It was truly criminal how much he was overlooked and undervalued by the mainstream industry. He was born of the rarified air above and blessed us all even for a short time.
He is sooo missed. One of the most underrated and overlooked guitar players ever. It's amazing how many people didn't know him. Saw Jeff many times and was always mesmerized...how could you not be? Incredible.
Jeff Healy became well known after starring in the Patrick Swayze movie “Roadhouse”. Highly recommended if you’ve not seen. Great Patrick movie and Jeff’s personality made his character bigger than what was originally written in the screenplay.
Proud to say he was a neighbour of mine just west of Toronto, hell of a sweet nice guy and played all the local bars growing up. I walk by the cemetary sometimes and so sad to loose someone so talented, unique and beautiful soul at a young age.
Seen him a couple times here in Kitchener - what a supreme talent, gone far too soon. RIP Jeff. Throw his gravesite some love on your next pass by - thanks.
Jeff Healey, guitar god, great person, funny guy and a good Canadian boy to boot. He had a blues heart and the sweetest soul you could ever meet. Miss ya buddy.

YES!! I've requested this many times, and I knew your minds would absolutely be blown! Great reaction you guys! You nailed it. Jeff was a legend. A little background on him; Jeff lost his eyesight at the age of 1 to retinal cancer. At age 3, he started to learn guitar. He learned to hold it in the traditional way but, later preferred to have it on his lap. He is from Canada, and had several hits here in the US. Most notably a ballad called "Angel Eyes". He also co-starred in a movie with Patrick Swayze called "Roadhouse". Sadly in 2008, Jeff lost a battle to cancer when he was once again stricken. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest guitarist ever but, is sadly overlooked. Next to the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray etc. Rip Jeff Healy. 😢🎸
He was such an amazing guitarist. As a fellow Canadian I am so impressed with his immense talent. I was very sad when he passed, he's definitely missed.
I sat 10 feet from him and watched him do this live and was totally blown away. Had seen most of the great guitarists but nothing or no one like him. R.I.P. Jeff, thanks for the memories!
You've reacted to Stevie Ray Vaughan, you've reacted to Jeff Healey, now you need to react to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey TOGETHER performing Stevie Ray's song Look At Little Sister. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agreed, but that said, the entire band is legendary. Those are 100% monster players. Even the show host is a monster. I love Omar with Herbie Hancock doing Cantaloupe Island in Japan. Another superband.
I was 16 and one of my good friends called me and said we got to go downtown Calgary see a blind guitar player who is incredible. I don't know how we got in, but we did !. A few years later I became a stagehand and I actually got to run Spotlight for one of his shows in Calgary. Thank you for showing the footage
A lot of people don't realize that his whole band here was an All-Star cast. Dr. John killing it on the piano. A member of The wrecking Crew and a New Orleans fixture for a very long time. Sadly we lost both Dr. John and Jeff Healey not too long ago.
@@Christatum411 yes, I've also seen him several times I lived in New Orleans for a long time seeing him with several different lineups never disappointed over 30 years.
Jeff was blind as a baby after getting cancer in his eyes. He later got some sight back but only for a short time, till the cancer returned. As a kid, his parents gave him a guitar. He had never seen the proper way to hold one so he held it his way. He is self taught. He later died of cancer at a young age. Thanks for reacting to him as he's so much fun to watch!
Actually they removed his eyes when he was not yet one year old. He has glass eyes so he never got his sight back. The cancer did return and he died at 41.
He learned to play initially holding the guitar in the standard way but being blind he sat most of the time and the strap became an obstacle. So he then learned to play this way, strapless.
Yes heartbreaking we lost Jeff. Stevie said Jeff is as good as any player ever including himself. Iam 67 and remember the first time I seen him it was like Jeff was dropped from another planet.
He is a great Guitarist he was raised on the same street as me in the Queensway area in Ontario Canada....i remember seeing him takeing a ride on his bike around the street...even thought he was blind this did not stop him at achieving at whatever he wanted to do
I had the great privilege of attending one of Jeff's concerts. If you think it's exciting to watch him on this video, imagine what it was like to hear him live.
RHCP did a performance on this amazing show on CBC....watch them and this and realize what real talent is....all while never having seen a sheet of music...best guitarist ever.
I was blessed to see Jeff open for ZZ Top in Tucson - he dropped jaws throughout the arena, and IMO he stole the show from ZZ Top. He was one of a kind and truly inspirational - I've never heard of anyone who knew him personally say a single bad thing about him, and he was a huge fan of jazz and operated a jazz radio station in Canada for many years. He is well worth diving WAY into the rabbit hole for... even his unreleased music is better than 95% of everyone else's A-game.

Actually got to see Jeff & Bonnie Raitt play 'As my guitar gently weeps' at Red Rocks Amphitheater in tribute to Stevie 3 days after his death. Very emotional & riveting experience. RIP to both legends and so glad to see that Bonnie is still belting out the blues to this very day.
As the Years Go Passing By, Angel Eyes, Blue Jean Blues, How Blue Can You Get and Look at Little Sister w/ Stevie Ray Vaughan are all excellent Jeff Healy songs. The man is one of the best and most underrated blues guitarist ever.
Great reaction to a killer track! Jeff (RIP) was really coming up big around this time (he was 22 here). Of course, Dr. John (also RIP), was an absolute legend. Bass player is off the chain!
