This guy is cool he's saving people a bundle of money telling them check the fluid in your transmission don't listen to the no service thing from Ford that's for people that like to replace their transmissions? Good job Tom!
Good video. Same happened to me, I caught the problem too late. After having the noise going on for some time, my daughter told me about the noise in her car. After watching your and several other videos, I followed the instructions and had to use 4 quarters to fill up the transmission. Funny thing is that I couldn't find any leak. Bad news is that the noise still going so my guess is that I will have to replace it as you did.
The “bolt” that you are referencing is the fluid level check plug. There is a black plastic vent plug under the hood, on top of the transmission. You pull the plug out, insert a thin, long-neck funnel into the hole and pour the new fluid into it. Btw - You are supposed to do that with the engine running and at operating temperature.
Unfortunately you are wrong. This is not a 6F35, there is no fill port on the top, this transmission is checked and filled with the car level and the vehicle turned off. The top of this transmission (a HF35) is completely covered up in high voltage wiring and the transmission control and inverter.
Hey Tom, thanks for the video, I have a 2016 fusion hybrid and I think it might have the same problem, unfortunately it’s a common problem in my country I might sell the car and never buy a Ford again... I mean I never had to check the transmission on any car ... this was an expensive weird problem
I have the 2014 ford fusion SE eco boost and There is a plug on the top of the transmission under the hood. it doesn’t have a dipstick but it’s a little plug between engine block is and the air filter. Little black rubber or plastic circular plug you pull that out and that’s where the transmission fluid goes in with a funnel. Not sure if yours has that tho.
So I have a 2015 ford fusion SE ecoboost. I drove 4 hours to Ga, and on my way home about 45 mins from home my car randomly started making a low whining noise. Then before I knew it started revving up. Making a weed whacker lawn mower noise. Then when I tried to hit the gas bc I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic with road work I had no where to go but forward it was making a loud pop noise idk if it’s considered back firing or not. I need help, and I’ve driven it 20k miles. Haven’t had transmission fluid changed. I’m wondering if that’s the issue. It’s not wanting to drive almost like it’s stuck in neutral, but it’s in driver. It will go hitting the gas but VERY slow. It happened all at once. It’s not a knock. Any advice? I’m wondering if it’s due to the transmission fluid being low or not having any?
I’m so disgusted I have this problem now 2017 Se. I took it to Ford they told me I have a transmission leak they recommended I replace the transmission it will be 9,000 bucks…🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Sorry to hear that Dea Dea. We did have to get new transmission. We got a rebuilt one with a warranty. Installed I think we were around $2000. There are deals out there. Oreilly has shops they recommend almost anywhere, maybe ask them.
@@psnomore I went to a different transmission shop here and he told me this cars have two different transmissions and I apparently have the one that no one will work on he said that he don’t rebuild them because they have a 50/50 fail rate. He sent me to another guy and he basically told me the exact same thing that I’m pretty much going to have to get it fixed at the dealership because they just don’t have enough people around that’s trained to work on this type of car with it being a hybrid. I don’t think I’m going to spend 9,000 on a transmission when I can just get another car that’s not so complicated.. Hopefully everything continues to work well with your car. Thanks for responding ☺️
i have an answer for you people. it is failing. get it checked out at ford. it is a bearing that is failing in the transmission that is causing that sound. i had mine replaced awhile back from that whining sound and it kept getting worse even after a transmission flush
@jimmy jump yes it worked. Whatever you do, don't use eco drive unless you are on the interstate at high speeds. Dont use eco drive for city driving.i noticed it again when i started driving with the new tranny and it went away when i stopped immediately.
Incorrect, they use LV (Low viscosity). The equivalent is gm dexron vi. I personally have a 2010 fusion 2.5 auto with 330,000kms on it. The tranny was slammin, hard shifts, very concerning occurrences.. i drained my tranny (4 litres cames out roughly "extremely thin, black fluid"). I dumped a big jug of dexron 6 in.. magically my tranny is back to 95% awesomeness. Zero regrets..

@@frank4x42 - You are right. I stand corrected. It isn’t a 6F35 Transmission.
Gracias tom por enseñar nos como mantener el veiculo en buen estedo.
Lo siento, no respondí antes. Sin embargo, gracias, hago lo que puedo.

This is not the same as your fusion, this is an Energi Fusion. That plug doesn't exist on this version.
@@Twinjeremy ok thanks bro
Trying this before trusting the dealership that says 9000+ to replace the trans
Hello, at what mileage did this happen?
Why was the fluid so low to begin with? Did you have a leak somewhere?
Unfortunately Jesse, didn't discover low fluid until car started acting odd and sounds changed.
@@psnomore how was it running, was she having slips during driving?
Good video though. Do you fill it till it overflows? My wife's hybrid is whining too.
There is no fill port on top? My 2017 has one on top but it is the ecoboost model.
2013 does not have any transmission portals on top
This is a HF35 transmission, your ecoboost has the 6f35 transmission. Completely different in every way.
Thank you
Did you noise stop ?
Unfortunately I caught the problem too late. We had to replace transmission. Luckily it was under $2000, we've driven over 1000 now and no problems.
Did you get your transmission rebuilt for that price?
It in tuis case wwould it be the whole electric motor module?
Mine is making a like a droning noise when acceleration, but not at all times.

Should have gotten the DT warranty. Not being a douche, but that would have saved you thousands. For next time
Yep... i had a 2014 hybrid.... 3 failed transmissions in 200k miles. It's a bearing.
Did it have issues slipping into gears
Hey so what do i do? Transmission fluid or is the transmission broken?
I have that noise changing the rotors or break pads makes it go away
Theirs a allen drain plug under it
Found On Road Dead. My 2015 Titanium hybrid has the same issue.
Send it to the junk yard dont buy ford again

Mine starts a winding or grind sound at 65 or 70 I put a quart of that in. Still doing it tho
Kelvin sorry to hear that. We did have to replace transmission. We're going on 10,000 on new one. Good luck
Ford fusion use mercon V Not LV,
My 2010 Fusion is Mercon LV. 6F35 Trans.

Yea I think LV is the wrong type for the fusion energi
Did it fix it?
Had to replace transmission after all.
@@psnomore how much was that?
@@rosieclemente5368 He said in another comment $2,000 total cost, and that was with the use of a rebuilt (used) transmission.
