I still remember playing Destiny 1 for the first time. Loading into the game and hearing that ethereal, gorgeous music. At the time I had never experienced a game that looked so great, because I had just got the Xbox one for the first time after years of playing on a 3ds. I was a young kid in complete shock that a game could not only have such an incredible soundtrack but look so fantastic and have a world so immersive and interesting. I’ve always found space cool so a futuristic retro space shooter giving you a glimpse of familiarity while also being unrecognizable was just amazing to me. And the gunplay is still incredible. I couldn’t even notice or care that the story wasn’t well written because I was so immersed in the world. The enemy races were actually threatening when you first fought them. It was all new. So even just beating the original campaign was one of the most memorable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. And once the dlcs were released I got hooked by the loot chase, and the raids. Raiding in Destiny 1 will forever be one of my favorite periods of my childhood. And I really think the music is one of the reasons the game has stuck with me so much. I’ve always loved music and the soundtrack of Destiny 1 is nothing short of incredible. It’s just so immersive, it makes you feel like you’re really in that world. I can think of so many songs from that game, whether it’s the iconic intro, tranquility, the tower, and instantly get a sense of euphoria and nostalgia. I remember waking up on the weekends, drinking some coffee, and hearing that relaxing music of the tower. Even if I were waiting for lfg groups I could just sit and listen to that music all day. Destiny really had a magic to it. And Destiny 2 has never had it for me. Even during Forsaken, I never felt any kinda magic with that game. And while I obviously have nostalgia for that time in my life, I don’t feel that way because of rose tinted glasses. I have booted up Destiny 1 and it still feels incredible to me. It has identity

A game that will forever stick with me is in fact, a mod; Enderal, a total conversion mod for Skyrim.
But it isn't your typical mod, it's a total conversion mod that basically removes almost all Skyrim assets except its engine, and uses it as a base to build a whole brand new open-world RPG with a map half the size of Skyrim's world, set its own fantasy universe to boot (Vyn instead of Tamriel). But it's not merely a great mod, because I'm more than willing to say, no joke, that it's one of the best open-world RPGs I've ever played.
Imagine a game with Skyrim-level music and world design, old-school RPG systems and difficulty, Carl Jung's philosophy, an emotional gut punch of a main story, and impeccable writing throughout it many side quests, books and general world-building, and you have Enderal. I still follow the lead writer of the mod, Nicolas Lietzau, as well as the composer of Enderal's music Marvin Kopp, to this day, that's how impressed I was with this game.
In a way, this game is to Skyrim what New Vegas was to Fallout 3; a smaller team with far less time and resources than Bethesda, taking their tools and creating something that far exceeds its predecessor. I seriously recommend all you guys reading this to give Enderal's trailer a watch, and check it out on Steam or GOG.
Because yes, it now even has its own Steam and GOG page, that automatically checks if you own Skyrim, and does the mod installation all for you with zero hassle, AND has achievements and clouds saves to boot. PLAY THIS GAME. The only regret you'll feel is the emptiness from the ending as the credits roll. If you know, you know.

Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, losing my father early in life I always have a soft spot for stories about dads, and the story of Edward Kenway is just something else, watching a man pursue his ambition and seeing where it leads him as all his friends fade away one by one until he realizes too late that he needs to change so he sails back home with his daughter, and Bonny Anne singing Parting Glass as the credits roll almost brings me to tears. Also I love the ship combat, simple though it may be.
A Story of my Uncle, this is a weird game, gameplay is unlike anything else I've ever played and while I don't even remember the story itself I remember how it made me feel as I finally made it back home.
Dishonored, The visual style of Dunwall is something else, and while the morality system is pretty binary I loved the gameplay even as I save scummed my way into trying for a phantom playthrough never seen by anyone, and despite being a fairly linear game the different routes it gives you to get the missions done is really cool.
Another Call of Duty game that I would add in is Modern Warfare 3, the Soap/Price saga was something else. I played the Modern Warfare series after playing World At War which I had on Wii (ever since doing CoD multiplayer on Wii I have never touched it since) but the story of the campaigns really had me hooked and losing ghost plus being shot myself by Shepard was just so outta left field that I was utterly stunned the first time playing through it.
The Last of Us, much for the same reason as Black Flag the father child dynamic gets me every time, seeing Joel and Ellie bond is really something special. It's a shame that it never got a sequel but that one game is enough.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005), the 501st campaign seeing the story of Star Wars through the eyes of the clones rather than through the main characters was... man, I still go back and play through it again from time to time. As a young kid I wasn't allowed video games but whenever I went over to my cousin's house he had a PS2 and we would play it through the night, sneaking down during the night to play it is something I won't soon forget.
Mass Effect would certainly make the honorable mentions for me, I didn't play it until all 3 were out and I started with the 2nd game (the best of the trilogy imo) and all the companions you meet, the stories of each planet you go to, it really does stick with me even to this day, mostly the 2nd game though as it was my introduction. The 3rd game was a let down given the greatness of the 2nd but still when going through the series again I do have to play it each time just to complete the story.
I forgot to mention but the first season of TelTale's The Walking Dead, Lee is one of my favorite characters in gaming period.
I share your feelings on Firewatch and Black Ops but in addition to Black Ops I really liked World At War, probably because it was my first Call of Duty game but the story and characters in that which were then built upon in Black Ops is part of what made Black Ops hit as hard as it did for me, seeing Reznov again in Black Ops had me freaking out as I was giddy with excitement seeing him again.

I recently played "Firewatch", and yea it's an amazing game, like you said the most perfect thing in that game is the dialogue and the emotions that gives you as player. The end of that game, can be disappointed indeed, but if we think a little more about it, it does makes sense to end like that. We know the story of each side, for example, while I was playing, I thought about Henry story, and thought "What would I do, in that situation?", and that's why even if you don't agree with some decisions in the game at the moment, if you think a little bit more, you would probably would done the same decisions. So the end, it's a reflection of life itself, we don't get an "happy" ending, because the story of both of them doesn't allow that at that moment specify (I don't know if this makes any sense, but to me the ending made a lot of sense, but not until I thought about that question of "what if it was me in that situation").

Like seriously, it’s a masterpiece and an experience I’ve heard a lot of people say it was life changing and it sure is. I also love Fallout: New Vegas one of the greatest well thought out of the story. But back to Reach seriously got play it, once you get the ending the heartbreak is so big you’ll never forget it, but later you’ll love it.

Yakuza series with its characters and villians to a degree. And a suprising amount of depth behind tattoos and suit color on characters. A game with intricate characters, plot twists, and sometimes tragic yet relateable villians. And on the flipside goofy japanese humor sprinkled in. Soundtracks are incredible too at times.
One of the best franchises ive seen, and played.

Demon Souls started my From Software journey on the PS3. I had never played a game that pissed me off so bad but kept me coming back for more. Then it all clicked and the rest is history. Dark Souls is my favorite game of all time! Elden Ring as close second and Bloodbourne is in my top 5.
A couple of games that have stuck with me over years that weren’t on the list would be Nier: Automata for it’s crazy yet awesome story once you understand it. Ocarina of Time as my favorite Zelda game ever. Socom 2 as my intro into multiplayer games and WoW for its mind blowing size back in the day. Chrono Trigger for it’s awesome story!

Being an old gamer the one that stands out to this day was the gsme Unreal. After getting out of your spaceship you are led uphill and you can hear a river to your right. When you reach the top of the rise there is a channel leading to a cavern to the left but you are drawn to look to the right for the most realistic waterfall ever seen on a video game. I later learned the tricks used but it never lessened the beauty of that moment. It would not be until Skyrim that a game left such an imprint as that waterfall.

I could mention many games that stuck with me in similar ways that you described, especially Red Dead, Bioshock, , Dark Souls, Witcher 3, but when you mentioned Assassins Creed 2 soundtrack, it made me realize how much those songs evoked emotions in me that simply hearing them with my eyes closed, I can picture myself running around the rooftops of a city in Italy that I have never been in my life, like a metaphor for the game's story with Desmond absorbing Ezio's abilities with the bleeding effect.
But it made me think how all these games have that in common: incredible soundtracks that manage to stand on its own, even separated from the games they were created for.
Which brings me to my experience with Skyrim. I didn't play the came when it came out, in fact, I was never into RPGs. It was about 2 years ago, after playing Witcher 3, I was listening to the soundtrack of the game on spotify, and suddenly a track started playing on shuffle, with violins creating a melody that would slowly buildup the other instruments, like a telling of a story with beginning middle and end solely through music. It immediately made me feel emotive, and it sounded familiar, even though I had never heard that song before, kinda like when you fell nostalgia for something you didn't live through. The song was From Past to Present, one of the main themes played throughout Skyrim. That song alone made me finally pick up the game after 10 years and give it a go (and Oblivion too). I remember discovering my first dungeon, climbing the throat of the world, learning my first shout, fighting my first dragon, discovering towns, uncovering the side plots of each region, everything the game had to offer that gave me that sense of discovery and adventure, and in my mind I finally understood what was so familiar about the song that I had heard, and yet the crazy thing was that I only played the game afterwards. It was something magical, like the song reminded me of a memory of something that I only experienced afterward, and it was fitting with a song named "From Past to Present", like it somehow transcended time itself. That is the magic of videogames, and that is what makes a game resonate with me for a long time, something I'll cherish forever. I'll always keep playing games to find that next experience.

Another one is KOTOR, I’m also a big Star Wars fan, I already loved it while on Taris, and that was only the beginning.
And I’d also say the obligatory Destiny. As much as I dislike D2, I loved D1, it was a magical experience at the time and it never leaves my mind the fun I had in Destiny’s cool world.

It was actually an amazing game, I loved it, it’s one of those games where I just couldn’t stop playing and played the entire thing in one sitting. Loved the dialogue, environments, and just about everything about it. I definitely want to replay it to hear all the different dialogue. I love dialogue in games (especially Fallout), and was surprised to see how intense and serious the story got. There were times I was scared feeling like I’ve been watched, and times where I felt like a forest elf walking through the brush. Yeah the ending was okay, I don’t think it was bad but I definitely didn’t feel satisfied in putting the game down after it.

Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3.... Halo: Reach.... but especially Halo 2, one of my favorite campaigns/soundtracks of all time, it was so memorable and so intense playing through it as a kid, to me that was Bungie at their maximum story telling potential, Reach also holds a special place in my heart for the multiplayer experience, MLG was fair and balanced, no radar, symmetrical maps, just the right movement speed/ttk, perfect jump physics, and the forge was at its peak, the jump maps, the puzzle maps, it was all just so unique and hit so different in a way I havent experienced in any other game, honorable mention for CE, cause the level of mystery, especially on first playthrough, the flood being unleashed, the forerunners, 343 guilty spark betraying you, and the world building at that time was insane, lets not even talk about that SKY BOX like goddamn, also Sgt Johnson is chad af. Halo is an iconic franchise, and every Halo campaign had me like "I need Halo 2 now to see what happens" "ruh roh, gravemind confronted cortana in H2's ending, now I need Halo 3" "Halo 3 broke my heart in the best possible way" "oh Reach is what happened before H1? damn this is some good storytelling" Halo hit the mark. :)

It’s a simple game about a teenager taking a hike up a mountain, in order to get cell phone service to call her mom to make sure she was doing ok after her surgery. It was a fun experience in a tiny open world, and not only did it get me truly interested in Video games as a whole, but it also reminded of how much I worry about my parents. They were well into their 40s when they had me, and I realize they aren’t going to be around forever. Playing this game encouraged me to call them both up a little more often.

    1. Spider Man 2
This game was the first Open World experience I ever had. Playing as Spider Man and swinging though New York felt so refreshing. It was such a unique vibe and a dream come true for a child like me.
    2. GTA San Andreas
The first GTA I ever played is my favorite one to this day. This was the definition of fun and freedom. As a big Hiphop fan I loved the vibe as a kid.
    3. Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3
These were the first games I truly „owned.“ While I also played other games like Splinter Cell, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, GTA or Spider Man 2 - all these games belonged to my older brothers. These two games hold a special place in my heart. I was obsessed with Dragon Ball during my childhood and just listening to the soundtrack of these games brings back incredible memories.
    4. Red Dead Redemption
This was the first time I was old enough to feel emotionally attached to the story of a video game. I was shocked when I finished it. The ending left me speechless.
    5. Assassin‘s Creed 2
The Desmond era of Assasin‘s Creed is something where you just had to be there to know how exciting it was. AC2 just had this special vibe with it‘s beautiful soundtrack and fascinating Open World. The story was really exciting too, making me impatient for the release of the sequel.
    6. Batman Arkham City
This is my favorite game of all time. Growing up as a Batman fan and being in love with Arkham Asylum, I couldn‘t wait for Arkham City to be released. I rewatched all the trailers and was extremely hyped and when my dad bought me the game at release I didn‘t know that I would experience the best piece of gaming ever made. Everything about this game was perfect. Especially the ending left me shocked for days. I will never forget how much fun I had with Arkham City and I am currently at a point where I replayed this game so often that I can quote most of it. This is the best action adventure ever made.
I replay it almost every year and never get bored.
    7. Naruto Storm 2
While I don‘t think that this game reaches the quality of the other games on this list, it marks the first time I was involved in an online community for a video game. I met people on the internet and we formed „Clans“ where we fought against other Clans in Online Tournaments. The Naruto Anime was also running during that period and just reached it‘s peak.
    8. GTA 5
At it‘s current state the game doesn‘t stand for anything I love about GTA. But man from 2013-2016 there was no game which made me have more fun than GTA 5. Playing early GTA Online with your friends in Los Santos after school was such a unique and refreshing experience. And the singleplayer also reminded me of GTA SA, bringing back iconic features like barbers or planes.
    9. BioShock
As a teenager I took a step back from playing video games and probably missed a lot of gems which I later tried for the first time. Gaming also focused more on being a longtime experience. Either you had massive time consuming open worlds or an online experience. I always felt like I was the type to play linear story games, I felt the most enjoyment out of them. So once I finished school and started going to the University, I bought BioShock. This game was extremely untraditional and unique, I will never forget how much I enjoyed being in Rapture playing the game in the middle of the night. The simple amount of fear I felt when meeting a Big Daddy was crazy. The plottwist also blue my mind and I think that this game is one of the best games ever made.
    10. Red Dead Redemption 2
What can I say? After playing RDR 2 I thought gaming was dead for me. I played all the good games in the 2010s after finishing school. I played God of War 2018, I played The Witcher 3, Skyrim. All of them. And I enjoyed them, really. But then I played Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2021 for the first time in my life. This game was ultimate definition of what I love about video games: Linear, structured story; fun gameplay; beautiful world with tons of side activities and most importantly - emotional impact. This story doesn‘t need to hide from any movie or tv show out there. RDR 2 is a narrative masterpiece and it brought back my excitement for gaming which I lost in the late 2010s. I regret not having played it on release.
    11. Elden Ring
After playing RDR 2, I felt like gaming was over for me. There can‘t be any game which reaches the heights of this game. I tried many other games which I thought would appeal to my personal taste and none of them came close to the joy I felt with RDR 2. On the other side there was this extremely hyped game type with none-linear storytelling and extremely difficult gameplay. As a casual gamer I never wanted to play a Souls game, I just thought they don‘t fit my taste. Last year I decided trying Elden Ring though. It was pretty cheap and I only heard positive things about it, so why not eh?
Man, this game changed my view on gaming. I always viewed games as a piece of entertainment, but after playing Elden Ring I understand that games can be extremely enganging through being a challenge. Dying in Elden Ring never frustrated me but made me want to improve more and more. I remember trying to beat Margit for 5 days and when I finally did I felt such a relief and pride in myself. This is the first game that made me feel proud. It made me understood that I need to try new things, I don‘t know my own taste as good as I thought.

It’s not often that I find a game I just get lost in. It may happen once every year or two. But when I do come across it, it’s beyond special. Exploring every nook and cranny of Red Dead 2, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, AC Odyssey or Horizon makes me remember why I love gaming so much. Sure, the gameplay is obviously a piece of the puzzle, however, the main thing that attracts me is the opportunity to visit worlds I could never go to from the comfort of my room.

A lot of the games that have stuck with me have shared a general sense of coziness or relaxation. Wind Waker, Red Dead Redemption, Okami which I'm replaying at the moment, even the original Nier to some extent, or just driving around in Saints Row 2 listening to the radio, it's just nice to live in those worlds, and glad to see more recent games also offer similar experiences, like Spiritfarer. Shadow of the Colossus as well, but going off of that, The Last Guardian is also one I'll always remember for just how unique it felt and the first game to ever get me emotional at the end. Might just be softer in my old age now, things like Like A Dragon Gaiden's ending getting to me as well among others, but even so, memorable all the same.
Games I find to have great stories have certainly stuck with me, mostly starting with both No More Heroes and Killer7 really changing my perspective on the types of stories games could tell. I remember really being obsessed with Trace Memory back when it first released, replaying it over and over with how short it is, and despite some issues I was really happy with the remake and will likely hold that as a memory dear to me for some years to come. I'd also replayed Hotel Dusk, and then played its sequel for my first time, Last Window, I don't think I'll be forgetting that one either. Both Deadly Premonition games are interestingly similar but definitely have a lot of jank charm to them that is hard to forget. MGS series is definitely up there, mostly the first three games but 4 is not so bad in retrospect. Some RPGs in particular, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6/9/10 for me, Lost Odyssey, Bloodborne, maybe not so great in Pokemon Gold but still a fun experience that has overshadowed most of the rest of the series I've tried.
There are many games that are still a bit new for me to say for sure, don't have as much time to replay games in general these days, especially in trying to complete ones I never finished, but I have a good feeling about some like Pokemon Scarlet, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Tunic, Tears of the Kingdom, Red Dead 2, NMH3, Atelier Ryza, Void Stranger, many I'm still actually working on but have such a haphazard schedule for. I guess we'll see.

One game series I always find myself coming back to is the Force Unleashed games. They mastered the Jedi/Sith power trip as you cut down waves of troopers with a single lightsaber stroke or blast of force lightning. The story of unleashed 1 is also surprisingly good for what it is, adding a nice touch of irony that the thing that killed the empire was started by Vader. The gameplay is top tier and often times when I’m feeling down in the dumps I’ll boot up the game and start ripping stormtroopers apart just for the sheer satisfaction of it. Plus while it’s no masterpiece the way force unleashed 2 expands on the first gameplay wise is genuinely insane and makes it a joy to play. The force unleashed games are just sheer fun and I love decimating armies with Starkiller

AC for generally the same points you said in the video... Black Ops 2 because I have some wonderful memories of hanging out with friends from school on there... playing zombies one moment, swapping to MP the next to do some clan stuff (who remembers the clan system back then huh? Gone Home - I was expecting it to be quite dark (it isn't) but the ending going up to the attic had my heart racing, I'll always remember that.
I Was a Teenage Exocolonist - the first playthough really hit hard as things you can prevent you have no idea about, so lost a few people in it and the empty feeling stuck and led to me doing so many playthoughs.
Mass Effect 2 - the first time doing the Suicide mission.. so memorable, the music, the atmosphere the characters and the feeling of doing it without losing anyone

The hilarious revelation scenes, the fighting style of each playable character, the tragic stories for Saejima and Tanimura in particular, the bathroom door scene, the entirety of Akiyama, and the continuation of Kiryu’s journey.

Outer Wilds is a game that stuck with me, specifically its expansion Echoes of the Eye. By far the most unique game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Go in completely blind is what you'll hear from everyone who recommends this game for you. Also fun fact, it's expansion, Echoes of the Eye is the most frightened I have ever been playing a game. It made me feel so uneasy, and the feeling of peeling away the layer of each mystery stuck with me, to the point where the ending had me shed a tear.

    Cyber Punk 2077
The combat and the diverse options to use for combat is thrilling. Assault rifles, Sniper rifles, pistols , Fight as a Samurai wielding a katana in melee and if you lose your Katana and Tanto , you have Mantis Blades to cut down your enemies whilst using complex netrunning and stealth to be a 2077 AD Shinobi.
The lore and missions on Cyberpsychosis is gripping.
The debufs/negative consequences of using too much cyber ware sounds sensational. I would love if you get screen jitters and ocular blur or light static when you creep closer to cyber psychosis.
And even lose complete control and go on a murder spree whilst you are unconscious, and eventually, if you don’t rectify it… you succumb to the psychosis.
I would love to be able to join/Work for the Trauma team, to go on several missions where you have to enter a hostile location, secure the area, find and secure the patient and safely exfil him/her via medivac.
Some lower class(Cheaper package) clients, you just rock up, secure the area and stabilise the patients condition, then you can leave … just leaving the patient there.
With the higher class/package clients, you enter into deep underground lairs to retrieve them, covering your squad as they carry them via stretcher to the medivac air ambulance, sometimes when the patient is loaded onboard , you can stay behind and continue with the mop up procedure or end the mission there.
However some missions will have you get back into the air ambulance and accompany them to the MedCenter.
Some very high priority clients whom have assassins after them will be a challenge to protect, even whilst in flight on they way to the MedCenter, your AV can get shot down, causing the AV to crash in unsavoury locations, surrounded by fiends, scum and the encroaching assassins. You then have to secure the patient and exfiltrate what is left of your team to a secure area for extraction, or if your coms are damaged in the crash, your team has to slog on foot a great distance , battling thugs, assassins, fiends and public riots of the discontent citizenry whom can’t afford such medical care (A lot of potential for grey / important decision making) eventually commandeering a suitable vehicle that can fit the patient and some of your team, with the mission only ending once you have successfully driven the vehicle to the MedCentre , overcoming multiple obstacles , with the patients alive at the hospice.
Custom load out choices for the security and EMTs depending on what the situation is, plotting a route to get there in under 3 to 5 minutes.
Joining trauma should enable you to get membership (and even Platinum-Coverage if you can afford it)...would be cool to be able to call in help when you know you will go down (or when you actually go down).
You join the faction in the aims of working your way up to reach the best of the best in medical care , to hopefully find anyone whom can aid you with your..relic issue.
Obviously your medical skills/perks will have to be high in order to join this faction.
    ua-cam.com/video/4u9KxaaFwdY/v-deo.html
I love that the game punished you if you get the worst ending. CDPR are just visionaries.
‘’Today is truly a historic day. Today, technology has fulfilled the promise left empty by religion. ‘’ The most striking line when you get the absolute worst ending in the game.
The references to ‘’Silence of the Lambs’’, good music, all the call backs to the Matrix, ‘’The Cat’’...’’DeJa Vu ‘’,’’R.A.B.I,T,S’’, the edge of the Arasaka tower building, the red and blue pills, the second Net,the rogue AI’s and Johnny played by the legend Keano himself, such brilliance.
The deep storytelling and character arcs are so refreshing, so good to see that proper storytelling is not completely dead in this decrepit modern age of the Woke feminazi cult.
Takemura,Delemain ,Saul, all such deep, complex and alluring characters, not to mention the rollercoaster of a ride you go on with Johnny, a friend whom I’d take a bullet for.
The branching choices and their differing consequences , leading to a diverse amount of vastly differing endings, is superb.

I need a mod that adds Arney as a playable T800 Terminator in game!!! Please give us more. Only Arney can be more epic than Keano. Arney would be the most badass character in CP 2077.
This game is a masterpiece. Well done and thank you CDPR.
