You Ain't Goin' Nowhere - B Bender Solo & Breakdown
When the Byrds released You aint going nowhere, it was an instant classic
Based off a Bob Dylan song, the songs differ which I have put a more detailed explanation about in the very bottom of this description
The classic Country / Rock album Sweethearts of the Rodeo produced many great wonders, such as Pretty Boy Floyd, I am a Pilgrim, Christian Life & most popular, You Ain’t Going Nowhere
The Byrd's outraged Nashville Country Organisations as they had been associated with their Pysychdelic era and almost became part of a new age hybrid of Rock/Country music
The recorded song that you can find on spotify, which some refer to as the studio version is performed on a steel pedal guitar.
The version covered by Earl Scruggs & one of the old youtube videos features
Here is one of the only video links where Clarence White is featured playing:
ua-cam.com/video/Q21BF38W3Gs/v-deo.html&pp=ygUWeW91IGFpbnQgZ29pbmcgbm93aGVyZQ%3D%3D
A version that appeared thanks to a documentary filmaker named David Hoffman features multiple angles of Clarence White playing, this is some of the only footage on the internet featuring this virtuoso
David doesnt acknowledge Clarence Whites playing as there is an interesting back story to the footage, people in the comments start talking about how suprised they are to see this footage as Clarence White was quite humble in nature and underground to some extent, almost like George Harrison:
ua-cam.com/video/sTHK-97Y53Y/v-deo.html&pp=ygUWeW91IGFpbnQgZ29pbmcgbm93aGVyZQ%3D%3D
Why is Clarence White important?
Apart from being one of the most respected flatpickers(i dont know what that means) he partnered with a musician and engineer at the time called Gene Parsons
Clarence had this way of bending the B string above the nut but it wasnt a very efficient or easy way to play.
The two of them Gene and Clarence came together and invented the B-Bender, at the time it was called the Parsons White Bender, Clarence White & Gene Parsons... duh
So rather than being someone who created a really nice way to play the guitar in this country twang style, he also invented the tool to do it
I learned how to play this after getting my hands on a cheap modification by Beegee Bender, who sells some of the cheapest custom B-Bender guitars on the internet. He has a custom design which allows for a bend limit.
I would strongly reccommend speaking to him and purchasing off him here: beegee.bender.7/
Thankyou to the Bender Bunker for the best B-Bender Tutorials:

Dylan vs Byrds Lyrics Comparison provided by ChatGPT:
The first set of lyrics is from Dylan's original version, and the second set of lyrics is from The Byrds' cover of the song. Here are the key differences between the two versions:
Bob Dylan's Original Version:
"Gonna see a movie called Gunga Din" (Dylan's version includes a reference to the movie "Gunga Din.")
"Pack up your money, pull up your tent, McGuinn" (This line references Roger McGuinn, the leader of The Byrds, who later covered the song.)
The Byrds' Cover Version:
"Gate won't close, railing's froze" (Different phrasing in this line.)
"I don't care how many letters they sent" (This line is unique to The Byrds' version.)
"Buy me a flute and a gun that shoots, Tailgates and substitutes, Strap yourself to a tree with roots" (This part features additional lyrics not found in Dylan's original.)
"Now Genghis Khan, he could not keep all his kings supplied with sleep" (This line is also unique to The Byrds' version.)
Both versions share the core of the song but feature some variations in lyrics, including additional verses in The Byrds' cover. The Byrds' version is more well-known and has slightly different phrasing and additional content compared to Dylan's original.

he literally talks the exact same as Tom, if there was no video I would think Tom Petty was talking.

Wondering if he influenced all the guitar sounds from the 90's and 2000's. For example Blink 182 and and others from that era were all using the A mute D play G sound. I mean I never heard it before him.

LOL...the way Mike described how they rescued the analog tape with the glue !!!! 😂 Those of us who lived through the 80s mastered problem solving stuff like this. Rewinding a cassette with a pencil....using tiny pieces of tape to join a broken cassette tape....carefully unraveling cassette tape from the tape player... The generations after us will never understand or appreciate what that was like. 😅

I saw Mike Campbell play live a few times when he toured with Fleetwood Mac. I was fortunate to be backstage for these shows. Let me tell you, his playing live is transcendent. I've seen all the great classic guitarists in concert (except for Hendrix). Whatever that very top tier is, Mike is in it. We did a Rock & Roll Royalty show where we reviewed the top 5 rock guitarists of all time and he was very much in the conversation You can see it here if interested: ua-cam.com/video/qk6WjiUz6-4/v-deo.html

My guitarist top 5 is way off the mark from anything you’d see on VH1 or Rolling Stone, but this man Sir Mike Campbell has been on it since the day I started the list., in the company of other such fellas as Richard Thomp bc on, Lindsey Buckingham, Mississippi John Hurt, Bob Stinson, and… the 4th and 5th seats are ever changing, but in this moment let’s go with Prince. 😊🤘🏿

Dude, I'd be in heaven sitting in that room with all those sick guitars. This video is cool to show the art of building a stinged instrumentation with electric guitars. Special well-built guitars, as a player, are spiritual. Hard to explain. Money can't replace the guitar.
