What gives me hope is the fact that many of the team members confirmed to be going to broadsword are writing staff. You don't need writers if you plan on just maintaining a games servers.
That's a good sign
Ah thanks! good point.
it makes sense while broadswords other 2 mmos are just EA owned, but Swtor has a stake with Disney and I'm sure they would prefer continuous revenue so new content will have to be made eventually.
@@BaeBunni KEK like Disney are doing anything good with star wars.
@@88-32 not about good it's about money and from my understanding swtor still makes it. Might not be hand over fist but seeing that the rest of the star wars stuff is kinda flopping and the games are atleast keeping the heads above water then Disney probably isn't to interested in losing that revenue.
Over the years, this game became a comfort space for me. 11 years of gaming... Man, time flies when you're having fun
Facts always enjoy playing this game
It really is. Whatever is going on, I can log in and just breathe.
@@donewhiskey facts just log in do a little story walk around and chill I just love star wars anything
Yep! Same here. So much has changed over those 11 years, but I truly cannot imagine myself without being a Mercenary in SWTOR...
And if you are the mother of sorrows... i see why you need the confort :)
Damn I didn't knew the lead writer and narrative director were moving over, this gives me a lot of hope for the story to be continued which was my main concern!
Bioware didn’t just dump swtor - no, this is just great news!
Heres hoping SWTOR continues to get major story content!
Hopefully it stops sucking ass!
It won't.
I want to be optimistic about this change, but I've been burn by these kinds of changes before. For now, I'll wait and see.
I was going to say the same thing. Here's hoping this time will be different.
I'm not worried. They wouldn't be making all these big changes, such as bit64, Cloud Servers and DX12 if they weren't happy with how things are. The game is still very much active. I hope this does expand the playerbase further, and give is more updates and content. Been playing this game for 10 years and have countless fond memories with it.
Don't forget, that they're also expanding to Asia, specifically Japan.
@@lycandrengr5451 They are going to re-enter the asian market? Seem to recall them having serves in asia at launch but.
Bioware didn’t just dump swtor, no - this is just great news!
Im fairly certain the games gonna be in maintenance mode within 2 years
that's sad, as someone that moved to ff14 yrs ago after running as the guild leader of one of the biggest guilds and top raiding guilds on shadowwhatever and then onto star forge, and it just being absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get a consistent raid team because anytime you'd get GOOD players, they'd get bored as fuck of running the same exact raids after 6+ months and quit and move to another game, and it was just a literal constant revolving door of players, then the conquest changes and making it so that doing dailies and killing overworld mobs and shit became the most efficient way to max out your weekly conquest INSTEAD of doing group content and raids and flashpoints.... and 1-3+YEARS between content drops, bugs in the game SINCE FUCKING LAUNCH..... but you bet your god damn ass they 100000% had NEW items in the cartel market every few months..... i had to give up. the game is NOT going to get better i'm sorry, with stuff like FF14 around you just can't keep people, as a guild leader, playing a game like SWTOR in complete and total maintenance mode for like 6 yrs now and not releasing content or fixing bugs.... they just get sick of it and leave and i couldn't blame them, and then eventually had to join them because we had one of the officers that was leaving clean out a few billion credits from the guild bank right after a few of the core raiders left.
between that, the aforementioned conquest changes and lack of care/maintenance/updates/bug fixing from the company, it's just untenable to expect people to play the game lol ESPECIALLY with how limited f2p is, and 90% of the items to "help f2p players" cost more credits than a f2p player can even hold and just all kinds of other stupid shit.
i absolutely loved the game and i miss my decked out nar shaddaa casino and giant army base we set up as our guild hall on the alderaan stronghold when that came out and the huttball arena we'd mess around on in the rishii one, game had such a good housing system and the stories were so incredible and the companions and everything but.... corporate greed and apathy killed this game a long time ago man, you should seek out greener pastures :( super sad to see people still wasting time on this
Hope this amazing game is around for years to come. It's so underrated, underappreciated. This could be great news for SWTOR, guess we'll all see in the months to come.

As someone who's been away from swtor for a few years, Once I heard this news and watching this video. Confirms that I have to return. As you stated, this may help swtor and give it a new life. Swtor has one of the best storytelling of any games I have played. Will be keeping tabs to watch this movement in full.
Thanks for updating on this situation and bringing good news.
Same. It has been well over a year since I played, but overall I have probably put more hours into SWTOR than any other game, in over 20 years of gaming. I can't think of another game that has the mix of quantity and quality of storytelling SWTOR has.
Swtorista, You always have been a great condensed source of info. Thank you
cheers! you should see my videos before I cut them down LOL.
I've been playing since before launch, I hope they keep the lights on and make quality content. I'd love to be playing this game in 20 years with it still going strong.
I'm optimistic! Thanks for the great update!
Thanks for the amazing SWTOR content. Been playing SWTOR off and on since release. When I am curious where the game is and how it is going, you're the only one I check. Keep up the great work!
Probably the best move for SWTOR. Keeping a dedicated & attentive group working on the game with a new writing team sets everyone up for faster content without it being at the cost of quality. Itll be interesting to see what Broadsword does in terms of bringing in new players with this new phase of the game. All I hope is that they make a single player or shorter squad story version of all the Operations for the sake of playing the whole story in order.
I've just recently returned to the game and I'm really happy to hear all this good news! I've also seen many tweets from many of the devs moving over being very optimistic about the future :D!
It's very rare that studio change ends up for the better; most of the time it's bad news.
I agree, I think it can be seen as a great sign that they are bringing people over who are more on the development side than maintenance side of things. I am not saying it's going to go great, but omens look good.
@@brianvickery4071 It does have a better chance I agree, but being what happened with the KOTOR remake anthem LOTR gollem Halo Infinite etc I'm holding my breath
true but it's better then teh game just shutting down which is what EA usually does. As long as at a minimum they keep the game running then i'm fine with that.

@@Yuurei21 Bioware is literally working on bigger better newer games. Wtf are you taling about?
This game and devs should a take a few notes from Old school Runescape. The devs and community are very open with each other within that mmo(for reasons I won't go into) and I think swtor taking a similar approach could really help the game succeed. Run some polls and see what content the player base would like to be added to the game and most importantly, poll some quality of life updates, like the UI, pvp, etc. I only play swtor occasionally. I played through one storyline in full and I plan on eventually playing all of them. Hopefully the game last for years to come. This game would really benefit if it had a good community manager.
lol SWG... Raph is screaming right now... for those that know who he is...
Hopefully Broadsword can do something about the rampant inflation. Everything seems to cost billions of credits these days.
Congratulations on the new house. I hope everything goes well for you and yours and you enjoy your new environment.
A new version of the "What to do While Subscribed to SWTOR " would be really helpful to new incomers (like me!), especially if a new expansion is made by broadsword!
Thank you for posting.
I hope they bring back some the the outfits that were vaulted
I'm really looking forward to the new stories!
This game practically forged myself as a person during my teen years. it always will have a soft spot for me. Here is to another 12 years!!
Thanks for the update! Glad to see many of SWTOR's devs are moving to Broadsword. May the Force, be with us all.
I'm glad to hear Kieth is moving over and everyone's plans for the game.
GREAT NEWS! Looking forward on whats to come!
There is a lot of good talk about how psyched everyone is for SWTOR moving to Broadsword.
But I’ve been playing Ultima Online for 25 years now. And I’ve watched UO change studios from OSI to Mythic to Broadsword. And from my experience Broadsword is good for adding small additions here and there. Particularly monetized cosmetic additions, which has very much been SWTOR’s deal. But what they’re really bad at is customer service on epic levels.
So when I hear of this change I’m cautiously pessimistic. I don’t want to be leading the FUCK broadsword bandwagon because it won’t be the same 6-8 knuckleheads that manage UO managing SWTOR. But those two cultures are going to merge. So I’m curious if SWTOR will stay culturally the same or if they’ll pick up some bad habits.

My understanding is about half the staff of SWTOR are staying with Bioware. That's the part that worries me. The game's content was already coming out way slow, losing half their staff? That'd slow things down even more.
there will not be large content releases, it's going into life support mode
Awesome video @swtorista! Always the best coverage.
And for everyone else, she is a genuine wonderful lady and a joy to talk to. She helped a 48yo stage 4 cancer survivor to join her amazing guild. And was extremely polite and genuine in our back and fourths.
She deserves so much praise for what she does for all of us in the swtor community.
Thank you for being who you are!
I hope they know how to make the interactions with companion that are so unique of bioware and it continues
R.I.P SWOTOR You shall be missed o7
It's great to know that the majority of the team is moving to Broadsword and keeping the game active and alive!! Thanks for keeping us informed, Swtorista!!! Also, congrats on the move!! Take the time you need to get adjusted into your new digs!!
Bioware didn’t just dump swtor - no! This is just great news!
5 yrs tops left / then RIP starwars
SWTOR - a game I played heavily when it launched (Founder title ofc), had a guild, raiding, Maintank all before it became free to play. Then lost touch with the game over all these years. Came back two times, once when KOTFE launched and after that just recently when dual-class mechanic was introduced. It has always been a home to go back to once in a while.
So maybe it's time again to come back if there are some technical improvements. DirectX12 is a good start.
Glad to hear that game is still alive and kicking, im no longer playing SWTOR but got fond memories of it
worried but from the dev post it seems they genuinely want to give breathing new life in a try, im here for it!!
My god I have been playing this for 12 years o.o
I hope I can play for another 12 :)
My god, I haven't been able to play for ten years
@@GrassPokeKing Pretty lame
Definitely good to hear.
I'm optimistic, hope the move doesn't change the game!
well it won't, it's going into life support mode
I know its a long shot but i hope some pricing and server transfers are changed i played on a german server for 4 months before realizing my mistake now im stuck
i haven't played the game myself in a year or two, still love the game and want to go back and play it again at some point. Very Curious to see where the game goes from here
This made me feel better. I'm so happy I love this game.
Nice to see this game is still going on, hope it has a good few years of story to tell. Have fun playing :)
I'm skeptical honestly. While I hope it gets better. I'm not going to hold my breath until I see actual results. They can promise all they want, but it won't mean anything if they don't deliver.
Yeap. Same here. I prefer to wait.
I just got back into the game at the perfect time! I’m so excited and can’t wait wait to see what happens with this game!
Depending on how this goes, I'd be happy to come back!
All the promises sound great, but even then I'm still not sure how to feel about this
Hope they plan on updating the graphics...
Great video, well explained as the rest of the videos !
With the large amount of people moving over to Broadsword, and what positions they hold, I'm excited that they will continue adding to the game. My ONLY concern is will they be able to pay the voice talent for all the characters? MtFBWY,A
Yes they will be able to pay for voice talent, more likely we will get more voice acting with broadsword than bioware. BioWare has been milking SWTOR’s big income for use funding other games that have failed. With this change our money will be put to good use, expect bigger better updates with less time in between each. Don’t listen to the toxic trolls who want you to cancel your sub and join their favorite MMO
@@whaterverman479 I'm not planning on canceling any time soon. What you predict, bigger and better and faster updates, is what I hope and to some degree expect with a studio that can focus more on this great game than what seemed like was going on previously.
I'm definitely optimistic... which is strange considering I'm the opposite for practically anything else, especially Star Wars related.
Personally, I feel Bioware fell from grace a long time ago and never recovered. Revenue from SWTOR was misspent on doomed projects like Anthem and Andromeda and there really hasn't been anything amazing from them save for glimmers here and there with SWTOR's updates. They've been hit and miss but at least it's better than what the other projects were ultimately dealt.
Here's hoping with Broadsword now in control this won't be an issue and I'd certainly appreciate it if they addressed old issues, like twi'lek neck seams, nautolans getting to blink again, etc.
This might make me resub and come back longtime!
Anxious times. Bioware did a great job in the vanilla class stories. Maybe for the better they are handing over the reins to someone else, though.
Thanks for the update @swtorista!
Thank Lady Sauron she made the deal and plays the game as well
The cinematic trailers playing in reverse in the background is so weird, especially Malgus walking backwards into the flaming Jedi Temple.
I was concerned until I heard that a lot of the staff was moving too. That gave me hope that we could see the same quality that we’ve seen so far but maybe a bit more frequently than before (I’m not expecting miracles, but maybe one more major content drop per year) while still giving us a long lasting gameplay experience
Tried logging in not long ago after well over a yearlong break due to no content. My status was Preferred compared to what was a subsciption that lasted nearly ten years so my gear was all messed up, back to paying for everything (and now no money), my gear score kept changing so I don't even know my characters anymore and that score is probably so low I couldn't shoot or zap myself. I don't know what's going on with getting updated mods nowadays. It's totally foreign and without the forums it makes discussing these very difficult to say the least. I cant imagine who would've thought this gear thing would be a good idea. Maybe if they took down some of the partitions it might entice customers to return but now it just seems they've just made it more difficult but in the bad ways. Anyway, as always, great video and information :)
Nice I literally just got into this game
thank you for sharing this, hope the game will prosper even more now
don't get your hopes up, you'll just be disappointed
I wonder if they’ll be allowed to focus on a big expansion bigger than what they have done, i don’t know what it would be, but would be nice to get one.
while over the years this has been my go to backup and i have put plenty of $ into it over the years I would be willing to start from scratch if they ever decided to do a new version of SWTOR with unreal engine and some new combat, graphics and game play physics..
So very happy to see most of the SW:ToR team making the move. Best news for this game.
the team moving is probably some coders to show broadsword how to use the engine and do balancing and most of them are gonna be 3d devs, to create stuff for cartel shop
Cool. I should install this game again. Been so long.
Congratulations on moving to new house❤🎉
we’re still having fun!
I really really hope when they said "modernize" they mean to bring the graphics up to 2023 standards and hopefully keep the level of storytelling as excellent as always
I want win 7 support to continue we were loyal subscribers since inception then excluded crap move the amount of money I sunk into Swtor over nearly 15 years would have upgraded my tech to the latest and greatest now I can’t afford to update my system at all

DC Universe Online didn't get a full head of steam, in regards to content releases, until after Sony shut down SoE and sold it's games to Daybreak. Hopefully the same will be said with SWTOR moving to Broadsword. Still anxious about this but hopeful.
Great news, fingers-crossed on the transition to Broadsword. Two things: Wonder if Eric is gonna make the move and HOW ARE THEY gonna deal with the CREDIT AND GAME HACK(ERS) upon new launch and developing our new game updates as they try to incorporate from Bioware to Broadsword. Will be interested to see what happens.
I just hope they add more zabrak customization options 😭

I'm cautiously optimistic.
Come on Lucasfilm, you own this: let's see an TV show with in game crossovers set here in SWTOR.
My comfort game hope we get atleast another 3-4 years
What would we do without you? Thank you so much for all the work you put in to keep us informed and engaged.
Despite super competitive players harassing you on how you play your characters (when you play group missions), SWTOR is one of my favorite Star Wars games ever.
I don't plan to stop playing anytime soon and will even grind my latest character to level 80 before fighting solo the last boss of my class story (Darth Baras).
I really hope this turns out to be a great move.
It won't bring any new major content but the game will still be playable.
maybe with these new improvements we could get the ability to replay the class story missions without starting a new character
I have jumped ship a few weeks after 7.0, haven't logged on since, but I have a strong sentiment to this game...asking current players: is it worth returning to? How are things?
Means I need to find out how to move my acc safely. I may not play as much, but I spent a lot of money in there before it became free to play
Спасибо за дикцию, автоперевод справился❤
Even Linus discussed about this news.
I just want my marriage scene with Lana😢
Honestly if they put a bit of effort into a couple of fields in the game they could breathe new life into it. If they brought back the individual class stories, or at the very least seperate ranged and melee stories would be a good first step. Then make some improvments to the cosmetic aspect of the game. I want a hood toggle dang it! Also would like a separate field for cloacks/jackets.
Interesting news, hopefully it turns out well, it's comforting to know that many of the devs that work on SWTOR will be making the switch alongside the game. RIP Julien Sands though.
Maybe we will see the return of Class exclusive stories
I hope they'll finally add new classes.
as always when it comes to this sort of movements ....lets keep expectations low...that way we wont be disappointed and frustrated
I might sub again if something good happens
this is acually good news
