This is certainly one of the best scenes in comedy history. I loved Jerry Lewis since I was a teenager. I can do a pretty good imitation of them as well. “Marvelous simply marvelous.” 😂
My Dad grew up watching Jerry Lewis and other comedians when he was a kid growing in the fifties and sixties. But I grew up watching Eddie Murphy,Kevin Hart, Ben Stiller, Steve Martin, John Candy, Tyler Perry, Jim Carrey and Robin Williams because I’m a 90s early 2000s kid and was a 2010 teenager and a adult now.
A very interesting movie, indeed.I think those who study Psychology should watch it.How handsome and arrogant people are cherished and on the other side humble and not so good looking, though intelligent people get shunned. In the long run, the nutty proffesor humiliated the principal when the Mr.Hyde he concealed made him recit Hamlet half naked.

Meh. 60s movies are just not my thing. Lewis didn't like the remake because of the fact jokes but acting like a stereotyped annoying geeky professor with a squeaky voice doesn't seem like it would appeal to me if I grew up in the 60s. The cringe level is at the most astronomical levels. Sure, the new one has some cringe but only sometimes. The 60s version seems to be all cringe.
Well i guess it isnt your thing then. The comedy i pick up here are the small mannerisms, the longed quiet moments where its awkward. The geeky look and voice i believe did originate from this in a way, which inspired character like professor frink and such from the simpsons turning into the stereotype, but i don't think it was back then.
Lewis was an Executive Producer on the remake. Eddie is one of the biggest Jerry Lewis fans of all time, in fact, when Lewis got his honorary Oscar, guess who presented it to him? That said, of course you are entitled your opinion; I hated the Eddie movies so there you go.
@@suzannechristie7753 Also his incredible use of sound and color, the way the Purple Pit is designed, Lewis never gets credit as a FILMMAKER either, people make quick assumptions about the "Lady!!!" etc and they think that's all he was.
@Corwin719 Agreed. This scene is, in a word, great. All of the nuances are perfect. I love how he has his finger up to make a point, gets shouted down, then looks at his own finger, and he sinks it down, lol.
