      I would replace the front pump, torque converter and filter asap before it damages anything else. And check for a worn RH Axle support bracket(unrelated but common) Once the transmission is fixed, service the transmission every 30k miles, 3 drains. Then the transmission will last Many years, and the 2.5l engine is very reliable

    Love the "Sorry for your luck". it's not luck. The issue is Ford and their garbage engineering and KNOWING these transmissions were garbage even before they sold one car.

    The mechanic who replaced mine with a remanufactured unit, overfilled it...didn't have it checked until the year warranty was up and it started whining ironically enough, drained a little fluid to the recommended level..still whines, not as loud but shifts even better now oddly enough. FORD should be held accountable on this crap

    I have had a ton of transmission work done on my 2017. I got it back for the 3rd time about 4-5 weeks ago. The dealership likes to throw shade that I don’t know what I’m talking about with the noises my car makes. I know this car. The car now has a new sound, just like in this video, after having had my car for a month and supposedly repairing it…and now it’ll have to go back. Ford knows there’s an issue and at this point it’s beyond infuriating.

      Sorry to hear that. That's best to have them look at it again. Perhaps there's a leak, or they didn't put enough fluid in. Or, they reused the old pump and that's failed now

  • @LClaypool

    My 2019 escape is just starting to make a hard to hear whine when accelerated. Only 25k miles. Had engine replaced under warranty 2 years ago. Also had an front drive axel/cv boot replaced a year ago. Don't see any visible leaks. Dealer in Atlanta wants car for 3 days to diagnose. If they think it is in the trans, it will take 8 weeks to get evaluated. Then however long to replace or fix trans. Would it be advised to just start w a trans fluid replacement and see what happens? That won't hurt it will it? Just figured we could look at the fluid that comes out and make an assessment. If its jet black or has something in it, then i can plan on it being gone for a while.

    • @BigBensCarsAndCycles
      @BigBensCarsAndCycles  9 місяців тому

      Yes it wouldn't hurt to start with a fluid service. Odds are the fluid is black just because mercon LV gets dirty quickly in these cars.

      @BigBensCarsAndCycles  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, make sure it's not low on transmission fluid and no leaks. It's not normal. You may have heard about the delayed 2-3 shift being normal? Either way your pump whine (if the fluid level is good) is probably caused by a plugged filter from fluid breakdown. I wouldn't just replace the filter though.

    There should be a recall on those transmissions in the Ford escapes because what can happen is that somebody's going to get hurt or die from it from slipping it's a a fell pump if it is which it might be right I'm assuming he is but it needs to be addressed and if somebody gets hurt or die from it somebody's going to file a lawsuit against Ford and I wouldn't blame them for doing it I know I would have someone I'm my family follow lawsuit if I would have died or I would file lawsuit if I got hurt in the accident because it would not move because due to the transmission but when you call forward dealership they say oh no there is no recall on transmissions on the Ford escape that's BS I know cuz I have called I want to thank for this person that made this video or telling about the transmission what it can be and what it might be in is so thank you so much God bless be safe

    I have a 2012 Escape and these transmissions are junk. I've owned this car for 6 years now, since early 2017, at 109k miles and it's been nothing but problems, but the transmissions are the worse I've driven on a vehicle. Even with the constant fluid changes, they're still prone to problems. The engines on these are fine, but the transmissions are not. The fluid breaks down easily, jolting is still present with 1-2 shift, shifting flares are more common, and then you have the CV axle bushings that leak (Mine got fixed). It's at 172k miles now, changed the fluid 3 times already (and changing it 3x during each interval) and new solenoids and it's still shuddering and jolting. And the longer you drive it, the harsher the shifts. And the fluid, at the moment, looks fine and is on the correct level. For an 11-year-old vehicle, THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!!! The newer Fords, with the 6F35 transmission, have similar issues as mine...and a new transmission cost over $2k and that's not including labor. I'll say this again: That's ridiculous!!!!!! I see why these Escapes and Fusions all over the road and, yes, the junkyard, because their trannies are on borrowed time as it is. Funny how my 1999 Volvo S70 has 350k miles and it's still going strong, same with my mom's '09 Camry at 280k miles, and my dad's old 1995 Ranger never got a tranny change and it still has the original transmission at 277k miles. Yet my little old Escape, even with all the maintenance work done, is having problems at 172k miles, which is low mileage for average owners, and I know it'll need a new transmission before 200k. If this happens even with following the maintenance intervals, then that means it's a terribly design transmission that should've been recalled from the start. I would never recommend a Ford again.

      Sadly, it's time to replace your trans. I'm swapping the third different escape this year. Its a horrible pile, and failure is common. Ford will bandaid it to get past the warrantee milage, then charge you 8 to 10 grand for the exact same transmission. Find a local pull it yard. Used run from 1800 to 3000. Pay a mechanic go grab you one at a pull a part yard and you'll save thousands. If its still driving, trade it back to the same jerks who been lying to you and never buy another escape.
