I love this game, thank you for having introducted me to the videogames world
Well, if you think not in the Omega Metroid, but the SA-X being the final boss, i'd say Metroid Fusion has a better final battle. I mean, the damn thing is a complete nightmare throughout the entire game.
Yakuza is always where I start having trouble keeping up with the boss patterns and being overwhelmed by the little things they throw at you. I tried doing a 1% run and it fell apart at him
Callum Lee oh yea the first time I beat the game I saw Ridley the first thing I said was OW MY EARS! Then I said WAT THE HELL DID THEY DO TO YOU RIDLEY
How in the absolute hell did you manage this?! This game is absolutely ridiculous. Especially Neo Ridley, I'm surprised you're not taking contact damage every second due to how gigantic he is, and that he didn't grab you even once.
BeetLoot Yeah, after watching this, I started fighting Ridley a bit more aggressively. I only got grabbed once and I barely took any damage. He also went down much faster. I have no idea what I changed. ._.
BeetLoot Yeah, that thing was really annoying. Although, it becomes much easier when you realise only one flower can hit you on one platform each if you're standing still. Then it becomes a matter of jumping over the beam shots.
BeetLoot Meh, I had a bit of difficulty against the actual SA-X, but it's mutated form was pathetic. No projectiles, predictable jump attack, and it only takes two or three charge shots to kill it. Hell, the Core X after it was more difficult!
Just something pointless I wanted to mention, but when the atmospheric cooler is turned on, it plays the same sound that plays in the beginning of a race in F-Zero.
Something that I really do love in Fusion is the Mega Man kind of way that most of the bosses incorporate their power up really well into the fight. Like for a lot of Metroid, it feels more like “oh hey, go fight Kraid. Good job here’s your Varia Suit”. But for this game? They meld it into the mechanics of the boss. Want your morph ball? Dude’s gonna roll into a ball and run you over. Want your high jump? Plant thingy’s gonna jump on you. Want your Gravity suit? This melty thing can control gravity. *SPOILERS BELOW FOR DREAD* Especially since Dread is just out as I’m writing this and have played through, I like that that’s been brought back with the EMMI’s, how each one you destroy gives you a power-up that’s linked to /how/ they tried to capture you (tight spaces, speed, ice, etc.)
ringlhach I wish I had Fusion on the Gameboy advance so that I could use the suit in Prime. Ok I don't really want it that much. Our only hope for Fusion Samus is a game that takes place at the end of the timeline
but the final boss, S.A.X. was a complete joke and really disappointing seeing how scary this being was before the fight. Even the nightmare felt more like a final boss then him!
Zachary Putnam man you are right.when you see the sa-x during the game, you always take a bit scared.but he as a final boss...was a suck.and i dont have to talk about the omega metroid, right?and you aren't right about nightmare be the final boss.he who gave more job to beat!
I thought so too, until I realized they didn't have much to work with. Maybe if they closed the room space a bit. But to be honest there just isn't too much you can do with the SA-X aside from giving it a bigger HP bar and a smaller room.
You really brilliantly summed up the game in this video; I'm particularly happy with how you edited the transitions from fight to fight, so that it often looks as though they're literally happening in consecutive rooms with no sense of a break. You've also really illustrated some alternate tactical approaches to some of the fights that have really helped me in replaying the game recently.
If Metroid Fusion had boss achievements: Roll 'im over: Defeat Arachnus Almost got me: Defeat Elephant Bird Set 'em up knock 'em down: Defeat Zazabi Super sonic sucker: Defeat Serris I'm no intruder: Weaken the B.O.X. Security Robot Saboteur sabotaged: Defeat Mega Core-X Poser pulverized: Defeat the Scientist Mimic Crawl on back to mommy: Defeat Yakuza Machinery CPR: Defeat Nettori The nightmare's over: Defeat Nightmare Talk about a headache: Defeat the B.O.X. Security Robot Final destination for this dragon: Defeat Neo-Ridley Only one Samus Aran: Defeat SA-X Metroid's omega: Defeat the Omega Metroid and escape
Metroid is by far my favorite and most respected game in the world. The sense of adventure, suspense, and fear just creates the perfect gaming playground for me
I did not know this game, it's really impressive, the quality of the music, the sound effects, the mechanics, now I understand why Metroid has so many titles on different platforms
Protip: For the first BOX fight, you can hang right above the projectile when it detonates and you'll be safe from both pillars of flame. You're also lined up for a shot after it hops twice.
Just gotta be careful and calculate the distance right, otherwise the B.O.X. may hop right in your face and knock you down. Pain in the ass when that happens. >:x
Remember this game what’s played a lot of times when i had the gameboy sp and played in emulators for pc,phone and ps vita i don’t get tired of play this and zero Mission amazing childhood memories
I'm gonna go chronologically (yes I'm including areas on planets as well, and anything she steps foot on) - The part of the ship Ian Malkovich went to fix (cutscene in Other M) - Original Tourian from the original Metroid - Space Pirate frigate from Prime 1 - Like, a dozen planets in Prime Hunters - Dark Aether from Prime 2 - Phaaze from Prime 3 - Ceres from SM - BOTTLE Ship from Other M - BSL Research Station from Fusion - SR388 from Fusion - Some other planet caught in the explosion when the BSL station impacted SR388 Think that's about it.
What did me in as a 8yo was the SA-X. Knowing it's out there, waiting for me, hunting me. That fu*ked with me. And those cold dead eyes and deafening foot steps
Even tho i was 12 at the time this game came out, some monsters still gave me the creeps like SaX or Serris, because i never liked snakes, let alone a giant alien aquatic snake.
There was definate point point where I had to just out down the game, it's was just too scary for me. Zero mission was much more emotionally manageable than I was
Me and my brother optimized the fun out of the SA-X fight after we got to a certain point, so it's refreshing to see a video of somebody actually making the fight look and feel like an actual fight by jumping around on the platforms so much
The Ridley-X fight and the two halves of the B.O.X fight (taking them together with an unspecified passage of time between them) are easily two of the top 50 experiences in all of video game history, imo. Absolute masterpieces, right up there with the Mother Brain in Super Metroid. (Sadly, nothing in Zero Mission comes close imo.)
I know its a bit late, but i thought Ridley X is waaaaay easier with a diagonal blast from a charge beam, since it deals multi hits and quickly stuns it.
Michael Gonzalez That is correct. It's quicker to kill Ridely with a charge beam with an aggressive playstyle (causes him to scream/stunned). Missles are spammable but take longer to get Ridley down imo.
Nope when you fight the spider boss you need to go through a eye door when you get the ice missiles they do more damage then the charge beem it is a one hit ko to to the eye doors
Oh man i loved this game so much, my grandma bought me a GBA along with this game, i unlocked all secrets with the help of nintendo guide magazines. What a time to be alive.
I was just poking fun at the fact that the Omega Metroid will always hit you at that point because it's a scripted event. The fight doesn't continue until it hits you the first time. So, in my opinion that hit doesn't count against a "no damage" run.
thanks for the nostalgia trip. I forgot how much I hated/was frustrated by all the bosses while still loving the game and getting the feeling of triumph when I finally beat them
I love the little touches you added, like only changing to the next boss when you go through a door so it looks like a natural screen transition.

Probably my favorite 2D Metroid game... Overall it has the best bosses, but Super Metroid has a better final boss IMO.
So this is the last of the 2D Metroid games right? Or have you done the NES one yet?
Yes, it'll be incomplete without the original.
***** :D
Well, if you think not in the Omega Metroid, but the SA-X being the final boss, i'd say Metroid Fusion has a better final battle. I mean, the damn thing is a complete nightmare throughout the entire game.
Dimi-Kun I consider both the Omega Metroid and SA-X the final boss, but I still like fighting Mother Brain more for some reason.
Yakuza is always where I start having trouble keeping up with the boss patterns and being overwhelmed by the little things they throw at you. I tried doing a 1% run and it fell apart at him
11:49 well that gives a whole new meaning to the word “nightmare”
OH GOD DAMN🤢🤮
16:13 And so the childhood horrors and the Shattering of Ear drums commences
Callum Lee i agree.the ridley's screams remember a scared kid
am i the only one that wasnt that afraid of ridley x more nightmare
DaniloPlays_01 No Wonder Samus Was A Coward In Other M Because Of THAT Scream
Callum Lee i
Callum Lee oh yea the first time I beat the game I saw Ridley the first thing I said was OW MY EARS!
BeetLoot
Yeah, after watching this, I started fighting Ridley a bit more aggressively.
I only got grabbed once and I barely took any damage. He also went down much faster.
I have no idea what I changed. ._.
BeetLoot
Screw that, I had headphones on... sure the volume was down, but still.
BeetLoot
Yeah, that thing was really annoying. Although, it becomes much easier when you realise only one flower can hit you on one platform each if you're standing still. Then it becomes a matter of jumping over the beam shots.
BeetLoot
Meh, I had a bit of difficulty against the actual SA-X, but it's mutated form was pathetic.
Ridley X's scream.
Just...
...
Also, the editing in this video is so dang clever, just wanted to say that.
ZorotheGallade ikr!
ZorotheGallade he has the same scream in zero mission
ZorotheGallade I know!
Leave the ears alone!
yes
Yuri Suzano Silva say that to Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury.
Awesome af guitar, especially the title theme and Vegeta's theme.
this is the first Metroid game I’ve beaten. that Ridley fight is one of my favorite bosses ever. i actually think the voice is very well implemented
*SPOILERS BELOW FOR DREAD*
Especially since Dread is just out as I’m writing this and have played through, I like that that’s been brought back with the EMMI’s, how each one you destroy gives you a power-up that’s linked to /how/ they tried to capture you (tight spaces, speed, ice, etc.)
Haven’t read the spoilers but thank you for warning me about them. Much appreciated.
Echoes did the same, and yeah it's always cool when games do that.
Lmao Ridley on the thumbnail is just like "FITE ME U LIL BITCH" and Samus is all "k"
As cool as Prime was, wish we'd see more Fusion Samus.
ringlhach I wish I had Fusion on the Gameboy advance so that I could use the suit in Prime.
Ok I don't really want it that much. Our only hope for Fusion Samus is a game that takes place at the end of the timeline
You can get her suit in that game in Metroid Samus Returns.
Just going to put this out though: The game gets EXTREMELY hard with it.
@@solarflare9078 yeah, you need a metroid amiibo though.

I love how you made or tried to make doors connected transitions instead of fading out from one scene to the next, that was pretty neat
To be honest Metroid Fusion was a kick-ass action boom awesome boss and the SAX was the most badass battle I've ever battled in my entire life!
Ridley X and his infamous ear rape scream.

If he's going down he's taking your hearing with him

Oh how I loved this game ^^
Awesome game with an awesome premise and an awesome list of bosses, I especially loved Nightmare and the new Ridley.
but the final boss, S.A.X. was a complete joke and really disappointing seeing how scary this being was before the fight.
MidBoss666 I hate the new Ridley I like the super metroid one the most
+The diamond Bros
To each their own.
19:12 i always loved that fight, feels like a pvp
in this case looks like the sweaty player vs the guy who just finished the storyline lol

Metroid is by far my favorite and most respected game in the world. The sense of adventure, suspense, and fear just creates the perfect gaming playground for me
These were great games for a handheld.
I miss this game. It was my first Metroid.
The music, aura, design and the monsters in this game are the extract of nightmares.
The transition between Serris and the first fight between the security robot was very smooth
Who else would love a remake of Metroid Fusion? Not 3d or anything, but with say, the super metroid wall jump, and sequence breaking?
Metroid fusion dosen't need a remake. What needs it is metroid 2.
Well, ah, you know you're in luck right?
Judging by the trailer for the newly announced Samus Returns, it looks like it's going to be a remake of Metroid 2.
Or, more correctly, Samus Returns is gonna be another metroid 2 remake
kill me
SPOILER ALERT.
Well youre in luck because at the end of SAMUS returns they tease Metroid fusion remake at the very end.
I did not know this game, it's really impressive, the quality of the music, the sound effects, the mechanics, now I understand why Metroid has so many titles on different platforms
That boss at 5:40 was too annoying for me so all I did was charge my shots and jumped into it.
Wasn't it's name Varia X?
Protip: For the first BOX fight, you can hang right above the projectile when it detonates and you'll be safe from both pillars of flame. You're also lined up for a shot after it hops twice.
Just gotta be careful and calculate the distance right, otherwise the B.O.X. may hop right in your face and knock you down. Pain in the ass when that happens. >:x
@@MrDibara That only happens in the second fight.
Remember this game what’s played a lot of times when i had the gameboy sp and played in emulators for pc,phone and ps vita i don’t get tired of play this and zero Mission amazing childhood memories
How many planets has Samus destroyed now? I'm thinking at least 4...
Eat your heart out, Mike Nelson.
this is not a planet, it is an spacial station
I'm gonna go chronologically (yes I'm including areas on planets as well, and anything she steps foot on)
- The part of the ship Ian Malkovich went to fix (cutscene in Other M)
- Original Tourian from the original Metroid
- Space Pirate frigate from Prime 1
- Like, a dozen planets in Prime Hunters
- Dark Aether from Prime 2
- Phaaze from Prime 3
- Ceres from SM
- BOTTLE Ship from Other M
- BSL Research Station from Fusion
- SR388 from Fusion
- Some other planet caught in the explosion when the BSL station impacted SR388
Think that's about it.
Zebes*
And half of these wasn't samus herself that destroyed it.
Zebes was because of a bomb of the space pirates, tourian too
Oh right, how did I miss Zebes
Yes, anything she steps on.
Most scariest 2d metroid game ever made this game gave me nightmares as a kid
I mean one of the bosses is named the nightmare so
@@kazonii8428 him giving me a nightmare is the reason why I started playing Metroid.

Anybody else that used to be terrified of nightmare boss when they were little?
God, the theme for Serris and Yakuza is fucking amazing.
I love that theme in particular, i dont know why. Its got thst bassy house tones to it. Gets me in the mood for dancing.
Me and my brother optimized the fun out of the SA-X fight after we got to a certain point, so it's refreshing to see a video of somebody actually making the fight look and feel like an actual fight by jumping around on the platforms so much
I can't be the only one who thought Serris was a pain in the ass the first playthrough.
I defend your opinion. It is exactly what happened to me.
My reaction time sucked so I kept on missing.
What you hear when listening to Neo-Ridley OST: A decent 32-Bit song.
What you hear when fighting Neo-Ridley: *PAINFUL SCREACHING INTENSIFIES*
If I had a fucking dollar for every time I've been killed by the fucking Core-X!
You'd be a billionaire
GibusSpy 21 I would have about 10 bux
The Ridley-X fight and the two halves of the B.O.X fight (taking them together with an unspecified passage of time between them) are easily two of the top 50 experiences in all of video game history, imo. Absolute masterpieces, right up there with the Mother Brain in Super Metroid. (Sadly, nothing in Zero Mission comes close imo.)
God Fusion is amazing, it still looks amazing even today.
Shadowserg keep up the great work man your one of my favorite youtubers I hope you succeed later on in life :)
You say that as if Shadow isn't the most successful hardcore gamer alive.
Thanks. :)
Thanks for this video Shadowserg. you have my thanks. you helped me beat this game. Come on posting videos man
I know its a bit late, but i thought Ridley X is waaaaay easier with a diagonal blast from a charge beam, since it deals multi hits and quickly stuns it.
This guy deserves more subs.
Ridley used ear rape! It's super effective! Samus has gone deaf!
I find that the Charge Beam does more damage than missiles do
It does, but missiles are more spammable, which can ultimately add up to higher damage output. Really just comes down to personal preference.
Michael Gonzalez That is correct. It's quicker to kill Ridely with a charge beam with an aggressive playstyle (causes him to scream/stunned). Missles are spammable but take longer to get Ridley down imo.
Nope when you fight the spider boss you need to go through a eye door when you get the ice missiles they do more damage then the charge beem it is a one hit ko to to the eye doors
song creater Wrong. The guardian doors (monster that opens its eye) is not a boss.
I didn't say it was a boss
Oh man i loved this game so much, my grandma bought me a GBA along with this game, i unlocked all secrets with the help of nintendo guide magazines. What a time to be alive.
To me, Metroid 4/Fusion was one of the last OG Metroid games that had heart pumping Boss fights.

When I fought Serris and Yakuza, I couldn't help but rave when I heard their boss themes
they're so good
Who’s hear after seeing the reveal for Metroid dread
after seeing that corpius fight (and mercury steams amazing cinematics) I hope the new bosses will be as epic as fusion’s

For me I hope the bosses are a bit better at spacing out instead of most of them being jammed near the end of the remake of Metroid: Samus Returns.
@@jacobfoxall5633 i hope so too
hahaha you took damage against the omega!
lol jk.
Seriously though, nice job. Especially with nightmare and neo ridley, that was cool to watch.
not realy because the core x healed her
I was just poking fun at the fact that the Omega Metroid will always hit you at that point because it's a scripted event. The fight doesn't continue until it hits you the first time. So, in my opinion that hit doesn't count against a "no damage" run.
@@alexbridden1594 Lemme slash.
thanks for the nostalgia trip. I forgot how much I hated/was frustrated by all the bosses while still loving the game and getting the feeling of triumph when I finally beat them
Ridley looks like somebody just took something from his hands and he tried to get it back by grasping at the air
