The thing about bike meets is it gives you somewhere to go. Also helps you become part of the community and find friends to ride with if that's your thing. I go to about 3 a week, charity runs and memorial runs just to talk bikes. But they are all very boring and I usually want to leave the minute I get there but I stick it out for about 30 mins and I have to leave. I'm a bit of an introvert and am trying to be more friendly 😂 I totally get where you are coming from but you should go as they are a great bunch.
Yes the more I think about it the more I enjoyed it. I think I need to immerse myself in it and talk to people. As it happened, on Monday I spent all the time getting footage rather than 'doing' the bike meet. I shall go again. I am with you on that, I used to go to car meets all the time when I was younger and chat to anyone. But now (Since having a kid!) I just crave peace and quiet 🤣 and I'm less of a people-person. I will try a group ride sometime 👍
I reckon you have got an ideal bike for the IOW roads, bigish high torque engine, nice relaxed upright riding position without all the high rev drama of a sport bikes cramped leg position. I passed my mod 2 on 20th June and have just completed 1700 miles on My HD Heritage Classic and so much enjoying myself. I am lucky because where I live in Norfolk I can go to bikes meets every night of the week traveling 7-50 miles each way at the most. It is really surprising once you start chatting to other bikers how many friends you will make at these Bike meets. Have Fun Tommy🙂
I agree, there is little opportunity to gun it, so a nice upright riding position is perfect for sightseeing! You are lucky to have all of those around you. I'm hoping to get to some others on the south coast next year. Your bike sounds nice, enjoy it!
Looks like a good bike night Tommy, etiqutte for bike nights is usually, park up, get a beverage, talk bikes, have some grub, talk bikes, ride home )) I dont know if its just me and this is by no means criticism, but you seem to be riding the triumph much smoother and confidently than the 125, perhaps the heavier bike suits you more ))
Good to know Mark, next time I'll film less and grab a coffee and a burger! I appreicate you saying so, that will be the bike, not me! It is much easier, and nicer to ride.
Great stuff Tommy, you can't beat a decent bike meet. Indeed one of the best in the UK is just a ship and trip away from you at Poole Quay on a summer Tuesday evening. Every summer there is a one-off meet at Cassington near Oxford. I went this year and would guess in excess of 5,000 bikes there! What an evening it was. I ride to Poole 2 or 3 times a season as I love the atmosphere there. It's a 350 mile round trip for me but well worth it.
Yes the more I think about it the more I enjoyed it. I think I need to immerse myself in it and talk to people. As it happened, on Monday I spent all the time getting footgae rather than 'doing' the bike meet. I shall go again. Poole does sound interesting and as you say not far from here!
