Frankie had three stages of a career. The original Four Seasons are in the Hall of Fame with songs like Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Rag Doll, and Dawn. Then he did solo stuff with hits like My Eyes Adored You and Can't Take My Eyes Off of You. To this day he tours as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with hits like December 1963 (Oh What a Night). Sheer talent and dedication to craft has led to almost thirty top 20 hits.
Thank you, because i don't know this songs, but now...)))
The four season didn’t really split as they keep writing songs for Frankie
I absolutely love y'all! Your reactions are the best! I loved it with Simply Red and now with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons! Keep it up y'all!
Four Seasons are from Newark NJ. He was able to make the high voice from singing choir for the church when he was a kid.
Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons "Beggin" (1967). It was 54 years ago, when this song first came out. And yes, Mel they are the originators of this song. You and Shawn were not the only ones who did not know.
After this song became a huge hit again in (2007) by Madcon for the movie "Step Up 3."
The Four Seasons version once again became a big hit.
Going down the rabbit hole that is "The Four Season." Is going to be well worth it. Love your reaction. Awesome!
They sounded so good back then because they had an abundance of natural talent. No autotune and all that stuff.
I think there's an abundance of talent today. Just no creativity or uniqueness.. And a big part of that is because record and radio companies had control of what people could listen to for so long, and they eventually started creating models and artists to follow trends. Which is why a lot of music and artists today sounds bland and repetitive.
They don't find talent anymore.. They try to artificially create it in their pre-planned cookie cutter molds.
These want to singers today late 80's through now can't sing,no talent they need a machine for them to sound good, 50's,60's 70's singers didn't ,they had natural given talent 👍
@@user-bq9tw8lt5l Precisely. No talent.
@@Gutslingeryou’re not looking then. Just as much talent today as there was then
@@ewest14 You apparently weren't looking at my first sentence then.
Rag Doll another good one. You wouldn’t believe how many “newer” songs are actually covers ☮️💜
That’s one of the reasons I don’t like new music because technically it’s not new it’s like they don’t have their own ideas
@@thelegendaryfk7922 people have covered songs in every decade not just new music. I think you just want an excuse to hate on the current generation and are using covers as a reason to do so.
@@NateWest23 I don’t hate new music I am someone who likes to listen to all music but new music lately is just full of covers I think for me the issue is that they are covering some songs that I already actually like so I don’t see why I would listen to the new version but every now and then they’re a few good songs that come out
@@thelegendaryfk7922 ua-cam.com/video/O9G6mVo_AbQ/v-deo.html Top hits from 40-50 years ago were covers too.
@@thelegendaryfk7922Old music is full of covers too; you're just not aware of them.
How did they sound so good? In the '50s popularity was based on talent. They weren't just taking a pretty face and trying to make him or her a star with gimmicks, dancers, light shows, fashion, etc. What you're hearing is authentic music.
Exactly right
@@ajruther67 The Four Seasons were a 60's group not 50's
it was the 70s
@@robertcameron4417 He talking about the Four Lovers in 1956
This song is a perfect example of an immortal masterpiece- it still goes on and on and on literally, generation-by-generation.
Agree.
NO AUTO-TUNE in those days that was entirely them that is how they sounded on record and LIVE
there was a bit of fixing but what song does not have that extraordinary what they did and plus this is the remastered version.
a remaster is still the original recording just mastered again using modern equipment
I believe the 4 Seasons released this song in 1967, 54 years ago.
Correct.
Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons were awesome. Every song is great. When I was a little girl I loved listening to them. Great in concert too.
Music back then was real and all talent, they had real singers and musicians from bands to orchestras. The sound was so good. when you hear people today they rarely sound the same singing live.
"How do you sound that good in the 50s, compared to the song today?" The answer is...the music from back then is the roots of today's music. This is where it alllllll comes from.
This is not the 50s
It’s actually late 60’s
70’s music starts to build off of a similar sound if you notice
Only hearing this classic this time did I really notice the bass and drums just going absolutely ham in the background the entire track. My god it is glorious.
ua-cam.com/video/Bg9oxWHGZsM/v-deo.html
Agree.
No autotunes, not mixing, just original voice and talent.
so many great groundbreaking songs
this wasnt from the 50s. Its from 1967. still well over 50 years. listen to this and what you are hearing is Bob Guadio and Bob Crewe and the fourr seasons version of the Motown sound. 10 out of 10. Although not as famous as Brian Wilson or Phil Spector, Bob Gaudio remains one of the most talented Record Producers of all time, and sadly many do not even know his name or just how much great music he produced. The same goes for the songwriter singer and Producer and musical Partner Bob Crewe who wrote and sang on most of the four seasons, frank Vallli and many others hits.
All true.
The year I was born. 1967. We had good songs come out that year. I think a whiter shade of pale came out that year ❤️
True!
Frankie Valli is awesome!! That man brings the 🔥. 💯%
The pride of Newark! Joe Pesci introduced Frankie to the band!
28 times its actually been covered. Mental. Just shows what a tune it is
I watch a lot of reactions but this is by far the best I've ever seen
The harmony & Frankie's versatile voice made The Four Seasons a unique & stand-out group.
Agree.
Hi Shawn and Mel, I myself never knew that Frankie and the Four Seasons were the original, I found out this only a couple months ago! I'm happy that you two get to hear the original 👍 😊
I really gotta say, ypu guys are the only reaction channel that really goes back into some of the oldies, and I love it! Most people haven't actually heard a lot of these, so the reactions are actually authentic. And they are great songs! Keep it up!
yes your so right
Absolute classic song love it to bits a northern soul classic my speakers bleed to this .
Great review show and Beggin happens to be one of my favorite songs and written by 4 Seasons band member Bob Gaudio!!!! Who happens to be one of the most talented song writers of his time. Keep in mind the Four Seasons are one of the first bands to write the majority of their own songs and play their own instruments. One last fun fact, they are the only band to have a number one ☝️ record before, during and after the Beatles. No other Band can claim that musical achievement, now or ever.
I first heard this song on American Idol. Now, it’s one of my favorites from this group. It’s such a cool song and it rocks. There are covers out there, but nothing beats the original.
They sounded that good in the 50"s and 60's because, simply put, they were that good. Great natural talents, all of them.
While we're in the beggin' mood, how about Ain't Too Proud to Beg by The Temptations from 1966?! 🔥
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep telling Shawn and Mel they have to listen to the Temptations ! They will LOVE them!
50's early 60's the best music era. My 23 yr old son can sing many of these songs.
Anyone who listened to the radio in 2007 could probably sing you this specific song from memory!
My favorite song by The Four Seasons is Opus 17. Great song!! Rag Doll is an early gem. You might know Walk Like A Man. Sooooo many great songs by this one group. Frankie Valli later recorded as a solo artist & his first huge hit is Can't Take My Eyes Off You - definitely worth a listen!!
Undoubtedly the best reaction I’ve ever seen to this song Mel You had it really early❤😂
💖💖💖 Frankie and the 4 seasons are made a lot of songs who was covered by another bands, there is made a movie from there life's called ''The Jersey Boys''.
They sound that good because they actually had REAL talent and did not need technology to sound good.
technology doesn't make people sound good today either
if someone sounds shit, they'll sound shit, in tune or not
The difference is real talent. Unlike today's artist.
Just goes to show how forward thinking and ahead of it's time this song was as it was released quite recently and nobody is any the wiser that it was a 50 yr old song.
Much sought after with the Northern soul music collectors
Those Guys are geniuses. Can be tweaked but it doesn't get better than this.Frankie Valli is in his 80s now.
You guys should check out some of their videos made during Covid 19 lockdown.Legends.They sound so good.
Being born in 1955 I have witnessed hearing some of the best music and artists ever.
They always get a 100 from me.
"My Eyes adored you","Rag Doll". Please.
Great reaction Guys .Y'all are positively the best.
Memories back in The Bronx 1960s. Is my favorite group 60s
So glad you found this was the original 💛
You gotta do “Who Loves You” by the Four Seasons!
I'm pretty sure they already did (about a year ago?).
@@wnsafford1854 hmmm…will try to find it!
This song (Beggin) came out in 1967. Frankie Valli and & Four Seasons are an Italian American group from Newark New Jersey. They were known as Blue Eye Soul. Another great Italian American group from Garfield New Jersey was the Young Rascals. And one of the greatest singers was Italian American the late great Frank Sinatra from Hoboken New Jersey. New Jersey was well represented back in the day with these Italian American performers. Awesome!
Frankie sounds like he's even rapping a little bit
Those guys had a long running broadway show depicting their lives and career called "Jersey boys".
We could turn on a radio, AM, no FM, and hear all the hits by these groups. Transistor radios were popular for easy take along. The first records I played were 78's.😄
This is an Original written by them and released in 1967
Another GREAT one of theirs that others have covered is 'The Night'. it's one of my favorites
This was the early 60s, I think. They're biggest hits, you haven't even played yet. Sherry, Ragdoll, Walk Like a Man, and on and on.
Yeah! Great reaction! Been hoping for this reaction! Actually 1967, but it's all good. So you guys get it. Thank you. Image your 17 when this came out, and a fan. Yeah! Heard the cover and it's good as you say. The flip side of "Beggin'" is a tune called "Dody". More sort of experimental stuff from my boys. Thanks again!
Dody, another great rocker by the 4 Seasons and great Valli vocals.
I love Frankie Valli
One of the composers of "Beggin'" was Bob Gaudio, one of the Four Seasons! He's the tall guy!!!
Sounds so good because the artist had pure talent!!!
I ain't gonna lie, I don't remember ever hearing this song and I grew up during this period listening to everything from the 4 seasons to Chuck Berry to the Beatles to Motown to the Carpenters. We had just so much great music back then. Great music and cool cars. I was a kid but miss that era.
The song was first record by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in 1967.
Frankie Valley and 4 seasons. Timebox, maneskin, madcon shocking blue, noel macanna, Patricia play, the Saturdays, dolapdere big gang, the overtones, million miles plus at least another 6 to 10 bands covered this tune. I bet the royalties are ridiculous. Great tune. Timeless clearly
Back in the day when my friends and I were breakin' this song was soooo much fun to dance to.. the drums are stellar!
It's called TALENT guys
You wonder how they sounded so good back then? Just pure God given talent. They didn't need a bunch of artificial stuff to make them sound good.
YES! YES! YES! They got SOUL! Right? LOL Love it!
You both are too cute! Love you guys ❤️
Hands down the best reactions in any reaction video I have seen. You’re too funny!!!
Actually this song was released by the Four Seasons, in 1967, making it only 54 years old.
the music and his voice. i am glad you are bringing the music back
7:15 Thanks so much for the compliment.😁
10 no doubt! Saw the Four Seasons back in the late 70s at the Stardust Inn (no longer there) in Waldorf, MD. After the show got to met Frankie and he invited my friend and I out to breakfast at a road joint on Rt. 301. Food was great. I wish I could remember the name of the place. Probably not there anymore. Frankie was real and very kind and I'll never forget it. Thanks for the memory! 💖
I’ve heard the other group’s song but knew it wasn’t who I’d heard this song from previously so did some searching and yes, it was the 4 seasons. No offense meant to the other group, but I like this one better. I always liked the 4 seasons but never heard this song until more recently. I give this a 10+++
Enjoyed your reaction!
THANK YOU SO MUCH SHAWN MEL FOR ALL WONDERFUL VIDEOS ,I WAS SURPRISED THAT YOU GUYS APPRECIATE MUSIC LIKE THE FOUR SEASONS, I KNOW THAT BOTH OF YOU WAS NOT BORN YET BACK WHEN THE FOUR SEASONS WAS MAKING ALL THOSE HITS BUT IT IS NICE THAT PEOPLE OF YOUR AGE AND STILL APPRECIATE MUSIC OF GROUPS LIKE THE FOUR SEASONS, I WAS THIRTEEN YEARS OLD WHEN SHERRY HIT CHARTS BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 1962 ,BUT I LOVE THAT SONG AND I BECAME A FOUR SEASONS FAN AND I STILL AM ,
SHAWN AND MEL ,I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING
December 1963 is well worth checking out.
You both always put what we all like GOOD MUSIC 🎶 Thank You 🙏🏼 keep it going ! 🙏🏼♥️🇺🇸🙌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Early 60's. Great reaction, very talented band.
Right at the intersection of Doo-Woop and Disco.
Right before the British Invasion.
I had never heard their version. This is good. Thanks for the musical education. 👍😁
I still got this on vinyl great track to dance in late 60s 🎶👍
Seeing you guys being "blown away" by Beggin' is amazing to see! Bob Gaudio (keyboardist for the Four Seasons & co-writer of this song, as well as the majority of their other hits) is truly a musical genius!
Frankie is very talented. He had a 8 octave voice.
Don't be daft. He had a 3 octave range. He couldn't go low. There are very few singers that have a 5 octave range, and a few handfuls that have 6-7.
He also walked on water. 8 octaves?!? Lol
I like the Madcon version, too. Fun video.
Love the reaction. I love when my kids react to songs they love and i know all the lyrics and have to break the bad news...its not ne sorry. Got them goo with this and Sound of silence, and quite a few others..good times
They brought out a 40 greatest hits on vinyl in the 70's 2 disc set, I have 2 copies of it as I play it all the time, you must react to "who loves you" the video to it is them recording in a studio ❤️❤️❤️
My absolute favorite song
Uptown girl by billy Joel was paying homage to the Four seasons Sound. Other groups when the Four seasons started out tried to capitalize on their sound-one such group was Randy & The Rainbows and their hit song Denise.
"Working My Way Back To You" popularised by the Detroit Spinners was also originally done by The Four Seasons.
I prefer the Detroit Spinners' version though.
Its amazing how a song written so long ago can sound so fresh and relevant today
This song was recorded in 1967. Only a merr 54 years ago 😂
wow I just heard this great song, there are so many great songs that I haven't heard
the original will always be the best
PURE TALENT NO MACHINES TO MAKE YOU TO APPEAR TO HAVE TALENT
I’m afraid you’ll encounter quite a few of these “wtf?” moments as you do more reaction videos, as you gradually realise that so many songs you thought were contemporary are sampling or covering the old greats 😃
Frankie was even on the sopranos as rusty
frankie was special.. he had the x faxtor.. great music & a great era..
❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️❤️ With love to you both, always, ~ Laura💞
True talent always beats technology.
I didn’t know it was Frankie valli until 10 minutes prior to watching your video ……I was shocked as you guys and felt almost emotionally violated lolll
December 1963 ( Oh What A Night) is a MUST reaction. Frankie Valli and The Four Season's iconic song and my favorite.
Yes, those are THE guys but YOU guys are so fun to watch.
This was originally a hit in 1967 and Frankie and The Four Seasons had been having hits for 5 years to this point and would go on to have more into the 70's. They are one of only a couple of US groups to survive the Beatles invasion and carry on having hits throughout. They're definitely worth a deep dive. Let's Hang On, C'Mon Marianne, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Rag Doll, Dawn and many more, all great.
hey shawn and mel just you know today is may 3th which is frankie valli birthday so happy birthday frankie valli
I had no idea the other version was a cover!!!! Wow!
Big Girls Don't Cry should be your NEXT song by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
Yep, that's indeed our friend, the Mayor of Munchkinland over there ...
They also sang the original version of Lauryn Hill's Can't Take My Eyes Off You, btw
Your faces were a picture ...I never knew this either till a couple of years ago .
This came out in the 60s but lets face it, the talent today is almost none existent compared to then. Its why they need to go back 50 or 60 years to cover real music. The 50s-1970s has the best collection of music produced in world history....and thats a fact!
WOW ! Dang! I went to watch the other reaction ,by Måneskin-- It was AWESOME! Thanks for introducing it to me
Pretty sure beggin was 1967 ? ❤️❤️❤️ 10/10
It was in the 6o's, back then it was pure talent you had to have it or no go.
