I've heard a few different versions of Prince's potential involvement. I think the Michael Jackson beef has been debunked, but that it was more about Quincy's feeling that Prince wanted to make the song his own, that it seemed like his involvement was going to turn this into a "Prince" thing instead of the community effort that it ended up becoming. Not sure how true that is but I actually believe that version more. Prince was a singular artist, his creative vision meant he needed a lot of control over the finished product. And that went against the spirit of what made this song so perfect and impactful.
@bighousegroove you're correct, it was Quincy's final decision. That's why he put up the Check your ego sign afterwards. He wanted Prince to be a part of it, but had to think of the big picture

Beautiful song too bad we just don't learn. The me, me, world we live in, unfortunately I don't think it will ever change. Sorry to be such a downer during such a hopeful video. But after living without long lasting change for 70 years I am saddened to be so pessimistic. But that is when I tell myself we have to continue to try our hardest to make a difference. We can't give up or give in. Bless you both. Peace✌🙏
And the version from "Smoke on the Water" from Armenia on 1989, with David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Richie Blackmore and musicians from Yes, Iron Maiden and Queen!!! AWESOME!!!

I volonteer for a rally that was put out on many city to raise monney at that time for africa, and I listened to that song for hours... (couldn't hear it at some point) but such a cool project.
Hello, Andei & Dominika They also have a Spanish version called “Cantare, Cantaras” with Latin American singers/artist. Like Vicente Fernandez, Jose Jose, Amanda Miguel and her late husband Diego Verdaguer. And much more. The one unfortunately missing is Juan Gabriel!! Maybe you might want to check it out. I love watching your reactions! I repeat and repeat the videos. Specially Juan Gabriel’s🥰
Whoever it composed ?? Hu ? It’s been written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and the production was done by Quincy Jones. I would say that everyone knows who had written it.
That was 40 years ago so many, many of those artists are gone, sadly but the www has everyone's back. I bet Back & Bethoven's & Bach's day, wish hey could listen to their music as easily as we do now. I guess the Wright Brothers made people feel they were lucky living their time. Sorry, little off topic.
The world has changed since this came out. Widespread famine doesn't exist like it once did. Only in places where aid is blocked, are people dying of starvation. Charitable efforts like this grew in to national efforts and aid is just in the budgets of governments now, unlike it was then.
You should try to watch a man with thousand voices. He is André Philippe gagnon as he imitate multiples voices in this song, Lionel Richie saw him and was shocked.
There are lots of musicians all around the world that has done the similar thing. I don't know much about it, actually, but from my understanding it was some kind of live performances that were held to raise money for the children of Africa. It spread and became much bigger then they expected, again if I understood it well. Anyway, 1985 was the year when it all happened, when I was born and when we were still living in big Yugoslavia. And Yugoslavian (mostly) rock stars also recorded very similar song and if you wish to see/hear it, I'll put the link in the end of this comment. It has lyrics, so you can even understand it. And I love both songs, but the Yugoslavian one is much more nostalgic to me and brings me a lot of sadness, because they were all together (we were all together) singing a song of love for children, so united, and they were all big names. Many of them I listened and loved when I was a child... but only several years later it all became a horrible war and hatred, everyone separated and suddenly it felt like we had never been brothers and sisters, the same nation... no, it became only endless hatred. Even today, after 30 years, still some people feel that hatred. And it is so sad to me. I personally adore Croatia, for example, especially "the most problematic" part of it - Dalmatia, but I know both Serbians and Croatians who still hate each others. And it truly makes me sad. Sorry for the long message and being out of context, but this song really reminded me of it all. Here is ours (Yu song) if you wish to hear it (or if anyone else wishes). I don't think anyone would ask you to react to it, so I guess you can freely watch it only for yourselves. I even don't know if you have more followers from ex-Yu countries apart from me. Probably some, but still, I don't think anyone will ever ask you to react to it, so don't worry about that. ua-cam.com/video/jGjsN-PSzUo/v-deo.html

I know I’m 10 months late and I don’t know if you checked back and look at new comments on old videos, but if you ever run out of music to react to, you could take the list of artists in this compilation, and that would keep you busy for quite some time to come!😊
There's a song called "The Power Of Love", performed by the Who's Who of Dutch metal: Floor, Anneke van Giersbergen, Simone Simons, Dianne van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio, Charlotte Wessels, Arjen Lucassen, Mark Jansen etc. Warmly recommended! "THE POWER OF LOVE | DUTCH METAL FOR SERIOUS REQUEST 2014" - Cheers!
Lovely reaction folks. But, I’ve seen a lot of reactions to this and the youngstas really don’t know. Most pick out MJ and a couple of them if they reacted to an artist. Most don’t know. I remember being in my friend’s car blasting this on the radio and trying to identify them by their voice. I’m grateful for reaction videos and those that play older songs. It’s keeping the older music alive even if the artist is gone. That being said, I’d like to request an artist and song that can’t be sung by them anymore. The duo Carpenters and the song is Rainy Days and Mondays. I think you two would know of them but a search yielded no hits. So let’s go down that rabbit hole. ua-cam.com/video/PjFoQxjgbrs/v-deo.html

Peace✌🙏
Bruce Springsteen ALWAYS gives me chills….He understood the assignment👍
And the version from "Smoke on the Water" from Armenia on 1989, with David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Richie Blackmore and musicians from Yes, Iron Maiden and Queen!!! AWESOME!!!
Fantastic song ❤
Dominica I feel you, I make the same observation, how come the situation is stile the same (even worst!) but hey what a memory line... I volonteer for a rally that was put out on many city to raise monney at that time for africa, and I listened to that song for hours... (couldn't hear it at some point) but such a cool project.
Hello, Andei & Dominika
They also have a Spanish version called “Cantare, Cantaras” with Latin American singers/artist.
They record this in Kenny Rogers Studios, so he put a sign in the door that says "Left your egos outside"
Whoever it composed ?? Hu ? It’s been written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and the production was done by Quincy Jones. I would say that everyone knows who had written it.
Very nice❤love it
The contemporaneous "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid was the British version, and is very good as well 🙂👍
That was 40 years ago so many, many of those artists are gone, sadly but the www has everyone's back. I bet Back & Bethoven's & Bach's day, wish hey could listen to their music as easily as we do now. I guess the Wright Brothers made people feel they were lucky living their time. Sorry, little off topic.
Só lendas da música neste vídeo incrível
❤❤
Such a great song, and Whitney Houston was there and didn’t have a solo
Please provide a PO Box for gifts…😀
The world has changed since this came out. Widespread famine doesn't exist like it once did. Only in places where aid is blocked, are people dying of starvation. Charitable efforts like this grew in to national efforts and aid is just in the budgets of governments now, unlike it was then.
You should try to watch a man with thousand voices. He is André Philippe gagnon as he imitate multiples voices in this song, Lionel Richie saw him and was shocked.
Greed, Power, Religion-keeps the world divided and wars and suffering continue

When mankind desire for the world was unity and love. I don't know what happened meanwile. Got to listen the english version, the first one from Bob Geldof. Band Aid, 1984.

Hair bands did a song as well in the80s
hello everyone
Dio do the heavy metal version "Stars" on 1986
Your absolutely right there NEVER should be one child hungry in this world put it in perspective one billionaire could feed the world . They have to be doing it on purpose yes I said it but no one wants to believe that… God save the children.😢🙏🏼
There is a documentary about making this video on Netflix. It is very good. Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote the spng.
We have these issues still because of the politics of greed.
Quincy Jones put a sign in the recording room door: Leave your ego here before you enter.
Hay una versión pero latina es hermosa también
Our world has lost its way in dramatic fashion. This type of event can never happen again because not enough "stars" give a shit and there are no MUSIC LEGENDS AROUND TO TAKE THE BATON IN TODAY'S INDUSTRY. Sad to see and hear.
You need to react to USA for Haiti We are the world 25. It was done to help Haiti recover from a devastating earthquake.
Now maybe do Hear n Aid Stars.
You should listen to his Earth song Michael Jackson
El humano puede ser lo más hermoso como lo más horroroso depende de cada uno de nosotros
u should react to hear n aid - stars its the "we are the world" of metal, reunion that was made by Dio!!!
Room of Goats 😢 man I’m old 😢
Please play Mungo Jerry in the summertime
(Did you give up on Pentatonix?)
Certainly not! We still have their songs on our list, but need to respond to requested songs first! Thanks for watching 💚
