Range Rover Evoque Fuel Filter Replacement / Change - Restricted Performance Warning Light [HOW TO]

- On the way home from work driving the Range Rover Evoque, the Restricted Performance warning light decided to make an appearance. Using the Autel MaxiLink ML619 OBD2 Scanner, was given the code P$008707E8 (P0087). The code P0087 is low fuel pressure at the fuel pressure sensor. Generally replacing the fuel filter if overdue will resolve this error and this evoque fuel filter is overdue. This error was given once on the 2015 Mini Cooper D last summer and changing the inline fuel filter resolved it.
In this video we carry out a fuel filter replacement on the Range Rover Evoque 2.2 2013 SD4. Hopefully this how to replace your fuel filter tutorial will help if you are experiencing this issue when driving your Range Rover Evoque at over 4k RPM or possible help if you are about to carry out the task of replacing the fuel filter on your Range Rover Evoque.
The range rover evoque restricted performance yellow triangle can sometimes be hard to determine what is at fault. Highly recommend a scanner tool so identify what is causing the restricted performance light, the Autel ML619 scanner is what i use (it was cheap) many others out there.

I did complete the job on our ED4 from 2013 using the hand fuel transfer pump (black squeeze bulb, one direction flow) to prime new filter. You can pick those up in local auto parts shop for 10-12 euro. Thing is that I did not manage to pump out more than 25ml of diesel despite pushing diesel at the same time through the fuel cap using inflatable mattress pump. So I gave up and tried to crank and to my surprise it worked as usual, steady on idle for 15 min. Then shut engine off, crank again - took a bit longer but steady on. Few more times , then took for a ride, did some aggressive acceleration and got no feared P0087 Low Fuel Pressure Error :))) Thanks for this video, it give us DIYers a confidence!

My car has the hand pump thing like the ones use for blood pressure . Do i still need vacuum pump?

The kit i used is on Amazon still - amzn.to/3af9BhR used this for testing carbs after rebuild, also the EGR cooler on a Mini Cooper, good tool.

Just done mine today following this and bloomin didnt push the outward fuel connector on all the way, if it wasn’t primed before it sure was now, diesel everywhere! Hopefully dries off, thanks for this guide 🙏

hi, I had a problem in my evoque, I changed the diesel filter and I still have air bubbles that appear in my circuit, even if I ride with my evoque sometimes it starts easy,

Not great on the starter or your battery, but if only a small air lock it could work - did it work for you ?

Afraid that could be one of many things - get the ecu scanned for codes or buy a reader - when I was getting this error i got the code stating turbo actuator was faulty - had it rebuilt (guy on eBay did it cheap) years ago and fine since
Sometimes it takes a few seconds for it to start.
Was a good 1-2min cranking time i total 🤔 seemed to be an air issue
