FrayedLogic I don't think the bombs are set by Samus most of the time. I think Mother Brain sets the ones that activate after her death, but the others, I'm not sure of.

In the ones I just said no innocents die except for the friendly animals in Super Metroid (but it's canon you save them since they're in Fusion) or if you count the other animals but they aren't intelligent and attack Samus and the ones in Fusion would've been food for the X.
Am I the only one who likes Ridley's screeching in Fusion and Zero Mission? It's unique and identifiable. Plus, I think it suits his design than just a regular high shrilled roar
Yeah, paired with his two seconds cut-scene where he lunges at you, it sounds really intimidating. And it's the only boss that gives you challenge in Zero Mission. He was also hard in Fusion until I realized the charged beam does more damage than rockets.

That or they have a clone things going on where the Space Pirates put the memories of the previous Ridley into the new one. Other M gave us a lifespan of Ridley. I didn't think it him when I saw that cotton ball of odd adorableness. But, its second form pretty much screamed Ridley. And, unlike the hyper intelligent Ridley who killed Samus' parents, it was completely savage. Kinda glad he met with the fate he did. Imagine if he did escape and the Space Pirates found him. A whole new Ridley, young and fresh for battle with all of the old Ridley's memories. That would honestly be terrifying.
@@atomicreactor6033 that's one way of looking at Ridley's reappearances, but in the Manga which is a Canon backstory to Zero Mission (I think), the manga explains that Ridley can regenerate his flesh over time, kinda like a lizard. His first death (actually being left near death) was the true Ridley, the in between games from prime 1-3 is Meta Ridley which is also the original Ridley, but he's been cybernetically enhanced, but over the course of the primes, he's less and less cybernetic until Samus Returns where he's more flesh than metal, hence his name becoming Proteus Ridley. In Super Metroid, he's fully recovered and is no longer enhanced causing him to revert back to Ridley. In Other M, Ridley is completely Dead, but is accidentally cloned by the Galactic Federation and was dubbed "Little Birdie". In Fusion, the BSL recovered the remains of Other M's Ridley which was later infected with the X Parasites and is later fought as Ridley X, or "Neo Ridley".
I love that you not only did the bosses but did them with a touch of flair! You actually used the diagonal shots and there were some cool dodges here and there. You played the game like it was meant to be played but very skillfully.

Those diagonal shots in Super saved my ass so many times, same goes for the underrated and underused Space walk, which is just moonwalking but it really helps when enemies are running toward you and you can just back up and shoot while even holding diagonally up or down. :P Or the fact that not many people remember that Samus can Shine Spark when you charge up her super running speed, then quickly hold down to crouch and "store" the energy (it only lasts a few seconds so you gotta be quick) and then jump in the air to do her upwards charge, you can also do a forward charge in midair if you jump and hold left or right when activating the Shine Spark technique. Samus also can wall jump and thats a tricky skill to master, and the game hints at you being able to do it with those green gremlin looking bastards in Super Metroid.
@@lukelafontaine69 lol, the wall jumps can't be done during Shine Spark, but I do remember Snakelancer showcasing a complete reworking of Super's mechanics in 60fps, pushing objects and many others including wall jumping to reverse Shine Spark directions, as well as many effects from Zero Mission like Shine Sparking into slopes to go back to running and not having to push in the flight direction to just glide over the slopes.

You can make your argument for many of the very good oldschool games perhaps like maybe Donkey Kong (1981), original Super Mario Bros, arcade Mario Bros, original Sonic The Hedgehog (where there are unintentional glitches that can make speedrunning much easier), Pac-Man, original Red/Blue Pocket Monsters (has unintentional problems in its internal gaming system but is still a very good game), the original Legend of Zelda but they all still aged well in my opinion. I went on my DS the other day and actually managed to do Mother Brain without taking damage. I don't know how and I highly doubt I'll be able to do it again, but holy crap was I on point with the dodging. 4:57
Back when I was a kid playing this game I never knew you could spam rockets on Kraid. So I would jump and hit Kraid with 1 rocket at a time. Took me a few tries. When I went back to play this game recently and discovered that you could stand near the edge and spray your rockets, my mind was blown. It makes every boss trivial.
This is a pretty cool game. The main thing I didn't like about it was how the game won't spend that much time with Zero Suit Samus. I kinda liked the idea of having the player lose all their powers so they have to keep safe until they find them again.
Its been a long time playing this. Wow she really was there when she was a kid...fate can be interesting... I can now understand how satisfying it must be to get that new suit honestly, esp since its a suit for 'the chosen/worthy' ones so its like a rebirthing process for Samus
You should try getting no damage against Mecha Ridley when you've collected 100% items. The fight is much harder and longer because of an increase in boss health.
He also actively guards his weak spot, often times by raising his claw a bit and leaving his head down longer or leaving you with such a small gap that there is little room for accuracy issues
Nice video mate! Did you know that Mecha Ridley gets tougher (takes more hits to kill) of you collect all of the power ups? It doesn't really matter too much though as the routine stays the same (claw swipe, fire balls, lasers, and missiles).
I remember when Metroid Zero Mission was the only game I'd play on my GBA SP, and you actually do not have to worry about taking Damage after defeating a boss during the death animations, for example as soon as Imago's Stinger tears off, he can no longer hurt you

I love metroid fusion more cause its like doom, where your suit or weapon gets upgraded, I'm kinda upset that you don't get any power ups after you killed a boss :/ btw nice job no damage
oh boy. I remember I spent like 2 years playing this game when I was 10-12 years old. This was my favorite game along with Metroid Fuzion back then. Still couldn't beat either of them though cause some of the levels scared me too much.
Just played through this game for the first time a few days ago... Kraid gave me sooooo much trouble, if only I had known you could aggressively spam missiles like that to trivialize him. That would have spared me from some grey hairs.
I know I'm late to the party, but can I point out how fucking brilliant it is that the sound of Mecha Ridley's eye blinking sets the rhythm for the escape theme? Also, how the Space Pirate ship that Samus borrows at the end is resemblant (in shape) of her Metroid Prime 1 & 2 ship? The details put into this game are astounding.

When Mercury Steam approached Yoshio Sakamoto (Metroid series creator) and Nintendo about making a remake of a 2D Metroid title, they originally asked to remake Metroid Fusion. While Fusion is apparently Sakamoto's favorite title in the series, it's very clear that Metroid II was in the most dire need of a remake and as such the plan was shifted to that. So maybe it was a nod toward the original plan. Maybe it was a teaser for the next remake. We'll never really know until it happens.

Back when I first played this game, and when Mecha Ridley's Self-Destruct was counting down, I thought... Well, I can't remember exactly what I thought, BUT, it was something like this: "Aww, sh**! And they destroyed my ship earlier, so how how the heck am I gonna get outta here?!" "Wait a second... The Hangar!"
I remember This game as a kid i played it so many times and played normal and hard mode and got 96% of items. Also beating bosses with items you couldnt get like the boss in kaird or something like that, i had super missels at that time and the vaira suit. I beat the game without change beam, wave beam and tried it without ice and screwattack and its kind of impossible because you need ice to frezze the metroids and screwattack to break that wall when you get the full power suit
There are many upgrades you can skip in this game, including long beam, charge beam, maybe wave beam, high jump, accelerator... There's even a special picture at the end of the game if you can beat it with less than 15% items, which makes you chose between super missiles, high jump or more health, stuff like that. I remember when I had to beat Mother Brain on hard, with 5 missiles + 1 super, one health bar and a half, and no speed boost, so I had to bomb jump my way to the ship. I got insanely lucky and I won't be doing this again, but the gallery is worth it.

Mecha Ridley wasn't done at his hardest setting. You need to collect every item to fight him with every attack pattern, triple attack, and triple, hp.

I love metroid fusion more cause its like doom, where your suit or weapon gets upgraded, I'm kinda upset that you don't get any power ups after you killed a boss :/ btw nice job no damage

oh boy. I remember I spent like 2 years playing this game when I was 10-12 years old. This was my favorite game along with Metroid Fuzion back then. Still couldn't beat either of them though cause some of the levels scared me too much.

Just played through this game for the first time a few days ago... Kraid gave me sooooo much trouble, if only I had known you could aggressively spam missiles like that to trivialize him. That would have spared me from some grey hairs.

I know I'm late to the party, but can I point out how fucking brilliant it is that the sound of Mecha Ridley's eye blinking sets the rhythm for the escape theme? Also, how the Space Pirate ship that Samus borrows at the end is resemblant (in shape) of her Metroid Prime 1 & 2 ship? The details put into this game are astounding.
My second favorite throughout the whole series :D

When Mercury Steam approached Yoshio Sakamoto (Metroid series creator) and Nintendo about making a remake of a 2D Metroid title, they originally asked to remake Metroid Fusion. While Fusion is apparently Sakamoto's favorite title in the series, it's very clear that Metroid II was in the most dire need of a remake and as such the plan was shifted to that.
So maybe it was a nod toward the original plan. Maybe it was a teaser for the next remake. We'll never really know until it happens.
Closest thing we got to Ridley as a final boss until Samus Returns.

Also it does look amazing, came out just before the DS and they really knew how to use the GBA soundchip and not make games look terrible for OG GBA screen support.

Back when I first played this game, and when Mecha Ridley's Self-Destruct was counting down, I thought... Well, I can't remember exactly what I thought, BUT, it was something like this:

Finished the game on my first run recently with 100% and I barely needed to watch playthroughs. I've never been so proud with myself :')
If you look closely, you can see the drawing that Samus did as a child on the wall during the Chozo Ghost battle
I remember This game as a kid i played it so many times and played normal and hard mode and got 96% of items. Also beating bosses with items you couldnt get like the boss in kaird or something like that, i had super missels at that time and the vaira suit. I beat the game without change beam, wave beam and tried it without ice and screwattack and its kind of impossible because you need ice to frezze the metroids and screwattack to break that wall when you get the full power suit

There are many upgrades you can skip in this game, including long beam, charge beam, maybe wave beam, high jump, accelerator...
There's even a special picture at the end of the game if you can beat it with less than 15% items, which makes you chose between super missiles, high jump or more health, stuff like that.
I remember when I had to beat Mother Brain on hard, with 5 missiles + 1 super, one health bar and a half, and no speed boost, so I had to bomb jump my way to the ship. I got insanely lucky and I won't be doing this again, but the gallery is worth it.

The Mecha-Ridley is too easy for a final boss fight, even Mother Brain is harder.

Mettallux I won't say that on hard mode. If you get hit by his claw, you take severe damage. 3-4 hits is lethal in hard mode.
