    Another great, informative video! People going crazy over FFS has made it apparent to me that 75-80% of anglers (at least in my experiences) have never realized the full capabilities of their mapping, sonar, down & side scan that’s been around the last decade (though it’s clarity & accuracy has improved greatly in recent times). Refreshing that you continue to show off the power of using these tools & appeal to guys like me that enjoy bassin’ on a small budget. I’ll be out there finding offshore bass on my old lowrance Elite 5’s (mapping/sonar/down scan) thinking how I could better find new spots w/ a side scan unit lol.

      Of course you don't need ffs to catch fish, people have been catching fish long before any electronics were invented. Ffs is for people that don't know how to catch fish without seeing it on a screen

    Great topic and content as so many of your videos are! No FFS and sticking to what more average boat owners have in the way of electronics is soooo helpful for us who have spent the money, wanting to learn and have some on water success. I know it may not be sexy, but a channel that adds a series of Basic 3 gen old electronics { I have HDS gen 3 } front {trolling motor mounted} and back and they do run 3-in 1 transducers, even though not supported with very good images. Keep this content type coming as it helps the whole sport continue to keep attracting those who cant afford the latest and greatest, but are committed to leaning and improving.

      @cloutmaster965 yeah, and that next big step cost more than I have in the whole boat...2002 19.2 vip [ nolonger made] was the BASS tournament boat the year it was made. 150 vmax, found it for 6800, added the two ebay auction, hds 9 and a repair shop rebuilt minkota 70lb thrust. Maxed my spend as on disability after heart transplant. Fished good, just need to expedite my technique / knowledge and graphing in Texas sun is mitigated with the added bimini, a life savor in our nw TX heat.

    21:35 Just a reminder that fluorocarbon has just as much stretch as nylon monofilament (sometimes more, depends on the formulation). Fluorocarbon is denser and often has better bite transmission, but it's a myth that fluoro stretches less than nylon mono.

    So I'm a little confused... you began by showing us that the thermocline is around 25 feet, and the fish were most likely going to be above that depth. And when fishing for suspended bass, you let the bait get to 20 feet or shallower. But later, you gave up fishing for suspended fish, and went on to use a football jig to scrape the bottom in 30-40 feet of water. If the thermocline is at 25 feet, why are you fishing bottom in 30-40 feet? I thank you ahead of time for your answer. Love your channel... especially when you are not using FFS. Keep up the good work!

      The mapping in the second area was off by 10' or so. If you look at the down imaging images, the fish I marked were in 20-25ft on a rockpile, but the map said it was 35ft deep. Just a contour map error.

    I appreciate your vids giving your thoughts on locating fish. For the most part a lot of others have a “secret” bait that is sure to catch them. It does not matter what bait you use if not put where the fish are. The hard part locating them, then catching is not so hard. Thanks again.

    Interesting use of depth shading for the summer - I’ll give it a try.
    It looks like the actual water depth on 2D and down imaging is ~10-12’ less than what’s shown on the contour map (at about 11:00 into the video). Map shows ~34’ and 2D about 22’. Agree, or am I missing something?

    • @FishtheMoment
      @FishtheMoment  Місяць тому +1

      The Hover Rig has a 90 degree hook eye with promotes more side-to-side body roll and keeps the bait deeper when retrieving it. The TUSH has a 60 degree hook eye which causes to bait to glide forward more and ride higher in the water. I use the TUSH when I want to fish the bait fast and closer to the surface or in shallower areas. I use the hover rig when I want to work the bait slow and deeper.

    By using 200 kH the cone is to narrow for the depth your fishing. The fish will look like blobs instead of arches...80kH gives a much wider cone and stays over the fish for a linger time... I use 200 KH in 100 ft or more fishing for grouper. It seems that I see a lot of this with fresh water fishing... may have to make other adjustments, but it works shal water 40 ft or less or maybe even more.... thx for the video. Nice to see a true fishing video without FFS. Imagine if all videos were about fishing and not fish hunting. There could actually be a skill in it that could be honed over the years and appreciated. The fact that you mention that you don't have FFS dozens of times, suggests that you may have become too dependent upon it. With FFS you can eliminate 99% of the lake in 10 seconds. Just shoot at what you see. Perhaps you could commit your channel to teaching people how to fish and never using FFS. I laughed when you called it a grind because you only caught 5 fish and had to do it without seeing and tricking the fish......welcome to fishing.
