Then they say "at ease" which means you don't have to stand in that stiff position and can relax (without moving from your spot). So the scene is a play on that because TECHNICALLY if they say "at ease" you can do ANYTHING, as long as you stand in the same spot. So usually people will just stand maybe with crossed arms or some other relaxed pose but since this is a comedy everyone does a super unexpected and weird pose 🤣.
Lloyd Bridges and Leslie Nielsen, two actors who moved from serious to comedy so brilliantly. You look back on their non comedy work now, and I laugh, expecting them to say something silly!

@@nhl_rookiewalter Because in the military, they'll usually say "Attention" and you have to stand in a stiff position without moving. Then they say "at ease" which means you don't have to stand in that stiff position and can relax (without moving from your spot). So the scene is a play on that because TECHNICALLY if they say "at ease" you can do ANYTHING, as long as you stand in the same spot. So usually people will just stand maybe with crossed arms or some other relaxed pose but since this is a comedy everyone does a super unexpected and weird pose 🤣.
The scarf flapping in the breeze makes me laugh every time I see it.

You look back on their non comedy work now, and I laugh, expecting them to say something silly!

Kevin Dunn plays an awesome straight man in these scenes. Not a flinch on him, which makes Bridge's performance all the more hilarious imo. :-)
