      I've noticed most people are "programmed" to see The Ninja as the blender to buy. They market the sh*t out of 'em. So, maybe a side by side comparison to The Vitamix with all aspects of cleaning them. Hands down Vitamix is the easiest. ✌

    After years of drinking chunky smoothies in my Ninja, I've finally decided to stop being cheap, and get a Vitamix, but wasn't sure what model to get. This review is excellent, and so timely! Thanks for posting! And yes, I would love to see more reviews; maybe small food processors?

    I’m so glad you showed the accessories for the explorian model. I bought it today and thought I made a huge mistake after making my first smoothie - I feel much better knowing that the personal cups can be used to get results closer to the 5200

    I’m ready to replace my cracked Ninja blender with a Vitamix and was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the various models. This video was really helpful and reinforces what other reviewers have reported about the canister width really making a difference in creating a vortex and pulling the ingredients towards the bottom of the blender. Thank you for this side by side comparison.

    Hello, I own a Vitamix 7500 and one of the many things I love about it is that I can also use a standard-tall 64oz container. You can also use your tall 64 oz container on your Explorian model and it should work just fine. Just don't use the wide-base 64 oz container on your 5200 model as it doesn't have 2.2 hp.

    Great comparison! I noticed similar differences (my mom has the 5200). I have the 750, and bought the 32oz container so I could make your dressings etc. That one splatters less, and is what I use most of the time. The 750 is also a little quieter, which made a big difference in my very echo-y apartment.
    For larger volumes, I do think the wider container blends a little faster. And as you pointed out, you tamp more on the 5200. But if you only have room for 1 container, then easily the 5200 is the way to go!

    • @DetoxinistaRecipes
      @DetoxinistaRecipes  2 місяці тому +1

      Smart with the 32 oz container!! I can see how the wider one could blend faster when you have a large amount to blend. I guess we don't blend huge amounts that often! (I have the Vitamix immersion blender for soups, so we usually use that for large batches.)

    I wish you would review the Ascent X series. From what I've seen, the 48oz containers are narrow at the base like the 5200 64oz containers. The units have a smaller footprint, are lighter and quieter, and come with a 10 year warranty.

    • @DetoxinistaRecipes
      @DetoxinistaRecipes  2 місяці тому

      I will see if that's in my budget for next time! That series looks promising, but I wonder if they are worth the price difference?

    • @vegangelist
      @vegangelist Місяць тому

      That's correct.
      As someone who had a Blendtec for 20+ years and had things like numerous speeds and presets, when I switched over to a vitamix last year, the 5200 was never going to make me happy. Not only do I not want a blender that's so tall, but I want more bells and whistles - bells and whistles that I had had for 2 decades.
      When I was all set to get the 750 pro, I found what I had really, really wanted: the a3500 on sale, with a big coupon, plus 5 payments, on Amazon. I was sold. Got the a3500 for less than the 750.
      I agree that the wide base canister is horrible. Unless.... unless you are making a really large batch of something.
      I was considering getting a 48 ounce canister but then I decided to get the stainless steel canister which is 48 ounces and smaller at the base.
      It has the new click lids, like the other ones for the ascent. I love the click lids because they seem so much more secure at the top.
      I adore the stainless canister and use it almost exclusively.
      I also got a dry grain canister, just because it was on sale, but I've only used it a few times.
      I bought the individual cup attachment and I hated it, with a passion. To be fair, what I got was different than what was shown here because the ascent has the auto detect mode so it adjusts the times for the presets based on the size of your container. Accordingly, the individual cup for the ascent series is a little different.
      I hated it so very much. So very much.
      Plus: 20 ounces is way too small for most of my smoothies. Ha!
      I was using a nutribullet for the past year for my single smoothies, but I've just upgraded my immersion blender when my old cuisinart started dying.
      Now I'm just using the immersion blender for my single smoothies (and much more) and my counter blender for bigger stuff.
      Good news is: the new immersion blender is taking the place of 3 small appliances/ tools that i had (immersion blender, nutribullet and small chopper).
      But for your full size blender, if you can, I recommend the a3500. After that, the 750 professional was also wonderful.
      And that stainless steel canister is everything!!!

    I'm a Vitamix-Guy. And, about 4 months or so ago i was at a thrift-store and to my astonishment, there was a Vitamix 500 Professional Series, brushed stainless finish sitting right there on the shelf. $85 bucks and i didn't haggle a bit. Now i have both the Explorian model, which is fine for my extreme uses (even though I'm a single guy)...but that 500 Pro-Series is super-powerful as well and has "programmed features" to choose from, as the Explorian is simply on/off/pulse. I actually bought if for my 24 year old son. However, he's just not "there yet". But it's ready when he is. Anyways...it ain't what ya got, but how you use it! Would the splatter up the sides be due to the smaller batch in the explorian more than anything else? It’s a wider base which is unfortunate but from what I’ve read online it isn’t suitable for small batches

    • @DetoxinistaRecipes
      @DetoxinistaRecipes  Місяць тому

      Yes, that's definitely a factor! But I often find myself blending batches that are small enough to do this... so you'd have to make 3-4 cups of something to avoid the issue. (Fine for soups or huge batches of smoothies! I'm usually blending for 2 people, so the splatter happens every day.)

      Do you maybe put too much liquid and leave very small air for the pressure to go out? One suggestion is to leave the top hole open (the tampering hole) and hold the top with a kitchen towel so the air can go out. Sounds like a volume issue.

    I purchased an A3500 I do not blend stuff up for just 1 person. I make batches up for 2 or 3 people and I have Never had chunks of anything left in the Mix that I have made up. For small batches maybe the 5200 is a better fit but I can not imagine a much better blender than my A3500 Accent . I made a small batch of peanut butter in the 20 oz container and it came out GREAT just to see if the advertisement was not lying .
    The Container over heated and I was worried that I did something wrong because I could not get the mixer to work with the 20oz container after I made the Peanut Butter when all of my other attachments worked just fine. After letting the 20oz container sit for about a half hour it worked just fine. The 8oz containers make Great powders with no chunks just fine powder. I sure hope that they bring the 20oz and 8oz containers back for the Accent series blenders I would like 1 or 2 20oz containers to add to what I already have.
    Different people have different needs.

      I have the a3500. I bought a 20 ounce last year and it was awful. It was a nightmare to get closed tightly enough to get it to be detected. And that made it a nightmare to try to open back up.
      For the price, it was so useless to me.
      I would, however, love to have a "bowl" that is like the 8 ounce shape but more like 16-20 ounces in size. That would be great, if the lid design were improved.

    I was going to buy a E310 but your review definitely makes me change my mind. The problem is that the 5200 is almost impossible to find in Europe and very expensive (~800€ / 825$).
    UPDATE: I'm wondering if the Classic 64-ounce Container, that can be purchased separately and which is the same as the 5200, is compatible with the E310? So that we could buy a E310 + the Classic 64-ounce Container... Anyone an idea? Thanks.
    Another thing. Although I understand that you compares two containers of the same size, there may not be all these issues with the 48 ounces Explorian container (instead of the 64 ounces in the video). The shape of the 48 ounces is closer to the classic shape of the 5200. Also in the E310 VS 5200 comparison on rtings (I don't put a link here), videos show that most of the ingredients stay at the bottom of the 48 ounces E310.

    • @vegangelist
      @vegangelist Місяць тому

      The issue is definitely the canister.
      Honestly, the explorian series is under powered. If you have access to the 750 pro or the ascent series, I would recommend those first of all.
      Then get yourself a 48 ounce canister (or the tall one that the 5200 uses, if you get the 750 professional). My personal favorite is the stainless steel canister. It's my favorite and the one i use almost exclusively. Meanwhile my wide base 64 ounce canister goes almost untouched. Lol
      But, yes, all of the canisters are compatible with other models except the ascent series. Ascent- friendly canisters will work on other models but older canisters won't work on ascent without having the autodetect base.

      I don't know anything about the x5 but I have the a3500 and love it.
      As someone who used a Blendtec for 20+ years - with a digital panel, presets, numerous speeds, etc, i KNEW i would never be happy with the 5200. I was spoiled by those features (but I have friends with an explorian who love it because it is their first vitamix and all they have ever known) and didn't want to give them up.
      I love having the presets and the digital panel and the longer warranty.
      But, obviously, not everyone has the same checklist of must haves.
      But the a3500 is great. The 750 professional (not the same as the lower 750 propel model) is also great (I got and tried that one before I got the a3500). The x5 didn't exist at that time so I don't know anything about it.

    • @vegangelist
      @vegangelist Місяць тому

      @soumynonareverse7807 so, i did have a Blendtec for 2 decades but, for the past year, I've had the ascent 3500.
      I find rtings website useful for breaking down the details.
      From what I could gather from glancing at x5 ads and the rtings website, the x5 comes with a narrow base jar, even if a slightly modified shape.
      But, for larger batches, the 64 ounce jar could be useful and would still fit the x5, I presume, since the ascent series should be interchangeable.
      With that said, my 3500 came with the larger jar. It has rarely gotten used. Rather, I use my 48 ounce stainless steel jar which I adore. Honestly, if I had a model that came with a lexan 48 ounce jar, I might never have been motivated to get the stainless steel jar. And that would have been a pity. The stainless steel jar is wonderful, cleans up "smelly" and staining things like a dream. I love it.
      But also: here is a detailed, side by side comparison that you can see on the rtings website, which I've used quite a bit when trying to decide between models of numerous items.
      www.rtings.com/blender/tools/compare/vitamix-a3500-vs-vitamix-ascent-x5/7506/74665
      For what it's worth, they give the prize to the 3500 over the x5. And, by now, the 3500 is likely cheaper since it is no longer their "top" model.

      @@DetoxinistaRecipesthat's exactly it.
      For years, Blendtec took a chunk out of vitamix sales with their longer warranty (at the time - that isn't true now) and under counter fit.
      Those squatty canisters fit better but, alas, performance suffers for smaller batches.
      But a 48 ounce canister can solve that problem and the larger one can be saved for the mega batches.
