Great video. I decided to try pressed powder foundation after watching that video you posted. I picked up ItCosmetics and brush for half off at Ulta. I love it. I've avoided powder foundation thinking I was too old. But I'm finding I love it.

That's the thing that gets me with powder foundation.....While I'm putting it on I feel like it's doing absolutely nothing, so I end up putting wayyyy too much on. Lately I'll apply it and when I get the urge to add more, I stop myself and do my eye makeup. When I'm finished with the eyes I'll go back and see if I need to add more (usually I don't) because by then it's settled and melded into the skin. Just a lil trick I've learned to stop myself from over applying it. I love powder foundation for long work days because it end up looking better as the day goes on and it evens skin tone without feeling heavy or gross.
Great video. My favorite is bare minerals matte. I set it with the peach perfect setting spray.
I have to return that setting spray. The white dots issue hasn't resolved. I feel better since I've seen it happen to other people though! Thank you Becky!
Thanks for this! I have been using my BM again since you posted your other powder foundation video! I do conceal before I do the foundation and it seems to do fine! I may try concealing after now and see how it does! I so appreciate you doing this! 😘

I just returned the Tarte powder foundation yesterday. I kept the brush, although I'm not sure why. I didn't feel that it had enough coverage at all. Your skin is pretty much flawless even without foundation! Me, not so much. It also seemed to emphasize my large pores. Great tutorial, but definitely not for every skin type.
Thanks for yet another great video - it makes my day when I see a video post from you! Have you thought of doing a primer video? I have combo skin and often need something in my T zone but I haven't found anything that works well on my 40+ skin.
I have a bin FULL of primers and have started to but then between testing out powders and foundations, the primer testing never seems to happen...because then the foundation reviews, etc have to be put on hold! LOL! The other thing is that primers are SO individual to skin type that it's hard for me to say that YES, this primer is the end all be all for everyone who gets shiny. I may do a top 5 or a top and bottom 5 here shortly? I'm still thinking at it...as I stare at my primer bin! 😂
Oh my God I don't know how I stumbled upon this but I am so excited I just got the Laura Mercier mineral powder from TJ Maxx for like $15 but I thought it was the setting powder that everybody Raves about so now I don't know what to do thank you for this video
This is my favorite foundation, I love that you can get as much or as little coverage as I want. I also think it wears off my oily skin much more gracefully than any liquid foundation I've ever tried & it's great at touch ups.
When you did your finishing powder, did you use mineral veil with a wet sponge? Thanks for sharing this, I think mineral foundations are a hidden gem!
I do sometimes and sometimes I use a dry sponge or puff and then dust away any excess...whatever I have handy!

i like to use the powder foundation when i use certain sunsreens because they are so sticky that liquid foundation will pill up or do something funky. I have to agree. I think i save a few minutes simply because i have dry skin and don't have to set with powder and i can go to blush and powder highlighter but it isn't like this amazing short cut! You look beautiful and i have been eyeballing that brush for awhile. I think it is really pretty. I am such a snob over packaging . lol

It does for me if I prime and set it. I'm always surprised by the longevity!
Some mineral makeup products contain titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and other chemical ingredients in nanoparticle form; nanoparticles are tiny particles that can penetrate the skin layers and lungs if inhaled.
Excellent video! Question do you avoid eye area when applying the foundations and just go in with concealer after? I need concealer under eyes but don’t want it to be caked using a liquid concealer..

Your skin looks flawless in this foundation. You always look great!!!! I have uber dry skin so I usually stick to liquid or cream foundations. However, the issue is.... I am always boiling hot and my face sweats a lot. (Dr said this is a good thing as it indicates my kidneys are working well. Thanks??? 🤔)
I will have to try some of the powders you have listed and see what kind of results they render. I too live in a very hot/humid climate. I have a pile of foundations (powders too) that only look good for about 1-2 hours. Thanks for the product info. Looks like doggy was trying to escape. Love to see Luke in any way possible. I passionately love dogs, regardless of breed. Mine is a rescue named Cubby. I didn't know that sweating was tied to kidney health. I live in Oklahoma and carry a rechargeable fan with me everywhere. I have to put it in front of my face as I shop. And winter makes no difference tho I'm generally cooler.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have the tarte mineral powder foundation, and always felt like it went on patchy so it’s great to know HOW to actually apply it. I noticed in your pressed powder foundation routine you put concealer on first, however with mineral foundation it was after the powder. Is there a specific reason for the difference when using pressed versus mineral powder foundation? Thank you again!

Very timely for me! I just ordered a mineral foundation from Parlo Cosmetics.
Looks so natural; great coverage! I've used the Bare Minerals one in the past & although it looked nice, I realized I was getting several breakouts from it and have been apprehensive about using other mineral foundations... thinking it might be due to the fact that my skin tends to be on the dry side? Not sure. Thanks for the review Stephanie.
Susan B It was likely the bisthmuth oxychloride in the BM that broke you out, it is an irritant to many people's skin. If you want to try again, just look for a mineral foundation that doesn't contain bismuth and you will probably be fine!

i usually put my concealer on before but was pleasantly surprised you used your over and didn't 'pill' not sure if that's the right word

Thank you for this. I've been using mineral powder for a long time and I've noticed it does look very powdery. Sometimes my face looks like a powder puff that's just been dunked in powder. Hahahaha! Will definitely try this technique. Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing this tutorial that we requested! So overall how many times do you dip your brush to get powder usually? In the video it seems like you only dipped a couple times for the whole face

Stephanie, my skin is very textured and the shinyness of powder foundations have always emphasized my acne scars in the past. Are all powder foundations mineral? It seems to be the "mineral" component of powder foundations and finishing powders that emphasize texture.
Hi Connie. I know what you're referring to. As an oily/combo skinned person, I never liked that either. In my other powder foundations video that I link and reference in this video, I use pressed powder foundations which aren't mineral. Also, both of the ones I use in this video aren't shiny at all. :)
I was just wondering did you ever purchase on the 21 days of Beauty from Ulta the Laura Geller (bake balance-n-brighten foundation) ?

jeanette Milling I purchased the Laura Geller and have been using it for my no makeup, makeup days and I love it. I was using NYX stay matte not flat, and the Laura Geller looks less powdery. I usually color correct and conceal lightly beforehand because I have a couple pretty dark spots and the Laura Geller doesn't cover those. I figured it was a great time to try it at half price, and will repurchase it again.

I used BM loose powder when it was still an infomercial 🤣 loved it made my face itch like crazy does the mineral veal primer dry? I can't stand when they slip all over my face and won't sink in
The matte version doesn't have that ingredient in it that a lot of people are allergic to. :)
Stephanie Marie thanks maybe I'll pick up trial version I have to many primers my two favorite are drug store 😍 love the becca back light priming filter for matte foundations keeps my skin from looking so dry 😊
I was always afraid to use mineral loose powder foundation cause I was afraid it wasn't enough coverage or look too cakey on my aged skin. Wow, yours looks so flawless and makes me want to try it again. Do you know of any drugstore affordable ones?
L'Oreal makes one and I think the BM Matte comes in a smaller size. Also, Sephora's semi annual sale is coming up if you're BI, VIB or Rouge with them so you can get one of these for a lesser price.

You can. It's really about not getting too much on the brush so that you don't get too much on the skin though. I'd see if that works for you...sometimes when doing that, a lot can get up into the brush. Experiment and see what works! :)
Yes .... that was my problem ... to much on the face and brush and for some reason the color was awful ...Not a match ....so I just might check out the Tarte Airbrush...., It really looked good on you....but of course ...you know what you are doing.... I am not a full coverage gal .... so maybe I can make it work.....or not...With my wrinkles ...I am wondering.... Hugs ... Shirlene
