a "memory Full" warning and can't install any more on a watch with 512MB "RAM". If I do the exact same thing on a watch with 1GB/8GB, I get the same results in the 8GB partition, but I can install all my apps and more to the watch without running out of memory. Now mind you, I'm just INSTALLING the apps, not running them. Where do they go if not showing up installed in the 8GB "ROM" memory? Again, I'm pretty sure the Chinese 512MB "RAM" is an internal memory storage area partitioned away from the remaining watch memory (about 2GB for 4GB ROM watches and 6GB for 8GB watches). As for actual Random Access Memory used when the apps are loaded and running on the watch, I have no idea. I would imagine it is butlt into the dual or quad core processor itself and not reported to the end user as it's not a decision factor for buying the watch.
Not quite true. The thing is that when you install an app the apk file goes to system memory (512MB) and the rest of the files are installed on internal sdcard (8GB or 4GB). That if these are new apps optimised for external installation, because some are only installing to internal memory - therefore the issue with "not enough space available"
Yea, with a Chinese spin on terms meshed from the computer industry. There's an attempt to use two terms to cover four things, actual computer processor RAM, total memory available for storage, and what portion of that memory is used for internal storage (where apps are stored) and external storage (where the app .apk files are placed before they are installed). Such a mess.
The APK that the scan is supposed to download is not working. I read someplace that there's another BT4 app that handles remote camera etc but I cannot find it. After seeing this video, I bought both watches and the Lefco is slightly better. Thanks for your efforts - thumbs up.
Thanks for the info. Does anybody out there have a replacement tethering app that works with the KW88 or LF16 watches? There is this option for notifications, but I don't think it supports remote camera and other typical tethering actions: roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/182/apps-sender-bluetooth-manager-receiver forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-m2d-notifications-sender-receiver-t2986778
Great review videos! Are these watches purely standalone or can they be used in conjunction with android or iPhones using the android wear app to receive notifications etc.?
Thanks for watching! These are pure Android watches and work standalone with SIM cards just like an Android phone in miniature. They do not tether well with phones, and definitely do not support Android Wear.
Can you help me to choose better one? I want to buy a good smart watch. Which of theese watches(Len5, Kw88, LF16 or other ones...) will be faster, and will have a differently customizations?(If I have a mistakes in sentenses, forgive me, I havent got a wide experience in communication with english-speaking people)
Make sure watch will work with the SIM in your area. Not all watches support the frequencies of all countries. Only GSM band is supported. Find out what band your carrier uses, and if they do 2G as well as 3G (most watches are 2G).
Love your videos. They are very thorough and you elaborate each detail very well. So with KW88, we have the liberty to take pics and make a video. Now how to transfer these pics and videos FROM android wear to either phone or laptop?
Easy. Download the Airdroid app to your watch and transfer to your computer wirelessly. Otherwise, just plug in the charging cable to your computer port and the watch should show up on your computer to drag and drop files between the watch an computer that way. You have to learn how to do that differently for each version of Windows and Mac.
Thank you SWT. However, i have found another most easy way. I simply downloaded "SHARE IT" on my watch and it was just easy peasy. Thank you for your help though.
I'm trying to balance ease of doing these reviews with overall review length and time I have to invest. I'm actually going way deeper than I planned these days. They're supposed to give you a feel for what the watch can do so you can decide if it is right for you, kind of like a clerk at a Department store would do. I doubt you'd have a clerk putting a SIM in each of the phones in the case for you to hear the quality of the call. They'd just tell you if that feature is supported or not. So calling, cellular data connection, phone app tethering, and similar time consuming aspects are left out for practicality. Thanks for your understanding.
hello!! do you know how can i put themes for kingwear kw88 watch? do you know other themes which are compatible with this watch? is there accessories (watchband, extra battery)? where can I find it? is there a program which I can put a language that isn't at list?
what is the best Chinese smartwatch, if my purpose of having smartwatch is only receive notifications and read(whats app/FB/Hangout) messages on watch, reply if needed, use navigation linked with my smartphone
So do a lot of people. The original KW88 is still the most popular. The S99C looks identical to the KW88 but with better specs. Check it out if you like the Kingwear.
yeah, it really does look quite nice :) I ordered something called "Diggro DI05". Unfortunately you don't have a review of it, but it looks promising. I like the design of it and it have good specs in my unprofessional option. It does not have a camera unfortunately, but why did I gave all that money for a phone with a fancy camera after all ^^
so i find the watch part of the watch disappointing if i can't move my wrist and have the screen come on like the original gear.....if i wanted just a black background with white numbers i would choose that as a watch face. the watch faces you can set don't make sense to me if i only see them when i push the button. am i missing a way to "in effect" bypass the "lock screen" (black screen with white numbers that pops up when i move the gear)? please
I have seen before that these China-watches give their produckts a little ekstra credit ;) Witch calculator would you recommend?! Also now that I have you... I bought my KW88 to test out one single app/funktion: the ZELLO app.. PTT - Push To Talk applikation. And it works beautifully. Now my wife and kids is no longer away than my wrist :) I Have testet other similar apps but Zello takes it to the top. Also Viber works like a charm and with these two apps installed all I need is a Data sharing second simcard that shares my gigabytes from my main SIMcard. Not sure if you have that feture in the US or at least I have never heard of it or heard you mention it. Anyways, if you go to zello.com you will not find a android wear edition.. But I know that you can email them for an APK. Android Wear devices are just so mush more expensive and that is why i chose a fullblown android China watch. Thanks again for all the hours of intertaintment :)
For calculator, try this one: plus.google.com/108584728070544203539/posts/c6BrG9dqZeF AT&T has a family plan thing where you can have several phone lines (SIMs) share the total gigabytes per month. Thanks for the lead on Zello, I'll check it out.
hi thanks the video is awesome ,i just bought a kw88 after looking at ur video, now i have a problem to connect to the phone and contact,i m using a samsung galaxy age 7
Hi James, remember the KW88 is a standalone smart watch phone, not a smartwatch. It works for calls and SMS messaging by putting a SIM in the device with it's own phone number. Pure tethering watches that allow you to make and receive calls on your watch while tethered to your phone are reviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/15PW44ynEvI/v-deo.html Some actually allow both and they are called "dual mode" watches. They are also reviewed with the tethering watches.
I don't understand your question about live view from smartphone. As for pfd, which I think you mean pdf, yes if you download an app for viewing them from the Google Play Store.
Personally I like the LEM5 because lf the larger selection of custom watch faces you can put on the watch. LF16 and KW88 use a different process. See this video to learn a bit more: Beginner’s Guide - ua-cam.com/video/hvOvGThb3i4/v-deo.html
Hi there I got the kw88 but I don't want to use as standard alone watch it just want to use with my mobile. how can I connect my kw88 with my mobile please there is no video how to connect with your mobile. Please help
There's no video because it is not designed to do that. Some folks are playing with 3rd party work arounds with limited success, but these are not tethering watches. They are standalone watch phones. Hi...Great review....i received my Lf16 but i am confused as how to install custom watch faces that show up in the list of watch faces....can you please share a the link....i tried the .apk as you mentioned in one of your videos....but they install and show up as an app, not as a watch face
Instructions should be in these resources: plus.google.com/u/0/communities/109827242607524552712/stream/e631bd11-b593-43b9-91be-34d2fc7a8d17 roundandroidwatches.proboards.com forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/kingwear-gv08-gt08-kw18-kw88-3g-wifi-t3411185 I'm not sure why the apk files are appearing as apps and not watch faces for you. Once they are installed, you should see them when you touch and hold the watch face and scroll left and right.
Thanks for the links....i tried some .apks and they show up under watch-faces......but most that i downloaded are .zip files, is there any way of getting them working on Lem16?
You have to first unzip the zip files and, if the contents is in .apk format, you can install those files. Some developers create more than one face and bundle them into one zip file which unzips into multiple files. remember not to confuse the .apk style for this watch with the style that is used for the FINOW and No.1 watches. They are not the same and won't work on the other platform.
Yes, this is a quite early review (check the date) and I was following China's use of the terms RAM and ROM. Now we talk about ROM as onboard storage. RAM is still RAM and you need at least 1GB for offline text to speech functions to work, and 2GB RAM for Google Assistant to work on an Android smartwatch.
+SmartWatch Ticks Can you please tell me how you installed multiple custom watchfaces on your watch without breaking the watchface selections?? I really need your help.
Just copy the .apk files for each watch face to your watch, then from the File Manager in your watch, run each .apk file one by one to install them. After they are installed, you can delete the .apk files from your watch to save space.
Make sure you've got to Settings, About, and Update and checked/installed any updates waiting, then reboot and try adding them one by one. You should be OK. I think I talked about this in the show notes for the KW88. You may want to check there as well.
SmartWatch Ticks I still use the Google now launcher, which has this feature built into it. It's very useful to me and I use it a lot for setting reminders and getting information quickly. Is this feature supported by these watches? Do they prompt for reminders and calendar events?
I haven't used it extensively, but yes, I think it works just like on a phone, but remember, you need constant network connection for these notifications to work. You won't get it via Bluetooth tethering to your phone, but you can get it from running Google Now separately on you watch and using WiFi hotspot on your phone to connect to your watch (or just being connected to your home or office WiFi or with a cellular data SIM connection)..
Does it need a CONSTANT connectivity, or will it sync whenever it can? Basically, if it knows the time, and if the last sync shows a notification at a certain time, it should pop... I guess... This feature is most important to me. Thanks for your helpful advice so far!
I have no idea. I think this has been discussed on the Proboards. It was shot in 720p. Double check that you have it available from the settings icon in the lower right of the video screen. It should be selectable there.
What would be a comparable prepaid cellular sim card company to use with this? Such as Straight talk or boost Mobile or Verizon? I bought the kw88(still waiting for shipment) and want to use it as a standalone cellular device when I'm out on my bike rides.
They're all somewhat splash proof, but the only Android watch out there that you can take swimming or into the shower is the Zeblaze Blitz. We're all waiting for something new, and I may have something coming in soon, so check back!
STAY AWAY from the KW88 Pro . I am on my second watch after they replaced the 1st at a cost and the replacement is now Busted, The Battery in this KW88 is rubbish . I have now no working watch and it cost me almost double the original price.
Wow, sorry to hear, but thanks for letting us know. The KW88/KW88 Pro watches are getting pretty old by today's standards, so not surprising the batteries may not hold up as much as before.
Haha, neither! With new releases I'd take the ZGPAX S99C over either of these. Check the spreadsheet specs and the review video and you'll see why: Comparison spreadsheet: tinyurl.com/AndroidWatches X99C review: ua-cam.com/video/VOXny53Taqw/v-deo.html
Hi people! I need a help. I bought KW88 and I do not know how to use it correctly. How to connect a mobile phone (also with android) and use the watch as an accessory, sending messages, calls and etc? I do not want to put an operator chip (sim card) in it, but rather use it connected to the cell phone. If anyone can help me by indicating applications or settings for this I appreciate it. Hug to everyone. Regards
Sorry, but you can't do that. These Android watches are standalone watch/phones. You need to put a separate SIM with it's own phone number in the watch. It won't "tether" to you phone for calls and messages.
Best you can do is look into this: roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/182/apps-sender-bluetooth-manager-receiver forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-m2d-notifications-sender-receiver-t2986778

SmartWatch Ticks Thank you very much for the extensive answer and links. Is there any chance you could test these two apps on this watch or any watch you have laying around, I'm worried they might be unusable cause areas will be cut off cause you can't reach everything in the apps, and I will basically be buying one just to use these two apps, I would really appreciate it. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lingodeer play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.povalyaev.WorkAudioBook
It is indeed a blatant copy without any disregard ,however, it is less then 1/3 of the cost. Now, if they could only add an nfc payment method to these watches, then they could possibly stand out in what has otherwise become flooded market. Would this be enough? Pry not, as consumers we always want more.
john christian good point... a lot of Mr. Ticks watches look pretty cool but they (at least in my opinion) lack the finish and utility that my moto360 2 and my soon to be gear s3 has ,:)
Sorry, I'd have to go through them all just like you. Plow through these videos to find the one with the watch face you want, the check the show nots on how to get it: ua-cam.com/video/EyXQdmJy0_E/v-deo.html
If you know what it means as reported by the Chinese vendors, please let us all know. A watch that claims to have 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM has what, exactly?
SmartWatch Ticks ... I meant the definition, not the amount. But it's no big deal. Good reviews though, I've been watching your videos because I want to get an android watch. The only thing that I don't like about them, and most smart watches, is that they are too thick. Big in general. And the small ones have huge bezels, and tiny screens, like the pebble smart watches. Which would you say is the smallest android os watch? I think I saw that you had like 5 or 6 in another one of your videos. Please, thank you.
I presume you'er talking Android watches and not all the watches I've reviewed. There's some real thin fitness watch/band things, but that's totally different. For thin Android, I'm just about th review a prototype that I need the company's permission to talk about. You can see it in the watch face review I did for Robert Pool a couple of weeks back. You can at least get a feel for the size and thickness from that. It's not super thin, but getting better!
Bullshit, the website where I got mine had images and a sample video showing a lf16 and in the end I got a dam GYS435 that looks like an lf16 but have nothing on the back at all, not even where to put the card, and the apps ask for a card to use them. And charges with a usb cable, the kind of cables you use on androids, plus need a damn shity monthly payed app BT Notifier to use it properly besides the basic stuff like time and phone calls
Yes they should add that to the specs, great watch for one month and then you need to print your own back because Kingwear will not respond to your requests to replace it. I see yours has a crack as well at 4:21. Save your money, buy something else, and stop recommending it until they fix it or send out replacements.
If you think that back is bad, you should look at the No.1 D6 and S6. It's a potato chip forced into a snap on shape. Splits in multiple cracks the first time you pull it off. And the magnets suck as well. Won't hold the charging wire in place. Kingwear is not alone in the 'stupid' design award competition.
I already lost my money on the kw88, just trying to save others the loss too. As I said, seeing the crack in yours and the video titled "Which should you buy" should be obvious, don't buy the one that will crack right after you get it. Thanks for the videos.

Price?
hi thanks the video is awesome ,i just bought a kw88 after looking at ur video, now i have a problem to connect to the phone and contact,i m using a samsung galaxy age 7
Hi James, remember the KW88 is a standalone smart watch phone, not a smartwatch. It works for calls and SMS messaging by putting a SIM in the device with it's own phone number. Pure tethering watches that allow you to make and receive calls on your watch while tethered to your phone are reviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/15PW44ynEvI/v-deo.html
Some actually allow both and they are called "dual mode" watches. They are also reviewed with the tethering watches.
Pls Help! what is the best Chinese smartwatch for use on gym and compatible with spotify music offline?
Try KW88, you will love it.
So hard to choose, a cheaper crappier version of Gear S3 or a Tag Heuer clone that's probably better then the original...
how's that better then gear 3 or tag ? both brands gives quality , cheaper alternative look as good but cant compare
Can i display a view( live ) from a smartphone ? Can i display pfd documents or photos ?
I don't understand your question about live view from smartphone. As for pfd, which I think you mean pdf, yes if you download an app for viewing them from the Google Play Store.
what about contact with water or sweat? Are this phones any water resistant?
You can probably get them a little wet, but only the Zeblaze Blitz (Z9) is truly waterproof.
it can survive sweat and splash. But NOT for swim.
Sir Kingwear 88 is it waterproof??
No
BERETTA XIII are you fasing any issues with this watch?? Plz tell me
the problem the battery does not hold one day since I bought an xiaomi amazfit Stratos 2
BERETTA XIII any other problem other than battery?? Plz tell me
so what is for you better of lemfo lem5 lemfo lf16 and kingwear kw88?
Personally I like the LEM5 because lf the larger selection of custom watch faces you can put on the watch. LF16 and KW88 use a different process. See this video to learn a bit more:

Yeah i saw the video today :) thank you very much, you ve help me a lot to choose 😊
Still, if you have the time and want to fiddle with your watch you can start here:

Did u try the Nixon Mission Smartwatch?
No, not yet. I don't have a supplier for it.
Thx! ;] Good video, by the way. Congratulations.
Hi...Great review....i received my Lf16 but i am confused as how to install custom watch faces that show up in the list of watch faces....can you please share a the link....i tried the .apk as you mentioned in one of your videos....but they install and show up as an app, not as a watch face
Instructions should be in these resources:
plus.google.com/u/0/communities/109827242607524552712/stream/e631bd11-b593-43b9-91be-34d2fc7a8d17

forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/kingwear-gv08-gt08-kw18-kw88-3g-wifi-t3411185
I'm not sure why the apk files are appearing as apps and not watch faces for you.
They are not the same and won't work on the other platform.
bezel size on both in mm plz.
Are you able to get 3g connectivity with either? I have the kw88 and only able to connect to edge/2g only.
Oh yeah and Bluetooth tether never worked. Wondering if LF was the same.
actually KW88 support both 3g and 2g.
For further reviews, please look up the definitions for RAM and ROM, you don't have it excactly spot on ;=)
Yes, this is a quite early review (check the date) and I was following China's use of the terms RAM and ROM. Now we talk about ROM as onboard storage. RAM is still RAM and you need at least 1GB for offline text to speech functions to work, and 2GB RAM for Google Assistant to work on an Android smartwatch.
+SmartWatch Ticks ... Which one will you recommend- kw88 , domino dm368 or lemfo lf16
And which has best battery life on normal usage?
Is there a memory card slot in kingwear kw88. Plz reply
No
please review abaut the GPS.
Already have!

thanks mate..
SmartWatch Ticks
So I can install multiple watchfaces at once without breaking the preview thing?
Make sure you've got to Settings, About, and Update and checked/installed any updates waiting, then reboot and try adding them one by one. You should be OK. I think I talked about this in the show notes for the KW88. You may want to check there as well.
SmartWatch Ticks
I''ll surely try. Thanks for the help, you're awesome. Can I also do the same with finow Q3 plus?
can the watches connect with Bluetooth headphones?
Yes, they should, but I haven't tried it to verify.
Ok thanks love your vids!
HGZN it does work
Ok thanks..
Did someone try using google's assistant with any of these watches? Can you give voice commands using it?
The "OK Google" works as well as Google Now, but I don't know how to get the official new Google Assistant to work. IS there an app out for that yet?
SmartWatch Ticks
I still use the Google now launcher, which has this feature built into it.
This is the best place to discuss your situation: Join the “Round Android Watches Proboard” here: roundandroidwatches.proboards.com

nice, but should have load up 720 p video , getting old cant see clearly , lol
It was shot in 720p. Double check that you have it available from the settings icon in the lower right of the video screen. It should be selectable there.
What would be a comparable prepaid cellular sim card company to use with this? Such as Straight talk or boost Mobile or Verizon? I bought the kw88(still waiting for shipment) and want to use it as a standalone cellular device when I'm out on my bike rides.
Kw88 or Lemfo les1?
LES1. More memory.
les1 or d7?
You decide. I don't answer any more.
Battery life? Les1 or kw88
KW88 is coming in KW88 Pro version with 1G and 16G.
Kw88 has better design I will get that one
Best Seller as well! and it is coming in KW88 Pro
Is there a watch with 8gb and 1gb that has an oled ?
Yep. See the next video, uploading now (live in under an hour): ua-cam.com/video/wJzIJoYm-h4/v-deo.html
is lemfo lf16 waterproof
They're all somewhat splash proof, but the only Android watch out there that you can take swimming or into the shower is the Zeblaze Blitz. We're all waiting for something new, and I may have something coming in soon, so check back!
Thank u
STAY AWAY from the KW88 Pro . I am on my second watch after they replaced the 1st at a cost and the replacement is now Busted, The Battery in this KW88 is rubbish . I have now no working watch and it cost me almost double the original price.
Wow, sorry to hear, but thanks for letting us know. The KW88/KW88 Pro watches are getting pretty old by today's standards, so not surprising the batteries may not hold up as much as before.
Which one is best
Haha, neither! With new releases I'd take the ZGPAX S99C over either of these. Check the spreadsheet specs and the review video and you'll see why:
Comparison spreadsheet: tinyurl.com/AndroidWatches
X99C review: ua-cam.com/video/VOXny53Taqw/v-deo.html
Can i swim with kw88?
No, it is not waterproof. Sorry.
you may try with KW06
Best you can do is look into this: roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/182/apps-sender-bluetooth-manager-receiver
forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-m2d-notifications-sender-receiver-t2986778
SmartWatch Ticks thank you
can I make calls with a sim card
Yes, with a SIM card in the watch as long as the network is GSM and adheres to the frequencies supported by the watch. Check the specs!
yes absolutely
Has anyone who owns this tried if sideloading apps or if rooting it works?
Sideloading apps works fine. For info on rooting, check here:

SmartWatch Ticks Thank you very much for the extensive answer and links.
Is there any chance you could test these two apps on this watch or any watch you have laying around, I'm worried they might be unusable cause areas will be cut off cause you can't reach everything in the apps, and I will basically be buying one just to use these two apps, I would really appreciate it.

Actually I see now that theres a square mode for apps on these clocks so you can ignore my request.
Lemfo 16 looks like it's trying to knock off the gear s3 frontier ;)
It is indeed a blatant copy without any disregard ,however, it is less then 1/3 of the cost. Now, if they could only add an nfc payment method to these watches, then they could possibly stand out in what has otherwise become flooded market. Would this be enough? Pry not, as consumers we always want more.
john christian good point... a lot of Mr. Ticks watches look pretty cool but they (at least in my opinion) lack the finish and utility that my moto360 2 and my soon to be gear s3 has ,:)
Max K regardless I'm still addicted to mr. ticks videos :-)
Naw, you think they would do that? I can't imagine.....
How does this guy not know what RAM and ROM are
'Cause I've said them too many times that they are slurring together. Sorry.
Can u send me link for Rolex watch clock face, I've been looking for it for absolutely ages
Sorry, I'd have to go through them all just like you. Plow through these videos to find the one with the watch face you want, the check the show nots on how to get it: ua-cam.com/video/EyXQdmJy0_E/v-deo.html

you hot the ram and rom wrong. if you don't know what it means, just be honest, and say u don't know.
SmartWatch Ticks yes, that's correct, I was referring to android watches. And thank you, I will look for that video review.

I got a finow x5 off Ebay for 41 dollars.
+sparks 41 dollors ??
I won it at auction. it was used but works GREAT
Ohhh great
Dirty Harry yea...I got it Saturday.
No merece la pena es un reloj No recomendable ...porque? La batería te dura solo horas y eso sin confección y sin uso ...

Until Kingwear replaces the back plate with one that doesn't crack, no one should buy the kw88
I think somebody is trying to 3D print the KW88 back with better material. Sad we have to go to these lengths to get a decent product.
And thanks for your input Paul!
