“Sherry" was the band's first nationally released single and their first number one hit, reaching the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on September 15, 1962. It remained at number one for five consecutive weeks, and number one on the R&B charts for one week. “Sherry" became the first single by The Four Seasons to go to number one on the R&B charts.
Other songs by The Four Seasons, Walk Like A Man, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Rag Doll and Dawn.
The lead singer was Frankie Vallie, who has one of the great falsetto voices ever. Listen to home sing, with The Four Seasons the song, Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.

HERE'S A HISTORY LESSON; WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON' T KNOW, IS THE FOUR SEASONS RECORDED THIS SONG WITH A BLACK-OWNED RECORD COMPANY. THE COMPANY NAME WAS VEE JAY RECORDS.VEE-JAY WAS STARTED BEFORE MOTOWN IN THE EARLY 50'S. THIS COMPANY HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON EARLY R&B AND ROCK& ROLL. VEE-JAY IS RARELY MENTIONED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF BLUES, R&B, AND ROCK & ROLL. ITS SAD THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA CHOOSES TO IGNORE THIS COMPANY. THE BEATLES RECORDED FOR VEEJAY BEFORE HITTING BIG.

They correct way to state it would be, Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio recorded this song in New York doing the writing and producing and Vee Jay released it. They had nothing to do with it's production in any way.

Frankie Valli and his Jersey Boys! The Four Season pre dated The Beatles and were a hit machine in the 1960's. This is one of my favorites of their early success. They made a strong comeback in the 1970's. Frankie's falsetto was often imitaded. Lou Christie was one of the more popular singers who did this. I grew up around the corner from where Frankie was from in Newark, NJ. Passaic is right down the road where I grew up!

True story here: my Dad took my Mom, when they were just dating to see this band. Afterwards, when the show was over, Mom got to meet Franki, (as they're both Italians and my Mom was speaking with him in the language), and my Daddy got so jealous! But it was a good thing as it made him realize he'd better marry this gorgeous dark beauty fast. And he did!

The lead singer is none other than Frankie Valli. The 4 Seasons had dozens and dozens of hits in the 1960's and 70's and Frankie also had a very successful solo career. Frankie is the guy who showed that you didn't have to leave your group behind to have a solo career. He did both at the same time.

Frankie Valli's was in two bands before The Four Season's. They had a ton of hits including "Candy Girl", "Dawn", "Rag Doll", "Bye Bye Baby", Opus 17", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Ronnie", "Let's Hang On" and "Walk Like A Man". Later they had hits as Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons with "Who Loves You", and December 1963 (Oh What A Night)". "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" and "Swearin' To God" were a solo hits for Frankie. I had the great pleasure in seeing The Four Seasons in 1963 or '64 at a Murray The K show here in Brooklyn, NY.

Franki Valli - one of the most amazing, distinctive and endearing voices of American music. A deep rabbit hole with this group from early '60's through mid-70's (and keep in mind there is no auto tune for the music of this era). Great lead singer, and superb harmonies with background singers. Other hits: Big girls don't cry, Rag Doll, Dawn, Walk like a man, Working my way back to you, Candy Girl, Marianne . and many more. The group dropped off a little in early 70's, and then re-emerged in popularity in 1975/76 with hits: Oh what a night (December 1963) and Who Loves You", and the singles by Franki Vali: My eyes adored you and Swearin to GOD. Fantastic group of my era - the 60's!!

I just picked up on your channel recently when I spotted your reaction to The Del Vikings and then The Marcels and now The Four Seasons - WOW!!! At first I thought how can they not Know of these great classic tunes already? and then I realised that they're all 60 plus years old and from long before you were born! Me I'm 74 yrs old and this is the music of my childhood. I have loved and collected music of every description on record all my life (over 10,000 LPs,15,000 45s and 78s and ,000s of CDs) but the Doo Wop/ R'n'R/R'n'B of the 1950s and 1960s will always hold a special place in my heart! I don't mind admitting that your great reaction to these "Oldies but Goodies" brings tears to my eyes, so keep it up guys and continue to show the kids of today what Great Music is all about! Frankie Valli was, I believe, was the inspiration for the Bee Gees style of singing in falsetto. He was the predecessor to the incomparable Barry Gibb, who is known for his amazing falsetto voice. Frankie was doing this long before the Bee Gees. Another iconic voice you can never forget and is usually easily recognizable. Loved your reaction to Frankie's first top end falsetto note on this song! Your minds were blown. We could all see it. Great reaction video again you two! LOVE IT!

I like the way you guys genuinely appreciate the building blocks of the early music. Here is a list of my favorite Doo-Wop songs.
    "Sh-Boom" - The Cords
"I Only Have Eyes for You"- The Flamingos
"Stay"- Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs
"Come Go With Me"- The Dell-Vikings
    "Blue Moon"- The Marcels
"Come Softly to Me"- The Fleetwoods
    "Gee"- The Crows
    "Speedo"- The Cadillacs
    "Get a Job"- The Silhouettes
"Crazy Little Momma"- The El Dorados
    "Ruby Baby"- The Drifters
"At the Hop"- Danny and the Juniors
"I Wonder Why"- Dion and the Belmonts
    "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight"- The Spaniels
These, for me, are some of the best songs ever made. From the 1950's and very early 1960's. Brilliant harmonies, emotion, and song craft. A solid foundation for everything that has come after these set the bar. Peace ✌️

They were the first rock band to have three straight #1’s out of the gate. Jersey Boys is about them, a must-see for any music lover.

Great lead from Frankie, classic amazing harmonies...
I remember in the 1960s, Frankie saying that they weren't so unusual if you hung out in an Italian neighborhood for a day. You'd see a few guys on a street corner about to cross the street, one would start singing and before you knew it there would be at least three others doing harmonies with him.
But I still think these dudes were pretty special in a good way.
