How he improvises the solo, almost every time he plays the song, is a sign of a magician. Familiar song but still somehow different every single time. Only a musical genious can create something like that.
The build up between the sax & mark.k with the crowds clapping in the air just give the chills man... what an awesome feeling it was if we were to be there.

The Dire Straits channel has released some very old versions of Sultans recently, and that may be pushing traffic to yours. One was the original quartet, and a version very close to the original studio recording, albeit missing one verse. I’ve been binging on Sultans, so here I am. Great live version, deserving of the 1M views you’ve gotten.

"Sultans of Swing" is still among the all-time coolest songs ever! But what makes Dire Straits (and Mark Knopfler, especially), stand out is how they find such uniquely talented other musicians (in addition to their regular drummer) for, like, saxophone and piano. Regardless of who is among Dire Straits as a regular or "just tonight" as a guest during THIS performance, they always produce a sound that, to me, is just overwhelming. Still way high among my all-time favorites!!!

Some people say they were an underrated band, not to music lovers. DS were a fantastic group and Mark is an incredible guitarist.
Absolutely incredible! Don't think he ever plays this the same way twice. Every version is a different solo master piece! Incredible!!!!
Mark is completely in charge of that instrument at all times. It's inspiring to watch. I feel honored for having been allowed to witness this.

He has an unusual but incredible technique. My favorite, no pick just the thumb, index and middle fingers and what a joy to listen to him do it. AMAZING

and the fantastic interplay with the sax is amazing!
Here's the thing, though: the guitar track on this tends to follow on close lines each time he plays it, subject to a bit of improvisation, but the sax player is interacting the call & response based on his feel of where to go with it. Knopfler's brilliant on this (as ever) but the sax player's phenomenal.
Really good to hear that good music is a very useful thing the gartarist Mark is wonderful nothing has been done to sound track never have I ever heard such talent. Hope this group finds a way to stay together

I love the interaction on this song between Knopfler and Chris White. Its like a guitar / sax duel. The expressions on knopflers face is like he is trying to catch out White. Love this one. Fantastic musicians. I remember going to this concert when it came to Gateshead, UK. Its still to this day, one of the best concerts I have been to.

Just imagine this incredible performance is from year 1992 and that was the time there was no phone or camera... Even the crowd watching them live got recorder just 1% of them... They were witnessing the true masterpiece live which is saved in their memories... They will never forget it... We missed that era born too late... It's just like a travelling solo with no phone camera no internet but with peace of nature.... I wrote that much but still missing some words... Totally speechless 🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘😘

Guitar work flawless, piano,drummer,sax etc flawless. The way the band comes together at the end is exceptional. First saw this on tv about 18 years ago and thanks to utube I'm able to enjoy over and over again

this is their best ever final playing at the end... they are truly good rock and roll band... i was in love with DS when I was like 17. Then,later, I found a different music, but the times with DS I will never forget... ;)

La migliore performance live dei Dire Straits e forse una delle migliori nel panorama musicale mondiale. 9 artisti sul palco e un Mark Knopfler nella grazia di DIO. Ebbi modo di vederli all'arena di Verona e conservo un ricordo meraviglioso. Oggi non ci sono più band di questo livello e la cosa che fa meraviglia è che nonostante l'età senile, l'artrite alle dita, la sciatalgia alla schiena, quando ancora si muovono questi mostri sacri, i palazzetti si riempiono di fan di tutte le generazioni, dai vecchietti come me ai bambini di 8 anni. Tutti disposti a perdonare qualche stecca, qualche passaggio a vuoto ma felici di vederli ancora una volta. Vale per Mark, per David Gilmour e per tutti colori che ci hanno fatto compagnia nella vita. Grazie Mark per tutto quello che ci hai donato.

Kiedyś słucham Dire Stratis,nie tak znów dawno w Warszawie i głos słyszę z nieba:Cztery.Wiec przy takim odezwie i takim rytmie nie było Się co oszczędzać.Zaliczylem cztery kwestie i to jeszcze z czarna popitka,nóżka chodziła od razu u niepełnosprawnego po przejsciach inaczej(kłopoty z pamięcią...była jeszcze jedna kwestia ta naturalnie w pełnym wymiarze klasztorna i jaka czysta...)klasztorna to naturalnie Warszawska "siwucha ",procentowo szlachetna jak miód.Nie mylic z klasztornymi mniszkami-albertynkami,które są szlachetnego tego trunku zaprzeczeniem.

I always liked this song but in concert the sound of the piano is more complete in the company of the saxon and the guitar is magnificent when you close your eyes it is as if you were present live at that concert.... good video
