I've now been married to the same woman for 51 years. We LOVE one another. She's my best friend! She's my buddy. We've hiked over 18,000 miles together. We've prayed thousands of hours together. We've read and studied the Holy Bible together for thousands and thousands of hours together. We garden together, we live on our Homestead and we LOVE life and we LOVE living. We are together 24/7 and truly enjoy one another's company and presence. Marriage is magnificent to her!

So lovely. I am 80. We were married 58 years lost my husband nearly 3 years ago. I looked after him for 8 years with alzheimers. Life is empty without him. I have a weak heart and often wake thinking I hear him in the kitchen. I believe I will see him soon. This couple are lucky to still be active and happy. Bless them.

I come back to this video a lot. My parents are in an incredibly toxic marriage but won't separate. They've been together for 34 years. There's no more humor, no more intimacy, no soft and patient love between them. I go back to this video to remind myself what love looks like. To everyone with parents who are in a toxic relationship but won't divorce, I feel your pain. It sucks, and I hope things get better for you soon. We all deserve to be happy.
Scrolling through the comments and I had paused here (and other comments 😅) because I relate to having toxic parents that lost the intimacy and breakdown of communication over 30 years. And I don't want my marriage to end up like my parents, even if I had done wrongs in my relationship. I wish you could find your happiness too

I'm a parent in a toxic relationship but won't divorce because if we get divorced I would be out on the street with no security after grafting to pay a mortgage for 20 years while she would live on in comfort and security in the family home but that's just what it's like for a man in the 21st century.

I've been married for 10 years and it's been all over the place. I dont think knowing yourself matters much in marriage because from my experience, we are constantly changing and adapting to our world.
Who I am today is unrecognizable from the person I once was. I learned how to compromise on the things that matter and let go of what is destructive because I now want nothing more than to both inspire and protect my wife and the children we've been blessed with. Every up and down is a chance to learn and craft a story to help those to come.
Life is a journey, and we have learned to let things come and go, but the one thing we won't let go of is our commitment to each other. We will keep fighting for the love we share, inspiring and lifting each other to new heights and pushing ourselves to be the person we need to be. I praise God for my wife, kids, and story that has made me who I am today.

Yes you are right
People have a hard time finding this because they’re too caught up in “a type” and reject people who don’t fit the perfect image of who they think they want to be with and focus on physical such as height, complexion, style , how much money they have and other societal things etc. instead of the soul … it’s all about connecting with the soul and that person probably wouldn’t be your exact “type” at first on a 3D level but then they become everything you ever wanted in every way 💜🦋

This film touched my heart. The love and friendship that they have for one another is palpable even through the computer screen. Together they have created enough harmony to sustain them even if the other should pass on. Their relationship is confirmation that true, lasting, monogamous love does in fact exist.
No cheating, no perverted sex, no excess jealousy.
We don't know if their relationship was monogamous at all. Still it does not even matter because that could be part of the journey that fosters forgiveness and enriches their marriage. I find their obvious comfort in each others company so wonderful. Their life has come full circle.

As someone who has been struggling with intimacy, watching this couple reassured me that we really aren’t perfect and we don’t need to be because relationships require work anyways and that it is okay if you change or have arguments because that is bound to happen because we are all human beings

I'll never forget the first time I visited Poplar Grove: Margie was in town, just doing errands, and Antony said he hoped she'd be back in time for evening meditation. She got there just as we had all entered the Zendo and about to get started. They gave each other the warmest hug and loving kiss, and the joy of reunion was tangible - like they hadn't seen each other in months, rather than hours. I'm so blessed to have such a great example for my own marriage and family. And gosh, it's lovely to see them both looking healthy and happy, and the Grove looking so lush. Do visit the Grove or read Anthony's books, if you ever feel the calling - I cannot recommend it highly enough. 💗

I loved this. I will say, I noticed that every time they passed each other they did a soft brush of the back. I know this and what it means when you and your spouse are that deeply connected because I have that deep connection with my own spouse. We can’t pass in the kitchen without doing this. I do love their laughter and also she gave me a great reality. That your person deserves to be loved and Grace even though you want to kill them sometimes. This is a couple that i want to be around all the time. It’s so sad that the concept of mature couples mentoring younger couples is rare and unknown. This couple, in their calm, experienced joyful wisdom is such a great example for young couples, no matter if they are still madly in love or out of love and in trouble. I’ve gone through tremendous hard times with my husband and we are stronger and happier than ever, deeper and more profound than ever. But it takes courage and work and a lot of faith to get through it. It’s so good to see that staying together has great rewards down the road.

This was so completely touching. I cried. When I look at people who have had good long marriages, I see this comfortability in them. It is this comfort and strength I feel. My parents always said living with someone who is a stranger is no easy thing. However, through overcoming hardship and having very similar values I saw this amazing and touching friendship grow in my parents. And even now they learn from each other. It is something God willing, I hope I am able to have too. I wish that many people would also know this. To not be so consumed and addicted to immediate intense attraction but know that hardship is a part of life.
I also think these two people were generally healthy minded people when meeting, but for those who have had a lot of hurt finding healing is vital to sustain a long term relationship. If you do not fight your own demons, those demons are brought into the relationship and it creates this tornado. I pray that our society finds healing so the hurt does not grow and continue.

How she laughs at everything he says, so beautiful. That is crazy being accepted completely for who you are right from the start. That must be a marriage made in heaven. I'd guess that really doesn't happen in almost all cases. In my case it has taken years and years to accept each other for who we are, in fact still working on it after 60 years. Don't hold onto stuff, great advice. Great video.

This couple was very honest in how they communicated their marriage. Don't expect a version of perfection, a perpetual postcard version of marriage. I'm sure that would be boring, after all, we humans are so fickle! Expect a dynamic version with plenty of opportunities to learn about what ticks you off so that you can explore why and is it necessary, am I actually "right" or is it neither right nor wrong, and so much more! This is also how our marriage is. And we are growing old together. My husband also happens to get up first to make my coffee in the morning, while I set it up the night before!

The fact that they laugh together is a very good sign.
When I met my then boyfriend over 21 years ago, we shared a particular spiritual commonality, and she has repeatedly appeared before us, when we most need it. We take care of each other, sometimes begrudgingly, but we do it, nonetheless. We married to celebrate hubby's revival into life after 13 months of depression and the mental catatonic state he was in. But there is an undercurrent of giggles and laughter that permeates our lives on a daily basis.
Hubby has a background tape that plays, (due to his bi-polar state) and it can change daily. And I know something is wrong, when that tape stops playing. Then I have to figure out how to get him to turn it back on.
We have been through many storms and many good days as well. We'd rather ride the wave, than have it drown us. So we strive to try and ride the wave as much as possible. We are in our mid fifties and I am nearing 60 now, so life's little "issues" have begun to surface, which has thrown us into deeper water. We are learning how to navigate that deeper water these days.
I heard this long ago that, "A couple should never go to bed angry." And we don't. Thanks to the laughter we share.
It is called the "Little inside joke scripts, the back and forth language of love."

I'm glad I came across this. I was on the verge of giving up on love but this gives me hope that true love still does exist. What keeps ringing in my head is when she said the first time she met him she felt like she found a part of her in himself, there was something that felt like home.
