I do a real similar similar thing. I use 3/4 of a trick worm as a trailer. Sometimes they even use half of a Cinco for a bladed jig trailer

Beast coast jigs are freaking sexy.. especially with the buck hair or feathers... Much better in water action...they stand up much better than silicone alone...just a huge difference

Heavier circle split ring works just fine in my opinion
I just use a snap ring, works great. Owner makes the best IMO
