I concede, you have the “ratter” GTO, and I mean that affectionately it’s a cool car for sure, it was great meeting you and talking GTOs with you, maybe tomorrow we can get pictures of the cars together
Love the GTO! Hope to see you work on it this year before next years Hotrod Power Tour. I saw you and Austin at Charlotte pull in near the main stage. I hadn’t watched any of your videos yet. If I see you again I will come say “Hi”
Driven is the new Joe Gibbs oil. Lake Speed Jr helped develop it.😊 The oil has protection if the car sits. The US Military uses it because alot of vehicles just sit around. High zinc (ZDDP) for that flat tappet cam.
@@MechanicalAdvantageGarage So is Lucus & Valvoline ZR-1 with zinc. Hard as hell to find Driven on the road but Lucus & ZR-1 with Zinc is in most Auto Zones, Oreilly's & NAPA
The car had a fresh oil change before the tour with Lucas hot rod oil. I don’t mind mixing brands so long as they have the zinc in it. Sometimes on the road you have to take what you can get.
Yeah I couldn't get time off plus I didn't want to spend a k in gas and another k on hotels not to mention food, snacks, drinks and if your car breaks well ...

There was some construction in the hotel we were staying at in SC, and no asphalt surface is completely flat. I could have rolled over it, it stuck its point in the tread block and the next rotation sent it home. We will never know for sure.
Yeah I brought it as a “get us off the side of the highway at 20mph and to someplace safe” spare, not as one we would finish the tour on since it’s not as tall as the other rear tire. Kinda knew if I had a problem I was buying a tire. Now that I know all the issues the car has and none of them are major, I’ll be better prepared for next year.
Those harbor freight trolley jacks are awful. However, I will say I bought a husky from home Depot for like 30$ and it's been the best trolley jack I've ever owned. I bought another and keep them in both daily drivers. I've used the one probably 50 plus times working on various cars and it's never failed me. Just a suggestion for one to buy
I bought the HF trolley Jack just to have an emergency trolley Jack, I have a husky floor Jack at home and it’s awesome but it was too big to throw in the back.
@@MechanicalAdvantageGarage my trolley jacks are husky. And the best ones I've ever owned. They are in both of my daily drivers for emergencies. HF is great for a lot of things but I won't buy their cheaper jacks. My home one is a Michelin 3 ton rapid pump that's quite old. It's the best jack ever, but it weighs a metric f-ton.
Austin brings no tools, so I needed to grab something quick, and my 20 year old trolly Jack finally blew a seal in its pump a month before. It’s not let me down so far but it feels cheaply made. I’ll pick up something better when I have time. Thanks!
I pre-booked 2 rooms at the stops. I hooked them 2 weeks before the trip. We could have done with one but we were supposed to be traveling with 2 other people who backed out at the last minute.
The state fair venues are always better. Easy in and out. Race tracks are a pain. They are building a NHRA track down the road from us. There are no real access roads they are going to be stacked out on the interstate.
But I know how you must have filled changing that tire I'm also 50 years old and overweight so I know how easy it is to lose your breath especially out the hot sun
I am changing oil in my 1968 Pontiac 400 Firebird with a new oil filter every 1,000 to 1,200 miles max. Been doing it that way since the 70s. Oil is cheaper then fresh rebuilt motors. Driven with Zink is good, but so is Lucas & Valvoline ZR-1 with zinc. The thing to always remember is there is no such thing as milti weight oil, if it reads 20-W50 that is 20 weight oil as soon as the oil hits 180 degrees it's only 20 weight oil. Fact is it's only 50 weight when it is COLD ! Never use multi weight oil. Use 30W in winter & 40 weight in summer and 50W for racing in old cars motor but you must run Zinc as the Damn EPA took all the good stuff out of oil today.
Thanks for the shout out. I'm adding your video to my HOT ROD POWER TOUR PLAYLIST.
Awesome man! Thanks

Your 70 is killer too. Glad I got to meet you. Let’s keep in touch
PONTIAC Rules!Always like seeing an old goat. Your friends car sounds great too. Always been a GTO man myself
Thanks, me too

Thanks from the Nederlands 🤙

Our pleasure!

Yeah, power tour isn’t cheap. Thankfully the gas prices weren’t as bad as last year.
@@MechanicalAdvantageGarage curious of how much the gas bill was? I probably shouldn't hear how much it was it might deter me from going lol
I haven’t added it up, but back of the napkin math puts it at $500 for the trip
I loved the video! Couldn't make it this year, hopefully next year in my 66 Lemans
Glad you like it
Your GTO rocks!!

Look for Alex Taylor, D D Speed Shop , vice grip garage .the people who also on that power tour too 🎉🎉
My last video (day 2) had Alex Taylor riding a hover board in circles around austin at the end. She’s super fun to hang out with.
always sucks to have issues, carry a spare tire save yourself down the road, enjoy the tour!
We have a spare….it’s from 1978, lol

Did you guys pre book your hotels or just find stuff along the way?

Agreed, although we showed up at zMAX at 1:30 and got right in.
you could have moved the car forward before removing the tire
I could have done a lot of things differently, wasn’t thinking clearly

20 minutes of you changing a tire, you gotta do better man😂
