  • As I continue to recover from the "exhaustive Exhaust" series the content I had planned to release this weekend just isn't done yet so I thought I'd take a ride and thank everyone for getting me to 1000 subs and share some other items. As always thanks to everyone for your continued support and I will be putting out my best efforts to keep content flowing on this channel. Take Care!

    Congrats on the 1k! It does become a lot of work putting content out in a reasonable time. Especially when you have a full time career to manage. Putting a series together, doing the work, along with all the editing can become more of a chore than enjoyment at times, but in the end it's worth it. Keep it up!

    I never get bored of the bike, so anything you customize or have to deal with regarding the ninja 1000 is great content imo. Keep it up boss🤙

    Great channel! Found your channel while researching possibly my first bike, the CBR 650F. Keep'em coming!

      the CBR 650F was definitely on my radar when I was considering going to a 4 cylinder bike. My only gripe with the 650F is the antiquated electronics/dashboard. It'd be nice if they included a gear indicator etc with it. Outside of that though, the 650F looks to be a hell of a bike and I'd be interested to know what your thoughts are on it. My Ninja 650 and my Ninja 1000 are solid as nails bikes too and I just love the riding position and their features. Good luck with your first bike, I think the 650F is a great choice and you'll probably love it! Thank you for finding my channel and for watching!

      Well you got one more from me, I actually watched a couple of your vids when I was researching the Ninja 1000. Keep up the good work and keep pumping those videos out!

    Congrats on the 1000 subs, you deserve it! It takes a ton of time and effort to get there, so you should be proud. And thanks for the shout-out!!
    I don't mind the helmet cam view, and I think having the dual cam setup makes it even better. But one thing you might try is using a chest mount. I bought a "Stuntman Chest Mount" (available on amazon) for my cycling video projects and it would work great on the motorcycle too.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому

      Thanks man really appreciate the encouragement and no problem on the shout-out you deserve it for all the great content you have on your channel. Its been a huge help to me and my channel and I refer to your videos often when I need to take things apart. I'll look into the chest mount that might be the answer though I'm not sure I like the idea of having to slip into that. In fact I think I already have a chest mount in one of those big GoPro accessories kits I bought a long time ago. I'll have to dig through that and check. Thank you again for the comment and cant wait to see your next vids! Take care!

    Put a pair of wide angle mirrors to keep an eye on those creeping really close. Maybe not that a big problem where u stay... But here in India people drive/ride very close to each other. The wide angles help in spotting them early and save me from a surprise moment.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому +1

      Yeah I've watched a lot of videos that come out of India on the Ninja 1000 and I cannot believe how congested it is in some places there! I think for the most part the roads here are much less congested even in our bigger cities. I'm sure you can find examples of that here but seems like in India (just from what I've seen in videos) everyone rides very close together and there are just more cars and people on the roadways. The Ninja 1000 actually has far better mirrors than the Ninja 650 in that they are spread wider apart and I can actually see pretty well out of them for a motorcycle. BUT as I said in my video I tend to be scanning all around me anyway. I do appreciate the idea of putting some blind spot mirrors on at some point but I think they detract from the looks of the bike....but we'll see how it goes. So far things seem good in terms of visibility. Thank you for the comment!

    You said a while back you like bikes and tech so a video on the techy stuff like the imu on your bike and other electronics would be cool. Could be a good winter project. I enjoy your stuff so keep it up.

    Sqeaking breaks could be dust getting into the mechanism, just needs air pressure blast hopefully 👍

      @@StormtrooperRides Upgrade with better pads too, such as HH rated. Stock pads are usually a compromise.

    Congrats on the 1k! So I installed my black widow on my ninja 650 and it sounds like a beast. That's without messing with the baffle... I still want my neighbors to tolerate me😂. My only question is that is it normal for a small amount of exhaust to leak between the joints on the pipes? I used the sealant but I feel a very light exhaust leak. Is that a big deal? Should I apply more sealant to the joint? Bike is running fine but I don't want to mess anything up down the road. Excuse the pun.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому

      Irfan Qureshi I don’t think you’re doing any great harm to the bike with a slight leak but I’d get them sealed for optimal performance as well as insuring good fuel efficiency. It could also be theoretically dangerous if you are stopped with the engine running and those fumes are rising up to you. I’m not a huge fan of the paste that Black Widow provides as it turns to concrete basically once it heat cycles and makes it difficult to get the pipes back apart. I’d recommend when resealing using a high temp silicone sealant. Shouldn’t be to tough to redo those joints but kind of a pain. Probably worth the effort though for peace of mind. Hope that helps and thanks as always for stopping by and for the support!

    Remove the brake pads, blast the backs and calipers with brake cleaner. THINLY coat the top, bottom and back of the pad back plates with copper anti seize paste.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому +1

      Wow I’ve never removed brake pads before but if it comes to that there is always a first time. Thanks for the suggestion and I’ll let you know how it goes! Appreciate the information and support!

    What mic are you using? I can't stop the wind noise, even after wrapping it with fur

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому +1

      Hey Tom! Using the giant squid mic ( amzn.to/2PDfA3z ). I'd prefer to go back to my Sony ECM-CS3 mic as it sounds better but the giant squid works much better with the GoPro audio adapter for the Hero 5/6. As for stopping wind noise...its a process. I've not had a lot of luck with dead cats so I layer the mic in foam and that seems to work pretty well. If you check out my helmet setup video from last year I go into detail on how I do that with my mic. I'll probably make an updated version of that over the winter but until then, that is the basic concept. Hope that helps!

    • @eCavedigger

      @@StormtrooperRides great thank you. I'm been thinking about vlogging while riding, but I just can't cancel the wind noise out. I'm going to try the foam

    Does the rear wheel squeak/creak when you roll it backwards or forwards? Mine did that and it turned out that the rear wheel spindle was drilled off centre and it had started to wreck the rear wheel bearings. Incidently, these were the second set of bearings I had replaced as the originals were replaced at the 600 mile service. At the time they didn’t know it was the spindle! Just a thought.

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому

      Thanks Randemonium for that information! I will look into that and hopefully that is not the case. I dont think this is happening but now I'm going to for sure inspect that when I have a minute. Thanks very much for your insight and for stopping by!

    Did your old 650 really feel different from 1000 . ?

    • @StormtrooperRides
      @StormtrooperRides  5 років тому

      Well in some ways yes they are very different like power, weight feel, vibration/smoothness and sound...but in other ways they are very similar like in riding position, dash display, general layout of controls, clutch feel and braking. I think it’s easy to just focus on the raw power output and in that scope they couldn’t be further apart, the 1000 is much more powerful and when you add the extra 100lbs you could make a fair argument that they feel vastly different... BUT to me after getting over that part they ride very similarly and I think it’s a pretty smooth transition from one bike to the other. Hope that answers your question and thanks for asking. Take care!
