He is unique, his music from the start has always been a little different. I love Going Home probably my favourite bit of music ever!i have it on vinyl & CD too, also on UA-cam which can still sound pretty good. Its my favourite bit of music.

An understatement, the more I see him on UA-cam th more he just blows me away. H is just sublime, & this piece of music he alters to suit circumstances, one of the most gorgeous music I have heard.

Like others have commented, I to have been absolutely hooked on Mark Knopfler from the very start when Dire Straits hit the scene in the late 70s. Not only is his guitar playing the very best (to me anyway), the music and his lyrics paint pictures and stories like no other musician and composer. Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet, Telegraph Road, all are just musical perfection. I recently went on a musical pilgrimage to see Cullercoats, Whitley Bay and the Spanish City, as in the lyrics of Tunnel of Love and where Mark would visit in his youth.

@@cristianconstantinescu7264 Sure, it is true in his case but there's a clear difference even in his playing between an LP and a Strat.
@@diffbreak2366 indeed there is, I have seen him play this on a strat many times, this is the first time I have seen him play it on a LP and he plays it very different, just shows how he is at one with the guitar he is playing, to actually connect differently to each guitar. He was best known for his strat playing back in Dire Straits, but nowadays he almost exclusively plays his LP, and with that gorgeous 1959, why wouldn’t he
@@andrewpowell3398 I guess, with the Strat he was driving in the fast lane, ahead of everyone, while with the LP he's driving in the middle lane, with nothing left to prove, enjoying the drive for his own pleasure! He's clearly fitting into the description of a zen master...

When you look at aged idols, do you yourself believe in your old age?
Hate to be abruptly cynical, but Mark Knopfler hasn't had to worry about earning money in a very, VERY long time.
Don't get me wrong--Dire Straits got me into loving music when I was a Kindergarten-age kid. But, old age is real, and it's awful. Some people can shrug a little bit of it off because they don't have to waste their lives chasing after trivial amounts of money, that's all.
This should come with a Dermot warning.

Nothing against the song mills but this is music that was WRITTEN a bit more organic. Just like this stuff better it has a soul.
