As much as this video is appreciated, the editor put the Optus logo over the score (runs vs balls remaining) - such a critically important part of this game - how no one fixed this before releasing is beyond me.
Agreed, and he’s not the only one who does it either. It’s irritating. Another thing that annoys me is the screens within screens that pop up on some videos when they are nearing the end. In short - don’t block out the screen when the viewer is trying to follow the action - it’s not rocket science.
Had the privilege of being there. Was 12 years old and went with my dad. Eternally grateful to my late grandparents for gifting me tickets for Christmas for that game.

Still unbelievable watching this 25 years later. I was at a New Years party in Sydney sneaking updates on TV & radio. At 6/38 you wouldn't have put found money on Australia. To this day an incredible win.
Bevan's finest game. It never gets old. What a pity ODI has been reduced to the poor cousin of T20. Since ODI went to pay TV in Australia I no longer get to see it.
Best odi batsman of all time for me. Maybe MSD is up there and Kohli might overtake him by the end of his career but for the amount times Bevo won Oz the game when we were dead and buried.
Grensvegter19 Abd to me is a maverick. He can destroy teams on his day but is he consistent in world tournaments? His up there with virat atm as the best in odis but im sorry no odi wc for me means he would miss out on goat in odis. Btw i watched a lot of of fastest innings and his a freak but I prefer his consistency in tests.
Saw this one live on TV at a friend's house. At around 4 pm IST we were sure that it's a lost cause for Australia, but Bevan had other plans and snatched an improbable victory for the Aussies. Even as a neutral the match was very exciting till the last ball.Felt sorry for Roger Harper though. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
Now there was a day. From early on I knew we would lose and I guessed Michael Bevan might as well get some practice in. But he wasn't practicing. He dragged the innings back from the very depths, I started to hope. And then what a finish.
Carl Hooper did not play in the 1996 World Cup citing personal reasons..... Did not play in the 1999 World Cup because Bryan Lara was made captain ahead of him.... Or else he would have appeared in 5 straight World Cups from 1987 to 2003.... And he was the captain in the latter....
Best cricketing outfits of all times! Only Oz cricket board knew how to play Cricket in flying 🌈 colours.... Best West Indies outfit of all times withv the coconut tree 🌴on the shoulder

Mahatma Kote needs to be revived
That’s awesome, I’m so jealous. I remember clearly watching this as a 15yo, alone at home, and absolutely loving it.

Two great innings in a match: Hooper and Beven
Carl Hooper one of the most naturally talented batsmen in World Cricket. This innings was a testament to his natural talent.

GOLDEN ERA WORLD CRICKET 90'S
Great one-dayer, paul reiffel and micheal bevan are calm composers, down to earth, attractive.
Thanks for the full highlights, much appreciated. You don't get much apart from the final over!

Best ODI I’ve ever seen
Never see crowds like this anymore in Australian Cricket Games
Especially for the ODIs
For test cricket you will still see big crowds like these.
@@kfreckle5453 only ashes or India
@@furqansikander5780 when there is a test tour by any team to England or Australia you will see big crowds like those. Especially the Ashes
@@kfreckle5453 not anymore only boxing day at best otherwise crowd numbers are appalling barring these two
The greatest one day innings ever played in my opinion……WOW!!!
Those were the times in winter times I used to wait to watch World Series Cup just to see the jersys.

De villiers ? Considering he holds the odi records for fastest 50, 100 and 150

+mrheartbane Bevo is the best. MSD and Kholi are okay, but the bigger bats and smaller boundaries help.
+Jon LeSouef Also ball changes at both ends so reverse swing and cricket balls remaining hard at the end ensures high scores
+mrheartbane lol consistent in WC? AB's avg in 2011 wc was 88 and in 2015 wc his avg was 95 with a S/R of 146 . How about that for consistency?
First game of cricket I watched, fan ever since

I don't think 1999 reason being Lara was made captain. Lara captained wi from 1998 April , Hooper played many matches in 1998 including CT 1998 .
Great inñings Michael Bevan my name is australia

Windies threw it away by not surrounding McGrath inside the circle to stop him getting a dodgy single like he did to get Bevan back on strike.
